Did we tell you that Jesus is a man? We have always told you that he is a spirit creature living in heaven. He is a creation as Colossians 1:15 tells you. check it in your own Bible. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 says that there are gods in heaven but only one is the ONLY TRUE GOD John 17:3. Jesus said in John 10:27 that his sheep will hear his voice. Then in his own voice (the one that his sheep hears) he said the words in John 20:17 that his God is also our God. Are you his sheep? Do you hear his voice at John 20:17? solite3: |

You will never be satisfied with answers because you are biased. You are a hater of the JW and that changes nothing. You have been answered and yet you stay recycling your questions just to get a feel that is non-existing. You are asking someone to tell you how Jesus pronounced God's name? Are you being realistic? Do we speak that language? The scriptures were recorded as written text and not motion picture. Even in English there are many pronunciations to a single word. None of the words that you pronounce today were pronounced the same way that Jesus pronounced it because they were all written in another language that has its own rules. The name Jesus is English and in the Hebrew and Greek languages it doesn't come off as the English pronunciation. Get some education on Linguistics. Each language has rules and they guide pronunciations of word. The way centre is pronounced in English is different from the way it is pronounced in French. It would be inept to ask a French who has no knowledge of English to sound centre in English. Let me ask you a similar question that you are asking and see how well you perform. Here is a word in old persian, xšaθra. Please pronounce it the way Cyrus the great pronounced it. Here is another one, ⲡ ⲧ ϫ ⲕ. Pronounce it the way the Egyptian Pharoahs pronounced it. If you cannot, then you have no case. In every language, all you do is translate words that are in foreign languages and forge ahead. Asking the same question and recycling it is a waste of human organs and a way to feel victorious when a case is lost. Is that question your only defense? If you got a good case you should bring on evidences and not wasting people's time in a whirlpool. Emusan: |

Religion / Why Is Jesus Called God’s Son? by lovingJehovah: 11:07am On Nov 30, 2017 |
God does not have a literal wife with whom he fathered children. But he is the Creator of all life. (Revelation 4:11) Therefore, the first human that God created, Adam, is called a “son of God.” (Luke 3:38) Similarly, the Bible teaches that Jesus was created by God. So Jesus is also called a “Son of God.”—John 1:49. God created Jesus before he created Adam. Regarding Jesus, the apostle Paul wrote: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15) Jesus’ life began long before he was born in a stable in Bethlehem. In fact, the Bible says that his “origin is from early times, from the days of time indefinite.” (Micah 5:2) As God’s firstborn Son, Jesus was a spirit creature in heaven before he was born as a human on earth. Jesus himself said: “I have come down from heaven.”—John 6:38; 8:23. |

My question is still pending. Can you show me anywhere in the Bible where Jesus is referred to as "God the son" as opposed to "son of God"? I have been asking for 3 days now. You seem to have a personal issue with Jehovah's Witnesses. Who cares? You keep purporting doctrines but never answering any questions. John 17:3 Jesus himself said that Jehovah is the ONLY TRUE GOD and his father and his God. He is the only one ever referred to as the ALmighty God. John 20:17 Jesus said that Jehovah is his God and our God 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 states that there are many gods in the heaven and on earth, but to us (the first century Christians, Jesus and the Jehovah's Witnesses) there is only ONE GOD. The God, father, creator and head of Jesus, our lord. 1 Timothy 2:5 states that we have one God, Jehovah and one Lord, Jesus. This is what we believe and it is left to you to believe whatever you choose because we have made our own choice. brocab: |

Emusan:Will you ever be satisfied with any answer given? You are only here to put the JW down, ain't it? Jesus said that he made the name of the father known and he quoted the Hebrew scriptures to support that. Does that make a sense to you? Emusan: For your knowledge, the Jews cite Exodus 20:7 You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain... Who told you that it was the fear of pronouncing the name? Emusan: You do not sound reasonable, so how can I understand your point? You are a hater who picks on the JW. You do not see any good in us and you feel pumped up like you come to compete to win a Nobel Laureate. What part of the pronunciation is lost did you fail to understand? What are you pushing to get out of us? We boldly told you that the language in which the word was written is not spoken by anyone living. Language has rules and the only way to preserve information in the Bible is to translate it to the language that is understood. You are holding on to how did Jesus pronounce it when you cannot tell me how Jesus pronounced his own name in John 17:3. What branch of logic is that? We are not forcing the name on anyone. You make your choice either to accept it or decline it. Emusan:Some things are learned in elementary school. There is a difference between "to pronounce" and "to address". Having learned that, let me direct you to Matthew 4:7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written: ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’” Now, what was written? You may look up Deuteronomy 6:16 for comparison. Now, did Jesus pronounce the name? Yes! |

