IfnobeGod20:
You're just trying hard to justify leadership inadequacy and this won't help Nigeria to grow. As at the time Buhari pumped over $25b into revamping the refineries were there no subsidy payment. Stop all these justification my brother. At least there was still subsidy payment till Buhari left in May, 2023.
Let's even come to reality here, please who told you that Tinubu's government not still paying subsidy till we are speaking here. Many people have come out to challenge them that they are paying subsidy stylishly and they have not for once denied that.
Do you also know that the amount they have expended to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal has over weighed the amount spent on subsidy since 2023. Trillions have gone for palliative without result in sight. Till date they are still sharing palliative because of the attendant repercussion of subsidy removal that have pushed many into poverty line and toll tomorrow they will still share palliative, except this issue of inflation is overcome quickly.

Meanwhile, are you saying those cabal are more powerful than the government or what are you insinuating? This is serious if you think non state actors can be so powerful than constituted authority. Mr. Man, nobody is power than the government, except the government doesn't have their time or feign nonchalant about them. This is the reason I said they transfer their inadequacy to the citizens while the citizens now facing the brute.

The way you're comparing the issue of immigrants to corrupt individuals is giving me concern. Come to think of it, US and UK have not relented in cracking down immigrants to their country, then, you now ask what has Nigeria government done on those cabal till date? They instead pat them at the backs to do more.
Again, at least we have heard Trump resolved to deport all illegal immigrants and he vowed that nothing can change it. You then ask, what can't Tinubu be bold to fight those cabal with his authority than this antipeople policy in favour of the few that may not be more than 200 people but subjecting over 200m to ache and making over 130m to drop below poverty line. Does that make sense to any reasonable human being?

I won't dispute that government may be subsidising some agriculture products that may not get to the end users but you ask, how many of these products are they subsidising? 1. Can they subsidise labourers working in the farm that have inflated their labour price?
2. Are there tractors that are readily available that have been subsidised for farmers?
3. Are the fertiliser readily available at government outlets and at how much?
4. How many agrochemicals do government subsidised for farmers?
5. Which farm implements do government made available at subsidised rate?
6. Which finishing equipment do government made available?
Are these are critical issues that I have not seen in my domain as a farmer. Farmers around me are all doing everything by themselves without government input anywhere.

Yes, there are no easy fix to the economy but you don't punish the masses because not the few raping the common patrimony. It makes no sense and this is where Tinubu and all that says they will remove subsidy missed it.

To the issue that all of them says they would remove subsidy. Yes, everybody can say they would go to Sokoto but do you know one can decide to use road transport, another can decide to board plane while another can decide to make use of water transportation and funnily another one can decide to still make use of road but have stop over on the road because of the distance and continue the next day or hours. Everyone has approaches to do things my brother. You can claim because all of them say they will remove subsidy and claim they will all do it the same. There's what is called policy somersault. A policy can somersault and as an administrator, you must be ready for that and adjust your policy. Tinubu didn't consider that but only adamant because IMF told him to remove subsidy to get their loan. Today he has gotten their loans but has the removal of subsidy help the nation positively or increase the purchasing power of the people? IMF itself had even said the subsidy removal wasn't working for the country or you didn't read that last year?

Besides, are you aware that Tinubu was part of those that didn't allow the subsidy to be removed in 2012? If GEJ had been adamant that time, you know the attendant deaths the country would have recorded as the protest was spreading like wild fire then. As he allowed people to exercise their fundamental right but in Tinubu's own people were intimidated and beaten not to protest and police even blocked protesters in a democratic setting. What a shame. This just tells you that Tinubu's ambition supersedes national interest. Meaning he was fighting to undermined Jonathan's government and not because the love he has for the people. If he was doing it for the love of the citizens, he will not turnaround to eat his own vomit.
You are only angry cos it's tinubu......subsidy still being paid to whom by whom.....don't rely on infantile unsubstantiated beer parlour rumours.....you would believe anything no matter how ridiculous as long as it puts tinubu in bad light.

What has your state gov done in alleviating the suffering of your people, how many CNG buses has he provided to ease the cost of transportation, how many schools has your gov equipped to standard or built to provide cheap education for children, how many hospitals, how much as your gov invested in agric......but everything is tinubu despite huge allocations going to your govs.

