It is a sad fact and reality, that honest and trustworthy people can never hold high positions. No one will appoint them to high position, and no one will elect them either. The simple fact is that those who wield power are not comfortable with people with principles. They want people they can manipulate. An honest person has no friends except those who are as honest as they are, and the honest ones are very few. Come election time and honest people can not be elected. The parties will not select them. The populace will not vote for them because they have no money, or will not spend money bribing voters or hiring thugs to butcher rivals or steal votes. That the honest people may be the most qualified, with the best education does not seem to matter. They will not be given the posts they deserve. The people have the tendency to complain when things go wrong, but they are at fault too. They agree to be used to achieve certain ends and aims for their godfathers who then forget about them. That is the politics of this world |
May I join all Nigerians, and the rest of Africa, and indeed the rest of the world n congratulating Nigeria, as it celebrates 50 years of independence. I know there are many challenges facing Nigeria, and to many it is just another holiday. Indeed, there are many Nigerians who may feel that the money spent in the celebrations could be put to better use. But the celebrations are a milestone, and deserve to be marked with pomp and style. The celebrations come at a time when Nigeria is gearing for elections, and Nigeria needs enlightened leadership. Nigeria has been through much in it's 50 years, military dictatorships, the Biafra war, corruption, you name it. All this should be considered as a part of growing up and a learning phase. It is through such happening that we learn how to govern ourselves. We must make mistakes in order to do the right things. So, however much disillusionment Nigerians may have, they should be proud of themselves. You have come a long way, and there is still a long way to go. GOOD LUCK, NAIJA! |
Pastor Chris Ojigbani is the founder of Covenant Singles and Married Ministries based in Lagos, Nigeria. The teachings are based on how a woman can win a man, and for mrried women, to keep the flame of love burning. Pastor Ojigbani conducts seminars in major cities. He conducted one in London before coming to Kenya recently. He has also written some books, among them, I want to Marry You, and Spiritual Warfare. He has also recorded cds and dvds with titles such as Power of Sex and The Trick of Love, all sounding like Nollywood chart bursters. His sermons in Kenya were very well attended, with an estimated audience of more than 10,000 women! ASnd the women were well prepared, complete with fake hair, fake eyebrows, fake nails, fake behinds and fake boobs. They were ambitious too. They wanted an Adonis with the deep pockets of Bill Gates, the height of a basketball player and the stamina of a porn star. The pastor did not disappoint. He told the women that the man of their dream was not yet taken, he was there for the taking. He went further, and told them that the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that at least one woman would receive four proposals before the next morning. Enterprising Kenyan men did not disappoint either. They were aware of the seminar and went to make the prophesies come true. Quit a few women believed that the prophesies were true, albeit for a short period. Nothing wrong with the Pastor and his teachings. He may indeed know something that the women don't. And he may very well succeed. Puzzle though, is why Kenyan women need a Nigerian Pastor to teach them how to get a husband. What they need more are lessons from Nigerian women. They beat Kenyan women any time. I can vouch for that |
There is this story appearing in one of the online dailies, quoting Genevieve Nnaji, as saying that she will quit acting once she ties the knot. On the face of it, this is e very reasonable decision. Genie, like a true Nigerian wife, will want to devote her attention to being a good devoted wife and mother. And there is no doubt that she will be a wonderful wife and mother. The reality, however, is something else. Gennie is not just any woman. Gennie is a talented actress. She has brought joy to many people with her acting, all over Africa. It would therefore a big loss to African film industry if she were to quit. Marriage should not be the reason for her to quit. There are many married people out there who combine marriage and other professions, among them acting. Gennie could do the same. The other reason has something to do with the kind of man she intend to marry. If she marries a celebrity type, then we have to look at the marriage from another angle. In most cases, some people marry other celebrities as a marketing and public relations thing; just a marriage of convenience to boost sagging ratings on one of the two. Gennie does not need that, but the husband could. Sadly, such marriages never last. Just ask Stephanie Okereke. I am perfectly aware of the egos of such persons too, so the husband could put preassure on Gennie to quit acting. She must resist this. Chances are, he would never have noticed her if she were not such a success. Gennie did not enter Nollywood to a husband. She did it because it is a career she loves. She should continue acting for herself. Shew also owes it to her fans worldwide |
