The adjective there is the answer. He became a LIVING soul. You just quoted Genesis 2:7 and you did not see the breath of LIFE? The breath of LIFE made him a LIVING soul. The Bible says that the soul that sins will die Ezekiel 18:20. Does the soul commit a sin separately from the body for it to warrant the sentence of the Body that dies? When Adam sinned, a part of his punishments was death, so was it his soul that sinned? If the soul is separate from the body, what sin does it commit that would cause it to partake in the punishment of the body? Does the soul have a brain to think or hear? Where does the soul go after death? Show me in the Bible. The Bible clearly spoke about the spirit (which is the breath of life) returning to God but what about the soul? Kindly tell me, when was the soul created and by who? danvon: |

You, the sane brain here according to you, can't you defend your own faith using the Bible? Psychologically when one cannot prove his point he hinges on attacking the other as a tactic. That is what you are doing. We are both believers in the Bible, explain yourself. danvon: |

danvon:Hellenistic/ pagan doctrine danvon:The word does not rhyme with the Greek translation. It says Godship and not Godhead. Some translators use divine nature. You may try researching using other Bible translations. King James version themselves are ashamed of their spurious translation. danvon:You are reading and publicly quoting a spurious version of the Bible. Only if you would take some time to do a little research to see the heretic allusion made by the translators of the King James Bible that you are reading. http://www.dnkjb.net/1189chapters/NT621JN05.htm follow the link to see how King James translators themselves clearly spelt the heresy out 400 years after that mendacious allusion. You are trying too hard to synchronise Godhead with trinity. History already has the records so whatever you do, the receipt will be presented to you at the counter. danvon:How many Gods were mentioned in that verse? danvon:I suggest that you ask someone else to read and explain the link to you because you probably might not be able to understand it fully with a swaying mindset. |

Scholar8200: Ezekiel 18:4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so also the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul who sins is the one who will die. Jehovah alone has the final decision to bring one back to life or forget about him. For example, Lazarus and Jairus daughter were raised up. They came back with refreshed bodies, especially Lazarus who was in his third phase of decomposition. They were resurrected to become living souls again. A living soul is a person who is living or a living creature as most Bible translations would use it. Consider 1 Peter 3:20 "... eight souls, were carried safely through the water." That was talking about Noah and his family after surviving the flood. They were referred to as souls just as Adam was referred to as a living soul at creation. Scholar8200:The Bible tells us that the dead are in the memory of God Revelation 3:5; Isaiah 26:14. The book of Revelation is a vision of what is to happen. It does not mean that people are literally crying because the Bible says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all. God has all righteous ones in his memory and he will avenge their deaths at a set date. The sense of depicting the soul as a spirit that leaves the body wearing a designer's outfit and able to inflict pain on humans is a hoax. Psalm 146:4 His spirit goes out, he(the sinning SOUL that died) returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish. There is no separate mention of God creating the soul distinctively. He created man, blew in the breadth of life and he became a living soul. The adjective 'living' used before the word 'soul' gives a good explanation. Ezekiel 18:20 The soul dies and at death, Man knows nothing at all Ecclesiastes 9:5. Ecclesiastes 3:5 for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals; they all have the same outcome. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit. So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile. 20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust |

danvon:Yes! It is the same. We also have living and dead body King James Version He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days. King James Bible I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. danvon:You blasphemed. Jesus was killed for blasphemy that is how serious it is. One can be killed for it. So, when you say something wrong about someone you apologise for it. That is a quality of a true a Christian. danvon:1 John 4:14 In addition, we ourselves have seen and are bearing witness that the Father has sent his Son as Savior of the world. danvon:A blasphemy! Who told you that Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in hell? We believe in hell. danvon:Can you show me one single scripture with the words BLESSED TRINITY? danvon:A blasphemy! We do not believe in reincarnation. Why do you enjoy lying against us? danvon:Vituperation! I just showed you 2 verses in your cherished King James Bible that you have been carrying for so long, yet you do not know that it has the word "soul" in it. It took a Jehovah's witness to show you what is inside the Bible that you are carrying. Does it make you WONDER? We believe the Bible 100% and it is the stronghold of our beliefs. For example, if you believe all that the Bible says, Is the word TRINITY