Edo people are very forgiving. I am sure they have forgiven us because they would not have kept that grudge for 12 years. From the responses we got from them when our aspirants went round the LGAs, I am sure they have forgiven us. It would be very uncharitable to think that Edo people have kept the grudge this long. They are done with that.
In the first instance, PDP has accepted the fact that they squandered the state's funds for their selfish use. PDP cannot return to Edo State. No going back to Egypt. Tufiakwa
Politics / Re: Edo Primaries: Obaseki Returns Nomination Form, Warns Oshiomhole To Stay Away by Lovetoglory(m): 7:10pm On Jun 03, 2020
KenOne:
Oshiomhole is a typical reason why governors don't always want national chairman to come from their state.

We all remembers Nwodo of PDP chairman from Enugu vs governor Chime (Enugu)
Bamanga Tukur of same PDP from Adamawa vs Murtala Nyarko (Adamawa)

Oshiomhole is an interested party and should recuse himself like Obaseki pointed out.

Obaseki will win re-election if APC denies him ticket he does Ortom and Tambuwal style by moving to PDP.

My happiness is that PDP has always being a strong force in Edo, couple with Obaseki an incumbent moving over then it's over for Oshiomhole, then the APC governors would have seen a concrete reason to remove him as national chairman for making APC in Edo to fall to PDP.

The Igbenidions of these world, the Benins, the Esan tribe the sworn enemies of Oshiomhole will never allow Oshiomhole have his way.

Just like the Edos have told Oshiomhole to practice what he preaches. You killed godfatherism but want to become the chief godfather. Ize-Iyamu is a bad market which Oshiomhole confirmed in 2016 by calling him the greatest thief Edo has ever produced, a lawyer without certificate, the reason he goes by name Pastor because no certificate to guarantee him the title Barrister.

I don't like what i hate. Rubbish!
keep waisting your precious time. One thing I know is that you don't bite off the hands that fed you. Obaseki is an ingrate and he should be ready to face the music. You those supporters clustering around him, including you, are not card-carrying members. Oshomole knows this very well and this is why he opted for the direct primary method. You think Osho is a full abi, oga, wait and see for yourself. This propaganda you are posting now can only be useful in the general elections. Not primary. Primary election is only for card carrying members. Chief, open your eyes well. Lol

Politics / Re: You Must Accept Defeat. PDP To Buhari. by Lovetoglory(m): 6:18am On Feb 24, 2019
baliyubla:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop whining over their “rejection” in the presidential election and quietly accept the will of the people.

The party said the APC and agents of the Buhari Presidency, were bewildered by defeat and thus plotting to discredit the votes which the opposition party sad Nigerians freely delivered to its candidate, Atiku Abubakar at their polling units.

A statement last night by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said part of alleged plot is to trigger mayhem and burn down Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in order to destroy all evidence of poll results.

The statement said, “The PDP reminds President Buhari and the APC that the polling unit is the foundation of the election and all our agents and supporters already have the results in all the polling centers and voting points across the country.

“As such, our party is holding strongly to our results as already delivered by the people at the polling units and such cannot be altered.

“The PDP, therefore, counsels President Buhari and his APC to respect the will of the people and accept the verdict of the election. It is not for President Buhari to direct his campaign spokesperson to tell Nigerians that no party should rejoice.

“For us in the PDP, we already have the figures and we are aware that Nigerians in their resolve and consensus have settled their votes in favour of the people’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the next President of our country.

“President Buhari should be prepared to take his defeat in good faith. After all, he will not be the first sitting President to lose in an election”.

Politics / Re: SOWORE 2019: Implication Of N100,000 Minimum Wage For Workers By Lai Brown by Lovetoglory(m): 5:19pm On Feb 20, 2019
Ventura1:
he Buhari-led Federal Government has been delaying the implementation of the miserly N30,000 new National Minimum Wage that was agreed to by the Tripartite committee. In a show of betrayal of trust and disregard for the ILO Minimum Wage Fixing Convention (C131), it even adopted the state governors' N27,000 recommendation as a National Council of State resolution. Nigerian workers are very much poorly-paid in an era of jumbo pay and public fund misappropriation by political office holders in comparison to other nations across the globe. That enables the increasing social gap between working-class people and a handful of bosses, rapidly eradicating the layer of working people earlier refers to as the "middle class".

Clearly, Buhari has shown no serious commitment to the interest of the working masses over the last four years. The lot of workers has been one of increasing hardship. Of course, the PDP candidate in the person of Atiku Abubakar is fundamentally not different from Buhari. Historically, he has a terrible record of not addressing the interest and the needs of the working class and the organized labour, specifically as the VIce-President.

He is rather interested in enriching his friends and families with the nation's commonwealth at the expense of the workers who create wealth. And he has promised to do more of pro-rich and anti-poor economics, if elected into office. Obviously, he has no plan for the poor masses, this is evident in his response when he was asked on a national broadcast about his plan for the poor masses, he responded to Kadaria Ahmed the interview; "are you a socialist?". That is a clear indication that Atiku, Buhari and co have no plan for the working-class people.

