ICaSNg: Postgraduate-MSc/MA/MBA Programs (Admission process/ Requirements / Fees / Visa app /Work-permit) =================================================================
1. Admission Requirements/Processing: ========================= For most Universities or Averagely rated Schools, minimum grade to get admitted into a masters programme is 2:2. However, for few selected courses or programs, a 2:1 grade is required. Other requirements are listed below: a. Curriculum Vitae b. Statement of purpose c. Verified O-level results / certificates d. BSc Transcripts & Certificate e. English proficiency test (PTE/IELTS): minimum scores for PTE is 65 while IELTS is 6.0 minimum for each band and 6.5 overall. f. Valid traveling passport g. Application fees (Most Universities accept application charges)
If however you are you have very low GPA or looking to apply to high-ranked Universities such as UCC, Trinity college et al, then you may have to go through a pre-masters program @ their partner foundation College or take a semester / a session pre-masters program before starting your main masters program.
As earlier mentioned, duration of a masters program in Ireland is similar to the UK; Program duration for most courses is 1 year; while few selected programs such as MRes or MBA may last 18 - 24 months. Tuition fee is relatively similar to the UK @ EUR 10,500 to as much as EUR 22,000 (e.g UCC has fine/brilliant programs that cost as much as 22,000 euros each year).
Visa application: =========== Contrary to the UK's easier visa processing and application, Ireland requires significant number of documents before your visa is approved.
Once an applicant gets an offer from an Institution in Ireland, such is required to make a minimum deposit payment (EUR 6000) to be issued a receipt (inotherwords, Confirmation of Acceptance for studies) then similar to the UK, you need to show proof of funds covering balance of your Tuition fees and amount specified by your Institution for living costs. Living costs/ Expenses vary from EUR 7000 to EUR 11,000 for 1 year program within Dublin or outside Dublin .
Irish Visa application is a very tricky one and requires attention to details.
Applying form Nigeria is currently at EUR 100/110 and you are required to buy a courier package to deliver your passport and visa.
Applying for Irish study Visa/permit from or within the UK takes 7 -21 working days. Visa app fees is less than £60.
You can show proof of funds in your personal account or a sponsors account; whichever way, you're required to present 6 months statement of account and explain any large deposit. You are also required to show proof of employment and relationship between you and your sponsor amongst other requirements.
Now ....Drum rolling....lol
Post-study work PERMIT in IRELAND (Yess O) ===========================
So Ireland is probably thanking God for BREXIT..LOL
Recently, Republic of Ireland has stepped up her game and going real in by taking opportunities- skilled graduates the UK is letting off. They've increased their post-study work permit from 1 year to 2 years for Graduates who successfully complete their masters program (Level 9). With more companies closing shop in the UK and moving to Ireland (needless to mention Ireland remains within the EU and now only the English speaking Country in Europe), this Country provides a safe Havenfor businesses and more work opportunities graduates especially, in Tech, Health and Engineering;with the likes of FACEBOOK, GOOGLE, PayPal , Irish NHS, Diageo, Coca-cola, kraft foods (Cadbury) as employers of labor based in Ireland and many more moving business from the UK to Ireland .
If you are lucky to get additional 2 years of work experience in Ireland together with your post-study work visa making 4 years of practical and relevant work experience in Ireland, you are entitled to apply for Indefinite leave to Remain / Permanent Residence permit card which is 5 years and thereafter apply for citizenship....
Like I mentioned, Why spend more , when you can spend less for more opportunities....
Cheers pls I want to confirm if test of English is compulsory as part of Vida application in Ireland embassy in Nigeria afta I have get admission without it.thanks |

thesoj: @lovesavvi the parts in bold should be the most critical parts of your next application. How will your education be an investment in the future development of Nigeria? VOs need to see that you have a clearly defined plan on what you would do if you aren't allowed to stay in Canada after your studies (e.g. you run out of PGWP and don't get PR). All they need to be convinced about is that you are the kind of person who won't stay back in Canada illegally. Also, include all other business and professional ties that you have to Nigeria (tie it all together in a compelling story of how you'd use your Canada education in Nigeria). Your wife & kids alone aren't a compelling enough reason, though they are a good reason. thanks so much sir, I will do that in my next application |

jnyuwa02: These people have seen our predecessors abandon their families and refused to come back, so I am not entirely surprised they deny someone with a child and wife for lacking home ties. It's at their discretion. I will advice you add landed property and business ties to Nigeria if you have any. But something tells me even if you do in your circumstance, it will not do given the denial even with wife and a child. I think you should try and appeal to their discretion without sounding desperate. Cos they even allow people without wife and children to go. It's all about discretion. You appeal to their discretion by painting yourself as a good guy. Get a letter from your pastor or any respectable leader in society attesting to your good deeds and sacrifice for your family. Anecdotal references by pastor on particular circumstances when your character was called to the test, will go a long way. That might do the trick in your circumstance. And to overcome purpose of visit and travel history, you might want to pay fees. Don't go for PGD if that is what you are going for, change. Get masters if possible. Write detailed letter of explanation why Canada, why your course cannot be taken in Nigeria. Detail your plans upon return back to Nigeria and how your education in Canada will be an investment in the future development of Nigeria. thanks I included my landed property and my car document , my family CAC certificate which I told them my wife will be taken care wem am away . I study physics with electronics am going for PGD wireless network infrastructure, av been working as an IT officer for 4 years nd I included my employment document. I have HND that is why I can go for Master. |

Rocorleone: First would be.... was your course of study in line with your practical experience? what course of study? Don't underestimate home ties, if there are docs of landed properties or business docs you have in Nigeria, do include all. I guess you are traveling with your son. or not. But be sure you have all aforementioned in check. Then you are good I included my landed property , my family business CAC which I told them my wife will be taken care wen am away. I study physics with electronics going for PGD in wireless networking infrastructure and I av been working as an IT officer for 4 years .I included all my employment document. I would av go for master but I have HND. |
