When we were kids we learnt how to throw tantrums and completely reject something because it wasn’t exactly what we wanted or how we wanted it. As adults we have learnt that throwing away the baby with the bath water isn’t wise. Greeting an armed robber ‘good morning sir’ doesn’t make you a coward or foolish, as long as you escape with your life. The story of Solomon and harlots who contended for a child comes to mind. The other woman wanted the baby to be split because her own baby was dead, but the rightful mom wanted the baby to live even if it meant losing the child temporarily. If you like Naija and want to be able to travel on the highway without being shot at or kidnapped, then please suspend all your differences with various tribes or various political opponents. The problem with Naija now is more than your quest for revenge, people are dying, there’s hunger in the country. Let us change the dangerous trend first, make the government to either tackle this insecurity or let competent people come in and do so. After that, then we can worry about Igbo and Hausa and Yoruba and all your ‘enemies’. Being a refugee in Benin Republic or Ghana or Cameroon wouldn’t be easy o, they wouldn’t accommodate Nigerians in their numbers. NaijaRoyalty: |
You see why the country isn’t going anywhere? 80 people liked this post. Look at what is happening in Hong Kong, look at how the citizens all over the world have protested against unpopular governments and policies. While you live in insecurity, you are cursing someone who gave up relatively better security in the US to come and protest the rot in Nigeria. Nigerians, the country is in your hands, if you like pray from now until 500 years, God will answer your prayers by telling you what to DO. If Nigerians come out en mass to peacefully protest the state of the nation, let the authorities start using force on innocent ones and then let’s see if the countries these leaders travel to for healthcare and vacation would not sanction them. Your leader needs the Uk healthcare system to survive, you need security to survive, he wouldn’t give you security, play smart and make the Uk morally obligated to take away the healthcare access as he has failed to live up to the oath that he swore- to give you access to a peaceful environment. Peace is better than war or confusion, but peaceful protest and civil disobedience will make even the man with the worst ear infection to hear the cries of the suffering masses loud and clear. Make una Dey there dey mumu Dey do Yoruba vs Igbo vs Hausa while the elites Dey carry una do yeye. Foolishness dwells in the heart of every tribalistic person. Arise O compatriots no be to speak big grammar, if you aren’t concerned about the country’s state more than someone’s tribe then I pray that at least your children will be better than you, because at this stage, only God can open your eyes. midolian: |
This is the very thing causing problems in Nigeria today. Important and pressing issues have been raised about the Nation’s existence as a whole. Instead of the issue being handled with the urgency and collective effort required, a regional organization is soon going to give this issue a tribal twist. ACF isn’t the Commander in Chief in Nigeria, Obasanjo’s letter is a patriotic one, Naija why can’t you people just set aside tribalism and religion, improve the security first and then hate yourselves afterwards? You think you hate Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas and all the other tribes that you weren’t born into, but wait until you become refugees in other African countries and then you will wish that you had chosen your leaders based on merit than on tribe and religion. ACF? Smh. |
Nigerians, Bigotry and tribalism wouldn’t get you anywhere. The doctor or random Good Samaritan that may save your life or help you in a way may be from the tribe you hate. Some white people don’t even care what part of Africa you’re from. If you are wise, you’d seek a government that is positively concerned about your welfare and that of your future kids than one based on your tribal sentiments. I’d rather ask how an individual in power has put in place quality policies to positively affect my future and that of those around me than be stuck in ....I’m not going to define what this type of thinking is, so you don’t think I’m insulting you... this is 2019, the world isn’t waiting for a country still stuck in primitive tribalism. Even God knew that if people have one kind, they can achieve anything (Tower of Babel). Don’t pass this mentality to your kids, they will hate you in future trust me. LegendHero: |
Okay If you say so. I chose the topic I wanted to comment on, I’m not really interested in arguing if they are or aren’t, rather to throw light on why I feel that Caucasians aren’t consistent with the description, and curses of the Hebrews who God delivered from Egypt and gave the Deuteronomy instructions to. I respect your opinion though. LazyGold: |
LazyGold:I am not saying Igbos are Jews, I don’t know if they are or aren’t. Please read my post again. |