Emusan:That is a very uncultured comment to make Emusan:Are you talking of an English pronunciation of a word written in Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic without translating it? What in the real sense are you asking? Emusan:Unbefitting illustration. You cannot be asking how someone sounded a word in a language that no one speaks. What you do is translate and sound it in the language that you understand. Many names in the old testament were not mentioned in the New testament and yet they have English translations. How are those names sounded? Emusan:Thank you! Then sound them to me. How did Jesus sound his name in the ORIGINAL PRONUNCIATION because that one too is also a controversy if you truly follow the record. Emusan:It is imprudent asking one for the pronunciation of a word in a language that neither you nor anyone living speaks. You must translate before you pronounce. Tell me, how did Jesus sound his name? You do not know yet you are pressing for a question that you cannot answer. You accept Jesus but that is not the original pronunciation but a translated version. Here are the words, YHWH, now sound it if you have the spirit of God in you. Emusan:You keep insulting God. You have the name as it was given to the Jews in Aramaic in front of you, yet you refute it blaming God for not restoring it. How else can one restore his name? Should he come down because you refute it? No! Time is passing and no one is forcing you to accept it. It is your choice to accept or refute. Emusan: First, they are called the Jews not Hebrew people. Secondly, are you referring to the Israelites or the Israelis? Do you know the difference? The Jews are not Christians and they refute Jesus as the son of God. Did they tell you that they do not know the name of God or it is not written in their books? Did you do your research before coming online to state that their translation of the name is different from what you yourself are refuting? Did you read my previous comment? Did you check to see the dead sea scroll in the Museum in Jerusalem attached in my previous comment or did you just rush to reply? Emusan:Who is 'we' and who told you that? Emusan:Did the apostles keep the pronunciation of Jesus name and you yourself do not know it? You are going too far. Tell me how Jesus pronounced his own name? Emusan:Jesus pronounced it many times. In English it is translated Jehovah. Your mates are making efforts to learn the Aramaic and Hebrew languages to be more convinced of the Bible. Are you willing to go the length? I will recommend that to you since you refute the name translated in the language that you speak. Emusan: The name was not changed it was translated. Do you really understand what translation is? Emusan: The tetragrammaton of the original name is right in front of you, YHWH. If you know hoW Moses himself sounded it, reveal it to us. Is the spirit of God in you? Has it been revealed to you? That is the same question you asked about the JW. We have made an effort to advertise the name that we believe in, Jehovah. |
Religion / Re: Who Is Jehovah? by lovingJehovah: 6:41am On Nov 29, 2017 |
You know someone is obsessed when you see him on every thread with a negative thought to set you back in your faith. This rigmarole about how Jesus sounded the name of God is a ploy to waste time and derail fruitful conversations. They somehow believe that they are speaking the original language in which the scriptures were written. But little do they pay cognizance to the fact that English is a neo-language compared to many languages in the world. They accept all the words translated in the Bible but JEHOVAH. A very clear indication that Satan is at work. Some people go as far as accepting Jehovah-Jireh but when you separate the two words, they refute the first part of it. When you ask them how Jesus pronounced his own name, they abort the conversation because of fear that questioning the name might attract the unknown. Some people never knew that Jesus is an English name translated from another language. If we have to unearth all the names in the Bible and how they were actually pronounced, then there will be no Bible in English and also in Arabic. |

It would be nice if you could just type and stop coloring everything. Highlight is made for KEY points. I want to ask, what is your obsession with the NWT all about? Do you find the verse that you quoted missing in the NWT published by Jehovah's witnesses? If you say that Jehovah is Jesus, I will not argue with you on that. I simply want to refer you to Jesus' words in Luke 22:42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." I reckon that your knowledge of English is sound. There are 2 pronouns emboldened above. What persons are they? John 5:30 "I can do nothing on My own initiative... because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. I want you to compare these with your world awarded Bible and tell me how many persons are referred in that verse. Mark 13:32 "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. How can you explain the above to someone in your church that your God does not know the date that he will destroy the wicked. Can you tell Jesus that he is lying in John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God Have you you realized that? John 20:17 Jesus said, "...I am ascending... to my God and your God.'" As a Christian who claims to follow Jesus, Did you hear his voice in John 20:17? John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 "...There are many “gods” and many “lords” , yet for us (FIRST CENTURY CHRISTIANS AND JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES) there is but one God , the Father...and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ brocab: |

