Yampotatocarrot: Why I agree that the militants have a point for their aggressiveness, they went about it the wrong way. Did they allow for dialogue before they started blowing up the pipelines? They started blowing up, then brought up their demands.... To me it ain't right. Now that theyve started blowing up, can they stop blowing up the pipelines for some months while asking the Fed.government to help them clean the environment within these period, then they take their bombs to the houses of APC chieftains, and that Niger Delta minister guy, the Pastor, I think, Amaechi's house and any other person in the government that is in the position to take their plight to Buhari. So is FG going to be negotiating with every aggrieved person in the Niger Delta because they have arms?
That is unsustainable in my opinion.Lalasticlala u dey so? |

mynaija123: Buhari should look for a means to cushion the effect of this economic hardship although not his fault.
Nigerains should look critically and see dat we are nothing without oil and look for other ways to be productive. The question is where do we get the money to diversify the economy from? |
Politics › Crude Oil Hits $50 Per Barrel. Nigeria not Benefitting by LRNZH(op): 3:38am On May 26, 2016 |
For the first time in 2016, Brent crude blend has hit the $50 mark in trading. Other global crude blends are not far off from this landmark price which eases a lot of pressure from the finances of oil exporting countries.
Unfortunately, Nigeria which is bedevilled by the ongoing renewed militancy in the Niger Delta spearheaded by the Ijaw dominated Niger-Delta Avengers cannot benefit from this as the country's oil production level has dropped to a 20 year low.
It is argued in certain quarters that the current surge in global oil prices is due to the reduced output from Nigeria. In which case, we have become a buffer for the rest of the oil producing nations at our own detriment.
This is not a good time to be a Nigerian. There is no sense in the afflictions we have brought on ourselves with this development.

https://d1phczbdxyh8yo.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/29064815/Ayodele-Fayose1.jpgA group within the Peoples Democratic Party, Concerned PDP Stakeholders, has asked Governor Ayodele Fayose to stop condemning President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies.
The group, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its patron, Prof. T Akinyemi , said that by repeatedly condemning President Buhari, Fayose was indirectly mocking himself because the President had good intentions for the country.
The group, however, said it supported Fayose’s advice that old men within the PDP should take the backstage in the party’s affairs.
The statement read, “We would like Fayose to stop ridiculing himself in his efforts to attack Buhari. Buhari has good intentions and he is a man we all respect, irrespective of his political affiliation. Moreover, the office of the President deserves the respect of all Nigerians. God is the one who puts people in power. We condemn Fayose’s unguided, repeated attacks on Buhari. It is better to keep shut if you have nothing to say.”
The group also asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, over alleged diversion of government funds for campaign purpose.
While calling for the scrapping of the present Board of Trustees of the PDP, the group said only Senator Bode Olajumoke was credible enough to lead the party in the South-West. http://www.punchng.com/stop-attacking-buhari-pdp-group-tells-fayose/ |

The preparation not done during high oil prices will reflect in low oil price period.
The IOCs are owed plenty money from the active productive period during high oil prices. Diezani's NNPC refused to pay them. Today the FG is broke and can't even pay those debts. How do you convince the IOCs to pour more money into exploration or new field development? PIB, we cannot pass through the legislature for over 5 years.

DesChyko,
I am happy you are alive to witness all the revelations of the callous mismanagement of the past administration.
Most of the problems in Nigeria today are from the fallout of the stolen funds from the >$100/barrel oil windfall that GEJ's government enjoyed for almost 4 years. GEJ is the luckiest president Nigeria ever had but he squandered all the goodluck. If GEJ was still president as we speak, it is most likely that IMF would have been giving us orders on when to eat dinner and how many square meals a day because the country would have been so broke.
If you understand some basic economics and how commodity driven economies behave when prices crash, you won't even start on this topic. There are many threads on Nairaland if you want to objectively educate yourself. I have written some of them. GEJ did nothing to protect Nigeria from the day that oil prices will fall flat.
So long story cut short is that in the 2015 elections, Buhari was always the best choice amongst what those available to chose from. I have never doubted that. I stand by that assertion anywhere. If GEJ is better, let him contest the 2019 elections let us see where he will end up with all the revelations surrounding FFK, Dasuki, Diezani, Bank MDs, Metuh, Okupe, Tompolo, Akpobolokemi, etc.
I leave you in peace and hope that you gain more wisdom to see where true progressives are coming from. This will be my only response to you on this matter unless I perceive a genuine interest to seek enlightenment on your part. |

TheSonOfMark: That it is called the "NIGER-DELTA AVENGERS" and not the "IJAW AVENGERS" is evidence enough - its membership is open to all ETHNC GROUPS within the Niger-Delta.
Now, pseudo-logician, provide evidence to lay credence to your claim of NDA members being only Ijaws.
This is me being nice enough to let you appeal your case. Your reputation is on the line.
Don't keep us waiting. ,
If I am worried about my reputation, I would not post a single statement in a public forum. I leave that for kids like you to worry about.
You couldn't answer my question. So If I call myself "the Russian Overlord", does that make me a Russian? So because it is Niger Delta Avengers, it means it is composed of all ethnic groups in the Niger Delta?
That is why I was lenient by stating that you didn't read the OP because you have been out of context for so long. If you understood the OP, a list of previous militant groups and noted leaders showed Ijaw origins. Even the name of the Avengers spokesperson is Ijaw. They have been daring Tompolo, himself an Ijaw man. The destructions of oil facilities by this group has been in Ijaw-land.
I understand if deductive intelligence is not in your toolbox. Run along because I have spent enough capital in trying to enlighten you. |

TheSonOfMark: My point is; since the NDA is responsible for the RECENT oil vandalism and the NDA members are made up of members from different ethnic groups with the South-South, then your logic of the Ijaws being responsible for the destruction is flawed and a not-so-subtle smear campaign against them.
See? You're the one who has comprehension problem afterall.
You're welcome. The fact that you responded to a sarcastic question meant to communicate to you that you have no point is a pointer.
Anyway, in the magnanimity of allowing you lay claim to some sense, show us an evidence of the composition of the "Avengers". |

You specifically blamed the NDA attacks on the Ijaws. Maybe you should edit your title and the write-up. Actually, you should.