Agric is directly under the purview of your state gov.....FG has no lands belong to the state.....what's stops you gov from buying 10 tractors for each LG to boost agriculture, how many irrigation projects.....the FG is doing a lot to support agric but you see those state civil servants they are the real devil just as the FG is giving people palliatives to share to the masses but they would hoard it and go and keep in private warehouses....that's why most of all these things don't get to the farmers directly.....but everything is tinubu.

What would obi have done differently.. if you want subsidy to remain, you have to keep borrowing.....your analogy of fighting corruption is at best pedestrian and impractical,if everyone were to go in for corruption you would be shocked even your own relatives and friends would be involved.....why fight everyone when you could just kill the subsidy monster itself.,that is a very wise way to go about it......do you know how many people collected monies from GEJs anchor borrowers or buhari's agric funds without returning a dime and didn't even use it for what it was intended I guess you would say tinubu should go after all those ones too and jail them.....how many people do you think would be involved.

Mr. Man, it is curious to you because you think revamping of refineries can be done with 2 years. Mr. Man, it was Buhari since his first term that have been pumping money into revamping the refineries and not Tinubu. Buhari spent not less than $25b into those moribund refineries as declared by the outgoing 9th senate. Or you may want us to know how much Tinubu has invested into revamping those refineries. It was solely the handiwork of Buhari but no doubt since governance is continuum he takes the glory because he can claim it was APC legacy.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2023/06/09/sule-buhari-spent-over-19bn-on-fixing-refineries-in-eight-years-without-results/&ved=2ahUKEwi4neflv-CKAxXRVUEAHUg3LcAQFnoECBcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0i8a99vHEpb9SfbYWCs7UI
This was what outsider said on the amount Buhari pumped into revamping the refineries, you can get that in the link above ($19b) while the senate said it was $25b.
Now, can we know how much Tinubu invested to bring the refineries to function.

My brother, nothing is subsidise in this country as at today. Everything that was once subsidised as been removed from this wicked government. Even the waiver they claimed they will give on some foreign goods had not been implemented till date and that is why you see virtually everything is skyrocketed. You heard when one of the die hard supporter of Tinubu, Joe Igbokwe lamenting of the hike in the electricity tariff few months ago.
Please which of the agriculture? I am a farmer. The chemical that was buying before for ₦2,500, last year I bought it ₦6,000. The only product that doesn't increase is force up. It stood at ₦3,500 for two year now. The rest have gone either doubled or tripled. Fertiliser cannot come by again. A 5kg fertiliser is almost ₦15,000. Cosy of heaping the same. Please say what you know and stop this hyping that has put us in a sorry state.

You see how you ended up implicating Tinubu. As GEJ and Iweala was shouting of the subsidy to be removed, was it not Tinubu and his gang that frustrated the move in 2012, which was even easier then because of the oil boom. Now the economy has been bastardized that he removed it, not taking to cognizance the economy impact of the crawling citizens.

Meanwhile, nothing any of you, even the leaders can tell me on the issue of subsidy that I will take because they left what they suppose to do and chasing shadows. Those inflating the subsidy amount and surchanging the destinies of the people are those they suppose to face frontally and also revamp the refineries but they left them and punishing the downtrodden.

Again, the bureaucracy has not yet stopped till date, Tinubu still continue in spending riotously and frivolously with no consideration of the economy situation. Cost of governance is still at a very high side, even higher in his government. Then, you ask what is the difference between his government and the former. Nothing but even worse.
If there was still subsidy, those refineries still wouldn't work.....if it was easy to face the subsidy fraudsters, trust me any govt would have, only if it was that easy......the same subsidy thieves are the ones bankrolling all this campaign of calumny against tinubu trying to get him to return the subsidy.....talking about corruption fighting back.....if you haven't held public office before you wouldn't know how terrible corruption has eating deep into the fabric if this country.....it's easy to say arrest the subsidy thieves, how many do you want to arrest and how many do you want to prosecute.....the best thing to do was to pull the plug on the monster itself to kill it rather than fight it......America with all her advancement hasn't been able to stop narcotics smuggling or illegal migration even terrorism.....that's to show you how hard it is to fight some vices.

You acclaim you are a farmer,I wouldn't want to dispute that but I will tell you a million times over, there is subsidy from the govt going into agriculture but I would agree it's of little effect due to corruption.....inputs are being massively subsidised but it's same people who would go buy from the govt at cheap rates and resell to you at higher rates,it's public knowledge,it's as clear as day.........this is primarily because that sector is unorganised and there isn't adequate data on the farmers themselves and what they are doing.....the corruption goes as deep as the heads of the farmers associations themselves.

