hannie:

I saw Gatwick first in 1980 . . u dumbo!  tongue  grin
talk is cheap,i am accusing you of being a bloody liar, prove me wrong by posting any evidence of you ever being in the uk, you r not just a liar but your suffering from a chronic case of liabetic and need some insulie to keep you going you know what they say about using a bigger lie to cover up
hannie:

your papa don see even local airport then? bloody asswipe!  grin
funny enough you are right,he hates travelling and the only local airport he has been is the one at ikeja and abuja the rest is international if you push me i will simply refer to past interviews he has given reporters in the sun newspapers and tribune for you to go read his interview baboon.
the difference between me and you is the home training, if you notice i have not said a single negative word of insult towards your parents its just cause of the way i was brought up unlike you
hannie:

I aint even on your level, u freaking nitwit . . .u got nothing on me . . .I make Soaps and other household cleaning stuff . . .I make freaking money and that in my Naija, not anywhere where ediots like u cant claim nada . . .U ARE A BLOODY SLAVE WHEREVER THE bleep U ARE!!!
did i touch a raw nerve?loooooooooooool I'm sure you do make money, even okada riders make money as well good for you freakazoid
hannie:

What I have here in Ikorodu, u can only dream of even after you come back home empty-handed yarning ''THERE IS NO WHERE LIKE HOME'' . . .
loool i can only dream of setting up a soap making factory in ikorodu? LMAOOOO OK,I HEAR YOU!
hannie:

To u  . . .u arean achiever because u wash toilets and combine it washing dead bodies . . .freaking hell!!! Get a life u asstard! U are talking to a bleeping celebrity . . .u only read about people like me in the dailies/gossip blogs but on the www . . .adodis and adofuros are free to yap about ''CHECKING OUT'' . . .Even Andrew sef don run come back home . . .
another reason to show you have never crossed the international airport talk less of travelling to the uk.anyone who frequents or has been to the uk before will know that this is a myth.go and conduct your research washing dead bodies is not a job they give just anybody here, you are required to have specific licenses and you have to be attached to the medical profession you will be vetted on different levels besides jobs like that are usually given to white people not black or pakistani or any other race.
why would i finish a first and second degree in different uk universities and then go back to washing toilets?even you that did not pass through a single higher institution are not washing toilets lool.
if i return back to nigeria without a single penny by virtue of my familial background i have a ready job waiting for me, we are totally different in background besides its too late because i have achieved educationally, financially on my uk sojourn so sorry dude loool
keep an eye out,i am moving back home end of next year or beginning of 2013 when i will launch my photo studio biz i will send the link of the adverts on several blogs, mags and tv to you

This was Re-loaded's response to you on your awkward background:  tongue

First off, I really hope you are in school, before it's too late Embarrassed. How old are you? You should know bout X and Y chromosomes.

Secondly if you are going to brag about your dad being "highly educated", you should know a truly educated person wouldnt go around spreading his seeds in hopes for a male child when anyone that actually has been to school SHOULD know that the chromosome required for a male kid lies in the man.

get it now?

see what I mean?
the quotes above is another evidence that you did not pass through the four walls of a higher institution.
let me give you a friendly advice as it might be useful for you in your mushroom one man business, when reading an article or anything always endeavour to understand the background, and everything surrounding it before hastily using it to fulfil your own ends.

the thread was about people who want male children, and just like many people in his generation who grew up in the 1950s to 1960/70s i related his experience of wanting a male child which led him into a polygamous situation.which deluded picked up on and was casting aspersions on him.
apart from you being an illiterate, you have shown that you were probably taught some home training but you have refused to heed your parent's teaching and instead have sought to disgrace them in public.anyone who holds their own parents or elders in high esteem will never cast aspersions on other people's parents hence i will agree that you and deluded are similar in this manner.
what i like and appreciate about my father and my family is that they are honest enough and open enough to admit mistakes wherever they have made it for us to learn from and i have posted it on here for other people whip might be contemplating something similar to learn from.
in all the years i have posted that comment with the thousands who have read it,i am sure they would have learnt from that and retraced their steps in the search for a male child.

