Kemetian:
Why are you assuming he will borrow the money?

Assume he oversees an annual budget of $40 billion. He could spend $5 billion a year for four years on this scheme.

The question would be which sector(s) will have reduced funding to make way for the programme, but it can be done without borrowing.

The real issue is implementation. How do you get the recipients to do what they took the money for? Let’s not kid ourselves. Many guys truly intending to start a business will receive that money and just think “you know what? Let me just go and buy a ride. Or buy land.”

For the ones that do do start a business, What happens if they experience cash flow issues?

Training nko?

Because not everybody that wants to do business knows how to do business.
You need to raise money before you can spend it — and the reality is, without taking on additional debt, Nigeria cannot even cover its debt servicing and recurrent expenditures. That already puts the country in a negative fiscal position. So the question becomes: how else do you raise $20 billion? The options are limited — either you sell national assets, which is highly political and difficult to execute, or you go to the debt market, where it’s uncertain whether even a single lender or a consortium would be willing to take on that level of risk.

Do u have a son? The day your son becomes a gay. That day you would have failed as a father.
The truth is, there is almost nothing you can do once it happens. Besides, humans are contradictory in nature — we all seek individual rights, yet we blame someone else for the decision made by another adult.

You know nothing, keep supporting and enjoying your failed tribal leaders.

At least Tinubu have tried his best and his best is not good enough, if majority of Nigerians have common sense, the best thing to do is to try this Peter Obi that have been making noise of how he would change things for better.

Instead of continuing with someone that have openly failed like Tinubu for a second time, is it not better to try a new person with new idea and promises to see until we get things right?

For your information, Peter Obi have a clear economic blueprint to achieve all the things he comes out to say. He might not present them exactly as it is on the blueprint for some reasons including prevention of others stealing his ideas. Google Peter Obi and read his full profile and the offices he has occupied in the private sector where competence is considered first unlike in the political/public sector where tribe and religion are considered first in Nigeria.
This is not a personal attack but to interrogate the veracity of his proposition.

Please understand that the son is an adult entitled to his own decisions—it’s unfair to attribute his choices to his father. I hope we can all focus on the issues and avoid personal or family attacks.

And he will definitely do it as he is Mr. talk and do and not like tinubu that is still owing super falcons the whole money he promised up till now…..This thing of Obi emergence is not natural , I am very convinced na God send this man to untie Nigerians from the bondage of poverty people have been put into by uncaring wicked rulers. …I am old enough but never imagined a point would come in the journey of Nigeria’s redemption from bad leadership where people would see a man like Obi and say the only reason they don’t like him is because he is Igbo….it is actually an eye opener to see that some mouthing their love for one Nigeria do not actually believe in one strong, prosperous nation in their hearts
If you run the numbers, you’ll see this is just empty posturing without substance or knowledge. First, who would outrightly lend Nigeria $20 billion? Assuming 10 people are employed with a monthly salary of N30,000, that’s already N3.6 million, while the total capital outlay is N1.7 million. How is that possible? Even using the current exchange rate, it’s still not plausible—he needs to think through these statements.

He got A3 in Economics.

That is his best, no wonder he is so good in managing public fund.

The economy will definitely see a change if he becomes the President.
Yet he chose to keep scarce resources lying fallow in a bank where he has interests. This is both morally wrong and economically imprudent for a state grappling with fundamental developmental challenges.

Mr Bulabadeenullahi, We will find out how much she earns as a Justice appointment into the Appeal court just few years ago and see if it is enough to acquire a $2.5 million property.

You can offer to be her lawyer in the USA.

So, relax and play the politics that Wike enjoys so much..
You are making my exact point — you can find out because it wasn’t acquired in a country known for secrecy, like Panama, where people typically go when they want to hide illicit wealth, especially proceeds from corruption or crime. So by all means, the opposition should investigate the source of the acquisition.

I am also sure he will have many other hidden properties in Spain and Dubai.

Those ones will be dug up soon..

There’s nothing wrong with acquiring properties abroad except you can prove it’s from proceeds of corruption. Besides, it’s better than having assets and properties in a tax haven or being featured on the Pandora list because you can make inquiries about the source compared to tax havens.