Yet there are signals from different corners that the global oil price might fall below what it is right now. That is a signal that the Nigerian economy that is hugely reliant on crude oil could be in for a rough time.

More concretely the global economic crisis that has lasted for more than a decade now still continues and with the anti-people policies/promises of Buhari, Atiku and co life is likely to get even more difficult for the working masses.

Economic crises and the minimum wage

Public-funded provision of sustained and inclusive social protection, a national minimum wage which is a living wage, renationalization of privatized corporations, initiating a massive industrialization process and ensuring labour market regulation are fundamental steps to take to safeguard and improve the lives of poor working-class people.

This will require anti-austerity measures and a clear departure from all forms of neoliberal ideas including public-private partnership (PPP) models. Atiku and Buhari are both tied to the neoliberal ideology and policies that brought the nation into crises in the first place. So, clearly they cannot help the working people out of it nor prevent another looming crisis, "their hands are tied".

The APC-led Federal Government and it predecessor PDP/Jonathan-led Federal Government placed the burden of economic crisis on the working people and poor masses through austerity, school fees hike, subsidy removal among many other attacks. Definitely governments that will not hesitate to make the workers bear the brunt of system failure, are not good for workers and youth.

Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) understands the importance of a living wage to the lives of the workers and jumpstarting an ailing economy as well. His commitment to N100,000 as the new National Minimum Wage if elected as president is welcome. The N100,000 minimum wage of Sowore/AAC can be better understood if situated in the context of his other pro-masses and anti-establishment policy plan. This includes massive industrialization and economic restructuring to close the gap between the few rich and the poor masses.

In an earlier article titled “Nigeria Workers, Minimum Wage and Capitalism “, I pointed out that a living wage for workers will boost local economy through increase in demand. It thus becomes a means of wealth re-distribution, with increased production and productivity benefiting an increasing number of people. This has both social and economic implications to working-class people and the nation in general.

In conclusion, we recommend that the African Action Congress (AAC) and the TakeitBack/Alternative for Masses Political Alternative (TiB-AMPA coalition) should put it at the center of their programs and mobilize the workers around N100,000 Minimum Wage as part of a broader agenda for decent work and social protection. Equally we urge the party to be unequivocal in its stance of "People before Profit”. This, in our view, requites a jettisoning of the logic of Public Private Partnership (PPP). In Nigeria and all over the world, PPPs have in essence just been about governments subsidizing private profits, in the long run.

Finally, we urge the Nigeria Workers to break with the bosses’ parties. APC, PDP and co have nothing to offer us except more attacks on our already battered living and working conditions. We must identify with pro-masses ideas and programs of the AAC/Sowore campaign. Workers of the world unite, we only have our chains to break!

I think Sowore got it very wrong. Go to to other developed nations of the world like the US, China, England, etc. They don't pay their workers in volume of cash. They only stabilize the economy and made everything cost of living very cheap. That is why if they are given a meagre amount, it can purchase more. If a worker receives 10000 naira as salary, it should be able to cater for many wants. So Nigeria's econonmy needs to stabilise that is what the country needs now. Not more salaries cause even those with more than enough salaries say one mila, are still crying wolf let alone .

Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, Ben Murray-Bruce, the Senator representing Bayelsa East has warned politicians against shedding blood of Nigerians.

Bruce on Tuesday urged the military and other security agencies to protect Nigerians and prosecute offenders rather than shed blood.

The Bayelsa lawmaker, on his Twitter page, said this in reference to statement by President Muhammadu Buhari ordering the military to ‘kill’ any ballot box snatcher.

According to him, the Armed forces must realize that “they are protectors of Nigerians.”

Bruce wrote: “Nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. Nobody at all. We must direct the armed forces to realize that they are the protectors of the Nigerian people.

“Under no circumstances must they kill, maim, or injure the Nigerian people. Prosecute instead of killing.”

Why Buhari's Shoot at Sight Order Is Coup Against the Electoral Act

I find it very worrisome that President Buhari is once again attempting to rape our laws like he had always done in the past ..

In 1983 is raped our laws by illegally removing an elected democratic govt despite what our constitution said about the ways a Nigerian President could be removed..

Just recently Buhari again attempted to use the the DSS to forcefully remove the Legislative leadership contrary to what out constitution stated .

Again the president tried to remove a serving CJN and appoint his own using imaginary powers he didn't have a problem that has now left our Judciary in tatters with with two CJNs

Why Today's Call Is Another Attempt to Suspend The Electoral Act.

The Nigeria Electoral Act is a set of laws that govern the conduct of Nigerian elections and there is no where in that electoral act where the death penalty is suggested for any Electoral crime at all, in Fact the law is even very clear on the fate of Ballot Snatchers under it and I quote

Section 129 (4) of the Electoral Act states, “Any person who snatches or destroys any election material commits an offence and is liable on conviction to 24 months imprisonment.”

In terms of electoral violence, the act stipulates in Section 131 that anyone found culpable “is liable on conviction to a fine of N1,000, 000 or imprisonment for a term of three years.”

