Ther is no doubt that Nigeria has done a lot in promoting African theatre. Nollywood is the leader and very popular. It has exposed true African beauty to the rest of the world. Right now Nollywood is co-operating with other countries in producing movies. I have seen some movies which are co-productions between Nigerian producers and East African producers, as well as Nigerian and Ghanaian movies. In face some have Nigerians speaking in Kiswahili, which is just great. That is the way to go |
The Nigeria football coach is optimistic that Nigeria will beat Kenya. I fully agree. I am a Kenyan, and I am not impressed by the preparations that Kenya has made for Harambee Stars. In fact I predict Nigeria could get double digits. There are a number of reasons why I have a very low opinion of the Kenyan football team. First wer have a German Manager whose qualification is failure everywhere he went. That includes Gambia, where he flopped, Liberia where he flopped and Lesotho, where he flopped. He was brough to Kenya due to political considerations. Our own Prime Minister brought him to Kenya. The Prime Minister Raila speaks German, having studied in the then East Germany, and is a very good friend of the German Ambassador. The previous Kenyan Coach, qwho had taken Kenya to it's present position is from the same Community as the Vice President of Kenya. The Vice President and the Prime Minister do not see eye to eye.So Hey's appointment was political. The team as was selected is full of players from the Prime Minister's community, which was not the case before. In it's preparations, Harambee Stars played against local league clubs, and even lost. These league clubs cannot even beat our neighbours. Nigeria went to Europe. With this kind of coach, and preparations, leave alone political interference, what chance does Kenya have in Abuja? Even at best of times, Kenya has never beaten Nigeria anyway. The match will be shown live on Kenyan television. and I will be cheering Nigeria all the way. |
I have not said anything in bad faith, but I speak as a professionbal. I know something about media and drama. I have been trained in Drama by the Voice of Germany, BBC and the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association. I have participated as a producer of dramma for broadcast. What I have come up with is actually a wake up call to Nigeria, and this is in very good faith. |
I am very much for Nigerian girls. In fact I have said repeatedly that tha Ghana girls in general are dumpy. I am talking about the movie girls, and Dhana seems to have learned somethings Nigeria has not. I am still for Lady T any time. No change here. As for the Edo girls and prostitution, there are those who agreed with me. And it was not my story but what was in the Press, For you information, the story came out again in October last year in CNN in a programme they called Tagged. You may wish to go and have a look at it. |

We need a Miss Africa to represent true beauty according to the context of African values. not western |
There is no doubt that Nigeria at one time, led in African movies. They also had the most beautiful actresses. But no more. Ghana has taken over. You just have to look at Nadia, Halima Abubakar, and Jackie Appiah to see that they are the most beautiful girls around. They are talented too. Genevieve Nnaji is not that active these days, but she would be no match against Nadia Bairu. Rita Dominic against Jackie Appiah? Very unfair on Rita, she is out of her class. Who would stand against Halima? Admittedly, the storylines live alot to be desired, but most of the people are now moving to Ghanaian movies because of the girls. And I know of men who are saying they will be looking for Ghanaian wives! NOLLYWOOD, MOVE OVER. GHANA HAS FINALLY ARRIVED. |
Tabu Ley, the Democratic Republic of Cong musician is ailing. Tabu Ley has been ailing for some time and has been receiving treatment in Belgium. But he has since requested his family to send him back to Kinshasa. He is on wheel chair and reports from Kinshasa indicate he is finding difficulty even in talking now. Tabu Ley is not just another musician. Tabu Ley has been on the music scene for more than 40 years, He has trained, nurtured and brought up many Congoles musicians. Together with great rival Lwambo Lwanzo Makiadi, Tabu Ley has ruled African airwaves for many years. But while many Congolese musicians became propaganda tools for Mobutu Sese Seko, Tabu Ley refused to be used as a political tool. As a result, he disagreed with Mobutu and was forced into exile. Thus Tabu Ley joined the elite group of African musicians, together with Fela Kuti of Nigeria and Miriam Makeba of South Africa, and even Bob Marley of Jamaica, as the voice of the opprressed. We can only hope that Tabu Ley gets well. Africa no longer has musicians of his type. While his music, and that of his comtemporaries will be with us for a long time, the current brand of music will fail the passage of time. Let us all pray for Tabu Ley |
The Officers who caused the rioting are the ones who shopuld have been punished. They should have paid the soldiers what they deserved. |