Your electricity is being subsidised....if it wasn't you would be paying far more than you are paying right now,go to Cotonou just next door to us and go see how much they pay for their electricity, you would know you are enjoying here.....it's easier to condemn but govt is doing a lot but it's corruption that's our bane in this country.

Nigeria's problems did not start with tinubu,we are over 4 decades behind in our economic development and how's that tinubu's fault.....anyone who comes to you to tell you there are easy fixes to our economic problems is telling you lies.....same thing tinubu is facing now was what GEJ was afraid of that the people won't give him a second term if he removed subsidy, sacrificing national interest for his personal interest, hows that tinubu's fault......that's why we voted tinubu because we knew he was the man with the balls to drive those hard reforms whether anyone likes it or not.....even obi and atiku all campaigned subsidy had to go.....so why hating Tinubu for doing same.

IfnobeGod20:
All over the world, countries subsidise one thing or the other for the citizens. It's never a new thing for a country to subsidise product for her citizens, especially if that product is an essential community for the citizens and its price can impact of the citizens very well. You may not have read your own economy to that extent and that is why you're supporting antipeople policy that have made more poorer people than bargained for.

Do you know how much it would cost to bring that huge number of people out of the poverty line again. A reasonable leaders would have frontally confront the cabal milking the nation than transferring their inadequacy to the citizens and also quickly revamp and build new refineries to incapacitate the cabal because that would have literally removed the subsidy the government is talking about that takes away huge government revenue.

This is what someone like us has been saying for long. Build and revamp these refineries and the subsidy will fizzle out automatically. It that not what we are experiencing now, that the price of PMS is slicing with the coming onboard Dangote refinery and the revamping of Port Harcourt and Warri refineries. Simple economy sense, now become so difficult for leaders and some supporters of government because of politics.

The big question now, how to lift those that have been dipped into poverty out. Lifting them out is now a huge task because inflation still creeping the system with prices of goods and services still much high.

You guys should try and be applying brake, it's not everything you hail government for. There are some issues that required common sense which the government of the day may not know but hailing them make them not to know the more but correcting them make them to know. It's not out of place to lead any leader for the good of the country but blindly following them brings a disastrous end.
Your electricity is being subsidised and still a major reason why you haven't been able to get real investments in that sector.....a lot of subsidy goes into agriculture though of very little effect due to the corruption in that space but that is currently being addressed as a lot of focus is now directed in that regard.

Isn't it curious that why is it when subsidy was removed we got 3 refineries up in less than 24 months when we had been at it for over 2 decades..... doesn't that tell you something......for those who are familiar with the industry, the cry had always been that the subsidy regime was degenerative to the industry, govt and the people on the long run but the layman on the streets wouldn't see this all he wants is cheap petrol.

Subsidy removal isn't the singular cause of the inflation we are experiencing but the devaluation of our currency which was also being subsidised to keep it at the artificial low rate it was.....also we aren't producing enough for our immediate needs how did you expect the economy to grow.....it's easier for laymen and the poor to keep screaming blue murder than fir them to have the foresight to see that the economy was headed the wrong way and it takes a president with balls to try to redeem the situation with hard hitting reforms.

The Nigerian economy was living on borrowed tine and the earlier you stop the haemorrhaging the better that was what GEJ and madam iweala were shouting about over a decade ago that we couldn't continue with subsidy.

Peter Obi schooled Tinubu on governance and leadership. Only sycophants and fools will come out to say something different. People like Reno are the reasons our leaders are not performing and why our nation is backward. These the AGIP (Any Govt In Power) sycophants

Highlights of Peter Obi's pres conference
1. Stop foreign medical tourism
2. Stop foreign visits without positive results
3. Spend holidays in Nigeria, not just Lagos, visit Sokoto, Niger, Adamawa, Bornu
4. Go and see first hand what goes on in IDPs
5. Stem the highest form of poligrafy and corruption, by showing leadership
6. Visit soldiers in battle ground states to boost their morale
7. Stop borrowing to fund non-generative projects that cannot pay for themselves.
8. You are no longer governor Lagos, but president of Nigeria
9. Reduce cost of governance and focus on production rather than consumption
10. Go and visit our higher institutions, and see their hosteks and toilets. These are places our future leaders are being trained in squalor rundown environments
11. Stop using proxies to address Nigerians. Be courageous to face the press quarterly and tell Nigerians what you are doing.
12. Nigerians are hungry due to poor leadership. We are now having over 100m poorest of the poor and 150m in multi dimensional poverty
1. Why doesn't obi go for medical care in the hospitals he built in Anambra.