holuwasheyiWGP:A Jew or Hebrew isn’t necessarily one who claims to be one. The Hebrew were never Caucasian. They were likened to the Egyptians in the Bible: 1. Joseph’s brothers couldn’t disguish him from an Egyptian 2. Moses after fleeing from Pharoah and helping the daughters of the priest of Ethiopia, they replied their father saying ‘an Egyptian helped us’ 3. The residents of Ancient Egypt were neither Caucasian nor the predominant race in Egypt today. 4. History doesn’t show where the people claiming to be Hebrews today suffered the curse of Deut 28. Only one set of people were taken in ships as slaves and scattered even across the islands of the earth (I’ll let google help you come to a conclusion on that, but read Deut 28 first). Igbos may not be jews, but if you believe that Caucasians are Hebrews or of the tribe of Judah, it’s because you have either 1. Not thought about it or 2. Suppressed the thoughts even though it’s hard to justify it. In addition, the Jews fled from the Emperor of Rome when he was coming to obliterate Jerusalem in fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy. Their fore fathers- Abraham, Isaac (was asked not to go), Jacob (Isreal), even Joseph the ‘father’ of Jesus all fled down to Egypt (Maybe Africa) when confronted with famine, persecution etc, but these ‘Jews’ fled to Europe (the Roman Empire) to escape the Roman emperor? Red flag right there. Study so you understand. The Madonna in Russia isn’t Caucasian. Believe in Jesus, that alone saves, but I think history has been tainted. |
The suggestion you brought forward is very valid. I would like to add my 2 cents. To serve God, what he promised and guaranteed is entry into his Kingdom and all the goodies that follow. He blessed those who hunger and thirst for the Kingdom and all the beatitude blessings. Abraham served God for many years and yet was barren for a while, Paul and Silas and the various apostles and prophets were imprisoned for the sake of the kingdom of God. My dear, Jesus himself was killed.Remember that guy who told Jesus he had kept all the commandments and everything but when Jesus said give it to the poor and follow me, he bailed. God will always want to see what you like more, Himself or Money, Himself or your desires, Himself or that thing you really love. It is good to be rich, but he is more interested in giving us everlasting life, that unless you have that grace like a camel passing through the eye of a needle (possible with God), riches though good, make it more difficult to enter his kingdom. I’ll explain that last point a little further. He said that some people will say ‘we performed miracles in your name’, yet he will tell them he never knew them. The ones that were let into the kingdom were the ones who gave food and water to the hungry, visited those in prison etc. I’m not saying riches are bad. No! I want riches myself, but observe poor people, really poor people, they often give the little they have, but the rich even though they could help a lot of people, find it hard (not all rich people) to. In conclusion, serving God is not all roses. In prison and freedom, in shipwreckness and otherwise, in the times he performed miracles to the times he was standing trial, in sickness and in health, Paul served and loved God. As we are to Jesus, so is a bride to her groom, when they say in sickness and health, the point is through all, just like a person who loves God should act, through sickness and health, remain in love. I never said he has to follow my rules, actually I have no rules of my own. I have no right to tell any human being what or what not to do. In case my point wasn’t clear enough earlier, I was saying that a number of people now perceive Charly Boy as another one of those activists who are just into it for their selfish gains. He may or may not really be that kind of person (I’ll leave that to you to have your own opinion), but just the fact that he received a 9-digit amount from an agent of a political party opens the door for questions about his integrity. Now my opinion, not rule: If the request for use of the intellectual property was done ethically/normally (9-digit figure perhaps not a typical amount), then it becomes less controversial. When you are in a public domain, ethics should be a guiding principle, it’s not my rule, it’s best practice. It isn’t enough to be fair, you should also be seen to be fair. That’s ethics in a nut shell. Hopefully anyone who understands me can help explain this further in a way that others can understand. About politicians and ethics, you have your opinion and I respect that, however I hope you can respect mine. I choose to expect a higher level of integrity from leaders especially ones who enjoy the goodwill of integrity attached to their names. I refuse to expect less from them. Excuzeme: |
Politicians will rubbish your name. Their gifts and offers are often subtle and enticing. Looking at it, on the surface it is fair to get paid for your work, but the transaction was unethical- even the pricing. If he had said to Keyamo, I don’t mind giving you copyright previlege to my intellectual property but apply through the normal channel and pay the normal amount that anyone applying to use my work would pay, then it would have been seen differently, but the transaction is unethical. Again, dining with most Nigerian politicians will soil your name. Forever Buhari has lost the goodwill of integrity attached to his name because of something similar, we couldn’t unequivocally question his integrity (sentiments aside) before 2019 elections, now that integrity can be questioned. Osinbajo same applies, people now have grounds to question his integrity, even Keyamo too. Dining with these politicians soils one’s name. |