found in the Bible? If so, show me. If not, do you clearly believe your Bible? danvon:The misconception is that you may be believing that Jesus wrote the King James version. The King James version was only written in 1611 which is about 406 years ago and it has been revised many times to correct heretic text added to it. The last book of the Bible was written in 96 CE. For your information, the scriptures were written in Hebrew and in Greek languages not Shakespearean English. The King James version was not the first Bible translated into English. Do not go believing that King James is an angel, King James was only a King of Great Britain. He authorised the works of the translation and publishing of that Bible translation you know as King James version without giving credit to William Tyndale, whose work he plagiarized. He also removed some certain texts and words from Tyndale's version like the name of God, Jehovah. Note: The version of King James Bible that you have is obsolete to the King James printing press. They have revised their Bible many times and I doubt if you keep up to date with your most cherished King James Bible. |

Jehovah's witnesses read many Bible translations including the KJV. It is not good to malign others, bro. Making blasphemous comments about others to make them vicious before the eyes of others is not a good thing to do for any Christian. The Bible does not encourage that. But, since you said that we do not read the KJV, let us see if you read it at all. Genesis 2:7 in the KJV is in perfect agreement with Jehovah's Witnesses belief of the soul. Below are two different KJV editions to your delight. Genesis 2:7 King James Bible And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. King James 2000 Bible And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Now, will you tender a public apology to the Jehovah's witnesses for blasphemy? danvon: |
Religion / Do You Have An Immortal Soul? by lovingJehovah: 3:36pm On Dec 08, 2017 |
Are we just flesh and blood? Or are we more than the sum total of the elements of which we are made? Are we here today and gone tomorrow? Or does some invisible part of us go on living after death? THOUGH world religions have developed a bewildering array of beliefs about the Hereafter, most of them agree on one basic idea: Something inside a person is immortal and goes on living after death. Many people believe that this “something” is a soul. What do you believe? Are we part flesh and part soul? What is a soul? Do humans have an immortal soul? How vital that we know the truth about what we are! “The Man Came to Be a Living Soul” Is “soul” a part of man that separates from the body at death and goes on living? According to the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary, “often the soul is equated with the total person.” For instance, Genesis 2:7 states: “Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.” The first man, Adam, was a soul. The understanding that the word “soul” can mean the whole person is supported by other scriptures. For example, the Bible speaks of a soul’s doing work. (Leviticus 23:30) The soul is spoken of as being impatient, irritated, sleepless, fearful, and depressed. (Judges 16:16; Job 19:2; Psalm 119:28; Acts 2:43; 1 Thessalonians 5:14) Referring to a soul as a person, Romans 13:1 states: “Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities.” And at 1 Peter 3:20, we read: “In Noah’s days, . . . a few people, that is, eight souls, were carried safely through the water.” Nothing in these scriptures indicates that the soul is some immaterial entity that lives on after death. What about animals and plants? Are they souls? Consider how the Bible describes the creation of animals. “Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls,” God commanded. On the next creative day, God said: “Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.” (Genesis 1:20, 24) Therefore, all living creatures—human or animal—are souls. Scripturally, plants are not referred to as souls. The word “soul” is used in yet another sense. At Job 33:22, we read: “His soul draws near to the pit, and his life to those inflicting death.” Here, the terms “soul” and “life” are used in parallel, one amplifying the meaning of the other. “Soul,” then, can also refer to the life that one enjoys as a living soul, or person. Hence, the Scriptures refer to Moses’ enemies who were seeking to take his life as “all the men who were hunting for [his] soul.” (Exodus 4:19) And concerning Jesus Christ, the Bible says: “The Son of man came . . . to give his soul [life] a ransom in exchange for many.”—Matthew 20:28. The Bible’s definition of “soul” is simple and consistent. The word can refer to a human or an animal or to the life that a creature enjoys as a living soul. As we will see, this understanding harmonizes with what the Bible says happens to the soul at death. ‘The Soul That Is Sinning Will Die’ The Bible states: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) The distressed prophet Elijah “began to ask that his soul might die.” (1 Kings 19:4) Likewise, Jonah “kept asking that his soul might die.” (Jonah 4: Yes, the soul dies when the person dies; it is not immortal. Since a person is a soul, to say that someone died is to say that his soul died. But what about Bible texts that speak of the going out and the coming back of the soul? Concerning what happened to Rachel when she gave birth to a son, the Bible says: “As her soul was going out (because she died) she called his name Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.” (Genesis 35:18) And referring to the resurrection of a widow’s son, 1 Kings 17:22 states: “Jehovah listened to Elijah’s voice [in prayer], so that the soul of the child came back within him and he came to life.” Do these passages indicate that the soul is some invisible, shadowy part that can escape from or enter a body? Well, remember that one meaning of the word “soul” is “life.” Hence, Rachel’s soul was going out in that her life was going out. In fact, some Bibles render the phrase “her soul was going out” as “her life was ebbing away” (Knox) and “she breathed her last” (Jerusalem Bible). Similarly, in the case of the widow’s son, it was life that returned to the boy.