Hmmmm.

The difference between Tinubu and Obi? Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. Up to down and Bottom Up approaches. Simple.

To Tinubu, it's better I create an enabling environment where big companies thrive but while doing it, people will steal. The bigger the bread, the more the crumbs while cutting.

To Obi, it's better to keep the money so no one will steal and the people can run small businesses on their own.

Unfortunately for Tinubu, most youths now are at the survival level and need that Obi offer bad bad. And Obi knows it too, so he's marketing exclusively to that group.

May the better marketing genius among the 2 win jare.
This reminds me of the Parable of the Talents in the Bible—where the servant who buried his talent (like keeping money idle in a bank account) ended up losing it in the long run. That lesson still holds true today.

For anyone who cares to process this;

1. Person's benefit? Business wise, with proper documentation, you will be able to use your land to access loans directly from the bank.

2. Government's benefit? Tracking of stolen funds by tying properties to people so that efcc can now ask how one person accumulated all of it.

3. State's benefit? In Africa, documented lands gives peace of mind which leads to more people wanting to acquire such which leads to influx of rich people into your state. And, of course, you can now be taxed appropriately. Lol.

Since all the stakeholders have their benefits, the initiative will fly, for sure.
Thank you, and God bless you for this. Until the benefits can be personalized, most people won’t be able to see their true value. Many individuals remain in poverty despite owning illiquid assets that could potentially be converted into cash.

He shouldn't be in the right place to talk about Peter Obi.
What’s the right thing to do? Do you want the Federal Government to take over the role of the Governors or Local Government Chairmen? The issue of out-of-school kids is the responsibility of the states and LGAs — let them stand up to their duties.

I understand but international bodies would only quote the official rate from the central banks in every country.

If we calculate using 750/$ with around 28 trillion naira market cap as at May 2023, this would mean we were at a mere $37.3 Billion then and now we are at $58 Billion despite the devaluation from 750 to 1560 (parallel market)

This would mean the Nigerian stock market have added over $21 Billion to its market cap so far since May 2023 despite a more than 2 fold devaluation. Incredible.

Exactly, therefore do the best while you are here in this world.

Equity is the best solution.

Since 1999 that democracy was restored in Nigeria, the south west has been in power for for 20 years , 12 years as president and 8 years as vice president.
Yet whenever they hear that someone from south East want to contest they will become angry and aggressive, imagine people from south west swearing that PETER OBI will never be president yet they want the clueless and incompetent tinubu to continue for a second term.

Make no mistake about it, if you don't stand up for your right no one will do it for you.
No region is second class in Nigeria.
There’s no true equity or justice in politics—only competing interests. Whenever you see power brokers making decisions that appear aligned with fairness and justice, trust me, they have a bigger agenda in mind. Align your interests with theirs, and you can influence political outcomes. Otherwise, you’ll be left endlessly demanding justice and equity, which often serve as tools in the pursuit of political interests. 😊

Mixture of random facts dressed up as logic
We cannot make any meaningful conclusion about Jonathan because in 2011 he was already an incumbent .
He did not become President from outside.

There is no reason why a person from North Central Must have the support of the NW
1. They could become president the same way Jonathan became president from vice president and use incumbency
2. The fact that Buhari could not become president without the SW tells us the SW is even more important than the NW possibly after all since since 1999 no one has EVER won without winning the SW whereas Buhari won the NW and still lule

Let us not forget that Jonathan got 22 million votes in 2011. While Buhari got 12million

In 2023 total votes s fo all candidates was 23 million so BVN showed the 12 million Buhari votes to be a fraud like Jonathan's 22 million which was the power of incumbency

To win as president you need 25% in 24 states that can come from the NC all the southern states and Abuja
That is the mathematics
Nothing special about NW
Who led the push for GEJ to become acting president and supported his 2011 election? The key point is that strong regional backing is essential to win the presidency. GEJ initially had Southwest support, but lost it in his later election, which cost him victory. Given current politics, the South-South region is likely to receive Southwest backing for VP in 2031 and for president in 2039.