Religion / Re: Who Is Jehovah? by lovingJehovah: 10:41pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
Emusan:The shade of it all in the last line, uh huh Well, there are many names in the Bible that have also been translated to other languages and accepted. No one in the world today speaks Aramaic used in writing the first part of the Bible. The argument goes likewise for many other names including Jesus. Revelation 9:11 "They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is A·badʹdon, but in Greek he has the name A·polʹlyon." The above scriptural verse gives us a clear indication of God's acceptance of translations of names to a language that is understood and accepted. There are many names that are pronounced differently from its original language today and they are widely accepted for example the popular Paul and Peter are Pavlos-Paulo-Poli-Bul-Pablo-Paul; Cephas-Petros- Pierre- Peter. So, why not Jehovah God? The pronunciation does little as the Egyptians, the Ethiopians, the Arabians, Babylonians etc spoke their own languages and they were able to sound the name, which most likely would have come off with discrepancies in pronunciation. God is looking for intent and not our weaknesses in the sound. As long as we make an effort to call him by his actual name, he understands. Do not get stuck in this obsession like the Qumran faithfuls waiting for the Messiah in their caves when he has come and gone. For a fact, God is concerned about his name hence Exodus 3:15 "..."This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation." Emusan: Smart question! Sadly, it also pokes you in the eye as well. If you yourself would believe in YHWH, how then did Jesus sound YHWH? Well, in our translation of the Bible we restored the divine name to its original places and recently, in 2011 the King James Bible has also done the same. The Bible as you may know has endured many trials and many sinister minds have tried to change the texts in the scripture to accommodate their philosophies or pagan doctrines. I will attach a Masoretic text for you to ponder over. We do not speak the language that Jesus spoke today. How would you even be able to digest that if someone told you when you cannot accept the translated Jehovah? How do you get along with other names without asking how Jesus pronounced them? Do you have a score with the name? Have you ever question how Jesus sounded his own name? Do you care how we now arrived at all other names in the Bible? Emusan: John 17:26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them." Jesus made the name known while he was on earth. And yes, he is still making it known today. Jehovah's witnesses find delight in the name, Jehovah and we are proud to advertise it amidst opposition, ridicule and persecution. Pagans took the name out and tried to suppress it so that the truth will not shine. But, here we are talking about the name. What a victory for God. Emusan: There is another problem that you might have skipped. Yehoshua is translated as Jesus and not Jehovah. So, which first century Christians are you referring to? Emusan:Yes, the original pronunciation of the name is lost. Emusan:The biggest travesty here is believing that all other names that you pronounce are in the original language. You do not speak that language and you cannot observe the rules as to know what syllable to stress and what not to. Jesus is not the right pronunciation of Yehoshua; Cephas is not the right pronunciation of Peter; Jehoshaphat, Jerusalem, David, etc name it!. When you sound any of these words, do not think that you are speaking a first century language. That is how translation works. Olorun, Chineke, Allah, Oghene have one string attaching them together and that is translation. Nothing is lost in the meaning but the language. Think for a while that you are translating bread in the Bible in Nigerian languages. Are you going to tell a Yoruba man that the sound of bread in his language is false because it does not sound similar to that in Igbo language? A doubter would argue that these two names "A·badʹdon and A·polʹlyon" are different. Same goes for Cephas and Peter. And these are recorded in the Bible. The Masoretic text which was written during Jesus' earthly time gives us a clear revelation of the sound of the name and when translated, we arrive at Jehovah. Emusan:What do you mean by tradition of men? Do you want God to come down to pronounce it for you? This is a transliteration of the tetragrammaton YHWH which is God's name in the original language. Let me attach also a copy of the Aramaic text as it was recorded. Please, bring a change to this so-called tradition of men and help the world to pronounce it according to your supposed tradition of God. Check the attached below.