—1 Kings 17:23. What Man Is Clearly, the Bible shows what man is. He does not have a soul; he is a soul. Because of what man is—his nature—any hope for future life for the dead depends on a resurrection, a raising up. The Bible promises: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear [Jesus’] voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” (John 5:28, 29) That sure promise of a resurrection—not the teaching of the immortality of the soul—is the basis for real hope for the dead. How vital it is to gain accurate knowledge of what the resurrection is and what it means for mankind! Also essential is knowledge of God and Christ, for in prayer Jesus said: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) Jehovah’s Witnesses in your community will be happy to assist you in studying the Bible so that you can increase your knowledge of God, his Son, and His promises. You have our invitation to contact the Witnesses or to write to the publishers of this journal. |

You see, the people who are telling you all the lies ahout Jehovah's Witnesses and sending you forth to denigrate them did not arm you enough for the mission. Your goal here is not to represnt the good news of God but to tear down a group of people who chose to live according to the Bible. There are many aspects of your doctrines that you cannot defend using your own Bible yet you pick on trivials that someone told you about the Jehovah's Witnesses and you add viperous lies to false stories to make us appear vicious. Jehovah is not man. At the bottom of all that you have vituperated against us, the truth is the obvious headlines on the frontpages of Nairaland and newspapers all over the world. The negative realities concerning pastors that you revere and canonise. When news about your church pops up, you defend it with your lifeline. Think! Why do you find it hard to share the same measure of hate toward them? The answer is in 2 Corinthians 6:8 "through glory and dishonor, through bad report and good report. Richdotcom:I am very familiar with your red meat rhetoric. You were not sincerely asking people questions. The deal is, you have always had a goal to disparage the Jehovah's Witnesses. It is quite obvious that you have a programmed list of questions and familiar topics you recycle whenever you meet any Jehovah's witness. In Psychology, it is the desire for power and control caused by insecurity or complex. You discover that you crave to blast any Jehovah's witness that you meet and for some time now, you have been deriving fun or satisfaction from it. It is addictive and may extend to other aspects of your life if you do not watch out for it. As I clearly said, we do not ask anyone not to get an education. We encourage seeking first God's kingdom above anything else as Jesus said in Matthew 6:33. We do not encourage the love of the world and the desires of the materialism of this system of things as 1 John 2:15 can corroborate. We admonished everyone to find a balance not to lean on materialism and stiffle their spirituality. JW are educated everywhere in the world and there are many professionals who are JW. We receive the best training ever. There are hundreds of thousands of nuns and Priests out there who quit schools for the seminaries, I wonder why you pretend not to see those. Jehovah's witnesses do not force anyone to quit higher learning. We admonish all to pay more attention to the signs of the time as we draw nearer to the conclusion of the system of things. Many Yahoo yahoo boys quit schools, footballers, musicians, politicians, actors etc. Have you ever referred to them as mind-controlling? For example, Music renders millions who do not make it to the top hopeless in life, have you ever referred to music as mind-controlling? How about football? How about Priests and nuns? Would you play a biased victor? Richdotcom:If I visit a doctor or nurse who sounds like you, I would object to receiving any form of treatment from him. solite3:The Bible verse that you read said that it was Jesus himself who made the statement that before Abraham he had been living. It wasn't "they" who were right, because "they" did not make that statement. Therefore, Jesus had no reason to correct someone else for a point that he himself made. solite3:You, in turn, have become one of Jesus blasphemers by your statement above. Why didn't you read that chapter before lying against Jesus? John 10:34-36 clearly details Jesus explanation of verse 31 and he corrected their thoughts. Jesus clearly said the reason why they accused him verse 36 "...Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?" But, here you are telling the whole world a different story. Why? solite3:You should do proper research concerning what you defend. Now, here is a brief one. In a bid to keep control of his religiously divided empire, the hellenistic emperor of Rome, Constantine, who splurged on bacchanal, ecstatic orgies and following the line of his predecessors in killing true Christians that defiantly refuse to embrace paganism, arranged for a gathering called the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE, and that was the birth of the trinity doctrine in Christianity. Who were the attendees? Pagans! Wolves in sheep clothing, Pharisees etc. No true Christian would ever accept an invitation of that sort, and do you know why? The answer is in 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?. Jesus met Constantine's progenitor and told him the words in John 18:37 "... Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Would a true Christian be yoked in a gathering with groups of pagans who persecuted and killed them to listen and negotiate his belief? No! Jesus referred to the Romans as the disgusting thing Matthew 24:15. You would not expect a Pagan to legalize true Christianity for you, would you? Did you know Jesus died in 33 CE while apostle John completed his last book of the Bible around 96 CE? He possible died sometime afterwards. Did you know the council of Nicaea in 325 was approximately three generations after the last apostle died ( 229 years)? Did you know that after Constantine legalized Christianity in Rome, true Christians continued to be persecuted because their beliefs didn't agree with the resolution of the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE?. Why would persecution continue even after then? The answer is the adjective "true". True Christians never accepted or dared to blend false doctrines into their faith even if it would cost them comfort or even their own lives. Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. solite3:How does this explain 3 in one God? Is there a mention of "God' in this verse? No! What is the name of the holy spirit in which it says to baptise? Referring to Acts 1:5 could water be synonymous with the holy spirit? What is the difference between the Holy Spirit and the holy ghost (spirit and ghost)? How can you reconcile that verse to Jesus teachings in John 17:3 and Luke 11:13? Jesus clearly told us who his father is and who he is as the son. About the holy spirit, he never taught that it is a God, but a good gift. It is God's active force and not God itself. It has never been a person but a force with which Jehovah accomplishes. Acts 1:8; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Galatians 5:22, 23; Luke 1:35; Micah 3:8 1 Peter 1:3 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead". 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 solite3:How about Jesus as a spirit? When he said the words in your famous Bible verse "I and the father are one" was he a spirit or a man? How do you explain Revelation 1:1 The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place...? Remember Jesus was no longer a man at the time this book was written. he was already in heaven as a spirit at Jehovah's right hand. The husband is a human and so is the wife. Jehovah is a spirit and so is his son, Jesus. solite3:We do not put Jesus down. He is our king and saviour. As he told us in John 17:3, there is ONE TRUE GOD and he is the son of that one. He said it! We are grateful to the father for sending us his beloved son to save us from the wrath of sin and death. No one is putting him down but you. Lying against him and believing that you are exonerating him is insidious. You may think that you mean well, but you have deviated from the course of true worship. Tell the truth about the word of God just as it is written. You cannot claim to love someone by lying against him or making him a liar. Calling Jesus God is committing the same blasphemy that the Pharisees committed that finally led to his death. So, stop attempting to kill Jesus for a second time by blaspheming. Just tell the truth written in the Bible and not making Jesus a liar. Here are his words in John 17:3; John 5:30; John 14:28; John 10:29; John 20:17. solite3:So are Jesus and the father spirits. They are both spirits as you and your father are humans. solite3:Did you know that your heresy is exposed in the emboldened above? Where in the Bible is it recorded that he was made lower than God? I really want to see it. Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus who was made... No offence intended, Let me ask you, do you know what a passive verb is? 1 Like |

I appreciate your comment. Richdotcom:Just a reminder, my article is about 'tolerance'. Richdotcom:I do not believe any Jehovah's Witness has ever referred to your bill as unclean. We do not use the word donation, but a contribution. Richdotcom:Well, no one asked wives to stop talking to their husbands because they are disfellowshipped. Even in the Bible, there is a provision for unbelieving mates. The Bible has principles and we cannot bend them to please anyone or accommodate popular beliefs. Jesus said that his sheep will hear his voice and here we are. In all you are saying, you are a puritan and your opinion is what really matters to Christians. You did not even back up your thought using the Bible. We do not follow dictates of men but the word of God. Richdotcom:Wow! Astonishingly you have been far and wide and no disrespect to your achievements but I wasn't talking about countries. I told you about my family's multi-religious background to explain the views from in and out. What