now i will like to ask you where and what exactly is your point again? grin
good home training and a good family name can never be bought with silver nor gold,
hannie:

U ARE A bleeping EDIOT OF ABSOLUTELY QUESTIONABLE ORIGIN!!!  grin
looool don't worry about that i know my origin and i am extremely proud of my origin.including all the opportunities i have been open to as a result of this hence i would never change it even if i had a choice in fact the meal i just had and the wine i am sipping now while replying your drivel was courtesy of a nice egunje i obtained from my dear father on his recent trip to the uk who wouldn't want such a dad?
grin
Romance / Re: Why Are Home Based Nigerians Usually Ugly? by lucabrasi(m): 4:23pm On Nov 03, 2011
@poster
i won't say ugly what i will say i have noticed is amongst the boys/men most of them appear to have like reddish eyes and the face always shows some stress.i must quickly add that i am talking about the average nigerian not the aircon to aircon types, for instance check out a picture of dangote as rich as he is and the man looks the picture of what i am on about.

the ladies/girls appears immune to this cause its the opposite  effect with them the average nigerian girl/lady looks  prettier and healthier and happier than the average diasporean i have asked why this is so and a girl friend who lives in london said its probably because an average nigerian based girl can afford to do her hair every week end and take time to look good while abroad they have to work all the time including the high costs of looking good compared to nigeria

Politics / Re: Tinubu Worse Than Abacha And IBB – Obanikoro by lucabrasi(m): 8:43pm On Oct 30, 2011
djustice:

If you think this is bad, wait until you see the video of the announcement of the Badagry results by the Returning Officer there. That's when you'll know that Yekini Amoda Ogunlere Sangodele a.k.a. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a real fraudster, tyrant and criminal, along with EVERYONE working for him, including Babatunde Raji Fashola (who knows if that is that one's real name sef?).

They are all members of a criminal syndicate that has seized and maintains power in contradiction of S1(2) of the Constitution. The RRS Commander, Area Commander of Area A command, the commander of OP-MESA, Justice Adeyinka, Chairman of LASIEC, a large number of LASIEC officers, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Orelope Adefulire (she was an INEC officer in Lagos State in 2003, and helped rig Tinubu in then), a large number of Judges of the Lagos State High Court, ALL the Electoral Tribunal Judges in Lagos State, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, ALL DPOs in Lagos State, ALL Area Commanders in Lagos State, the EFCC command structure, ICPC, certain top officers of the Federal Ministry of Finance, the current Minister for Trade and Investment, Olusegun Olutoyin Aganga, the Oba of Lagos, the Baale of Ibeshe in Ikorodu, the Baale of Eyita in Ikorodu, the Elegushi of Ikateland in Eti-Osa, Oba Saheed Elegushi are all members of this criminal syndicate, on account of their having received cash, land or other favours directly or indirectly from Bola Ahmed Tinubu and/or Babatunde Raji Fashola, on Tinubu's instructions.

Tinubu's actions over this last elections will precipitate serious civil unrest in Lagos that may signal the end of the Nigerian State. The Zagreb war started with an innocuous tackle on a football pitch. Gaddafi is gone, despite all he did for his people.
mr man a beg carry your propaganda and go sulk in one corner, you are obviously a politician most likely pdp trying to use the general perspective people have of nigerian politicians to score some cheap points!!

both obanikoro and the acn rigged but acn probably outrigged them hence the crying. same goes for all those areas you have mentioned its always the same pattern in every state the party with the sitting governor always manages to rig out the opposition a pdp speciality.

did obanikoro call role soyinka when he stole and embezzled all the funds at the local government when he was chairman?
not only that he got his office and the places where the documents relating to his stealing burnt, he is alleged to have been the master mind behind the assassination of funs williams due to the governorship ticket why didn't he call on soyinka then ?
they are all criminals, his son has lost let him go back and take care of his fathers businesses, after all they have stolen enough to last 10 life times or better still he can help his mother manage her clothe selling business on the island

