ivandragon:Once beaten twice shy.....that's why we won't allow an obi to come distract us from the goals of reform with his sugar coated rants of having the solution to Nigeria's problems....better late than never. |
ivandragon:You should stop being angry tinubu is ignoring your short sighted vindictive opposition to his much needed reforms but rather be angry with GEJ for lacking the temerity to push ahead with his reforms at the time.....he would have been vindicated by now. |
MadPolitician:Mr you know it all,did it take china barely a year to achieve all this you mentioned.....has tinubu or the APC been ruling Nigeria since independence like the Chinese cppc......how much sacrifice did the Chinese people have to make to achieve the feats you are attesting to today. By the 60s and 70s when china was putting in the hard work,we were already driving benzs and RRs all over town importing rice, cement, tooth picks and toilet paper with our petrol dollars.....the rural china developed china this it was a bottom up approach, what did we do,we abandoned our farms and cottage industries and started living frivolous city lives .......tell us the percentage of Chinese who were living in luxury at the time and binging on imported goods. You should also kindly expatiate on how tinubu is responsible for the decades of economic decadence which we are currently suffering the outcomes. |
CodeTemplar:A car dealer in Kano would charge VAT on imported cars he sells and remits to the Kano govt,a phone seller would charge VAT for what he sells and remits to the state govt......the states needs to develop their states so more people can be socially and economically empowered to consume......I should be able to leave Lagos and go live in yobe if an opportunity arises without fear of being killed or suffer for lack of basic amenities. |
richmond500:China's economy was controlled as against ours where it's free market.....if we were to enact the policies done by China at the time, people like you would have been crying how evil tinubu is. Neighbouring Ghana went through same radical reforms during the Rawlings years where the economy was totally recessed but they had to dig themselves out of it and a lot of positives can be seen afterwards.....or you were part of that too? |
CodeTemplar:How is vat paid, isn't it after consumption, I don't get your warped logic......a state should get VAT based on what it's citizens consume which is what this reform is addressing. Lagos is getting so much VAT just cost the major corporations a domiciled there and Kano is getting a lot more just because it's got more LGAs without commensurate consumption to justify it's huge allocation. |
israel90:Yes!! We are not procrastinators,we believe in him because he was the best by miles of the 4 candidates in the last elections......he already told us what he was going to do and he is already walking his talk.....obi and atiku also made subsidy removal and currency liberalisation a major plank of their campaign but we trusted tinubu more by being the most pragmatic of them all and the most prepared for the arduous task ahead. You can go ahead and properly your candidate for 2027,tinubu would defeat him again and again. |
NaijaNaWaa:That was just a photo shoot and not the traditional wedding, who wears a nurse's outfit to her own traditional wedding.....bros be calming down. |
prickursense:The dynamics are different.Argentina 's economy isn't as disjointed and comatose as ours and you don't have the kind of ethnic and religious sentiments as we have here. Where would you have those huge number if civil servants go when your economy is in a terrible recession, keeping those civil servants despite majority doing nothing is still considered part of the latent welfarist policies of the Nigerian govt,no matter how annoying it is. I agree govt spending has to be checked as it's too excessive considering the limited resources available but they are all guilty and not just tinubu. There isn't any subsidy being paid currently in petrol as there is absolutely no reason to and also there isn't any currency in the world that's on a free float, those who tried it found themselves in hot water but it's foolhardy for any govt to over value it's currency when you do not have commensurate production capacity to complement it......doing such would be basically subsidising imports to the detriment of your own economy......we really need to get these 2 barriers out the way firstly so as to free up resources and channel into productivity. |
MadPolitician:Do you know how much concession china had to give to foreign investors to attract them.....yes the yuan doesn't float because China has a robust reserve to defend it just as the US does with the dollar.....I bet you would have had a fit if your Nigerian govt introduced the baby boomers policy like china found expedient at the time, what would you call that,a comfortable policy, right? Average Chinese at some point couldn't even own cars or houses but you want to feel overtly entitled to the easy life without putting in work..... people leave hectares of land in their villages and come to the cities to start riding bikes and keke, everyone wants to seat in air conditioned offices and no one wants to do the dirty jobs of industries. You encourage govts that were borrowing to pay subsidy so you could have cheap petrol so you can gallivant everywhere for some of the most unproductive reasons, borrowing monies in billions monthly to defend your naira so you can have cheap dollars to import everything including tooth picks and toilet paper..... remember GEJ and madam okonjo warned you that the economy was going to tank out the bottom if you continued with this frivolous lifestyle as a country......we were living a lie all along, Nigeria isn't a rich country. |