church do you represent? Richdotcom:'Worship' makes the difference. Would you expect Jesus to join the Pharisees in prayer when he himself condemned the public display that they called prayer? No! We do not keep enmity with others or pre-judge. We try to see the good in others. You should also ask when we go out to preach to them if we isolate. No! We do not care what and who people are but we are interested in sharing the message about Jehovah and his son, Jesus to all sorts of men. Richdotcom:Oh, nice! It is good that you shared that statement you heard and the reality of your experience. There are many professionals who are JW working in diverse sectors and fields. Nevertheless, what we watch out for is the pursuits of riches and the mundane things of the world and losing out on the real prize. We are all encouraged to maintain a balance so as not to make a lean that might suppress our love and zeal in the service of Jehovah. In the Bible, Timothy actually left behind the opportunity to school in the highly esteemed Athens for the sake of preaching the good news and he was a great assistance to apostle Paul. Would it be a crime for one to leave behind the opportunity to pursue things of this world for the sake of pursuing a full-time goal in the service of God? Moses also left all the glory in Egypt to play a vital role in the deliverance of God's people. No one is forced to quit school, but we are admonished to pay more than the usual attention to spiritual matters because Matthew 6:33 exhorts us to seek first God's kingdom. At the end of the day, what is the use of the certificates? It becomes trash when one is old or incapacitated. But he who does the will of God remains forever. Richdotcom:Are there no other boys in town? This same boy keeps dying in all anti-jw comments on Nairaland. Everyone kills the same boy online every time they talk about JW and blood transfusion. I really doubt if you are in the medical field. No certified health practitioner would utter such remark and end it with "hahahahahah". Do you know that you are culpable for this comment? Have you ever heard of the "Patient Rights"? It is taught in medical schools. How did antibiotics become blood? Can you share the name of this hospital? Richdotcom:Religion can also be explained as a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion. Money, music, career, science etc. No matter what one says, there is something that he puts his faith and time in and that is his religion. If you broaden your perception, you will come to understand that millions all around the world grope in banality because they ignore the basic counsels written in the Bible. The Bible best describes it as a chase after the wind. It will always get to that final moment for everyone. |
Religion / Interfaith—is It God’s Way? by lovingJehovah: 12:53pm On Dec 06, 2017 |
“Does religion unite or divide us?” That question was posed to the readers of The Sydney Morning Herald. Of those who responded, the vast majority—some 89 percent—felt that religion divides us. SUPPORTERS of interfaith, however, view the matter quite differently. “Show me a religion that doesn’t care about compassion . . . , that doesn’t care about stewardship of the environment . . . , that doesn’t care about hospitality,” asked Eboo Patel, founder of the Interfaith Youth Core. Indeed, Buddhists, Catholics, Protestants, Hindus, Muslims, and many others have on occasion joined forces to fight poverty, campaign for human rights, work to ban land mines, or draw attention to environmental issues. Multi-faith dialogue circles have participated in efforts to seek mutual understanding and inspiration. They celebrate their diversity with candle-lighting ceremonies, festivals, music, prayers, and so on. Is the mingling of religions the way to heal the conflict among faiths? Is interfaith God’s way of bringing about a better world? UNITY—AT WHAT PRICE? One of the largest of the interfaith organizations boasts that it has members representing over 200 different faiths and that it is active in 76 countries. Its declared objective is “to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation.” That, however, has proved to be easier said than done. For example, according to the organizers, their charter had to be carefully worded so as not to offend the many faiths and indigenous groups that signed the document. Why? One factor was that there was disagreement on whether God should be included in the charter. Subsequently, any reference to or mention of God was avoided. If God is left out of the picture, what role does faith play? Furthermore, how does such an interfaith movement differ from any secular charitable or philanthropic organization? For good reason, the aforementioned interfaith body describes itself, not as a religious entity, but as “a bridge-building organization.” IS PROMOTING GOOD—GOOD ENOUGH? “All major religious traditions carry basically the same message: that is love, compassion and forgiveness,” says the Dalai Lama, a prominent interfaith proponent. He adds: “The important thing is that they should be part of our daily lives.” Granted, the value of such virtues as love, compassion, and forgiveness cannot be overemphasized. In what has been called the Golden Rule, Jesus said: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them.” (Matthew 7:12) But is true faith just a matter of promoting what is good? About many who claimed to serve God in his day, the apostle Paul said: “I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge.” What was the problem? “Because of not knowing the righteousness of God,” Paul said, they were “seeking to establish their own.” (Romans 10:2, 3) Lacking accurate knowledge of what God wanted them to do, their zeal—and faith—were really in vain.