A group of soldiers were imprisoned for life for protesting over UN pay in Nigeria. A court Martial found the soldiers , who included 4 women, of mutiny. The soldiers had served as Peace Keepers for the United Nations. They had not been paid as expected. In fact there pay had been diverted and some officer were charged and imprisonment for imbezzlement. When the Army finally decided to pay them, they paid less than the expected amount, hence the riots by the soldiers. I certainly do not support soldiers who riot and start looting. But I honestly sympathise with these people. The people who caused these soldiers to riot wer the Army. Not only did they divert their pay, but proceeded to pay less than expected. What did they expect? DID THEY WANT THE SOLDIERS TO ACCEPT THE SMALLER AMOUNT? If indeed the soldiers had accepted the smaller amount, what would have happened to the balance? Nigeria has a poor reputation, and this is just another example. The soldiers were not treated fairly and should have been paid what was their due. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TREATED WITH MORE SYMPATHY, NOT PUNISHMENT |
It was one of these Sunday games in the UK. A player handled the ball i the penalty area, and the referee did not hesitate in pointing to the penalty spot. But just as the penalty was being taken, a player of the offending team broke wind. The penalty taker missed. The referee handed the man who had broken wind a yellow card for ungentlemanly behaviour and ordered the penalty retaken. And this time thee was a score. Was the referee correct in handing out a yellow card and ordering the penalty be retaken? |
You are right. We need more of these revelations |
A book has been released, purported to have been written by a former wife of Abasanjo, former President of Nigeria. The book talks about the infidelities and violence against the poor lady. It talks about Abasanjo, and his sexual infidelities with other peoples' wives, among others. For all we know, this may be true, and it could mark a change in the manner women of high profile figures think of their husbands' behaviours. Or it could herald an onslaught on these people by women who have been spurned. After all, Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned. There is something good about this book though. It exposes the excesses of our leaders. We suspect that these things are going on but we never talk about them for fear of reprisals. The victims, be they wives, children family members, staff or just ordinary folk, just keep quiet. They are promised some share of the power and glory of the powerful men in office and opt to keep quiet. To them, the positions are more important than the pain they have to endure. In fact some of the women, such as Grace Mugabe, actively support their husbands. It is time women and family members of these men and women holding high positions, came and told us the truth about these people. Fawning over then will not help. Some of these people are beasts and have no business being leaders. Allowing these leaders to cause suffering to their own family members can only harm the country. After all, if a leader has no respect for his own wife and family, how can he respect the rest of the society? |
That is african and traditional, no problem |
Pretty crazy, |
They do not wear heavy clothing in summer. I have been there at that time of the year, and they are more scantily dressed than we cvan accept |
Anobody can wear what he/she wants, but they must be appropriate |
The corporate world is now turning away from fullsuits to casuals. They say it increases creativity and freedom. Google started the craze And even those which still cling ti fullsuits and ties have a day when workers wear t-shirts, usually their own for advertising |
Football authorities are at it again, firing the coach and replacing him with another on the basis of another poor performance in Rwanda. They are wrong. The fault is theirs. They are the ones who should be sacked. Going back some 20 years should be a good lesson. Realising that football was on the decline, Nigeria withdrew from all international competitions and started from scratch with the junior team. The result was all there for all to see. Nigeria won the World under-17 and produced the Babayaros' Amokachis and Kanus we all admired. They went on to win the Olympic soccer gold, beating Brazil in the process. Ten the Nigerian football authorities went to slumber and bask in the glory, rather than continue with what they had started. What we now see is the steady decline. Nigeria will host the World under-17 this year, but they are not in the African under-17 being played in Algeria, something that would have been automatic in the past. Nigeria did not feature in the last World Championships, but the lesson has not been learned. Sacking of the technical bench will not save Nigeria. It is not because Nigerian players are bad; it is not because the technical bench is bad. It is because Nigerian football administration is bad. |
Kenya and Nigeria have a lot in common, apart from corruption, ofcourse. The rich and mighty in both Kenya and Nigeria have stashed millions and millions of dollars in the United Kingdom. Yes, millions of them. Most of the money is in the banks, or has been invested in real estate and shares, among others. Now these people are not satisfied with looting our coffers, they do not even have the confidence to invest the money they have looted in their own continent. And they have the nerve to ask for foreign investments. Why should foreign investors invest in Africa when the Africans will not invest in their own countries, I wonder? |