richmond500:Go and read about the Chinese reforms and what the people suffered, china didn't grow into prosperity by driving benzs and lexus's or building mansions and flying private jets.....not by riding okada or keke and buying cheap petrol so you can go to parties and vacation abroad. |
OkCornel:Terrorism and banditry is getting the attention needed and there are obvious results. Our finances as a nation are getting better than tinubu met it.....debt servicing to revenue ratio, foreign reserves, higher savings from subsidy removal and Forex liberalisation. Higher crude oil production. Local refining of crude and export. Balance of trade with a surplus declared in 2024,first time since before the oil boom. Increased investment in the oil and gas sector which wasn't forthcoming with the past administration. Student loans which would go a long way in helping many parents and students. LG autonomy. Tax reform bill. These and many more are a few pointers that tinubu is on the right track and things can only look upwards. |
Bondinus:Like you are being sent to keep attacking tinubu without thinking. |
OkCornel:In your copious myopia, you expect 6 decades of degenerative economic policies and dysfunctional statehood to be transformed in just over a year.....how? |
richmond500:It took china over 4 decades of grit and pain to get where they are today.....the Asian tigers never had it easy to get where they are today..... economic development isn't a tea party. |
Racoon:If hunger is all you see, that would continue to be your portion. |
Pinethree3:It's normal to have an economic downturn when radical reforms are being made....go read up on thatcher's policies in the 80s UK or Roosevelt's marshal plan during the recession years in America, better still China's backward reintegration policy of the 60s upto the 90s.....but look at those countries afterwards, there is no way we can move forward without these radical reforms. |
Bobloco:These things are normal and expected with the ground breaking reforms introduced by this govt such as removal of petrol subsidy and devaluation of the currency.....those in export business are smiling right now and also those at the bottom of the agric value chain has never had it this good,I can personally attest to this. It's now cheaper for a Togolese or Cameroonian to come to ABA to buy textiles or shoes than to import directly from Asia. |
givedemwotowoto:This VAT issue is just being unduly over flogged......VAt should be consumption based, with the MTN statistics of 200b monthly as an example. if Kano or Abia can get more people who use MTN,they will get a higher percentage of the consumption within their states as VAT instead of Lagos earning more for having just their HQ domiciled there. Alcohol consumption for instance, how can a northern state that prohibits it's consumption earn more VAt on that commodity than a southern state where it isn't prohibited just because the northern state has higher population and LGAs. This policy would only engender states to be more productive and attract investments by making there states secure, you can not be breeding potential terrorist by not providing good education and health facilities and expect the rest of the country to keep funding your negligence. |
mrrandomguy:They could equally charge VAT on kidnapping and banditry.....2.1 trillion noh be beans o!! |
okeyley:Also ghadaffi would have been of great help only if he was alive. |
NaijaNaWaa:How about chioma's professional gear,is that Igbo too? Just say it that you are bitter he is looking more Yoruba than Igbo,no one will kill you for not appreciating universality of culture....yorubas have also borrowed something's from Igbo culture and vice versa......I wouldn't mind spotting an isi agwu anyday despite being non Igbo. |
free2ryhme:He is adding hospital to his hospitality vendoring. |
santopelele:I like his Yoruba cap.....looks nice on him!! |
BigDawsNet:Go back to school but this time ensure it's a better school than the sweat houses you attended so you can go learn basic economics, specifically what currency devaluation means and reasons why govts take such decisions......it's best not to disgrace your parents any further. |
LeeSmart:What Femi just said up there is absolute bunkum!! He must be high on Sudanese tea......you sustain a dysfunctional system all in the name of helping the poor, then go a borrowing and printing naira like tissue paper which is one of the major cause of the economic crises we are going through right now. |
Jovi10:You would have just said you do not understand what's be said and many knowledgeable ones here would have helped explain to you rather than you disgracing your self and family. |
ComeToJesus:Yeah....it's no longer the backward locality you used to know. |
Wisdomkosi:He is about to be the public enemy number one to his brother's from the east. |
And what did all of you do with the knowledge gathered from the equipment.....educational backwardness, poverty, out of school children, terrorism, banditry, subsistent livestock management, crude agricultural practices, poor health care etc |
Namaster:He is the Emmanuel,I can bet !! |
Stolen:Go back to school and study what currency devaluation means and how it works......it's very funny how you guys confidently showcase your ignorance and chestbeat on your stupidity..... difficult to understand how you lot gloat over fallacies. |
