fr3do:You have a point but its not a strong one until power is decentralised. The current Federal system in Nigeria allocates over 50% of national revenue to the FG. States have to scramble to get their allocation. Before LGAs get theirs, the monies are usually pilfered. The central govt is most responsible, then states before LGAs and wards. After a lot of investigations and counter allegations, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister of Finance and the Coordination Minister of the Economy announced that PricewaterhouseCooper (PwC) has been commissioned to carry out a forensic audit of NNPC's account since 2008. Firefire:This exposes GEJ's cluelessness further. He promised while campaigning in Maiduguri to stop Boko Haram in two.weeks. It is obvious no Intel analysis went into that promise. How can what we are seeing be stopped in two weeks? The party, according to the leader of the PDP Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the presidential campaign council in the state, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, has already formally petitioned the security agencies including the police, the State Security Service (SSS), the army, the navy and the state governor, among others over the matter. Emeakayi, who is one of the leaders of the party in the state, noted that they chose the part of honour, discipline and peace by severally restraining its members who have been rearing to react and go on the offensive, because the PDP is a disciplined party with cherished codes and ethics. He said the party has given the state government the benefit of the doubt to call its officials to order to avoid a situation where it would lead to an open conflict. Emeakayi added that they were aware that antagonistic moves were to cause disaffection and anger among other candidates for a fight to break out. The PDP chieftain cautioned all political actors in the state to endeavour to play by the rules, eschew thuggery and use of foul language against each other, noting that politics remain an honourable game of wits, words and number, where only those with attestable character and superior points of argument prevail. He said: “We have received several complaints from most of our candidates that members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) and All Progressives Congress(APC) have been destroying, defacing and vandalising PDP billboards, posters and handbills and other campaign materials in parts of the state...” He wondered the state of mind of those who decide not to go on campaign tours to the electorate but devote time to plan on how to attack the popular PDP candidates, especially Mr. President. He therefore urged the governor and other party leaders to step into the matter immediately and restore sanity thereto. On the new bye-law by the state House of Assembly on campaigns by those they saw as not among the candidates whose names were published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who have pending cases in courts on their nomination, Emeakayi described the law as a waste of effort by those behind it. He said the move was a clear mockery of what a legislator should be doing because the matter was ultra vires the powers of a state assembly, since laws guiding elections in Nigeria were federal laws. Hence the state assemblies have no powers to legislate over same. That this shows that the state Assembly acts arbitrarily without sound research and legal counsel. Again, he said that there was no where in the Electoral Act where it was written that anyone whose name was not published by INEC should not campaign for the election if he has an issue pending. He said that after all the PDP has forwarded names of her candidates who were well known. LRNZH: hardbody:Point 4 is a different scenario from 1 to 3, and is referring to Niger Delta Militants. Since GEJ controls the Army through Minimah etc., those aerial attack equipments can easily be stationed in the SS military cantonments. In the event of a ND uprising due to a GEJ loss, they become the arsenal of a secessionist or rebel army against a Nigerian state under GMB. For those wondering why the US is behaving this way it is easy to decipher. 1. Those Chinook helicopters and other sophisticated weaponry will likely end up in Boko Haram hands. Nigeria has been dashing those terrorists arms since the insurgency started . 2. The Nigeria Army has leveled villages before irrespective of whether they're terrorists or civilians. Infact, during the Bama attacks, Nigeria fighter pilots attacked Nigeria ground troops. 3. GEJ is corrupt and has no will to destroy the insurgency, so no need to waste Nigeria's funds on weapons that will not be properly put to use. 4. GEJ and his supporting militants have been stockpiling arms for the eventuality of a GEJ electoral loss. Militants getting Chinook helicopters will be a disaster to the Niger Delta.