Celebrities / Re: Dbanj- "my Mother Said I Should Go To Church To Find A Wife" by lucabrasi(m): 9:31pm On Oct 29, 2011
Amaka G29:

@ Lucabrasi: Ok, point well made, but no I don't assume EVERY person who speaks to me at church wants something (if that's the case I would probably change churches). Some men make very overt manifestations of interests outside of a discussion about the sermon. Guys who come across as sincerely wanting to be friends have never been met with anything but kindness and civility.
LOL@ bolded, you never know maybe its a vision he got that you are the chosen one
Amaka G29:

I do realize that people can meet and date in church. I'm the first one at the wedding eating the chicken. I simply don't agree with going to church to find someone other than God. If you happen to be there for God and meet like-minded people, that's wonderful. Of course dating in a church setting has its benefits and I wouldn't discourage it. Maybe I'm simply at a place spiritually where I don't need any distractions from my praise, worship, and spiritual development.

So the point is maybe D'Banj should go find God and let God help him in pursuits of love. A relationship with a solid foundation will meet longevity and success.
i am getting a clearer understanding of your comments you made earlier now, i do apologise if i came across somehow. however in my opinion church is not just an avenue to serve GOD, after all one can do so in the comfort of our homes, work and any private area but its meant to serve as a meeting points of sorts where a group of people with like minds share ideas, their problems, the pastor and the wife or vice versa even take on the job of unpaid psychologists all year round and visiting gps as part of their religious mandate.
i have always believed that spiritual development and christianity as a way of life only begins in the church but the main issue lies in our day to day i.e how do we behave when we are outside the church in our day to day lives?

if dbanj doesn't believe in GOD or serve GOD in his own way by now, then going to church might not make much of a difference, the reason why i subscribe to his mother's notion is because most males/females who are in church to serve GOD obviously and also look for a partner have already prepared themselves for that role of a good wife or husband if they are faithful in things of the lord.who knows if the girl that will change dbanj is in a church right now? pastor adeboye the go of redeemed was converted by his wife,as at the late 1980s from what i heard he wasn't even a church going christian but his wife was steadfast in the lord

Westland University, Kwara,

Halifat Gateway University, Ikeja,

Kingdom of Christ University, Abuja, . , .

that is not the way it works, the commission in charge have to run a series of interview with whoever is the owner of the proposed university.coupled with this is the fact that how can you aggregate different religious backgrounds, behaviours, mode of doing business, tribal and family affiliations e.t.c what if they start chasing each other around with hired killers due to money disputes hence it is not practicable.
the government of good luck jonathan actually tightened the process of getting the license for private universities in the last year or thereabouts hence the reason for the explosion in fake private unit
the process, the interview in abuja is like applying for an oil block

that is all we are asking for , a quick and amicable resolution which will in no small measure restore and build lost confidence hence the reason i am still subscribed to this thread

If you still have problem with accordingly,i will help you, here's a definition of what i meant, from merriam webster below

1(ACCORDINGLY) : in a proper or appropriate way : in a way that suits the facts, needs, or requirements of a situation

I dont know how to help you after this, you have close to 5000 post, what have you contributed,i guess when you get to 10k post,i can learn from you.I have said my own sha cool,no hard feelings.I really like your analysis. cool