—Matthew 7:21-23. THE BIBLE’S VIEW OF INTERFAITH “Happy are the peacemakers,” Jesus said. (Matthew 5:9) Jesus practiced what he preached by promoting nonviolence and taking a message of peace to people of diverse religious backgrounds. (Matthew 26:52) Those who responded were drawn into an unbreakable bond of love. (Colossians 3:14) But was Jesus’ objective merely to build bridges among people of various backgrounds so that they could get along in peace? Did he join with others in their religious practices? The religious leaders of the sects of the Pharisees and the Sadducees viciously opposed Jesus—even sought to kill him. How did he react? Jesus instructed his disciples: “Let them be. Blind guides is what they are.” (Matthew 15:14) Jesus refused to acknowledge spiritual brotherhood with such individuals. Some time later, a Christian congregation was formed in Corinth, Greece—a city renowned for its pluralistic, multireligious culture. How were the Christians there to act in that environment? The apostle Paul wrote them: “Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers.” Why not? Paul reasoned: “What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?” Then he gave this counsel: “Therefore, get out from among them, and separate yourselves.”—2 Corinthians 6:14, 15, 17. Clearly, the Bible speaks against the practice of interfaith. But you might wonder, ‘How, then, can true unity be achieved?’ BUILDING TRUE UNITY The International Space Station—a technological wonder orbiting the earth—is the result of the united efforts of some 15 nations. Could you imagine this project being accomplished if the participating nations did not agree on what blueprint to use? That, essentially, is the situation with the modern-day interfaith movement. Although cooperation and respect are touted, there is no agreed-upon blueprint for building faith. As a result, moral and doctrinal issues remain as divisive as ever. The Bible contains God’s standards, which are like a blueprint. We can build our lives on what the Bible says. Those who have embraced it have overcome racial and religious prejudices and have learned to work together in peace and unity. Foretelling this, God said: “I will change the language of the peoples to a pure language, so that all of them may call on the name of Jehovah, to serve him shoulder to shoulder.” Unity results from the “pure language,” God’s standard of worship.—Zephaniah 3:9; Isaiah 2:2-4. Jehovah’s Witnesses cordially invite you to visit a Kingdom Hall near you to see for yourself the remarkable peace and unity that exist among them.—Psalm 133:1. Is Truth Relative? Supporters of interfaith often feel that no religion can lay sole claim to truth. In fact, they may say that exclusivism among religions is what gives rise to many of the problems we see today. Contrary to such opinions, Jehovah is described as “the God of truth,” and he said of himself: “I do not change.” (Psalm 31:5; Malachi 3:6) About God, Jesus said: “Your word is truth.” (John 17:17) That truth is revealed in the divinely inspired Scriptures, the Bible. It instructs us and equips us “for every good work.”—2 Timothy 3:16, 17. |

Sorry to hear about the loss in your neighbourhood. Nonetheless, someone's belief is not the cause of death of boys. We know of Sickness, accident, war, violence, famine, poor medical facilities, doctor strikes, favouritism in the hospital etc. Contrary to your myth, Jehovah's witnesses do not have a Church hospital. We accept any medical health that is genuine and does not contradict Bible's principles. We do not have any challenge that would attract concern or pity of anyone. We have a medical committee that assists us to cater to our medical needs when it is necessary. Thanks for the reference to jw.org. Solidkay: |

Common misconceptions Myth: Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in medicine or medical treatment. Fact: We seek the best possible medical care for ourselves and our families. When we have health problems, we go to doctors who have skill in providing medical and surgical care without blood. We appreciate advancements that have been made in the medical field. In fact, bloodless treatments developed to help Witness patients are now being used to benefit all in the community. In many countries, any patient can now choose to avoid blood-transfusion risks, such as blood-borne diseases, immune-system reactions, and human errors. Myth: Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that faith will heal a person’s ailments. Fact: We do not practice faith healing. Myth: Avoiding blood transfusions is very costly. Fact: Medical treatments that avoid blood transfusions are cost-effective. * Myth: Many Witnesses, including children, die each year as a result of refusing blood transfusions. Fact: This statement is totally unfounded. Surgeons regularly perform such complex procedures as heart operations, orthopedic surgery, and organ transplants without the use of blood transfusions. * Patients, including children, who do not receive transfusions usually fare as well as or better than those who do accept transfusions. * In any case, no one can say for certain that a patient will die because of refusing blood or will live because of