that's commitment.. Wow I'm FTC for the first time in a very long time. That's commitment on my own part too.
Back to the thread: Nigeria as a nation urgently need this kind of commitment (especially FDI) not only in the power sector but also in railway to remedy our dire transport lacks and agriculture too to substantially reduce our food import bill. Put all this together and if our government is proactive in making nigeria a top investment destination by regulating and of course reducing interest rate in nigeria. Bet me our country will witness development from all angle. Sometime I wonder why the government won't just unbundle evrything for states and private sectors. The government has no business in doing business But then, what do I know? |

The decision to peg the naira in the first is absurd. Currency peg allows nations to keep inflation and export prices stable, but what do we export apart from crude oil.. Truth is the government need to roll up there sleeves and change this sluggish approach to economic management. |

Education › You've Got To Love This School! by Lordxeer(op): 5:33pm On Jun 12, 2016 |
Whoever designed the architectural masterplan of Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria was indeed a romantic designer. The planner must have been an intimate admirer of nature. The school can break you academically but has the soothing balm for you just by the side. Whoever went to ABU and didn't take away the love side of nature can never appreciate love forever. In ABU zaria you find the most friendly camaraderie, in that place igbo language is most spoken than Hausa language, there you find the children of the rich reduced down to the level of the poor folks. No one ever carried an air of arrogance around him or her and ever lived to tell the story of nature's kindness. It was a meeting points of greatness. In ABU zaria, a mini Nigeria was created and a sustained veins of integration put in emotion. Regardless of your biases, people were hurled together in one room. In no time, you had no option but to live the lives of yourselves. Bonds were established and affinities became so stimulating. Everyone was for all as all was for one. Barriers were broken, prejudices abused. Intimate relationships built as people love for the sake of nature. Classes were attended together, discussions held into the nights. Life was sweet, the environment was a shelter for lovebirds. The last place to see exchange of fist was ABU zaria, you dare not cause a rift as everyone was a product of civility. At night, Ribadu garden, Sculpture garden, Archi rooftops, Sodom and Gomorrah, Mahdi followers, Gorilla gate, Drama village were embracing abodes for lovers. Life was lived in fullest. People enjoyed unhindered intimacy. You dare not violate the rules of engagement. No cases of harassment, rape and any other misnomer. Life in ABU was paradise on earth. You can't go to ABU and not have a friend. Friendship were cultivated and nurtured into lifetime homes. You either have an academic boyfriend or an emotional heartthrob. It was a beautiful experience. In Zaria, the only Aluta that supersede all other alutas was the emotional aluta. It was damn difficult to escape that- we are all product of emotional aluta. Yes ABU zaria was a hub of love, peace and harmony but this bond is abruptly truncated the very moment you enter the mosque and the church! At that point, we are opposite of the above virtues...

Politics › Re: Bill On Loans For Undergraduates Passes Second Reading by Lordxeer(m): 1:08pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Favben: Okay, since it's a loan and whoever borrows would have to pay back, no problem; but I don't think that it's the most pressing need right now given that tertiary education in Nigeria is tuition free.
Annual fees charged by Nigerian higher institutions for maintenance and management services to students range from 15k to 70k in federal universities. This is not remitted to the federal government. Note that this is not tuition fees. The federal government is yet saddled with payment of lecturers salaries and other compensations.
Essentially we are enjoying free education in Nigeria at the tertiary level. A look at what is obtainable in other advanced countries, better economies than Nigeria will show you that we have it too good.
But, how good is it really when we talk about the quality of education?
Tertiary education requires massive funding that cannot be footed by government, tuition fees, or industry, each acting alone.
A secondary school student spends more in fees for three terms than a university students annual fees. This stops education of the abjectly poor early on or at best makes them settle for a quality of education that would not turn them out as sound as is safe for society.
This favour the federal government of Nigeria is doing her citizens is obviously not working. A compulsory preliminary education that is either free or affordable to all up to SSCE level should be adopted instead because I believe their is a relationship between the average level of education of citizens and the social vices we see in our nation (Tribal and religious terrorism, militancy, butchering herdsmen, herdsmen butchering, highway robbery, kidnapping, deliberate crude oil spillage and irreversible destruction of one's habitat, bombing and destruction of public property, jungle/street justice).
We cannot all be graduates.
We can however all be educated intelligent citizens filling each, a different niche and thriving.
Some would learn a vocation after a compulsory basic education (ssce level), others a trade or craft.
This same system is adopted by the U.S and the U.K and has recorded tremendous success. Parents in those locales plan and contribute to a college fund for a selected child who they think would thrive best in further education.
Sometimes paying more is good. If I pay more, I would demand that a commensurate quality of service is rendered. Citizens who pay would make demands for what it's worth and this is really what is needed to keep the educational system on it's toes while helping provide the funding it needs.
We have to kill the apathy that comes with, the fees is not much so we don't expect much.
Let education rather be free to SSCE level and tertiary education tuition charged as obtainable elsewhere.
Students being sponsored through school would perhaps take learning more seriously.
Parents would perhaps take their wards open day more seriously.
Poorly performing lecturers would perhaps loose their jobs to an active feedback system.
That we may have the capacity to pay our lecturers better.
Then perhaps we can attract more great minds from all around the world to lecture in Nigerian Institutions.
And produce better graduates that Nigeria needs for technological advancement necessary to get her out of her economic woes in the 21st century.
With restored confidence in the educational system, more industry participation, funding and partnership to drive research would be possible. that's spot on brother! |

Further strengthening Sharia's power to try criminal cases doesn't sound like a great idea to me oooooo.
Or did I miss something? Amputation you said! Hmmm, the stance of your hoaxes and fabrication is overwhelming! There is only one record of amputation in zamfara state during the tenure of Sanni Yerima. As a matter of fact, sharia law isn't as barbaric as we are made to believe. Just carry out ur research without bias about sharia and u will be convinced its probably the only set of laws that can save our cruel cruel country! |

heybeemoney: on my way to OTUEKE,,, GEJ must hear dis. pls I need sound financial analyst to explain to us d pros n Con's of dis latest development, pls don't b bias. A country undertake devaluation to boost exportation or make its goods cheaper, thereby earning more foreign exchange, shrink trade deficit and reduce its sovereign dept burden. However, it does hurt too by raising the price of export and spurring inflation. I for one will move against any policy shift in this direction as I foresees disastrous outcome with the fact that our economic fundamentals are very weak at this point in time. Hope this help? |

vigasimple: GBAM. Thank you. Buhari doesn't know the true meaning of corruption and as such cannot fight what you don't know.
What Buhari has been able to identify was which song the people want to hear, which is corruption track and he kept singing it.
Meanwhile. Buhari is the corrupt master from saying that Abacha is not corrupt and retrieving 'illegally' removed Nigeria monies abroad to using every miniscule conference as a cover to get medical treatment abroad.
We have a serious challenges at home, he kept junketing all over the world even when it is clear he doesn't understand what the issues are.
If you doubt me , ask Buhari to give spontaneous Press questions and answers.

Pavarottii: In buhari's mind he is fighting corruption, is only his zombies that will believe him. Figting opposition is not fighting corruption neither is trials, sentences and jail terms the best way to fight corruption( they were all used in the military Regime, did the corruption stop or guess worse?) The best ways to fight corruption is putting systems to stop the money to get to the looters and check their excesses and the last time I checked, buhari has put none on ground. They were all brought by PDP led govt. i.e EFCC, ICPC, IPPIS, BVN, TSA, E-payment for fertilizers, etc. This are d best ways to fight corruption.