Racoon:
Nice suggestions or political solution there my brother. However, if the Nigerian constitution is truly reflective and inclusive, then the SE ought not to be fighting for any national political relevance given it contribution in the politico-military history of Nigeria.

The problem is that the feudal power lords who think that Nigeria is their fiefdom that must not be shared with anyone except themselves but ended up bastardizing it with worsening levels of abysmal leadership from the post - colonial and 1966 Nigeria.

Now let the Igbo man try his hand they said no. Let see where all these shenanigans leads this contraption of Lord Lugard.
Power in Nigerian politics is not given — it is taken through consensus building. To secure the presidency, understanding the dynamics of regional influence is essential. Nigeria’s two major political power blocs are the South-West (SW) and North-West (NW). Any serious contender from the other four regions — South-East (SE), South-South (SS), North-Central (NC), or North-East (NE) — must first secure the backing of the dominant power bloc within their larger geopolitical zone.

For example, a candidate from the NE or NC cannot realistically achieve the presidency without the support of the NW. The same principle applies in the South — without SW support, a southern candidate's ambition is likely dead on arrival.

Take the case of President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ). Without SW backing, the NW would never have allowed power to shift to the SS following President Yar’Adua’s death. GEJ’s victory in 2011 was largely made possible by the support of the SW. This was further proven in the 2015 election when the same SW bloc pivoted and played a critical role in his defeat.

Therefore, for any meaningful presidential ambition from the SE or SS, the first strategic move is to win the support of the SW. Once that is secured, other alliances can follow. Similarly, aspirants from the NC or NE must align with the NW to stand a chance.

Additionally, the SE currently stands a better chance within the APC than any other party. The SS is already positioning itself for the next southern presidential bid. If the SE does not act swiftly and strategically, the next southern president may very well emerge from the SS.

This is sort of beyond politics; because even you look at the co-chairs of the national traditional councils they are both from NW & SW--- its likely the colonial masters consider them as the two most influential or popular power houses in the country.

Do you want to start something you cannot defend? Would you like to buttress the point you raised with facts and figures?
Here you go:

AFDB
Mandate: Promote Africa’s economic and social development through investment.
Motive: Reduce poverty and improve living standards in Africa.
Total Assets: $318B

WTO
Mandate: Facilitate and regulate international trade among members.
Motive: Ensure fair, stable, and predictable global trade.
Budget: 2024 FY $239M

Afrexim
Mandate: Finance and promote intra- and extra-African trade.
Motive: Support Africa’s economic growth through trade finance.
Net Income: $973.5 million
Total Assets: $40B

I hope this clarifies that the WTO, like Nigeria’s Ministry of Trade, focuses on trade policies and regulations—not on project financing or generating financial returns.

We are seeing doings from Mr. Akin Adesina. He's constructing international highways connecting Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Mr. Adesina has given many Nigerians jobs at AfDB.

Sincerely, I don't know what's happening with Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. When will that woman start supporting Nigerian businesses or even give Nigerians jobs at WTO? We don't even see their openings online.

This is just the difference between men holding key positions and women doing the same.

The president is a moral and ethical office
That you don't realise that is due to the very dirty and anyhow process by which they have been emerging in colony Nigeria
While the president presides over all Nigerians as you rightly said, he shouldn't be seen openly associating or gallivanting with criminals. If not so, nothing stops a president visiting boko haram camp as part of campaigns, after all they are citizens and have the right to vote. I'm sure you'll still retain the energy to preach about the president's office being low in moral capital if you see such
What’s moral about an office that can order the killing of people if it’s in the interest of the country? Fraternizing with Boko Haram is anti-Nigeria’s interest; therefore, it won’t happen. But if doing so will end Boko Haram completely, don’t you think that office will do it? The goal of that office is Nigeria’s interest only—you can argue how it’s achieved, but it’s only the interests of Nigeria and the officeholder that truly matter. For example, America doesn’t officially negotiate with terrorists, but there are ample open secret negotiations by the US government and terrorists whenever interests align.
