I've always not been far away bro. Don Cipher: @lokzie been a while... |
@Justwise, I apologise if you found my post(on my other handle) 'offensive', it is not in my nature to get involved in breaking 'rules' however,if you are going to punish me, at least let me know my crime. You not only hid my post but you banned me and I'm not sure if it was a mistake or intentional. However,Kindly re-evaluate my 'offence' and consider there were neither prior warnings nor a history of committing whatever my crime was. I hereby ask that you release my other handle. Many Thanks |
@TRV and all. Maybe he stands a chance, but he would need to have proof of experience and maybe as lilaowow suggested, some certifications already. A very good statement of purpose with relevant work experience and certifications can increase his chances to 80-90% given all other conditions and of course GOD's GRACE
Hi Joe, You are saying something different from what I said. Please read my post again (just try and do it). I didn't ask him to go to an M Eng immediately and he (skulboy didn't say that). My first degree is in Electrical Engineering but I have built a career in a different field. All I am saying in simply english is if you have work experience, maybe some cerifications and training in a field, you can purse a career in that field irrespective of first degree. If you apply to a highly competitive program in a top school, you will see how all these criteria are taken into consideration. Having said that, if the case is not as Skulboy stated but as your example, I agree with you, he wud has even a lower chance @ getting the admission sef. Anyway I based my statement on Skulboy's case not your example
|
DSTV transmitts on a very susceptible frequency band the Ku-Band. look it up on wikipedia, let me not derail the thread.
This is a good question and I would like the experts to give us clear answer. It happens both in Ghana, Nigeria, Gambia and every other West African country, I have no clue why it is so. And in all these countries i mentioned, even DSTV/cable signal will be affected when it rains or when there is thunderstorm. Our technicians and engineers, over to you guys...
|
You have a point, your statement is the ideal thing but the protectors in Nigeria are mostly not working. At least as at when i did my final year project in Power Outage Analysis. If the automated systems are not working, they result to manual preventive means. bigtt76: PHCN do not shut power off during the rains rather the in-built circuit breaker on the grid system turns off. This is as a result of the live wires touching each other or rain droplets (water is a good conductor) which when drops on exposed transformers. I deduce this from the fact that, sometimes during the rains, you still have power even during storms and at other times you see it flickers with the wind. This is not discounting the fact that they purposely turn off the grid to prevent the dangers of electrocution from fallen poles and wires. Saying this, we've had cases of people being electrocuted after the rains from fallen cables .....I see no sense in 'preventive' switching off the grids if there are no system in place to detect such breaches in safety. |
The main reason they do is due to Power system protection techniques to prevent a major outage (one you will hate more). They shut out the power to protect the system from lightning strikes and since surge can be millions of volts when there is a lightning strike, and the government has refused to invest on lightning arrestors, there is no other alternative but to shutdown. |
lol. i laugh |

I really think i should clarify this. i don't TOTALLY agree with Spencer and slamdunk, and i hope i am allowed to. i will do this in a civil way. Background: Invisible transfer: normal transfer any customer makes to any beneficiary without disclosing the full details of the transfer Visible transfer: transfers for payment of invoiced goods and services - You can use a FORM A (for school fees) or form M (for payment of imports and all) We are concerned with School fees so i will explain how and when we can use either of invisible or visible transfers for this but first, There is an existing CBN circular that limits weekly internation funds transfers to USD10,000 per individuals and states that any cash lodgement of >= USD10,000 can only be withdrawn by OTC (over the counter) transactions. ie. once i pay in USD10,000 CASH or more through ONE deposit slip, i cannot transfer that particular fund, i must withdraw it over the counter. ways around this is by breaking the payments into parts not exceeding USD9,999.99 each but please note even with this you can only transfer a maximum of USD10,000/week.This means that if you must do it this way and you want to pay say USD15,000 then week 1 transfer USD10,000 and after that week you can do the next. Week in the case means Mon-Fri so you can transfer on firday like today and then on monday next week. Form A (visible transfer) you need to fill out a form A @ your bank and provide the invoice/ bill the school gave you for your fees, if you are an undergrad, provide the bank with you O'levels, postgrad a copy of your undergrad- These are CBN policies and any bank that circumvents this would be penalized if CBN detects this. My conclusions: CBN policy doesn't hinder anyone from paying school fees even if it is USD75,000 for Harvard MBA. Also, the weekly limit was relaxed recently but the Banks have to get approval from CBN for pre-listed customer's who require weekly transfers over USD10,000. Note: if the lodgement into an account is an inflow (wire transfer) you can transfer any amount even with an Invisible transfer means. Cheers spencer3705: ignorance of law is not an excuse.thank God u scale through.i understand ur point very well abt the issue of money laundring bla bla cos av passed tru dis stage.d fact remains dat d maximum u can transfer is 5kdollars with 2 percent charges on it.if u wana transfer 10k dat means u split by sending it twice.it goes like dat.people have been sending 15k dolls without coming up wit bank restriction like ur case.d bank is aware dat d money is for ur tuition and is meant 4 a real purpose.in my own opinion,i doubt ur point and i can stand dat u were unable 2 pay full cos u cudnt meet up due to certain reason best known to u.guys please dnt buy dis idea by teling cdhc money laundring of a tin cos dat wudnt solve isue.if u plead dis and some1 comes up by payin 13k full tuition receipt and tenders it to cdhc, havent u implic8td ursef already? @house I want to commend everyone for their input to this forum and I also want to commend Don Cipher, who I believ has an objective, mature and professional way of articulating and communicating his views. Let's not type things we would be ashamed of later on. Cheers |
@Invincible1 What school are you applying to |
Dalriada1: Good day my people, please I need your assistance. I am applying from outside country. Someone said I need to fill details of NYSC in the form 1294E under background information. The phrase says 'including non-obligatory national service' NYSC is obligatory so DO NOT FiLL MILITARY experience unless of course you have one outside NYSC. Therefore you would not require the schedule 1 form |
frankysteve: @lokzieI submit my application to VFS on the 31 of July.Am still waiting for them. |
my assumption was that if he submitted on 31st July, it got to the High Commission at least the next day-August 1. However,it wasn't a statement made categorically. let's just chill and pray our applications are successful. quote author=AugustApplicant] Please can you explain better what you mean by "I guess we only have August, September and October (as far as today) O/S as at today"? If what you mean is that CDHC is now looking at these months, I dont think so because Frankysteve submitted July and haven't heard from CDHC
|
Happy for you bro. go and achieve your dreams of Quality World class education. Cheers spencer3705: Hello house |
Alright so I guess we only have August, September and October (as far as today) O/S as at today. I pray we hear goodnews and soon too. frankysteve: @lokzieI submit my application to VFS on the 31 of July.Am still waiting for them. |

