My kids n I ve bn in america for some days now.it is our first in this country. We ve bn to london several times, same wt dubai but I think america is a must see for every one at least once in a life time. We spent some time in new york.we re in houston now. Intend going to florida by next week. Nigeria can attain a fraction of what I see here.I just pray for my country ooooo.

We left lagos on emirate at 2.40 pm..food on board was ok.got to dubai wt just 2 hours 3 mins transit. Just enuf to get us to our gate for onward trip to new york. The trip to new long is not beans o.long sha. Landed jfk at 8 am.went tru immigration.dey were very friendly n professional.the officer just asked what my relationship was wt my kids.dat was all. Stamped us for 6 months..customs was a breeze.thank God

Pls any one wt jetblue experience? Any tin like arik or aero ?

People ve bn traveling since.pls let's upload our poe experiences here so dat people esp first timers wil be informed. I know from my experience at UK poe dat it is one or two questions dey ask. Important thing is to ve a valid visa n a confirmed place of abode.

I m trying to remember the options on marital status in the ds 160. Was it just " single " and " married "? Thought it was more varied.

I ve used emirates airline before. In fact, I n my daughters wil use them in December to new York by the grace of God.tickets confirmed. they re abt the best in the Gulf region..
Unlike etihad, the point of entry is new york.

Emirates airline is abt the best in that region. Ve used them. Very comfy, staff pleasant, food good n dey re very generous wt their service.lol

Finally was able to get emirates for first week of December to last week of December for approximately 250 k.it has abt 2 hours 45 mins stop over in dubai..before now I got etihad for less than dat...only for my reservation to be canceled. Pls, does emirate do preclearence in dubai? I know etihad does..i didn't get a clear answer online..thank u..lady G, thank u for a wonderful job..

Lady G, thank u for ur response..i got etihad for first week of December to go n last week of December to return for 207,700... I ve used etihad before..i refer to them as " younger brother to emirates ".. dey are ok.i don't see fares dropping significantly below this rate.. make I pay jare..i don tire for the matter.

Can tickets to new York ever drop to 180 k??.. I want to travel in December. I had the mind that ticket fares would ve crashed significantly then but m still getting 250 ish. Or should I go ahead n pay or hold on a bit?.. Pls advice my good people. Happy Sunday

I could not stop laffing at ur honesty. I know that moment when ur approval is announced. Any way it usually two working days after ur interview. Dat means ur passport has bn ready since yday. Disregard the fact dat u didn't get a notification from DHL. I had my interview on Wednesday. The vo told me to pick up by " the end of the week ". I even tracked on line.no info. Friday morning I was at DHL. Dey asked if I got any notification. I said no. I had this body language of " m not leaving here wtout my passport ". Dey checked n saw it.lol

At what point do I pay for my hotel reservation?.I already ve my visa..before I depart Nigeria or when I get to the hotel in America? If from here, do I pay for the entire duration of my stay? Thank u my gurus

I think I need to share this. If u did a joint application wt any / all members of ur family n all visas granted pls travel wt them at least the first time..i think it is seen as a kind of " group application ".My brother applied wt his wife, got the visas n traveled alone to new York. It was a drilling session for him at poe.he had to say she is pregnant.part 2 of the drama was his hotel reservation. He said he was going to stay for 2 weeks but his reservation was for 5 days. It was the 5 days they stamped for him o. He is bk to Nigeria after just 5 days..bought ticket for 320 k, paid for hotel etc for 5 days. By the way it was a b1/ b2 visa..

Intresting thread. I want to say dat nowhere is easy to live in. U wil not be picking money from the streets. But wt hard work, ,determination n honesty one can live anywhere n be successful once u ve a system dat works n is alive to its responsibility. If anybody wants to migrate to America legally or otherwise, by all means do so. But get there n be humble n calm. Don't get involve in crime. Things can really work for u. I ve seen it happen

I n my daughters flew etihad in august 2013. We were going to London n wanted to spend some days in dubai first. I must say it was not bad at all. I ve flown emirates before. I think all those Arabian airlines ve same standard. No matter what u do pls run from arik.i had a terrible experience wt them in 2012 while coming from London. We had to check into a hotel at their expense while dey sought out their wahala

Praise the living God...He never fails.my teenage daughters n I just had our tourist visa applications approved this morning in the 7.30 batch in abuja. It was fun bn interviewed by the guy in cubicle 8.. .no single document asked / checked.it was like a chat wt a friend. The ladies there today were very hard nuts..they were drilling machines o.lol..i really want to appreciate nairaland.i read every post over a period of 2 months. Google was my home teacher.. I ve bn a silent follower on this thread. I must say I admire n respect all the " gurus" in the house.they are dedicated to the cause. But people and their intentions differ. Let's continue to encourage those dat ve genuine reasons for traveling to America.God help Nigeria