Oluchi Onweagba is no doubt a beautiful woman. Ever since she won the Face of Africa, Oluchi has gone places, and has been a beacon of home and pride, not only for Nigeria, but the whole of Africa. Oluchi still has a lot to offer, but is she a true picture of African womanhood? Looking at her, it is obvious that the demands opf being a supermodel have turned her into a woman she should not be. She is simply too thin for anybody's taste. In my view, she is not the right role model for African womanhood. I am not saying that she should eat to become an elephant, but then I do dot think that being a mosquito suits her either. Oluchi is a very beautiful woman, and can be more beautiful. But she needs to add some flesh to her body. Too many women have made sacrifices and played worth theior bodies in modelling, only to suffer in life. Oluchi should not go the same path. It is not worth it. There are many other professions, even if they will not pay as much as she gets right now. The money is not worth it where health matters are concerned. As for her husband. Oluchi could have done better. I am not talking about her being married to a non-African, rather to the man she is married to. Unless she just married hiom for the money, in which case, she is sending the wrong message abour African women. |
That also includes young girls who take part in beauty contests. They should not have sex with the organizers in order to win, and not just Noigeria, but Kenya, Uganda, Ghana etc |
Girls need to be protected from those in power, those in position to make decision. The girls are not se objects, They are human beings |
Right |
Some time back, there was a story about Tonto Dike parading naked at a party. The sttory has it that Tonto, together with other Nollywood stars, attended a party. Tonto got drunk and took off her clothes, so the story goes. And this is what hogged the headlines. But what was really in the story did not attract much attention, and it is this area that I wish to address myself to. The story goes that the organizer of the party had colluded with some Nollywood producers to have the party, for the sole purpose of getting the Nollywood ladies get drunk so that the organizer, and maybe the producers, would have their way with the ladies without much resistance. The story has it that the producers had actually colluded with the prty organizers on this. And Tonto got drunk, just as planned. It is indicated that Ini Edo left early when she realised she was getting drunk. There is no proof that the organizer had forced sex with Tonto, but that she took off her clothes was widely covered. In my opinion, the fact that Nollywood producers would go to the extent of colluding with some one to get a group of girls drunk so that he can have sex with them is sick. How could producers stoop so low as to do such a thing? How many parties have these producers sent the girls to, just to satisfy the perverted sexual tastes of some dirty old men? This is rape, plain and simple. The girls would not be in a psition to resist. And their drinks may also be spiked. It is not a secret that some producers demand sex before they can give roles to girls. And quite a few girls have succumbed. This is wrong. Unfotunately, the whole entertainment industry, not just in Nollywood, or Nigeria, is full of sex perverts. In ghana, Yvonne Nelson complained that a producer demanded sex before he could give her a role in a movie. This is a big shame, and a blight to the Producers. |
The Government of Nigeria has ordered three jets at a cost of 150 million dollars. Three jets? I would have though that Nigerians need that money more than any other person. Or Nigeria could have donated the money to Kenya, where our politicians want a bigger paycheck. But then this is nothing new in Africa. We want to match the President of the United States. Better still, the egos of our leaders dictate that they must have more or bigger than the other presidents. That is why King Mswati of Swaziland is driven around in one of a very few Maybach car on the planet. He, too. has a jet and gets to marry a new virgin every year, who then end up sleeping with his ministers. And Swaziland is one of the poorest countries in the wiorld. I think it is unfair for the Government of Nigeria to buy even one jet at this time. It sends the wrong message. It is not the kind of image Jonathan should create for himself. And it is a bad example to the rest of Africa |
None of us have got class anyway, including you. We are all rural |
Certainly, if I had to play with Cossy. Which real man wouldn"t? |
No I would want to see her face as she reacts to stimulus |
Please, Cossy has not paid anything to me. and she does not have to. In any cae she cannot afford to pay me. O am very well paid, thank you very much I wopuld put a good word for her any time and will defend ger all the time. She needs respect too, just like all of us. She may hsvr done bad things, but deep inside she is a nice girl. All she needs is understanding. Am I asking for too much? She is human too. As Jesus said to those who brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, let the one who has not sinned be the first to throw the stone |