@All Is there anyone who submitted after July 13th but in the month of July who is still expecting Medicals? i want to assume that all early July applicants have been contacted. |
The stanbicibtc code is wrong. Kindly refer to any Stanbicibtc IBTC Branch or call 0700-CALL-STANBIC |
AugustApplicant: Thanks Jare. Mine is just 5weeks, I should worry less. Submitted August 31st@August, if you submitted 31st, yours is 6weeks today not 5weeks. mine is 8weeks today. God will make us smile in Jesus name. Cheers |
Last night,as i was driving out of church, an olde rman-old enough to be my dad- was 'parked'in front of me (blocking my way through the gate) and i flashed my headlights at him. I personally wouldn't take offence if a kid not yet born does that to me in 30yrs time but i want to know what Nigerians think |
kennyGGG: Mr what haven't you heard before that its me that must tell you? I uploaded it for all to see. Not sure I have seen anyone did that. pls pls plsLike i said, i don't want to offend you, just airing my thoughts. *Smiles* Wish you the best dear. Jokzoh,Lillaowow,Efosa & Augustapplicant we all have August in common so maybe we should bond more *smiles* |
Hello Kenny, I don't mean to be rude and i hope you don't misunderstand this. But i don't think it's fair to tantalize us with info and then hold it back. Just keep things to yourself it you don't want to share. if i didn't get to learn from others and have to opportunity to share as well, i probably wouldn't still be on this thread- i think i speak for a number of people here. Please don't be offended and i am not trying to deride you but please be discrete with your hoarding info so others aren't encouraged to follow suit. if they were here (the people you are scared of) they would think you aren't being totally honest as per your variations and vacillations. Cheers |
congrats Kenny & Goddeymydear. God really dey and i hope we will one day be congratulated on this thread in Jesus name. |
@All - On the issue of land. Let's be objective and try and reason in the line of the VOs. If someone is 'saving' a land, it most likely means there are long-term plans. In accounting, Land is a fixed asset and would usually be classed with long term assets. Now when an entity sells land and property to finance short-term project, it has liquidity issues. My conclusion is land is more likely a tie than proof of funds, if you 'suggest'you wanna sell your land, you undermine your case. Having said that, every case is viewed independently by the VOs.plan, prepare and pray. Cheers |
Ok, here's some more info. i just noticed the page to download all study permit forms on CDHC website was updated recently -Date Modified: 2012-01-09 (September 1 2012). see http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/forms_study-formulaires_etude.aspx?view=d so if you are yet to submit your application but downloaded the forms before September 1 2012, you may need to check you have filled the current forms.Hope someone finds this helpful Cheers lokzie: Not sure when it did but it was there in August and is currently on the CDHC site. i know some people download the documents and gather all they need before they meticulously fill out forms and arrange their documents. All i'm saying is check to make sure the forms you are about to submit are not obsolete. yungokus the current IMM 1294 should have 'IMM 1294 (07-2012)E as a footer on the pages. you can check to make sure ALL the requisite forms you fill aren't obsolete. |

Just thought i should share this. Before you submit your application, in addition to all checks, always make sure you are using the most recent/current version of application forms. i began gathering documents and application forms long before i submitted and was at the brink of submission when i learnt there was an updated Form IMM 1294E. i was using 02-2012 version but 07-2012 had just come out. Hope this helps someone. Cheers |
