cucumbar: please what are the chances that if I replace the gear of my 2007 Honda accord it will come out fine?
I have been having having gear issues recently. The D light started blinking and a code related to the shift control solenoid came up. It was replaced, and I cleared the code and topped up the oil because the mechanic complained that it was low.
So far, the code has not reappeared, but I still experience flaring , and hard shifting, especially on cold starts, so I’m thinking of getting another gear box, but I want to be sure it will solve my problem
Fluid level was low, why is that ( is the shaft seal leaking ) What was the condition of the fluid before it was topped of. - and yes changing the gearbox should solve your problems with those things being experienced
baylord77: A lot of people complain about the gearbox issues and shaft stuff.
Should the Op be worried about these?
So I’ll explain before and after purchase Before purchase - Transmission fluid should be inspected before purchase if it dark or smells burnt that’s a red flag - scan vehicle for transmission related codes - check that vehicle runs through all the gear’s seamlessly
After purchase Assuming all the above checks out - constantly monitoring transmission fluid level and color, If getting darker it should be replaced with the original recommended fluid following the right procedure - for the shaft, most times contamination caused by external factors like dirt causes issues with gearbox later on so the work should be done in a very neat environment
TeamLeader: Please I need a sincere advice, with 4 - 4.5m budget, can I get a good Camry muscle? 4plug precisely.
Ah too love this car.
Not impossible actually but then you’d be spending a lot of money putting things back together I’ll explain - if you see at this price range one thing is sure, oil burning is eminent - that 2az engine would be in terrible shape, Infact some would have started tapping - probably repainted multiple times - wires flying up and down in the engine bay Only exception is probably getting one with a very good body, interior and electrical then probably with a bad engine, replace engine and you have a good car but then you’d be spending above 4.5m

Kenosky1: Most cars use 10,000 miles in a year, so 147k mileage is likely to be correct. The N11m for a 15 year old Camry is actually on the high side. Unless you are not really interested in selling this vehicle.
Very true, and honestly you could even get a Camry tokunbo, even for 9.5m but all still depends on trim, condition the vehicle came in with also ( an Le would sell at a much lower price ) that said, I’m actually open for offers

2cribz: Don rush and start explaining things. Forst tel him to loose all the plugs nd check for cracks on the ceramic or if the pkugs have expired or worn out. If pkuga are good..ruled out. Next tell him to guage the oil or you remove the dipstick?clean and insert then reove and check for imtbe level if its low or guaged. Thirdly he ahoyld check if the oil pump and oil pump mesh filter screen under the oil sump is blocked or dirty.... if after that he should check the timing belts?pulleys, adjuster where the fan belt sits on timing chain..if after every ..then the engine don knock be that. Some of these meko dey place one or half inch screw Inside your engine crankcase when you are not there. It will now hook the pistons or valves and bend them and hence engine knocked. He ahud check where I told u too. Don't go there and be doing big man o . Make sure u r there.mke no be say na spark plugs.them go tell u say engine don knock.cos every meko eyes dey red now and dem go chop anyone.
Camshaft vvt actuators going out Due to its failure it rattles upon start up but then dies down when oil circulates through the actuators. You should also have fault codes pointing to them also
If this is still needed and I get you one in optimum condition ( it’ll be one That has been properly inspected sir) my hotline is on my signature sir) thank you
Afikoo: Buying a car seems it comes with a lot of headache especially when you are faced with making a choice.
It's my first car, and I am stuck between choosing a Camry and Honda . I particularly like Honda , but then I read that the V4 in Honda uses CVT which isn't that strong and need a lot of careful maintenance. So my focus is on Honda Accord Ex-l v6
Car guys in the house. Advise me on which to go between Honda and Toyota Camry
Hello good afternoon Just go for the Honda Perks - has a very reliable engine ( j35y1) would do just the job, although it also implemented the VCM system which was very problematic but this comes with the 3rd gen VCM which doesn’t have too much issues - being a VCM engine, you can get better mpg while going at cruising speed which one needs now due to our Nigerian fueling crisis Downsides - at some point of ownership you would most likely need engine decarbonization which really isn’t an issue because they’re pretty much Available - it’s uses a timing belt so you must be really wary of previous repair history ( I.e ) if they’ve ever been changed because that engine is an interference engine, if the belt snaps it can bend valves too Overall It’s a great vehicle honestly, and I think with proper maintenance you can take care of it
Topmaike007: Hello my fellow nairalanders good day. Please I got this lexus es330 for more than 6 months now and I noticed the rate it drinks fuel is beyond comprehension. The engine sounds so cool and does not smoke. But the check engine light have been on since I got it from my younger brother, and I have taken it to rewire and I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. But the car is on 17 tyre size. Please make una help me before this car send me back to the village.
Scan the vehicle first sir and let a live data stream of the vehicle’s fuel trim be also shared
