Classes of degree are overrated.Remember it's just a fine line between 3.49 and 3.50. Anyway my case is interesting. Had BSc. in Applied Geophysics with a 2.2 and later had my Masters in Exploration Geophysics. Of course I couldn't find a job in Oil company and I was basically searching and searching for any job (not necessarily oil and gas) in the streets of Lagos. For good 3 years, I was without a job. I basically lived in 5 different places during these period squatting while trying my hands on menial jobs. That was 2 years and 10 months ago from today. I don't think anyone has printed CVs or sent CVs online more than I did. Na wa ooo, Hadiza even left me then.Sincerely it was painful but quite understandable. Babes these days wouldn't want to persevere with a struggling guy. To cut it short, I got a job with a global research company, though not in line with my discipline. In the space of 2 and half years, I got promoted twice and as I type this, I am in another country in africa where I was transferred to manage one of the company departments in our branch there till Dec 2016. Trust me, a whole lot has changed. Company-paid two bedroom apartment, official car and all other added benefits, good pay as well. A couple of people on NL know me one on one, so they can attest to this. Why not, I don be member since 2008 ![]() Before i travelled, I cant but stop along CMD road, stare and smile. For those who know CMD road Magodo, there's this new school beside phcn office, called honeyland, believe it or not, I drilled the borehole in that school with some guys I hired. Manual drilling till we got water, under the harsh sun, all for how much. Now it's just a story. Hard work pays. Please guys don't start quoting bible or religion, I don't believe in all that. So don't say it was the work of mr A or B. Just take the story as it is. Thank you. |

I expect him to be able to back statements like this up with evidence rather than making such a loose statement as such. I am inclined to believe some amount are missing but not near what Soludo mentioned... Anyway vote GMB... |
AmakaDNB:True Talk but guy, N30 trillion no be small money...I no sure how dem fit steal dat kind money. The story get comma self... |
I am really saddened and deeply troubled by the turn of events over the last few days by the tone of the debate on the economy and the personalities involved. The two principal actors are people who are not just close to me, but respected internationally in the field of economics. In his latest article, Professor Chukwuma Soludo alleges that over N30 trillion is missing or stolen or unaccounted for, or simply mismanaged under Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s watch. Using the average dollar exchange rates since May 2011, the sum of N30 trillion is equivalent to about US$193 billion!! The trained mind will already decipher that this cannot be true, but for the sake of others, let me state clearly why such a huge amount cannot possibly be missing. First, the assertion by Professor Soludo that on average 400,000 barrels per day are being “stolen” cannot be correct. From my vantage position as former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, I know that on several occasions, the government has made it clear that between 50,000 to 100,000 barrels per day are being lost to pipeline vandals. In fact, my recollection is that Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was the first person to sound the alarm on the missing barrels. However, the repair of the broken pipelines requires “shut-ins”, that is, the pipelines are closed down, which prevents about 400,000 barrels per day being pumped. So what is not being pumped cannot be stolen. It makes more sense to say that about 250,000 to 300,000 barrels over and above what is stolen (which is 50,000 to 100,000) by vandals cannot be pumped and sold, and this is weighing down government revenues. Second, the claim that gross mismanagement has denied the country some $60 billion is also not true. The government has on numerous occasions given explanations as to why reserves have fallen since the 2008/09 financial crisis. Reserves, particularly the Excess Crude Account component, were used to shore up our economy when the crisis hit and please bear in mind that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was not Minister of Finance at this time. In the same vein, the state governors were not tolerant of the idea of excess crude savings, preferring to share monies that could have built up the reserves. The resistance has been raging from the day the concept of Excess Crude Account was initiated under President Obasanjo. In fact, there is a subsisting law suit in the Supreme Court by the governors seeking to share what is left of the Account. Surely, the Minister of Finance cannot be held liable for the behaviour of our governors. If anyone is truly convinced of gross mismanagement of our reserves, we need to show courage in our conviction by asking the State Governors to account for their respective shares of Excess Crude Account over the last 6 years. In any event, it is the CBN Governor who should account for the management of the reserves. Lastly, no one can now say that $20 billion is missing from NNPC. The fact of the matter is that a forensic Audit, led by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation has been carried out, and the Audit report has just been released. The conclusion of this forensic investigation is that NO MONEY IS MISSING!!! In this same article, Professor Soludo accused the Honourable Minister of Finance of manipulating national statistics, particularly poverty numbers. This cannot be a fair accusation from my brother. The integrity of data from the National Bureau of Statistics is now generally applauded by both international bodies as well as local institutions. It is therefore, not wise to disparage a fledgling national institution in this manner. However, for the avoidance of doubts, my simple response to that accusation is that Nigerians should read pages 16 to 18 of the “Nigerian Economic Report 2014”, published by the World Bank. This can be found on the link: Though Professor Charles Soludo’s intellect and capacity is not in any doubt, I will strongly advise the Honourable Minister of Finance not to respond to his recent article, as the debate will lead us nowhere, and further overheat the polity. My take, is that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who has received many accolades internationally for her contribution to global economic development and to Nigeria’s economic growth and stability, must not be distracted from her daily job of managing our economy through the tough times ahead. Professor Sylvester Monye is President, Africa Institute for Public Policy and former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation See more at: http://www.reubenabati.com.ng/2015-02-09-Re-Soludo-and-Okonjo-Iweala-N30-trillion-Mismanagement-Claim-By-Prof-Sylvester-Monye.html#sthash.HGaK5aNE.dpuf