2. How do you address the bad publicity Nigeria had been getting over the years from insecurity and corruption....a countries best sales man is the president himself.....investors need direct assurances.
*Saudi Arabia is already committing $1.2b to agric
*Brazil $2.5b in livestock and dairy in Niger state.
*UAE has already normalised economic relationship with Nigeria such as visa issuance and return of Emirates airline.

3.How many places in Anambra has obi spent his holidays apart from Agulu, even his family don't reside there .....IBb,abdusalami stays in Minna,Gowon stays in Jo's,obi stays in Abeokuta.

4.Allocations are being made for IDPs and there are govt officials superintending that......handouts and aid are being sent on a regular basis....the president can't be everywhere every time.

5.All the ministers and even govs have attested to tinubu's hands-on approach to governance which had been lacking in previous administrations, even GEJ had to hand the economy over to madam iweala.

6.All the time Buhari and GEJ visited troops what changed, didn't the security situation get worse ....all a president needs to is to motivate from the top by providing the necessary funds to combat insurgency..... equipments are being bought regularly, welfare has just been improved and the minister of defence and Coas have all in different times relocated to the theatre of battle hence the successes we have recorded lately.

If you understand how an economy is run you would see how pedestrian this your logic is......there is no way you can run this comatose economy without resulting to borrowing, how do you do that with a debt servicing to revenue ratio of 98% which he has succeeded in bringing down to about 64%.......you want to drive up the economy, you need funds which the govt doesn't have thereby resulting to borrowing.....our refineries just got working why not wait for atleast another year to see the effects of that.

8. I really don't understand what he means by that statement,I see that as a misplaced inference bourne out of sentimentalism......obi has no point.

9. There isn't anyway you can do this without throwing people out in the labor market and that's really impractical this difficult times .....he has already mentioned that those traveling with him must be reduced, ministers have been limited to 3 aides, this and many more are some of the things but I would atleast agree with obi that a lot still has to be done in that regard.

19.this to me is pointless,we all know how presidential visits anywhere in Nigeria is cosmetic without getting to see the defective things ....that also would be an unnecessary huge cost that can be saved for other things .....what the universities need is proper funding and autonomy and they would be fine.....do you even have any idea how many tertiary institutions we have in Nigeria..... This is another of Obi's pedestrian parlous trader mentality,a country doesn't run on sentimentalism.

11. Another pointless distraction.....obi is the one that enjoys the limelight and can spend a whole day talking in front of cameras.....Nigerians don't need to be seeing the presidents face everyday, what they need is action......we just had a media chat some weeks ago.

12. Poverty is everywhere and I have never seen any hard working Nigerian who has something doing who is hungry.......even a pure water seller doesn't go to bed hungry.

Public admin isn't has pedestrian or easily comprehensible to the layman.......you need to get your economy first on a strong footing then your citizens can then begin to reap the rewards.....we are over 4 decades behind in our economic development and if we seek to grow something has to give, china didn't get where they are today eating rice and beans and driving benzs.....they had to sacrifice.

Nigerians started car spare parts business in Ghana decades ago and they are still leading

Phones and accessories in Ghana also, Nigerians have overtaken

Don't even let's talk about Banking and real estate which Nigerians are also dominating in Ghana

Even stationeries/ books e.t.c, a family friend is one of those leading that line of business in Ghana

Stay updated instead of dropping bunkum for us on this forum
Only if you know how many Nigerian youths both male and female living in that country.

True, there is so much potential untapped in the entertainment industry, but thank God the state govt is also trying to invest in that sector with the film village coming up in epe and the yearly Lagos countdown which was started by the previous govt and now continued by successive government.

Indeed Lagos is blessed with visionary leaders who recognise the potential of the youth and taking advantage of the huge Lagos population.
When you have peace and security, any place can thrive....Nigeria has a huge youth demography bustling with energy.....even pure water sellers all cashed out from these activities......the plan would be to make it bigger and better.
