It's not that bad.
bloatware is also commonly used to refer to preinstalled software on a device, usually included by the hardware manufacturer, that is mostly unwanted by the purchaser.

To some people, basically any app apart from the core apps is bloat ware.
If you're tech savvy you can root your device and uninstall the bloat ware, you can also do away completely with the preloaded firmware and flash a custom ROM.

There's no difference in performance.
The branded phones just have brand names on them, and may have carrier bloatware.
Apart from that there's little difference.