Religion / What Is Hell? Is It A Place Of Eternal Torment? by lovingJehovah: 7:31pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
Some Bible translations use the word “hell” for the Hebrew word “Sheol” and the matching Greek word “Hades,” both of which refer to the common grave of mankind. (Psalm 16:10; Acts 2:27) Many people believe in a fiery hell, as shown in the religious artwork accompanying this article. However, the Bible teaches otherwise. Those in hell are unconscious and so cannot feel pain. “There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol.”—Ecclesiastes 9:10. Good people go to hell. The faithful men Jacob and Job expected to go there.—Genesis 37:35; Job 14:13. Death, not torment in a fiery hell, is the penalty for sin. “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”—Romans 6:7. Eternal torment would violate God’s justice. (Deuteronomy 32:4) When the first man, Adam, sinned, God told him that his punishment would simply be to pass out of existence: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) God would have been lying if he were actually sending Adam to a fiery hell. God does not even contemplate eternal torment. The idea that he would punish people in hellfire is contrary to the Bible’s teaching that “God is love.”—1 John 4:8; Jeremiah 7:31. |
Religion / Who Is Jehovah? by lovingJehovah: 7:19pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
Jehovah is the true God of the Bible, the Creator of all things. (Revelation 4:11) The prophets Abraham and Moses worshipped him, as did Jesus. (Genesis 24:27; Exodus 15:1, 2; John 20:17) He is the God, not just of one people, but of “all the earth.”—Psalm 47:2. Jehovah is God’s unique name as revealed in the Bible. (Exodus 3:15; Psalm 83:18) It comes from a Hebrew verb that means “to become,” and a number of scholars suggest that the name means “He Causes to Become.” This definition well fits Jehovah’s role as the Creator and the Fulfiller of his purpose. (Isaiah 55:10, 11) The Bible also helps us to know the Person behind the name Jehovah, especially his dominant quality of love.—Exodus 34:5-7; Luke 6:35; 1 John 4:8. The name Jehovah is an English translation of the Hebrew name for God—the four letters יהוה (YHWH), known as the Tetragrammaton. The exact pronunciation of the divine name in ancient Hebrew is not known. However, the form “Jehovah” has a long history in the English language, first appearing in William Tyndale’s Bible translation of 1530. * Why is the pronunciation of God’s name in ancient Hebrew unknown? Ancient Hebrew was written without vowels, using only consonants. The Hebrew-speaking reader could easily provide the appropriate vowels. However, after the Hebrew Scriptures (“Old Testament”) were completed, some Jews adopted the superstitious belief that it was wrong to utter God’s personal name. When they read aloud a scripture that contained God’s name, they substituted expressions such as “Lord” or “God.” As centuries passed, this superstition spread and the ancient pronunciation was eventually lost. * Some feel that the divine name was pronounced “Yahweh,” while others suggest different possibilities. A Dead Sea Scroll containing a portion of Leviticus in Greek transliterates the name Iao. Early Greek writers also suggest the pronunciations Iae, I·a·beʹ, and I·a·ou·eʹ, but none of these can be proved to be the pronunciation used in ancient Hebrew. * Misconceptions about God’s name in the Bible Misconception: Translations that use “Jehovah” have added this name. Fact: The Hebrew word for God’s name in the form of the Tetragrammaton appears some 7,000 times in the Bible. * Most translations arbitrarily remove God’s name and replace it with a title such as “Lord.” Misconception: Almighty God does not need a unique name. Fact: God himself inspired Bible writers to use his name thousands of times, and he directs those who worship him to use his name. (Isaiah 42:8; Joel 2:32; Malachi 3:16; Romans 10:13) In fact, God condemned false prophets who tried to make people forget his name.—Jeremiah 23:27. Misconception: Following the tradition of the Jews, God’s name should be removed from the Bible. Fact: It is true that some Jewish scribes refused to pronounce the divine name. However, they did not remove it from their copies of the Bible. In any case, God does not want us to follow human traditions that deviate from his commandments.—Matthew 15:1-3. Misconception: The divine name should not be used in the Bible because it is not known exactly how to pronounce it in Hebrew. Fact: This line of reasoning assumes that God expects people who speak different languages to pronounce his name identically. However, the Bible indicates that God’s worshippers in the past who spoke different languages pronounced proper names differently. Consider, for example, the Israelite judge Joshua. First-century Christians who spoke Hebrew would have pronounced his name Yehoh·shuʹaʽ, while those who spoke Greek would have said I·e·sousʹ. The Bible records the Greek translation of Joshua’s Hebrew name, showing that Christians followed the sensible course of using the form of proper names common in their language.—Acts 7:45; Hebrews 4:8. The same principle can be applied to translating the divine name. Far more important than the exact pronunciation chosen is that God’s name be given its rightful place in the Bible. |