I will keep on talking. As a broadcaster I am paid to talk. No regrets |
I am sure there are many more who will agree with me |
There can be no doubt that Nollywod has produced girls with outstanding proportions. And there can be none other that Mercy Johnson. Here is a woman who has everything that a man would want in a woman. She has the boobs, and she has the behind. And she can walk, with all those things swaying, She has the lips which are made for kissing. She knows just what she has, and is not afraid to flaunt it. To tell the truth, you can not tell Mercy to put on anything decent, simply because everything she puts on makes her look indecently dressed! She is that good. |
Cossy Orjiakor is the most beautiful woman around. And she is well endowed too. She an accomplished actress and very passionate about her work. Of course, like all people, she is human, and human beings make mistakes. And I am sure she has done some things she regrets but haven't we all? But we have to accept that she has accomplished much in her lifetime. And because she is beautiful, she attracts all sorts of people, and she is likely to have enemies who are driven more by jealousy than anything else. I could go a bit further and say that a video put in Yu tube, was placed there by either a jilted lover, a spurned lover, or a rival who is just jealous because she does not have what Cossy has. Some call Cossy controversial, but then who isn't? We all are. Let us leave the girl alone so that she can do what she loves most. Believe me, Cossy has lots of love in her heart and she is one of the best persons to have as a friend. She is just misunderstood. The private Cossy is a wonderful person, bar none |
The sooner he goes, the better |
Yes, he should go. And the CAF leadership has everything to do with African football. It has to plan for the development of football in Africa. And that includes the national leagues. If CAF leadership supports corrtupt football administrators, there will be no good football, but big tummies. I personally thought Johnathan was on the right track. A |
Kenya politicians are at it again. They are demanding that their salaries and allowances be increased. This will mean that they will be able to take more than 12,000 dollars every month. This will make them the highest paid politicians in the world. They already enjoy tax-fre perks. They are known to armtwist the Government to get what they want, even with strong opposition from the tax-payers. With a referendum looming in a month's time, they hope to force the Government to agree to their demand else they will campaign against the new constitution, and vote to paralyze Government activities. We do not earn much on average. Most of us do with lass that 2 dollars oer day. We will try to resist as much as we can, but since most politicians know they will not be voted back, we will still lose. They will get their big pay. |
Hayatou has been at the helm of CAF for the last 20 years. You would have expected him to have taken steps to strengthen the African Premier leagues, But he has not. Africa still continues to rely on the European leagues to produce world-class players. Africa did not do well at the World Cup, held for the first time in Africa, mainly because of the weakness of the leagues in Africa. Until the premier leagues in Africa become stronger, Africa will continue to be described as a developing continent with potential and talent, produce individual brilliant players, but will never win the World Cup, whether in Africa or anywhere else. It is time Hayatou left the game to some other person with a vision to develop African soccer in Africa, so that it can compete with the best anywhere. Then we will win the World Cup |
I watched the Nigerian- Argentina game too. Like most Africans.I was disappointed by the loss. I was pretty sure that Nigeria would beat Argentina, or get a draw. The goalkeeper was at his best and may have saved Nigeria some blushes. Nigeria still has great players, but have yet to form a great team. If they play as a team, as they did some years back, the team will get far. They still have a chance to redeem themselves |
You may be right, because if we had strong juju, we would win everything there was to win |
I agree, but these Europeans must come up with some stereotype |
Juju in soccer has reared it's head yet again, and as usual, it is the African teams which are on the receiving end/ Ot syaryed with a FIFA official who indicated that African players would use some African medicine, which in not on the list of banned drugs to boost their performance. And now Maradona, the coach of Argentuna has hinted at some African countries using juju to overcome their opponents. We all know which country is in the same group with Argentina, so we do not have to go far to know the team they have in mind. And Argentina has a right to be scared of African teams. Somewhere, I remember they lost to a nine-man African team. I believe they are just crying foul so that they can justify their loss. Argentina will lose to a better team, not because of juju. GO! NIGERIA. GO! |
I do make mistakes whan I type ina hurry and have to deal with many other posts |
That is exactly what I meant |
I also believe that my country is a failed state, I must admit I would rather be in Nigeria than in my country |