And we want to fight Boko Haram in 6 weeks....make i just dey look ... |
The leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has vowed to defeat a new multinational team of soldiers constituted to fight against the sect. Shekau said this in a 28-minute video which was one of three posted online by the sect on Monday, February 9. “Your alliance will not achieve anything. Amass all your weapons and face us. We welcome you,” Shekau said. “We never rose up to fight Africa. We rose up to fight the world. We are going to fight the world on the principle that whoever doesn’t obey Allah and the Prophet to either obey or die or become a slave,” he added. “You send 7,000 troops? Why don’t you send 70 million? This is small. Only 7,000? By Allah, it is small. We can seize them one-by-one. We can seize them one-by-one,” the terrorist leader said further. The videos, which have since been taken down, are also said to show a man being stoned to death for adultery and another having his hand amputated for stealing. The multinational force consists of soldiers from Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria, all of whom have suffered attacks from the sect. http://pulse.ng/local/abubakar-shekau-boko-haram-leader-vows-to-defeat-multinational-force-in-new-video-id3470449.html

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied reports that a replacement has been chosen for its Chairman, Attahiru Jega. Rumours have been rife that Jega will be forced to proceed on terminal leave on March 1 and will then be replaced by Professor Nazim Olufemi Mimiko, said to be the brother of Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko. However, an employee of INEC told Pulse via telephone that the reports are false and that there is no truth to them. “That information is false. No new Chairman has been nominated,” the INEC staff, who chooses to remain anonymous, told Pulse. Reports have it that the Presidency is shopping for Jega’s replacement and that getting him to postpone the general elections was step one in the plot to unseat him. The INEC Chairman announced on Saturday, February 7, that the elections, which were originally slated to hold on February 14 and 28, will now hold on March 28 and April 11, 2015. Also, INEC’s Director of Voter education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi told Leadership Newspaper that Jega would be in charge of conducting the polls in March and April 2015. “The rumour has been there for a while. And at the last press briefing, Jega addressed the issue of how he would resign. He gave conditions upon which he will resign,” Uzzi said. “He (Jega) will conduct the polls. It is just like when I hear rumours about resigning my job, I will just concentrate on my job. I am sure that is the same attitude he has to the job,” he added. The Presidency is reportedly planning to replace Jega with someone who is less independent-minded to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan is re-elected into office. Very hilarious...dis guy don finish gej...True talk joooor David-West... |
rofessor Tam David-West, former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to start preparing his hand-over note because his days in office as president of Nigeria are numbered. The reason, according to David-West, is because Jonathan’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will suffer a humiliating defeat in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections. “Jonathan should quickly look for shoes and go back to Otuoke. I have shoes in Ibadan and Abuja, I can give him some if he is in need of shoes. “Everywhere you go, you see signs that the end of this government, led by Jonathan, is very near. Honestly, I do not have anything against him, but a party and a man that can better manage Nigeria has appeared on the scene, and we have no choice but to save our country from an impending doom.” The elder statesman and Professor of Virology said Nigerians cannot continue to tolerate a government that is evidently confused and incapable of providing leadership. He warned that the drift in almost every sphere of our national life will continue if Jonathan is not shown the way out because, according to him, the president lacks the capacity to lead. David-West also called on President Jonathan to show Nigerians his doctoral thesis, and end the ragging controversy around his certificate. “I became a professor in 1974, so when I see a scholar I know. I have asked people to look for the PhD of Jonathan but I am yet to find it. I think he owes Nigerians an explanation because he is our president, Professor David-West said. http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/09/%E2%80%9Clook-shoes-quickly-and-go-back-otuoke%E2%80%9D-david-west-tells-jonathan