TheSonOfMark: I am Ibibio but the oil-producing communities in Akwaibom State aren't only located in Ibibioland. Some are Oron, Ibeno and Obolo.
My point: The three states you highlighted aren't only peopled by the Ijaws. Niger-Delta Avengers is a pot pouri of several ethnic groups so why single out the Ijaws to launch scathing attacks at?
This is a not-so-subtle anti-Ijaw campaign. An attempt to portray the Ijaws as wholly vandals.
I don't think you read the OP otherwise it will be termed a comprehension problem.
I use Ibibio as a generic term for the people of Akwa-ibom and Cross-Rivers. If you read the OP i wrote about states oil producing that have Ijaws in them not necessarily only Ijaw that live in them.
This is a comparison between Ijaw's militant approach and the civil approach of the Ibibio-related tribes for example in agitating for their perceived rights. |

Standing5: Stop spewing half wisdom OP . . . The Ijaws feel trapped by the government structure force down everybodys throat by the FG. The FG being controlled by greedy parasites has decided to embrace a sharing formula that takes money/resource from the productive states n give parasitic states and the FG. This has promoted corruption from Federal level down to local govt level and in turn improverish people in the local government areas where oil is being explored. If only 50% of resources running Nigeria came from the North n West n East, then it would av help avoid this pattern of corruption whereby the local govts are neglected. To put it simply, you are funny. If the Ijaws cannot utilise the 13% oil derivation funds that go to the states where they reside, the monies that oil companies pay to their states and communities as tax and benefits to develop their region due to corruption, how can they now rid themselves of corruption if they take over all the resources in Nigeria? |

oduastates: Why you carry another person matter put for head? As long as every maintain their lane and keep their rubbish to their side, am down with it. There are no benefits to this diabolical union. The question we should be asking
What are yoruba leaders doing to "de-integrate" the land from the messy union . Starting from power( eliminate the need for gas) and going forth to building a petroleum product ( petrol, diesel etc value chain with raw crude procured from Angola, Ghana and home. The upside for an independent yoruba country is great. I disagree with you but it is a matter of opinion.
The potential of the collective Nigeria today is greater than any of its individual nation units. There are very few other countries in Africa that have the full combination of our climate, arable land mass, population ,natural resources and shoreline. The potential is immense.

Decibel: Lies, poorly written conjectures, if the weapons were procured as you claimed, it would have been all over the media with Lai Mohammed and his lying crew claiming that it was because of Buhari's body language that made it so. Finally, remember facts are SACRED!! Like I stated, my contacts in the military are the sources of my advanced knowledge. But you saw evidence that arms were being expected earlier in 2016. It is up to you to believe it or not. It doesn't change what I know. But you can attest to the positive impact in the war theatre. Shalom my brother. |

Decibel: @LRNZH The below quote is from one of the sources you posted which didn't validate your ascersion that some weapons were procured. Please desist from peddling falsehood, distorting facts and misinforming the public. Thank you.
Nigeria and Pakistan enjoy good defence relations, with Pakistan training Nigerian officers. Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Malam Dauda Danladi, recently said that 120 officers attended various courses in Pakistan, with 40 currently undergoing training this year.
The JF-17 is jointly produced by the Chengdu Aircraft Industries Corporation (CAC) of China and the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC). The Pakistan Air Force has 50 in service and has been flying the type since 2007, although only officially inducting the aircraft in 2010. Pakistan may acquire up to 200. I am sharing with you what is in the public domain as at January 2016. That was when they were expecting the weapons. Some have been delivered and that info is not in the public domain. I can confirm that to you from my military sources. All you see is their impact in the ongoing war in the NE.
Ask yourself this: If all these weapon were procured by GEJ, how come soldiers were absconding from the war front like a pack of cards under his tenure? |

BiafranAmerican: I am not a Biafran supporter I am a Biafran agitator. If Niger Delta Republic is the panacea of these parasitic union so be it. At the moment we have a Nigeria to salvage so be objective about the ijaw equation. Show more concern about foolank taking lives than NDA blowing up common pipelines Agitator or supporter? They mean the same thing to me.
I do not expect you to believe this: Splintering Nigeria along sectarian lines will not solve the issues of her people. Otherwise, countries like South-Sudan and Eritrea would have become the shining beacons of why secession in Africa is the solution to her problems. In fact, South-Sudan and Eritrea are worse off than Sudan and Ethiopia, countries that they broke-away from.
State governors and local government chairmen of the South-South and South-East regions are as corrupt as those from any other part of Nigeria. Look at the state allocations shown in the OP, yet people in these states suffer daily.
Seceding is like running away from your problem. It won't leave unless you face it head on which is working towards a better Nigeria as a collective. |
