Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike have distanced himself and the state from the #RevolutionNow, organised by the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore, now in the custody of the Department of State Services(DSS).

The mass protests were scheduled to hold in the country today the 5th day of August 2019, and organizers have vowed that the protests will hold despite arrest of the former presidential candidate and convener of the#RevolutionNow movement.

But, in a statement by the Rivers State governor on Sunday, the state does not subscribe to the protests and is not part of it.

He urged parents to ensure that their children are not led astray to participate in the ‘illegal’ march.

A former Minister of Education and presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Oby Ezekwesili, has condemned the arrest of the publisher of Sahara Reporters and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 general election, Omoyele Sowore.

A Muslim teenage girl has made history by becoming the first female British Muslim jockey to ride at Goodwood Racecourse today – before racing to victory.

Khadijah Mellah, 18, from Peckham in South London, competed against 12 female amateur jockeys during day three of the Qatar Goodwood Festival in West Sussex.

Damilare Adeshina, a 52-year-old officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has decried the neglect by the agency following his involvement in an accident in the line of duty.

According to Punch, it was gathered that Adeshina, who was deployed in Zone 6, Agege area of Lagos, was pushed from a truck while he was trying to apprehend the driver, who drove against traffic.

Doctors were left in shock after removing more of £53k worth of jewellery and coins from an Indian woman’s stomach

The 26-year-old woman, Runi Khatun, was ‘weak and emaciated’ when she was rushed to hospital on July 16 in West Bengal state after she began throwing up after every meal.

During surgery, doctors removed 69 chains, 80 earrings, 46 coins, eight lockets, 11 nose rings, four keys, five anklets and one watch dial from her abdomen.

The woman’s mother said she noticed ornaments had started disappearing from their home but she had no idea that her daughter was swallowing them.

She said her daughter got the coins from her brother’s shop and added that when she would question her about the missing objects she would cry.

Doctors said while the objects were mostly made of copper and brass, there were also some expensive gold jewellery found inside her stomach.

Dr. Siddhartha Biswas, head of the surgery department at the Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital, said the patient was ’emancipated’ and could not eat food.

The remains of Precious Owolabi, the corps member who was hit by a stray bullet during the Shi’ites and Police clash in Abuja on Monday July 22nd, has been laid to rest.

Police have arraigned one Mr. George Uboh, the whistle-blower for alleged defamation against the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Nigeria Army has just confirmed the killing of senior officer, Colonel, a Captain and three other soldiers in an ambush laid by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno/ Yobe states axis yesterday July 18th.