Buharis statement is nothing but a clear suspension of our electoral act, infact a coup against the electoral act that was put in place to protect the electoral process and by making such a statement Buhari is attempting to suspend the act to give rise to anarchy and Jungle justice which will eventually cumulate into gross human rights abuse and intimidation of voters significant enough to alter the result of the exercise in Buhari favour..

Buharis statement must rejected by anyone who has a conscience and the fear of God .

Many thanks....SarkinYarki Bello
and this is why you as a person is still lagging behind. For you to be quoting constitution at this time, it clearly shows that you are a PDP member and as part of your plan is to scuttle the election by snatching ballot boxes. If you like keep quoting constitution nonsense, just hire boys first to snatch and wait for the repercussion. Ewu

I am fully in support of what the president says. Look at the foolish lawyer quoting electoral act my foot, did electoral say that electoral is a good thing? Why didn't your useless electoral act stipulated the remedy to ending the evil act of electoral violence? I have said and keep saying it, the problem we have in the country is constitution. The myopic obi of PDP that keeps mentioning China, can he implement what China did in eradicating corrupt practices if he were a president today? China in leading a corrupt free nation, made a decree that anyone found guilty of corruption act will be killed. I bet you, if we can implement this today, PDP that crying wolf everyday will never do so even at the slightest speech of our dear president. But a country as corrupt like Nigerians will never allow that cause they know that if that happens, many people will go down including Atiku homself. Next level, I hail thee. Sai baba

celebgistz2:
The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the plan to postpone today’s Presidential and National Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission was hatched inside the Presidency.

It alleged that the idea actually came from the Presidency, but warned that President Muhammadu Buhari’s defeat was merely a few days away.

The main opposition party also said that the Presidency was allegedly still planning to put some unnamed impediments on the way of the Independent National Electoral Commission in order to make sure that the election would not hold in a single day.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr kola Ologbondiyan, stated these at an ongoing press briefing while reacting to the postponement of the election by the electoral body.

He further stated that he was astonished like many other Nigerians who woked up only to discover that INEC has postponed and fixed new dates 23rd for the elections. I feel this is totally unacceptable from an institution like INEC that had been given 185 billon naira to organise it's logistics prior to this day.

Federal government has the financial capacity to bear the extra logistics burden that will be incurred from this postponement, but what happens to the rest of us?Who have planned marriage ceremonies, parties, funeral programs and other social activities who have fixed several events and occasions on the new dates,we are now forced to make new plans, resulting in the loss of time, financial burden and psychological problems.

Unfortunately for me,I have proposed 23rd February as the auditioning date for my project Sort talent hunt at Delta State. After spending so much on publicity, venue and other logistics,I am now forced to change the dates, even the final that was to hold on 27th February will also be affected.

This is the highest level of mismanagement and gross interpretation of corruption against the original Nigerians.

This is the kind of frustration melted on Nigerian youths on a daily basis, when they are frustrated out of businesses because of electricity, high expenses of goods and services due to foreign exchange rate, unemployment that has led many to crimes and taking risks' through the deserts to seek greener pastures in strange lands;the negative options is created by the insensitive of Nigerian government,it shows they don't really care about their citizens.

To even make this situation worst, the postponement was carried out at Night. So when did they realise that the logistics involved was not adequately prepared for? This was how the Goodluck Jonathan past administration postponed the 2015 presidential elections and we condemned it,we felt that with the change mantra that will be end of such maladministration.

This is a national embarrassment and deliberate attempt to ridicule us a Nation. Amb Francis Agoda

Agritech:
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT BUHARI ON THE POSTPONEMENT OF GENERAL ELECTIONS BY INEC

I am deeply disappointed that despite the long notice given and our preparations both locally and internationally, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the Presidential and National Assembly elections within hours of its commencement.

Many Nigerians have traveled to various locations to exercise their right to vote, and international observers are gathered.

INEC themselves have given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in complete readiness for the elections. We and all our citizens believed them.
This administration has ensured that we do not interfere in any way with the work of INEC except to ensure that all funds were released to the commission.

We now urge INEC to ensure not only that materials already distributed are safe and do not get into wrong hands, but that everything is done to avoid the lapses that resulted in this unfortunate postponement, and ensure a free and fair election on the rescheduled dates.
While I reaffirm my strong commitment to the independence, neutrality of the electoral umpire and the sanctity of the electoral process and ballot, I urge all political stakeholders and Nigerians to continue to rally round INEC at this trying national moment in our democratic journey.

I, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to refrain from all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development.

I have decided to move back to Abuja to ensure that the 14.00 hrs meeting called by INEC with all stakeholders is successful.

Muhammadu Buhari

baba you have my vote. Very patriotic and elder state man. No hate speech, no aspersions on any political party unlike the trouble maker party PDP. This is the man we want to lead us and not uncivilized people like Atiku

I don't understand how this should come as a surprise to us Nigerians

All feelers indicated that the election would be postponed
Nigerians are too quick to give a hasty judgement and start casting aspersions. No wonder up till now, we are still regarded as third world cos of the way we reason.