in case you have not realised till now, each time you try explaining you r digging yourself deeper and deeper in the hole you have found yourself.there is no shame in retracting a negative comment.
if you read and comprehend the dictionary meaning you have posted, you are inferring that spider has not been charging appropriately and my grouse for responding is the fact that it is not your business what the man charges even if its ten naira for a year's work.he is an adult and does not need you to spoon feed him advice simple hence the word "PATRONISING"
as for my contributions, with all sense of responsibility and humility those who have learnt from me with the little i have contributed via my comments are testimonies and if you have the time to read through my posts. however having said that pls be aware that you are simply a user name to me and nothing more and i really don't think you can learn from me or anyone considering the fact that you are still trying to justify an obviously negative and insensitive comment which you even made in an offhand manner.since you made the comment has spyder replied you with a acknowledgement to take it on board?
how many comments have supported your stance since you made it?this shows you what the general people think of it even if you totally discountenance my views.
the only reason for my responding to it without ignoring it like most people have done at the risk of derailing the thread is for the benefit of non nigerians who trawl through these threads and might wrongly assume we all subscribe to this flawed notion
those i have learnt from and keep learning from i have never been ashamed to admit publicly on here ,you sire are not one of them, smiley
Education / Re: List Of Fake Universities In Nigeria by lucabrasi(m): 10:44pm On Oct 27, 2011
instead of them to sort out the base symptoms they are busy chasing shadows.

the federal government have refused to sort out the endemic problems in the federal universities coupled with that they set unrealistic goals before a private university can be registered due to the law of demand and supply there s bound to be loads of fake private universities cropping up to cope with the high number of potential undergraduates.
for instance some of the rules you have to fulfil before being granted a university license is
1.you have to show them proof of at least 300 hectares of landed property
2.you have to erect at least 10/20 structures on this property this is when professor okojia will now deem it fit to consider your license request
so what if you get rejected after expending at least 100million?
this is the conundrum fuelling these illegal private universities

what an awesome write up,I'm sure baba sure and his godfathers are guilty of everything in nigeria they are responsible for book haram a diversion so that they can successfully ferry their drugs out of the country.
baba suwe and his godfathers are related to the escobar family and the rest of the columbian drug cartel,
baba suwe and his godfathers are responsible for the political corruption
can you pls enlighten us how many people he was able to bribe?im sure it must have been a lot
1.the head of ndlea in order for him to shield baba sure
2.the head of the ndlea at the airport and the staffs on duty so that they won't reveal the drugs he excreted
3.the doctor who examined him
4.the airport journalists
5.the cleaners who cleaned the feaces so that they won't reveal the drug pellets to the public
6.alsothe legion of babalawos who have made the "high level juju"
7.the investigators who have been on the case

pls feel free to add more people to his bribe list by the way would you care to enlighten us on how much the budget is for just baba sure since you seem to know all the details?
also could you please show a shred of proof for all these hollywood movie assertions you have written above?

@ Lucabrasi---- you really hit the nail on the head without been sentimental, U sound professional and I surely believe you are one

@ Demain_man --- thanks for the mature analysis

@ Love-tosin ---- I do hope you won't meet your imbroglio soon, you are full of sentiment and fail to reason objectively. This phrase you used is simply for you 'sir with all due respect if you don't have anything better to say i will humbly suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself' cos you sounded like some who has been brain-washed and high on a cheap drug. Your comments are senseless

@ Nexthome --- easy does it and I like your comments above. It really shows a man who understand what change is all about. You are a great man

@ Ahonohia -- Thanks for the understanding so far
thanks a lot do appreciate the heads up
love-tosin:

Lucabrasi:`sir with all due respect if you don't have anything better to say i will humbly suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself.how can you advice the man to stop charging affordable fees?
would you rather he added millions to his fees,so how would that add or subtract from his standard of finish or professionalism??
no wonder nigeria is the way it is.kids in their twenties are taking over the world,in us ,uk you will find guys in their mid twenties who have several rental properties and are supervising building construction but not the same in nigeria because of people with similar mentality to yours.

spuder880:good day spider,I hope u r learning from this.I admire your courage n enthusiasm in this your lofty idea of building cheap affordable homes for d masses but do not forget to watch your back cuz this same set of pple singing your praise for cheap quotes will be d first to put u to d sword wen ever u make any little mistake.my lil advice 4 u is to charge accordingly w/o sentiment cuz u will never be afforded dat opportunity wen things go wrong.  Client n contractor r trying to stay offline n look for possible ways to end d imbroglio, others dat don't even have d balls to hire a contractor r busy trying to aggravate d situation.thanks for those with their constructive criticisim,I hope Brabus learns from it n apply it to his future endeavours but for those quick to condemn others , I say keep up your good work n hope u find a career out of it n for d client, for not firing your contractor n insisting on him finishing d job, I guess u av d believe in him for capable of doing a better job.I hope u resolve your issues quickly so u cld enjoy your sweat,