accepting it. Why don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses accept blood transfusions? This is a religious issue rather than a medical one. Both the Old and New Testaments clearly command us to abstain from blood. (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:10; Deuteronomy 12:23; Acts 15:28, 29) Also, God views blood as representing life. (Leviticus 17:14) So we avoid taking blood not only in obedience to God but also out of respect for him as the Giver of life. Changing viewpoints Complex surgeries can be successfully performed without blood transfusions At one time, the medical community generally viewed strategies for avoiding transfusions, so-called bloodless medicine, as extreme, even suicidal, but this has changed in recent years. For example, in 2004, an article published in a medical education journal stated that “many of the techniques developed for use in Jehovah’s Witness patients will become standard practice in years to come.” * An article in the journal Heart, Lung and Circulation said in 2010 that “‘bloodless surgery’ should not be limited to J[ehovah’s] W[itnesses] but should form an integral part of everyday surgical practice.” Thousands of doctors worldwide now use blood-conservation techniques to perform complex surgeries without transfusions. Such alternatives to blood transfusions are used even in developing countries and are requested by many patients who are not Jehovah’s Witnesses. |

You poorly represented Judaism. Your knowledge is built on a move against the Bible but not for Judaism. Immediately I reversed the argument, you exposed your void. Jehovah's Witnesses would be glad to help you appreciate the Bible and cut through the dogma. You are an intelligent creature and Jehovah invites you to succumb to his direction found in the Bible. No other book offers any hope for the future. Do not waste your life chasing the wind when the truth is with you all along. PrecisionFx: |
Religion / Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Believe In Jesus? by lovingJehovah: 4:16pm On Dec 05, 2017 |
Yes. We believe in Jesus, who said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) We have faith that Jesus came to earth from heaven and gave his perfect human life as a ransom sacrifice. (Matthew 20:28) His death and resurrection make it possible for those exercising faith in him to gain everlasting life. (John 3:16) We also believe that Jesus is now ruling as King of God’s heavenly Kingdom, which will soon bring peace to the entire earth. (Revelation 11:15) However, we take Jesus at his word when he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) So we do not worship Jesus, as we do not believe that he is Almighty God |

JOHN 6:48-71 EATING HIS FLESH AND DRINKING HIS BLOOD MANY ARE STUMBLED AND STOP FOLLOWING HIM In a synagogue in Capernaum, Jesus is teaching about his being the true bread from heaven. His comments evidently add to what he said to the people who returned from the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee, those who ate from the loaves and fish provided there. Jesus continues his discussion, saying: “Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness and yet they died.” In contrast, he explains: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever; and for a fact, the bread that I will give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.”—John 6:48-51. In the spring of 30 C.E., Jesus told Nicodemus that God loved the world so much that he provided his Son as a Savior. Jesus now stresses the need to eat of his flesh by exercising faith in the sacrifice he will make. That is the way to receive everlasting life. However, the people take exception to Jesus’ words. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” they ask. (John 6:52) Jesus wants them to understand that he means this figuratively, not literally. What he adds shows this to be his meaning. “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, . . . for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me.”—John 6:53-56. Imagine how offensive that may sound to Jewish listeners! They might think that Jesus is suggesting cannibalism or a violation of God’s law against consuming blood. (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 17:10, 11) But Jesus is not referring to eating flesh or drinking blood literally. He is showing that all who want everlasting life must exercise faith in the sacrifice that he is to make when he offers up his perfect human body and pours out his lifeblood. Yet, even many of his disciples do not understand this teaching. Some react: “This speech is shocking; who can listen to it?”—John 6:60. Because Jesus realizes that some of his disciples are murmuring, he asks: “Does this stumble you? What, therefore, if you should see the Son of man ascending to where he was before? . . . The sayings that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” With that, many disciples leave and no longer follow him.—John 6:61-64. So Jesus addresses his 12 apostles with the question: “You do not want to go also, do you?” Peter responds: “Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life. We have believed and have come to know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:67-69) What an expression of loyalty, even though at this point Peter and the other apostles do not fully understand what Jesus is teaching on this matter! While pleased by Peter’s response, Jesus observes: “I chose you twelve, did I not? Yet one of you is a slanderer.” (John 6:70) Jesus is speaking about Judas Iscariot. It is possible that at this point Jesus detects that Judas is starting down a wrong course. Still, it certainly brings Jesus satisfaction to know that Peter and the other apostles are not dissuaded from following him and from sharing in the lifesaving work that he is doing. |

