#NeverAgain shall a clueless retardeen be Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria.

GEJ and his cohorts set Nigeria back by at least a decade and some some years by sheer incompetence.
And that he still has people as supporters is just incomprehensible. They just have to be bigots.

Lalasticlala, come and do justice.

The number of deaths are dropping significantly. While we do not want a single death of an innocent person due to terrorist activities, why is the drop not a commendable piece of statistics? It is a sign of better times to come under PMB.

BH will be wiped out by December.

Boko Haram related terror deaths are on a downward plunge. The United States coordinated terror-death tracker, the Nigeria Security Tracker (NST) has been recording terror-related deaths since the inception of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the PDP party in Nigeria came into office as president in May of 2010. His reign which lasted till May of 2015 was marked with 40,000 terror related newspaper reported deaths, mostly from Boko Haram terror and military counter terror actions and also from increased sectarian terror events.

Nigeria Security Tracker (NST), a project of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Africa program is the only public viewable project that monitors deaths reported in Nigerian dailies.

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/nst2.png

It is important to note that the deaths are grossly under reported even in the NST, this is because the NST only counts deaths reported in Nigerian dailies which are very incomplete and through the reign of Boko Haram terror were unable to penetrate thousands of acres of Nigerian territory under command of Boko Haram.

Estimates put the true figure of Boko Haram terror deaths at hundreds of thousands to over a million. Several mass graves have been discovered in recaptured territories. Boko Haram was on a well financed mission to claim the resource-rich land of the northeast without its people.

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/ihejirika-boko.jpg

The Jonathan government was largely accused of shielding Boko Haram sponsors who he said he knew but refused to publicize. He is also recognized of supervising the plundering of over 20 billion dollars budgeted to equip the Nigerian army to secure Nigeria.

The former administration also came under angry condemnation for wrecking the Nigerian army and supervising the systematic transfer of Nigerian military weapons, vehicles, armored carriers and funds to Boko Haram.

Several failed and sham cease-fire deals saw the deliberate payment of millions of dollars directly to Boko Haram terrorists;
military gear and state funds that were used to build rag-tag terrorists into the most deadly terrorist group in the world today according to global records.

Boko Haram has in addition to the over 40,000 deaths, in its pogrom targeting farmers in the nation’s resource-rich northeast, managed the displacement of over 3 million Nigerians, the second highest displacement in the world today with 1.4 million children reported displaced according to latest records.

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/buhari-osinbajo1.jpg

New strategies including first and most importantly coordinating with Nigeria’s oft suspected neighbors and addressing their grievances to force them to stop allowing their States to be safe havens and retreat cum maneuver escape zones for terrorists under pressure, as well as the seeking of global cooperation and properly repositioning the army by the new Buhari/Osinbajo government has brought radical change to the fate of the Nigerian war against terror.

With the relocation of the military headquarters to the affected northeast and new morale build up in the army with an army chief who actively participates in military actions, Nigeria has decidedly blocked Boko Haram supply routes, captured major terror suppliers and facilitators and forced the terrorists into a position of disorganization, hunger, immobility via lack of fuel supplies and lack of weaponry, leading to massive surrender and foreseeable defeat of the seemingly intractable terror agency.

Trade routes are being re-established, schools are reopening and life is slowly returning to the years-ravaged northeast.

What is largely left in the successful war, that Nigerians ask for, is for the Buhari government to unveil the sponsors of Boko Haram and bring them to book.

Nigerians are confident that as fast as democratic systems permit, the new energized Department of State Security, DSS and larger National security department will soon finally let the world know who has been behind Boko Haram and why.