@lucabrasi:Are u thick in d head or something,u r not making any sense here.u need to take a chill-pill,read and understand what i wrote b4 u start creating another unnecessary mess here.where in d above post did i suggest he shld charge millions for his fee."he should charge accordingly"
no I'm not thick in the head,i am perfectly clear headed and you wrote your comments in plain english, you told the man to re asses his charges devoid of any sentiments,
first of all if you didn't realise, that comment or advise is extremely patronising to him.while i don't personally know spider,i believe he is old and experienced enough at his job to know what to charge so for him to have executed several projects some of which he has showcased on here shows that he knows what he is doing,so you don't have to advise him on his charging pattern or second guess him and his methods.

no one is asking you not to charge whatever you like if you are in same field, but the man made a deliberate and rational choice as to his charges so it really has nothing to do with you if he does and clients are happy with his charges. after all you are not his boss,a staff in his firm or business partners.that is my grouse with you and i will repeat my comment earlier that attitude behind such comments is the reason more than 100 million and above nigerians are still tenants with less than 20% left as landlords.
Aks:

On a lighter note,i was just kinda surprised by some posters on here.  One minute, they were singing brabus praises, asking people for help, gaining knowledge, saving top top $$$ on their project and smiling to d bank for huge savings.Next minute, they r attacking and spewing names like fraud, thief, embezzler and so on.You know, its kinda ironic and quite laughable.
sorry but in your own opinion,is this reason enough for spyder to now turn around and punish potential clients by reviewing his charges "ACCORDINGLY"
in case you didn't realise sire, its a two way street while a lot of people including yours truly appreciate the kind and in-depth advise being given on here and i must say i have ;learnt a lot which has propelled me to take the bull by the horn and start my own project, however do realise that these guys are also putting out a lot of awareness about their firms, getting free adverts reaching out to thousands/tens of thousands.do you know how many clients they have gotten through nairaland?
how much is the owner of nairaland charging them and how much commission is he/she being paid for the clients they got on here?

the issue is simple and straightforward, bra bu's conduct towards his client and the project was untoward especially as the client put up audio visual evidence, including a short written testimony and various comments which evidently led a lot of bra bus supporters/potential clients including myself to be utterly disappointed in his conduct and handling.in a forum such as this,we all have different manner of approach so while some will express their disappointment in the manner i and others have, you cannot discountenance others who are more abrasively vocal that is why its a public forum. button line people will celebrate a good project but condemn a shoddy project !
Aks:

No right thinking fraudster will come online, post pictures, prices, project updates, and answer questions pertaining to a project.
i beg to disagree with you,on the contrary a fraudster has to convince the mark(mugu)before getting anything out of them so this comment is absolutely false.i must quickly add however that i am not in any guise or form accusing bra bus or anyone for that matter of being fraudsters or charlatans just correcting a wrong impression.

I dont know, maybe its just me,i think such people can channel such energy into offering constructive critique, profer solution so,you and I and everyone can still gain from their expert knowledge and thus everyone is presented with a win-win situation. Why revel in someone's downfall such that, that person loose confidence in his ability,go out of biz and become a ruined person.
i think its just you, while you might be closer to these guys than i am,i have read through the whole 52 pages or thereabouts including the bra bus project gone sour, there has been a whole lot of constructive criticism as to resolving the whole issue and also advise to the client on how to patiently resolve the issue with a clear head.rather than demonising anyone on here both you and other professionals on here should commend both the client and contributors on here that the issue did not come out worse or degenerate further. i have seen nigerians arresting mechanics for payments not up to 20,000naira, i have witnessed panel beaters being arrested over less than 10,000naira.
what would you have done if the client had gone down that route?obviously both parties would have spent a lot in bribes, and relationships would have being strained if not permanently cut.
speaking as a potential client who felt let down and disappointed,i am neither reveling in his downfall or happy at the turn of events.if i did i won't spend time reading through 52 pages of comments, but i make bold to say that irrespective of how awesome he has been in the past he has damaged his  professional credibility by his handling of this issue and the only way to repair it is to build and earn the trust and accolades of his erstwhile fans. like the comment i made on the other thread a man/woman/professional is as good as his last job/project pls lets totally discard sentiments as it won't get us anywhere.
Aks:

I tell you what, most people r on here to share ideas, gain tips, reduce cost, get expert knowledge in order to build a cost-effective home from the knowledgeable experts in d house,.why then defeat that purpose- by continuing trying to run pple down instead of providing a platform for redemption and d need for them to re-believe in their ability and be a better person. Its not a rocket science to see a shoddy job but wat is not so obvious is the goal of d thread and how it plays out to d end such dat everyone win.
Potential experts who might try to share their ideas might be tempted to crawl back when they see name calling will be d order of d day in the event of a mistake they make and admit to.As such i told spyder my mind which is, when shyt goes down,he wld b all alone. I will say it again to your face if need be.Over the course of several pages on this thread, what thing of substance has been gained by contributors regarding d goal of d thread.I will say zip. Please desist from adding incisive comment to escalate d already tense situation and let this guys reach their solution. We know hes wrong, what we need is solution, and we dont need,is your judgemental mouth-piece.
true, and we say a massive thank you to all including spyder, bra bus e.t.c however one thing you must not fail to realise is that for me to entrust my project to a total stranger i met on nairaland a random forum online without any registered office that i know of means i have reposed a whole lot of trust in them.
for anyone who met any of the contractors through nairaland and then hired them for their project, do you think they have not met other contractors and architects either through family or friends? using myself as an instance
my brother's classmate is a fully qualified architect and contractor who has handled several projects mostly on the island.
my own immediate brother and sister are both qualified architects who finished at futa
now for me to now even consider an individual i don't know from adam, have never met before, have never been to his office before but based on his thread and the knowledge i have ganered from him decide to use him do you know how high the level of trust and regard i have for such person??
that is what you should consider and i am sure if bra bus and the others consider that,it will humble them and let them realise the amount of trust, confidence a lot of people have reposed in them and their ability to deliver hence the reason a lot were disappointed and expressed it.

possibly your psychotic condition is slowly improving because one of the early signs of recovery from a mentally imbalanced state is the feeling of pity or showing emotions sorry o

When it comes to the Yoruba's and jazz, I doff my heart for them because they are the number one when it comes to juju making. Infact they have the power to do an undo. There is nothing they cannot no do once they target you. Every yoruba family has an ancestral orisha which they worship be you who. Whether pastor or born again they dont joke with it. Juju is a way of life for them so if NDLEA has succumbed to that theory I will agree with them because two high tech equipment both at LUTH and airport cannot be wrong. This is black power at work. Even if they invite Oyinbos the man wont discharge any drug, the otumokpo is powerful, the only way out is to go an look for an equally strong babalawo to neutralise the jazz in his body otherwise the juju will make a mockery of science.

spyder880:

I do not need to blackmail anybody emotionally to prove any point, but the whole picture should be shown so you understand the 'behind the scenes' actions which make building different from other businesses and therefore explain why things happen in a particular way sometimes. I am not doing anybody a favour by doing a good job, but we better draw a line between the different shades of 'good', what you might consider a good job might be an eyesore to the next man.
if this was the aim, then there are more constructive and objective ways of going about this rather than making a client or potential client feel guilty if my contractor catalogued all this each time i want to complain about anything i ll refrain from doing so in order not to add to his stress level depriving me of what i want done.
spyder880:

