seems you don't know Brazil is also corrupt.
And what about spain, uruguay, argentina who won the world cup and are comparatively less rifed with corruption? How has participating in the world cup impacted on their economies positively?
Sports / Why are goal-keepers no longer putting on 'long trunks'? by lordtosan(m): 10:09am On Jun 12, 2015
*not so sure if it is called trunks. But permit me to use it for want of a more perfect fitting noun for the out-fit.

In time gone by, goal-keepers stood between the sticks in tight long trunks that looked pretty much like a female 'legies'/'long skin-tight'. I remember peter rufai had one on those days. But in recent times, such trunks seem to have become a relic of the past. Goal-keepers are now putting on shorts like other players. And this sprout quite a few questions.
What happened? Did fifa ban it? Or was it the goal-keepers who felt those tight long trunks made them look quite effeminate and had stopped putting it on to keep gays at bay?
Sports / Does participating in football tournaments improve a nation's economy? by lordtosan(m): 9:48am On Jun 12, 2015
I have often wondered about the above question. Every tourney see footballing nations frantically pumping huge chunk of their hard-earned national incomes into their respective teams with the sole view of making their teams sure-footed and going all the way to clinch 'a conveted trophy' in the last resort. Over 20 players and technical crew are paid huge remunerations by these nations. Needless to talk about the money spent on Jerseys, training venues, hotels, match bonus, flight-tickets, supporters' clubs etc. And very often, most of these nations after incuring such extortionate expenses, fail to go pass the group stage and return home without the trophy. And even the nation that eventually wins it have got zilch to show such win impacted on their economic positively. Brazil's economy, 5 times winners of the fifa world cup, comes to mind. One would think brasil's economy should have been leap-frogged after such many world cup wins. Quite the contrary, brasil's economy is way behind indian's economy who are yet to make a world-cup appearance since eon.
Flowing from these observation, i like to ask what does a nation stand to gain economically for participating in football torneys? To make it more at our door step, what did Nigeria profitted by economically after the flying eagles of Nigeria participated in this year under-20 world cup?

*Note however i didn't say hosting the world cup. Every tom knows hosting the world cup is a creepy deal which comes with a few toys. E.g attracting tourists etc.

I will probably open one eye not two o jus only one eye to see who score and close again. Lol. I wanna see another yahaya rabona skill and nacho curlin ball. I know there are other players that can play well for the team but let be honest yahaya and nacho are just too good to be on the bench. It is like saying cr7 should be on the bench when he is fit and ready to roll. No matter how hazard mess up on the pitch of play, mouriho will never bench hazard never. Nacho should be untouchable in that flying eagles team. Come on guys he is the reigning world young player of the year for crying out loud. He should be respected by everyone including manu. At least tell him to up his game not bench
yea. I get your point. I'm sure Nacho would come on in the 2nd half. A super-sub of sort.

I nor go watch again. I can't afford to miss yahaya and nacho skillful plays. But since they aint starting then no need to watch until I see both of em playing. I go jus sit down for front of tv but I go close my eye until I hear commentator say iheanacho or yahaya comin in before I go open eye dey watch.
and what happens when you hear the commentor screamed "it is a Goal. Fantastic goal!" and he didn't mention which side that scored?

Let me ask you a question.

If you want to eat dinner and you send a Tiger and a pet cat to go hunting for you. And the tiger comes home with an ordinary bush rat instead of a big antelope or deer. Will you be pleased with it?

But if the pet cat comes home with 2 squirells will you not be happy with it?

My point, the quality of tool at your disposal determines the result you get.

If Keshi is satisfiee with the draw, it is because he knew the quality of the boys he worked and what to expect. Or do you expect him to perform magic?

do you have to employ all that analogy to explain your point?
The emboldened would have done the Job.

Safarigirl, i hope you aren't taking all these trenchant jibes to heart? It's only an online swipe. Don't let it worry your head. Wave it off and move on. But let me advise you exercise a little constrain over your cool. Learn not to forwent in hard too nippily.

To all of you going hard core and hurling bitting criticism her way, should let it slide and know that someone with emotion like you is at the recieving end of a really brutal verbal abuse. Learn to correct without reducing people to zilch.

I'm sure you think all that you've written up there makes sense ba? You can help by getting a job for Wole Soyinka too; the man will buy you and all your properties along. You joke! grin
you clearly lack a glib grasp of what nonesense means. If there is anything that falls within the ambit of nonesense, it certainly would be that crass clumsy cluster of crap you put up there called poem.
How much is wole soyinka worth? If the white-afro grandpa had so affluently amassed wealth from poetry how come he is not among the richest men in his own village let alone in the country? The old man is skint boy! Apart from wole soyinka can you, without throwing tantrum, cite another nigerian poet who became a silver-tail from writing poetry? A modern poet? Please do!
My boy go out there, make money and you will buy a library of poetry. No one ever became wealthy writing flimsy lines called poetry. Who even buys poetry in recent times? Be honest when last did you buy a modern poet's work?

Before booking this space, i wanted to say Osita needs severe flogging for pulling this publicity stunt (as if he doesn't have enough billion in his account to fuel his fleet of cars.). But after booking this space, i realise i didn't have anything to say even though i subtly just said something.

This man should be made to do a severe 'frog-jump' and flogged afterwards when he gets to GEJ village. Nobody should give him a dime. APC was patently in error to have rewarded the other guy. This nonesense should stop!
Education / Re: The Role Of Nigerian Students In Creating A New Nigeria by lordtosan(m): 7:17am On May 20, 2015
There never can be a new Nigeria or any student role to a better nigeria so long as the same old, ideas-bereft politicians whose avarice to perk of power has brought us to shambles keep rotating powers among themselves like a family property. There never will be such role so long as APC would prefer to pick feeble old buhari, a former military president who couldn't lead the nation when he was young and filled with life ahead of Fashola. If this cycle keeps repeating itself, this write-up will be a mere academic exercise.