Religion / Is God Everywhere, Omnipresent? by lovingJehovah: 6:47pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
God is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses. (Proverbs 15:3; Hebrews 4:13) However, the Bible does not teach that God is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things. Instead, it shows that he is a person and that he resides in a dwelling place. God’s form: God is a spirit person. (John 4:24) He is invisible to humans. (John 1:18) Visions of God recorded in the Bible consistently portray him as having a distinct location. He is never depicted as existing everywhere.—Isaiah 6:1, 2; Revelation 4:2, 3, 8. God’s dwelling place: God resides in the spirit realm, which is distinct from physical creation. Within that realm, God has a “dwelling place in the heavens.” (1 Kings 8:30) The Bible mentions an occasion when spirit creatures “entered to take their station before Jehovah,” * showing that in a sense, God resides at a specific location.—Job 1:6. If God is not omnipresent, can he really care for me personally? Yes. God cares deeply about individuals. Although he lives in the spirit realm, God notices those on earth who truly want to please him, and he acts in their behalf. (1 Kings 8:39; 2 Chronicles 16:9) Consider how Jehovah demonstrates his concern for sincere worshippers: When you pray: Jehovah can hear your prayer the moment you say it.—2 Chronicles 18:31. When you are depressed: “Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit.”—Psalm 34:18. When you need direction: Jehovah “will give you insight and instruct you” by means of his Word, the Bible.—Psalm 32:8. Misconceptions about omnipresence Misconception: God is present everywhere in creation. Fact: God dwells neither on the earth nor elsewhere in the physical universe. (1 Kings 8:27) It is true that the stars and other creative works “are declaring the glory of God.” (Psalm 19:1) However, God does not inhabit his creation any more than an artist lives in his painting. Still, a painting can tell us something about the artist who made it. Similarly, the visible world tells us about the Creator’s “invisible qualities,” such as his power, wisdom, and love.—Romans 1:20. Misconception: God must be omnipresent in order to know all things and be all-powerful. Fact: God’s holy spirit, or active force, is God’s power in action. Through his holy spirit, God can perceive and do anything, anywhere, at any time, without being present in person.—Psalm 139:7. Misconception: Psalm 139:8 teaches that God is omnipresent by saying: “If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there, and if I were to make my bed in the Grave, look! you would be there.” Fact: This scripture is not talking about God’s location. It poetically teaches that no place is too remote for God to act in our behalf. |

Religion / When Was Jesus Born? by lovingJehovah: 12:44pm On Nov 28, 2017 |
The Bible does not give a specific date for the birth of Jesus Christ, as these reference works show: “The true birth date of Christ is unknown.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia. “The exact date of Christ’s birth is not known.”—Encyclopedia of Early Christianity. While the Bible does not directly answer the question, ‘When was Jesus born?’ it does describe two events surrounding his birth that lead many to conclude that he was not born on December 25. Not in winter The registration. Shortly before Jesus was born, Caesar Augustus issued a decree ordering “all the inhabited earth to be registered.” Everyone had to register in “his own city,” which might have required a journey of a week or more. (Luke 2:1-3 ) That order—probably made to support taxation and military conscription—would have been unpopular at any time of year, but it is unlikely that Augustus would have provoked his subjects further by forcing many of them to make long trips during the cold winter. The sheep. Shepherds were “living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks.” (Luke 2:8 ) The book Daily Life in the Time of Jesus notes that flocks lived in the open air from “the week before the Passover [late March]” through mid-November. It then adds: “They passed the winter under cover; and from this alone it may be seen that the traditional date for Christmas, in the winter, is unlikely to be right, since the Gospel says that the shepherds were in the fields.” In early fall We can estimate when Jesus was born by counting backward from his death on Passover, Nisan 14 in the spring of the year 33 C.E. (John 19:14-16) Jesus was about 30 years old when he began his three-and-a-half-year ministry, so he was born in the early fall of 2 B.C.E.—Luke 3:23. Why is Christmas on December 25? Since there is no evidence that the birth of Jesus Christ occurred on December 25, why is Christmas celebrated on this date? The Encyclopædia Britannica says that church leaders probably chose it “to coincide with the pagan Roman festival marking the ‘birthday of the unconquered sun,’” at the time of the winter solstice. According to The Encyclopedia Americana, many scholars believe that this was done “in order to make Christianity more meaningful to pagan converts.” |