Yes they would be shutdown . You cannot operate outside of the Canadian Federal Human rights Act, the Constitution isn’t a mere document here. You cannot segregate who can enter a public place. A licence to run a restaurant is a licence to run a public services/ accommodation place and it operates on a public licence. You can kick people out, but if it is based on race and this can be proven that you segregate based on race, your business would either be shutdown or charged within a short period of media coverage like this journalist did. In these days of political correctness, the restaurant would be shutdown ASAP. I know it may be difficult to understand, but in Canada, the laws aren’t just there for decoration, you cannot just go contrary to them and expect nothing to happen especially if there’s public outcry, your status wouldn’t necessarily help you. The links below will show you how tolerant Canada is to issues like this https://quickbooks.intuit.com/ca/resources/customer-service/refuse-service-to-customer/ https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/canada/article-toronto-restaurant-ordered-to-pay-10000-after-asking-black-customers/ Newboss: |
gazilion:I will try to criticize you constructively, so please don’t take this personal. I know you may have been joking, but it is a serious matter that a foreign organization will infringe on the rights of Nigerian citizens in Nigeria. It should be strongly condemned by you and every Nigerian. If segregation starts from a restaurant, where else and what else can it not extend to? It’s bad enough that our leaders segregate Nigerian citizens when it comes to employment and other sectors, but to also accept segregation based on nationality or skin colour from foreigners in your own country isn’t something we should take lightly. It is not a good joke. |
Nigeria, There are more choices than INCOMPETENCE or CORRUPTION. Your children will attend schools administered and funded by the leaders you choose. You will sleep in cities that are guarded by the police that reflect the government you choose (I know- God is our protector, but even some of Christ’s personal disciples were killed, so don’t be ignorant), the government you choose in February can make the value of the money in your savings worthless within a period of time. People you know will graduate and enter the job market, the government you choose can make it easier for them to find jobs or turn them into jobless youth roaming the streets for years to come. The poor and the rich will get sick, but what kind of hospitals do you want them to visit? It doesn’t matter what you think are a candidate’s chances, give yourself a chance, give your kids a chance, give the nation a chance for a better future. Vote wisely! It is possible! |
Honestly, if Osinbajo were the main candidate, I’d consider him, but even if I put up Buhari’s performance at a job interview, I wouldn’t even hire myself with that performance. Nigerians need to consider another candidate outside Buhari and Atiku. Seriously, CORRUPTION MAY JUST BE AS BAD AS INCOMPETENCE when it comes to the economy and who says the only options we have are those? |
Dear OP, Yes it is ethical, just like it is ethical for a pastor to be seen at night, coming out of a whorehouse by himself, after going to ‘evangelize’. Are you kidding me? This makes front page? You know the meaning of ethical in the context you used it here is ‘morally good or correct’ right? Here is an example of ethics in a somewhat extreme context; Imagine that you are the CEO of a public firm, and you need to hire a lawyer for your firm. Your sister is the best lawyer in the country, she easily meets the requirements for the position. If you employ her, it may be seen as nepotism, so in most properly run organizations, she’ll be excluded because it may be perceived to be nepotism. They aren’t just fair, but they must also appear to be fair. And you ask if it is ETHICAL for a lady in a committed relationship to go out with other guys? If you ask ‘is it bad’, that becomes open for various perspectives/opinions but not if it is Ethical. Here are some synonyms of the word Ethical, try substituting it for any of them moral, right-minded, principled, irreproachable; More righteous, high-minded, virtuous, good, morally correct; clean, lawful, just, honorable, reputable, respectable, noble, worthy; praiseworthy, commendable, admirable, laudable; whiter than white, saintly, impeccable, politically correct; @seun/mods A lot of Nigerians wouldn’t always remain in this present shallow level of intelligence, you are in a position of influence, to promote intelligent, educative, informative and beneficial discuss in the public to help pull us out of our present state. Even as a joke, this topic, in my opinion, is a bad one. I’m not sure if the OP communicated exactly what he/she intended to, but the MODs can up the quality by censoring topics like this. PUSSYHOE: |