After six hopeless years, there seems to finally be hope for a nation desperate for peace, security and the semblance of order.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Was Right To Stand Up To JP Morgan by LRNZH(m):
4Play:
Re your first question, assuming no government intervention, exchange rates are a product of demand and supply. The Naira is facing pressure because there is less forex coming in due to the fall in oil prices. The CBN's actions ensure that even less forex will come in and, therefore, makes matters worse. When the supply of anything is low, if demand does not adjust immediately, that thing becomes more expensive. By becoming more expensive, demand is forced to adjust. If the government intervenes to ensure that the scarce thing is obtainable at a fixed price, demand would not adjust easily. Of course, there are no free lunches in economics so the government can only fix price at great costs to it and, usually, with the by-product that a booming black market is created. Hence, the divergence between the official Naira rate and the parallel Naira rate, the latter is the black market and will grow bigger the longer the government maintains its attempt to fix a price.

Regarding your second and third questions, I don't know the percentages. I do believe that in an optimal economic environment, we should not import much of those items. However, the CBN's actions make it cheaper to import goods and therefore ensures that we continue to import things we ought not to import. I know the CBN disclosed a list of items it would no longer provide the forex for importers to import. However, such a ham-fisted way of curbing demand creates a lucrative market in contraband goods, excellent if you are transporter in Cotonou for instance. The best way to curb demand is through the price mechanism not by government fiat.

As for your links, I will try and read these later.

As far remaining apolitical is concerned, I have to say that I have been a user of Nairaland for 9 years and its remarkable how it's evolved from a forum where people genuinely demanded better governance to one where partisan posters spend all day making tendentious arguments. My view now is my view for the last 9 years - Nigeria is plagued by a political system that almost guarantees inept political leaders. Buhari will prove to be a bad leader just as GEJ, Yar'Adua, OBJ, et al. Those who can't see this are either being paid to be obtuse or are so desperate to believe that salvation is afoot that they have been rendered utterly delusional.
I read your initial comment on this thread and your retort to 989900. I am a PMB/APC supporter but I admire your level-headed assertions. I see a lot of good economic reason in what you have stated so far. I am just a bit alarmed that you see no opportunity for a turnaround of Nigeria's fortune with PMB (aka accountability, anti-corruption, reduced gov't wastage, increased self reliance) holding fort.

Pray, do enlighten me on the reason(s) for your pessimism.

This is sad and utterly reprehensible. These attacks must stop, it is important to note that the so called fulani herdsmen are mostly armed robbers and cattle rustlers that attack and rob for their evil gain. Several arrests have been made, including a recent one where two terrorists hid within a fulani herdsmans flock and family and forced him along as they perpetrated their crimes.

Several similar attacks and arrests were also reported in the villages and forests of Kebbi and Zamfara States. The 'reprisal' attacks on Fulani settlements must also be stopped.

It is neccesary that we ascertain their identities because you cannot fight him that you do not know.

PMB has started well. But he needs more advise and prayers to do better because there's room for improvement, and there are evil people like Shekau, Nnamdi Kanu, Abdulsalam and Kukah who want to protect more evil people.

Let PMB take his time to understand Nigeria's issue deeply.

I proudly voted for PMB and APC and I have no regrets so far. After PMB names his cabinets, the true direction of his government will become clear.

What's is amazing is that nobody to date has listed any policies of GEJ that is illegal or unconstitutional. You might not like the policies of a President becuase it offends your morality but that does not make it illegal.
Illegal policies or acts are what impeachment was designed for.
Contracting out the security of Nigeria's waters to Tompolo through his shell company while the Navy is underfunded is outrightly illegal.

Contracting South African mercenaries, paying Chad soldiers to fight BH while Nigerian soldiers were deprived of arms and allowances is unconstitutional.

Stopping Nigerian refineries from functioning while swapping crude for refined products at a massive loss is illegal.

Those so called herdsmen are pure criminals, they have been apprehended severally in Kebbi and Zamfara states for armed robbery. Even the cattle they masquerade with are stolen from nomadic Fulani's.

The sooner the identities of these 'fulani herdsmen' imposters are established, the sooner we can eliminate their blood-sucking activities. You cannot find what you don't know you're looking for.

Back to topic.
Their identities better be revealed sooner than later. Otherwise, I see a landmine of political opposition amongst the North Central people and minority tribes in the North to APC in 2019.

People are being killed continously by these 'Fulani herdsmen' to the point where a state of emergency should be declared. It is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
