Martins Omaruna, has been wounded after a yet-to-be-identified policeman shot him in the jaw.

It was gathered that the policeman was angry that the driver of a commercial bus conveying the victim almost hit him during a stop-and-search at the First Junction area of Benin City, Edo State.

The apex northern socio-political organisation, the ACF, on Wednesday said it agreed with the decision of the northern governors to repatriate Almajiris to their states of origin.

Celebrity Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters, who have been in detention for the past few days over the death of video vixen and dancer, Kodak, at his studio in Omole, Lagos in April, has been granted bail.



According to Police sources who confirmed his released, said Clarence and others who were detained over the death of Kodak, were granted administrative bail while investigation continues.

A tailor, identified as Afeez Ayodele, has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his co-worker, identified simply as Obiora, to death on the United Estate, in the Sangotedo area of Ajah.

Kano State government on Sunday, said it required no fewer than 5,000 bed spaces in isolation centres to accommodate the rising number of COVID-19 patients in the state in the next one month.

The Director of the Infection Control, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Chairman of the Risk Communication Committee on COVID-19, Prof Isah Abubakar, disclosed this in an interview with The PUNCH in Kano on Sunday.

The Director-General of the NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, had, at the PTF media briefing on Thursday, said Lagos State, with the highest cases of the virus, needed more bed spaces.

A teenage Nigerian girl miraculously survived after she was raped, strangled and thrown into a 10-feet-deep well in a bush.





The girl have now exposed the culprit, leading to his arrest. The suspect, 28-year-old Godday Robinson, allegedly dragged the 17-year-old girl (names withheld), who was said to be on her way home from work, into the bush and raped her at Agbara, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, after the girl refused to accept his love advances.

A statement by the Command’s police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in Abeokuta on Thursday said the suspect was arrested on April 24, after the girl mysteriously regained consciousness in the pit and was rushed to a hospital.

Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) officials in Ogun State have been accused of killing a 15-year-old boy, Riliwan Bello, in Owode, Yewa South Local Government of the state.



According to DAILY POST, Bello, a student of Area Community High School was allegedly killed by a stray bullet fired by men of the NCS, Ogun 1 Area Command.

This is coming barely one month after the NCS reportedly killed a 15-year-old Sekinat Agbelade in Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.

It was reliably gathered that the Customs officers, on March 29, while on the chase of some suspected smugglers, fired gunshots, killing the innocent girl.

It was gathered that Bello’s death was similar to that of Agbelade.

It was gathered that the incident happened when the Customs men broke into some shops in Owode to evacuate bags of sugar and rice, which they suspected had been smuggled into the country.

Bello was reportedly rushed to a hospital, where he eventually gave up the ghost.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, has appointed 19-year-old Louis Okon as his Personal Assistant on Technical (Data Management) Affairs, making him the youngest political appointee in Nigeria.

A black American woman from Michigan has lost her husband of 35 years and her son to Coronavirus within three days.



Sandy Brown of Grand Blanc said she’s suffering from ‘indescribable grief ‘ after losing her husband, Freddie Lee Brown Jr. and son Freddie Lee Brown III within a short period of time.



“There’s not even a word created to describe my pain. It’s unimaginable,” she said.

According to Detriot News, Sandy’s husband fell sick in March, coming down with chills and muscle aches.



The 59-year-old who had a kidney transplant began having trouble breathing and was admitted to Ascension Genesys Hospital, the outlet reported.



He later tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed on a ventilator. Few days later, Sandy received a call that his lung collapsed and to rush to the hospital, where she learned that doctors were unable to save him, according to the report.

When Nurses told her not to go into his hospital room, she insisted, putting on protective gear to say goodbye to her husband, the newspaper reported.

A middle age man identified simply as Akin, has been killed by generator fumes in the Ijora-Badia area of Lagos State, while allegedly having sex with his pregnant lover.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency operatives has successfully put out the fire at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

The LASEMA response team is currently conducting a post-disaster assessment to ensure the fire had been completely extinguished after the dampening down process.

The resultant fire affected the Tour Africa Transport Company within the hotel premises and not the hotel building itself.

No casualty was recorded in the incident.

“On arrival at the incident scene, it was discovered that Tour Africa Transport Company within the hotel premises was engulfed by fire and the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

“No casualty was recorded, however, the fire affected a Toyota coaster bus with registration number LND133XW, a Honda Civic car AKR234LZ and a Cadillac Escalade car with unknown registration number.

“The LASEMA Response Team carried out post-disaster assessment with a view to ensuring the fire has been put out completely,” said the DG/CEO of the agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

The responders include LASEMA Response Team from the agency’s Command and Control Center Headquarters and Lagos State Fire Service, Ikeja Station.

Katsina State Government has lifted with immediate effect the ban on Friday prayers in the state over the COVID-19 pandemic.