Thank you for expressing your thought. Richdotcom:Well, we will not stop you from saying a prayer to God. If you want to say your prayer, it is between you and God and no one else's business. In the factual truth, Jehovah's witnesses cannot shut you down from praying to your God. Are you telling God that excuse, Sir?Did you truly intend to pray? I have never seen that happening when a JW would have the power to stop one from exercising his fundamental right. The only obvious is one forcing a Jehovah's Witness to participate in a prayer he did not solicit. I have encountered situations like that a lot when people try to force me to close my eyes, clap or say Amen to their prayers. We do not force people to participate in our prayers. Jesus did not teach us that method. If prayer is what you want, go ahead and we do not stop that. Richdotcom:Good one! We do not force anything on anybody. It is not our way. We persuade and if one is not responding we let him be. Let us be fair, if they were actually giving out money, would you have acted the same way? Richdotcom:Check the emboldened above and think. To ostracise is to exclude one (make one leave) a group or company but in a case where the person has left willingly, what further good does ostracism do but to formally announce the departure? We do not ostracise, rather people choose to ostracise themselves from the law that Christ gave us by acting against it (Ephesians 5:3). We do not condone evil acts in our religion. Anyone found carrying out such act is disfellowshipped or reproved 1 Corinthians 5:13. We do not consider such ones as enemies though. They still come to our Kingdom Halls and attend our events. When they repent of their sinful ways they are welcomed back as our brothers. We do not throw anyone away. It is called discipline. But, disfellowshiped ones do not join us in preaching. We will not condone illicit conducts in our religion for the sake of increasing in population, favouritism or to please people on the outside. To us, the word of God comes above anything and anyone. Richdotcom:I for one come from a Catholic and Voodoo background and I have relatives who are from so many religions and even the most mocked in Nigeria. I have been to many churches and I have been invited to many. I can tell you from a personal experience that you have not been to as much church as I have been. You will display the same attitude that you accuse the Jehovah's Witnesses of if people in the church of Satan invites you to their church event. If someone in white garment church invites you to their cast and bind all night will you go? If a Hindu or a Buddhist invites you to his temple, will you go? Be forthright my brother. Or will you display the holier-than-thou attitude that you yourself condemn? We read the news every day of pastors who boldly burn shrines in people's villages call people witches and wizards because of their religions. We see people get stoned, burned and mobbed even by the same people who label the Jehovah's witnesses evil for not attending their churches. People who prey on the weak and deny them of their fundamental human right to worship claim Jehovah's witnesses do not come to their churches. There are so many things I cannot express on a public forum not to denigrate people. I have seen it all out there and I am proud to be a JW. Jehovah's Witnesses are not so keen to just have people come to our Kingdom Halls. Before you get invited, you surely must have heard the preaching from someone. In your situation, you joined a friend who is a JW. Our goal is to pass the message in the Bible to people and not to populate our kingdom halls. We are not interested in bringing people to fill up the whole place. We can sell that product but, no! We have a standard to follow and it is that of Jesus. Preaching the message about God and his kingdom is our priority. And, if we are not convinced that what we have is the truth about God why would we be preaching it? It will be a waste of time. Every genuine marketer believes that he has the best product of all that exists and he sells it with conviction. We do not condemn any religion, but we condemn false religious beliefs that disagree with the Bible. Richdotcom:No one is a prisoner in our religion. We all share freedom. No one is compelled to accept a rule. We only give admonitions from the Bible and let people decide on their own faiths. Saying young girls are not allowed is like blaming the JW for all the wrongs in the world. There are many JW who married non-JW but the Bible admonishes that we should marry within the faith. Listen, we are under the law of Christ and nothing is done under compulsion. Decide for yourself but Ephesians 5:10 keep making sure of what is acceptable to God. We are all guided by principles. That is what Christianity should be. You serve God from your own heart not under compulsion or grudge. Richdotcom:I appreciate reading your thought. Keep it coming. We have a standard set for us in the Bible and that is what we all endeavour to keep. We do not compromise to please men. Obedience to God is of utmost value to us than the glory of men. We speak the truth. 2 Likes |