This, if not just 'political talk', should be an interesting opportunity for SMEs, the general public, and consequently, the economy. @OP/MOD I believe the article says "2 MW and below", however, the title of this post says "2 MW (minimum)". Nairaland is often (even if informally) used as a reference sometimes, so please confirm and correct. |
clefstone:I do, at least that’s the likely the case, because light travels faster than sound. If you get struck by lightning, and it results to loss of consciousness, you probably wouldn’t even get to hear the sound of thunder. |

How can I help this child directly? No agency or middle person without integrity. I want this child to get better. Regardless of what part of Nigeria he/she is in, a child in Nigeria shouldn't be in this state. Anyone with credible info please let me know. |
Imagine that you just graduated from University with flying colours and the government employs you- good job with great benefits. How would you feel if another government decides that they cannot pay your salaries because they aren't the ones who employed you? |
http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/topstories/cash-strapped-u-of-r-students-abandoned-by-nigerian-scholarship-program-1.3326199 Isn't government continuos? Shouldn't future governments honor contracts entered into by the previous ones even if they eventually want to back out of it. This involves one of the richest states in the country and its citizens that could potentially turn the state around for good are being left stranded and disgraced. Tomorrow they would say the have 'AAA' credit rating and tell all sorts of lies that Nigerians accept without verifying. Tell me how would institutions assess Rivers State Government's credibility, financial or otherwise? |
lokzie: @OP If you story is true,i hope your marriage will be redeemed. However, i think you are a Nigerian and your story is a fantasy. Though English isn't the first language of the Swiss, and though you have been associated with a Nigerian for 10yrs now, you made errors that most Swiss who speak English wouldn't (Swiss also make errors, so that isn't the issue but as a naija guy, i can smell 'our' English). check yourself out .... thinking I didnt hear the Igbo , you've been fearing that, have I married another woman? , ...praises his friends who married in Nigeria (from the context,it seems you didn't necessarily mean location of wedding but that their wives were Nigerians) .There are a lot more of these that suggest you aren't who you say you are, but i don't want to spend more time analyzing. Let us just reflect statement This topic has been bothering me but it becomes a real emergency.... |

geeez: Salaries should be privateStatutory audit require (it is a must) that director's salaries be disclosed. Every director is an agent entrusted to manage shareholders' fund, the shareholders must be told how the directors are handling the affairs (including how much they earn) |
I see, it makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation. The word R*APE can be a noun and a verb but Nairaland in converting it always assumes it is being used as a noun hence molestation even in cases when it should be molested. Raped Karleb: If u type the word RA*PE on nairaland without '*' it will turn to molestation, that explains why "she was rap*ed" turned to "she was molestation", and thesame thing goes for words like: fvck, bre*ast, ni*pples, orga*sm, vag*ina, shi*t and so on. |
Only the first fixture is a possibility as Chelsea,Madrid, Dortmund and Man United all topped their respective groups, they all avoid playing any of themselves. Arsenal's options are Madrid,PSG, Bayern, Athletico and Barca. We will definitely play one of them. I wished Arsenal drew Napoli to top Group F. Arsenal can't play an English team in the second round hence, Arsenal avoid Man U and Chelsea
Now now we go know who be boss in England Barcelona vs Arsenal Chelsea vs Madrid Dortmund vs Man United
|
One of 3 teams CFCfan: Fact: Napoli are one of 2 teams that garnered 12 points, but still got eliminated from d group stage. |
Search the word 'molestation' on nairaland and you will find a lot of places where it is used as a verb. 'Molestation' is a noun, the verb is 'Molest'. Therefore, a man can only molest a woman and not molestation a woman. I noticed this has been going on for a while but it is difficult to ignore it (I almost doubted the basic knowledge that most words that end with 'tion' are nouns, but thank God the dictionary proved I haven't lost my mind). My 2cents, please no diatribes or abuse. |
Unprofessional but funny, really funny. |
Aren't the trains going to run on electricity? (I know light rails do) If so, then they must have other reasons for not installing escalators in the station(s). Anyway, a one eyed man is king among the blind. Kudos to Lagos state. Eko o Ni baje |
The 'illiterate' is saying that 'literate' people like you should know that the world is bigger than their own communities and that cultures differ, so having a roommate who is of the opposite sex doesn't necessarily mean one has an intimate relationship with them- at least not in North America. Find someone to help you translate it to your literate language as it doesn't seem to be English. ojeffo: What is dis illiterate saying...? |