brocab: Very good! What Bible translation do you use or would you recommend? brocab: In conclusion, having said all about the JW, what really is your point? That Jesus is God, yeah? brocab: Just imagine the contradiction above. You read it, yet you contradicted. Do you doubt the Bible that you read? Why did you read John 1:3 if you do not believe it? I emboldened the key word for you to ponder over. All things came through Jesus. If you are still doubting the Bible, check Colossians 1:15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Can you show me anywhere in the Bible where Jesus is referred to as "God the son" as opposed to "son of God"? brocab: Jehovah is the only one referred to as Alpha and Omega and the one seated on the throne. I am still asking if you actually read the stuff that you post online before posting them? brocab: Can you tell Jesus that he is lying in John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. The above was Jesus words. Could he be lying? Could he probably be lying when he corroborated that in John 20:17 Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" Are you trying to teach Jesus the scriptures or help him explain the word that he came to proclaim? Are you going to compel him to be your God? 1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. |

Bro, you said nothing against me, but against God. You preach love yet you are calling the Jehovah's witness a cult. Is that how you show love? I just cannot catch you on your tail because you keep slipping out the whole time. I would want your points presented in an uncomplicated manner so that we can decide the trajectory of our conversation. If this forum is about learning, why have you not been able to answer any of my questions so far? brocab: |
Religion / Does Bible Prophecy Point To The Modern State Of Israel? by lovingJehovah: 4:37am On Nov 28, 2017 |
TODAY the world nervously watches the Middle East. Rocket attacks, clashes of armed militias, and terrorist bombings are frequent occurrences. Add to this explosive mixture the very real possibility that nuclear weapons could be used. No wonder people everywhere are worried! The world was also anxiously watching the Middle East in May of 1948. At that time, 62 years ago, the British mandate to occupy what was then called Palestine was ending, and war was imminent. The year before, the United Nations had authorized the creation of an independent Jewish State in a portion of the occupied territories. The surrounding Arab nations had vowed to prevent this at any cost. “The partition line shall be nothing but a line of fire and blood,” warned the Arab League. It was Friday afternoon, May 14, 1948, at 4:00 p.m. The final hours of the British mandate were ticking away. In the Tel Aviv Museum, a small crowd of 350 onlookers were present by secret invitation for an eagerly anticipated announcement—the formal declaration of statehood for the modern-day nation of Israel. Security was tight, lest the numerous enemies of the fledgling State attack the proceedings. David Ben-Gurion, May 14, 1948 David Ben-Gurion, the leader of Israel’s National Council, read The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel. It stated, in part: “We, members of the People’s Council, representatives of the Jewish Community of Eretz-Israel . . . by virtue of our natural and historic right and on the strength of the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish State in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.” A Fulfillment of Bible Prophecy? Some Evangelical Protestants believe that the modern State of Israel thus fulfilled a Bible prophecy. For example, in the book Jerusalem Countdown, clergyman John Hagee states: “This momentous occasion had been recorded by the pen of the prophet Isaiah, saying, ‘A nation shall be born in a day.’ (See Isaiah 66:8.) . . . It was the greatest moment in prophetic history of the twentieth century. It was living evidence for all men to see that the God of Israel was alive and well.” Is that statement true? Did Isaiah 66:8 predict the establishment of the modern State of Israel? Was May 14, 1948, the “greatest moment in prophetic history of the twentieth century”? If the modern State of Israel is still God’s chosen nation, and if he is using it to fulfill Bible prophecies, this would certainly be of interest to Bible students everywhere. Isaiah’s prophecy states: “Who has heard of a thing like this? Who has seen things like these? Will a land be brought forth with labor pains in one day? Or will a nation be born at one time? For Zion has come into labor pains as well as given birth to her sons.” (Isaiah 66: The verse is clearly foretelling the sudden birth of an entire nation, as if in a single day. But who would cause this birth? The next verse gives a clue: “‘As for me, shall I cause the breaking through and not cause the giving birth?’ says Jehovah. ‘Or am I causing a giving birth and do I actually cause a shutting up?’ your God has said.” Jehovah God makes it clear that the dramatic birth of the nation would be his doing. Modern Israel is governed as a secular democracy that officially makes no claim to rely on the God of the Bible. Did the Israelis in 1948 recognize Jehovah God as the one responsible for their declaration of statehood? They did not. Neither the name of God nor even the word “God” was mentioned anywhere in the original text of the proclamation. The book Great Moments in Jewish History says this of the final text: “Even at 1:00 P.M. when the National Council met, its members could not agree about the wording of the proclamation of statehood. . . . Observant Jews wanted a reference to ‘the God of Israel.’ Secularists balked. Compromising, Ben-Gurion decided that the word ‘Rock’ would appear instead of ‘God.’” The modern State of Israel to this day bases its claim to statehood on a UN resolution and what it calls the natural and historic right of the Jewish people. Is it reasonable to expect that the God of the Bible would perform the greatest prophetic miracle in the 20th century in behalf of a people who refuse to give him credit? How Does the Modern Claim to Statehood Compare? Modern Israel’s secular attitude contrasts sharply with the situation in 537 B.C.E. Back then, the nation of Israel was indeed ‘reborn’ as if in a day after being devastated and depopulated by the Babylonians 70 years earlier. At that time, Isaiah 66:8 was strikingly fulfilled when the Persian conqueror of Babylon, Cyrus the Great, authorized the return of the Jews to their homeland.—Ezra 1:2. The Persian King Cyrus recognized Jehovah’s hand in the matter in 537 B.C.E., and those who returned to Jerusalem did so for the express purpose of restoring the worship of Jehovah God and rebuilding his temple. The modern State of Israel has never officially declared any such desire or intention. Still God’s Chosen Nation? In the year 33 C.E., the fleshly nation of Israel lost its claim to be God’s chosen nation when it rejected Jehovah’s Son, the Messiah. The Messiah himself put it this way: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent forth to her . . . Look! Your house is abandoned to you.” (Matthew 23:37, 38) Jesus’ statement came true when in 70 C.E., Roman legions destroyed Jerusalem along with its temple and priesthood. But what was to become of God’s purpose to have a “special property out of all other peoples, . . . a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”?—Exodus 19:5, 6. The apostle Peter, himself a fleshly Jew, answered that question in a letter written to Christians—both Gentile and Jewish. He wrote: “You are ‘a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession,’ . . . for you were once not a people, but are now God’s people; you were those who had not been shown mercy, but are now those who have been shown mercy.”—1 Peter 2:7-10. Christians who were selected by holy spirit thus belong to a spiritual nation, their membership not being determined by birth or geographic location. The apostle Paul described the matter this way: “Neither is circumcision anything nor is uncircumcision, but a new creation is something. And all those who will walk orderly by this rule of conduct, upon them be peace and mercy, even upon the Israel of God.”—Galatians 6:15, 16. Whereas the modern nation of Israel offers to confer citizenship upon any natural or converted Jew, citizenship in what the Bible calls “the Israel of God” is given only to those who are “obedient and sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:1, 2) Speaking of these members of the Israel of God, or spiritual Jews, Paul wrote: “He is not a Jew who is one on the outside, nor is circumcision that which is on the outside upon the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and his circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by a written code. The praise of that one comes, not from men, but from God.”