Christianity EtcLet Us Work Together by lipuka(op): 11:01am On Dec 28, 2011
The tragic bombing and killing of worshippers at St Teresa's Catholic Church in Nigeria has dome more damage to the Muslim cause that anything else. Coming, as it did, on Christmas day, which is a holy Christian occasion, and targetting a church was the most misadvised and misplaced act ever. Noone ever does such a thing and expects to be accepted. There is just no justification.

Killing in itself is not condoned by any religion. Using religion to justify what is clearly a criminal act is deplorable Even those who may have sympathised with those who carried the dastardly act will now be inclined to distance themselves from the perpetrators These acts of violence stand condemned by all. And rightly so. The people who committed the act are worse than animils, because animals only kill when they are hungry. They kill for food. These creatures who killed innocent people in a church killed just for the sake of killing

My heart, and that of many Christians in East Africa, goes to the families of the innocent victims

BusinessThe Rich Never Pay Tax by lipuka(op): 8:38am On Feb 18, 2011
Paying tax is one thing that is obligatory. It is the only means, for a Government to raise money. So you may say all of us would be patriotic enough to pay taxes. In theory, everybody pays taxes. In poractrise, it is only those who earn little who pay taxes. Let us look at the scenario. You go to school, work hard for thast degree, then hope you get a fine job. Once you get the job, you work hard to impress your bosses, so that they may give you a better salary

Along the way, you get married, children cpome along. If you are lucky, you buy a car, a house and all the other goodies, You feel secure. But the Government is after you. Before youy even spend your money, you pay tax. Then once you get your money you pay rent, or mortgage. Then school fees, then petrol, insurance, and the list goes on. Finally, whatever is left is what you use. And that is moch much really.

A clever man makes money work for him. He will buy a car, but he will make sure the car pays for itself. He will but a house, but he will make sure that the house pays for itself. what you see here is that one has bought things which have become a liability, while the other has turned the same to assets.

As you can see, the employee pays tax as soon as he gets his pay. And he will contionue doing so for the rest of his life, and hoping for a pension, which will not ammount to much. He is forever in debt. The rich man, on the other hand, forms a company. He employs all the best brains. He spends the money the company generates as expnses. He can go on that holiday to the Carribean with all the models and beauty queens at company expense. He will buy a house yes, but it will be bought by the company. Same with car and all others.

In reality, the rich moan is actually umpemloyed. He does not pay tax But he has access to a lot of money which he spends with abandon. At the end of the year, the Government will tax whatever is left of the money, I rest my case
EventsValentine Day Is Too Commercial by lipuka(op): 8:44am On Feb 11, 2011
It is that time of the year, that traders will be sniliong all the way to the bank. This time, they will be making money selling all sorts of things red to mark Valentine. I have no problem with Valentine. Indeed, I believe there are times when we should set that special time for those clearest to us. Problem with Valentine is that it has not only been made commercial. it has been turned immoral.

What has been happening now is that special parties, and places are now set aside for lovers. Yes, lovers are given incentives to so to some place to do those tings wer say should not be done unless you are married, well, at least by religious people.

It is okay, if a man and a woman wants to make love, but this should not be at the encouragement of some business concern.
EventsNollywood Roadshow In Kenya by lipuka(op): 8:20am On Feb 03, 2011
Nairobi is set for yet another Naija event sometime this year. This is a Nollywood event, asnd for the first time, will be organized by the Nigerian High Commission in Nairobi. Previous events have been organized by Kenyans. Kenya has seen many of the top entertainers, and some have been very helpful in Kenya.

Top on the wishlist of many Kenyans are Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Eno and Mercy Johnson. Others include Patience Ozonkor, who actually was in Kenya in December, Peter Edochie, Mkem, John Akofor and maybe Osita. Halima Abubakar and Maureen would be welcome too. I would expect that Ramsey Noah would like to be back. He was and is popular. He almost got raped on stage! Tough luck that most of the women had seen better years and were past their prime.

But Peter Edochie would be really welcome. He is very popular with the young girls here in Kenya. But they are welcome, and are assured of one very big party.
PoliticsKillings A Threat To Nigerian Security by lipuka(op): 9:47am On Jan 29, 2011
When the killings started in Northern Nigeria, they were always being termed as sectarian or religious. But the latest killing, of a politicians who was largely expected to be elected Governor must send alarm in many area. And not just in Nigeria. We have had too many politicians being killed in Africa, just because they seem rather popular and likely to be elected.

I have a problem with anyone, who thinks the only way to solve a problem is by killing those who do not agree with them. The killings in Northern Nigeria have been going on for a long time now. A permanent solution should be found. The sooner, the better

Music/RadioFm Stations Are Not Professional by lipuka(op): 9:45am On Jan 24, 2011
When the new FM stations were allowed to operate, it was expected that they would promote the spread of information and help in the democratisation process. Sdaly this has not happened. What listeners have are radio announcers who do not know what they are supposed to do. They shout at their listeners, rather than talk to them, give stale recycled jokes, and do the laughing, Snd the only programmes they know about are phone-ins, no features, no drammas, no magazines. Anda the music is not the kind you would like to listen ith your mother in law. And the only thing they talk anout in the phone-ins are relationships. They themselves are failures in thir relationships, and they think they can advise the listeners! And they are all the same, no variety. I will always listen to BBC. Even Radio China is doing a etter job

CelebritiesKudos To All Nollywood Stars by lipuka(op): 3:50pm On Dec 31, 2010
Now that the year has come to an end, we have to look at the contributions that were made by Nollywood stars. I personally think they did a wonderful job, scandals and all. They kept us all entertained by their acting and acts, whether on dvd or off dvd. Wevall enjoyed what they did with whom. So may we wish them all AS HAPPY NEW YEAR, hoping that they come up with mopre outrageous thing to keep us entertained.

Bu seriously, I hope they will continue being just as beautiful as ever. And let us give them a chance this time. Less badmouthing will do them good.
Foreign AffairsKenyan Politician -- The Chameleon by lipuka(op): 9:58am On Dec 24, 2010
Kenya has done it again. Kenyan politicians have voted to get out of ICC. The reason? Ocampo mentioned some names of the prime suspects in the 2007 post election violence. They now say Kenya is a sovereign state and can handle the case internally. Very strange indeed. Barely a year ago, the same legislators rejected setting up a local tribunal, since, in their opinion, the courts could not be trusted. So they kept calling on the suspects be be tried at the Hague.

I have no doubt in my mind that they made this call, thinking that it would take upto 30 years before the cases came up. They thought they would be dead by then. Sadly Ocampo wants do do it within the shortest possible time. He talks of calling these people by next year, hence the panic.

So the same politicians, who were calling for the perpetrators of the violence to be punished, are now saying they should not be punished. Sadly, even our own Prime Minister is in the same boat. Kibaki, in his true trademark style, has not uttered a word. Of course it is an open secret that Ocampo would not stop with the six people he mentioned. After all, they too will mention other names, and give evidence, And this is what worries a lot of people in kenya.

We are not through with this. I can assure you that Kenya will not co operate with Ocampo. even though they have been saying they will. One thing I can assure you is that there will be more violence in the next elections. Right now, I am ashamed to be a Kenyan.