—Romans 2:28, 29. That verse helps us understand a controversial comment Paul made. In his letter to the Romans, Paul explained how the unbelieving natural Jews were like branches of a symbolic olive tree that were lopped off so that “wild” Gentile “branches” could be grafted in. (Romans 11:17-21) Concluding this illustration, he states: “A dulling of sensibilities has happened in part to Israel until the full number of people of the nations has come in, and in this manner all Israel will be saved.” (Romans 11:25, 26) Was Paul foretelling an eleventh hour mass conversion of the Jews to Christianity? Clearly, no such conversion has taken place. What did Paul’s illustration of the olive tree mean? By the expression “all Israel,” Paul meant all of spiritual Israel—Christians who have been selected by holy spirit. He was saying that the failure of the natural Jews to accept the Messiah would not thwart God’s purpose to have a spiritual ‘olive tree’ full of productive branches. This is in harmony with Jesus’ own illustration of himself as a vine whose nonproductive branches will be lopped off. Jesus said: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the cultivator. Every branch in me not bearing fruit he takes away, and every one bearing fruit he cleans, that it may bear more fruit.”—John 15:1, 2. Although the establishment of the modern State of Israel was not foretold in the Bible, the establishment of the nation of spiritual Israel certainly was! If you identify and associate with that spiritual nation today, you will reap eternal blessings.—Genesis 22:15-18; Galatians 3:8, 9. |

brocab: You must make a sense and present your point accordingly for someone to agree with you. So far, you have not presented anything worthy of understanding. How can I agree with a heretic purport that has no actual link to the message in the Bible? brocab: You should be able to make a lucid statement and not contradicting yourself. This is a public forum and you can be called out to answer what you put out here. You are just quoting the whole scriptures; some are not related to the point that you try to make and you are not making an effort to explain your points. You are equivocating and that is the point. I have to cut out some extras below to be able to follow up. brocab: Ludicrous! Bro, you are a receptacle of insinuation. Are you sure that you read before posting stuff online? How could you say that the election of Matthias is not ordained by God? So, if they had elected Paul, it would have been ordained by God, yeah? Shallow but insidious thought. Your thought is toxic. No Christian should pay heed to such thought. We were warned against your type in Colossians 2:8 Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. brocab: What offshoot of Christianity do you represent? I do not think other Christians on Nairaland will agree with you. You are indeed a dangerous weed that Jesus referred to in his illustration. No one should take you seriously. You keep entangling your own self with piles of heresy. In your earliest comment above you said I shouldn't stand high and mighty but descend to this gruesome stench of dog mess? Bro, grab a Bible and get someone to help you understand it. Pray for God's holy spirit to guide you. brocab: Do you have a beef with Matthias? Seriously, can you read what you typed above? Are you a Christian? You called the Jehovah's witnesses false, but judge your standing above by yourself. Bro, honestly I am surprised at you. Your knowledge of the Bible is a missile of 'new-clear' paganism. Get some help! |

What race are you talking about? Are you saying that you love God and your neigbours as yourself? Can you refer to yourself as a cultist as you call the Jehovah's witnesses? Regarding Luke 6:31, would you accept the same insults that you dish out to the JW? It is difficult to read and understand your write-up and JW are trained to elucidate with poise. Out of love, we go from door to door teaching sincere-hearted ones. Only love could motivate millions to close their businesses, retire from active work or choose a low-paying career for the sake of spending more time discussing the Bible with people. It is our job to tell about Jehovah and his kingdom because Jesus gave us that command in Matthew 24:14. Are you doing that? Take away the internet, have you ever visited a stranger to preach to him? Jehovah's witnesses go as far as the jungle in the amazon to teach the word of God. What sacrifice have you really done to prove your love apart from judging the JW on Nairaland? brocab: |

They are apostates. The do not want to be JW yet they cannot blend into any faith. They just want to tear the JW down. We welcome it. It has been this way over a century. Once they see any thread with a reference to Jehovah's Witnesses they rush in to slander. Many of them have never had any close dealing with the JW yet they post lies just to blaspheme and put us down. When you ask for reasons for their comments you will be so surprised how void they sound. Regarding the Nazi, You cannot sell another man's shoes when he is wearing it. There are over 6.8 million Jews in the world and thousands of books have been published by Jews about the Holocaust. Everyone is telling his own side of the story. The concentration camps were different. How many Jehovah's Witnesses were in the world at the time to compare us to the Jews. No one ever told the Jews that they were not the only ones killed. If you do not tell your story, it will be buried. All these twisting and comparison is to douse the intensity of suffering and death suffered by the Jehovah's witnesses. We know! Peacefullove: |