Please be notified that there is a big difference between being difficult/troublesome and complaining about an unsatisfactory job and insisting things should be done the right way. I have had cause to refuse some jobs at the planning stage, especially when the client comes across as difficult. As you said, I am being paid, but as you know, I retain the right to accept or reject jobs, it is not by force. Same way my workers can accept or decline to take up a job I will pay them for. In the case of brabus/ahanohai, I dont think the later is difficult, he was insisting the standard he wanted be maintained and there is nothing wrong with that.
i totally understand your point, but the point i am trying to make is this, in the kind of industry you are practising in,the lowest job that you will come across will run into millions of naira.remember you are not a fairly used clothes salesman or handling 10,000naira contracts you are handling at an average contracts running into millions in both single and double digits.in most cases some people's life savings, pensions e.t.c so indignant customers, difficult clients, even some whose wife will accuse you of siphoning her husband's money e.t.c in my opinion are all part of the territory.
you retain the right to refuse clients, but unless you only take up clients who are politicians and the high and mighty who constitute the privileged 10-15% in nigeria any normal off the mill client will display these sentiments you are complaining about albeit in different degrees, if you can't stand this then i can guarantee it that you can't practise anywhere in the western world because the average westerner will test your patience to the last ebb
spyder880:

If you say nobody is waiting for another to fail then you dont know this country very well, just look at the way brabus turned from a hero to a villain in a matter of days and you will wonder where the comments like dupe and cheat came from, it can happen to me, even tomorrow, dont be surprised if it starts today sef, that is our way of thinking.
sir, sentiments aside bra bus made a mess of the client's job that is why he was receiving that amount of vitriol being poured on him.the lord is my witness when i first decided on a four flat project in the ajah area i decided to do a dedicated and thorough research into the contractor i will entrust my money to because i have had a horrible experience with lands and building projects in the past. just by following yours and bra bus threads amongst others i already shortlisted one of you guys to get in touch with and start something before the end of this year,so it wasn't just the client that was disappointed but i was as well as others who i am sure are in the same shoe.
the reason you have not rested on your oars even though you have been getting accolades is the same reason a 2face,9ice ,genevieve e.t.c will strive to do a better job that the last one because like the saying goes"you are as good as your last job"
if you ask me why people started using such strongly negative words towards bra bus,i will say it is cause of his attitude even after the client calmly and eloquently outlined his grouse and his readiness for an amicable settlement
spyder880:

When last did you visit our great country? or do you mean to tell me that the type of insecurity that exists here is in the UK? Let me tell you something, we that build houses go to the market daily with huge sums, all in raw cash, the thieves know this, the robbers are continually monitoring your movements to see any loophole and they will attack you immediately and take the cash, you are enjoying a cashless economy in the UK and you are here telling me about the same problems exists there. Talk about the deathtraps called roads here and imagine the type of avoidable loss of lives that happen as a result of the craters we have in the center of our roads as pot holes? Check a few posts back in this thread and see how my car has turned to a scrap by the roads which I pass to some sites, now show us your own pictures so we can see if you go through the same problems, some things are just not comparable. Let me not talk about the other issues like family and other community troubles, I guess you will tell me there are omo onile dealing with builders in London grin grin
you are taking my words/comments out of context,in answer to your question i visited last year june pls don't be deceived that same things dont happen here, the only time i have ever been robbed with a gun was in plum stead area of s.e london.my phone was snatched in another area of uk as well yet i have never had this experience in nigeria while i agree with you that there isn't a basis for comparison nevertheless a working contractor here also has his/her issues to contend with .the point i was trying to make is that there are challenges peculiar to builders in both the western world and nigeria for instance how would you feel as a contractor if a buildings supervisor inspected your project and condemned all the aluminium windows you have installed?or all the electrical conduit e.t.c
you can't request more more from the client because you have signed a water tight agreement with a penalty clause so you will offset the debt, you are immune from this in nigeria.
ask anyone who is familiar with the average british artisan they will resume at 9,work for 2 hours take a gay(cigarette)break of 15-30mins,then work till 12.30 a full hour break then work till 3-3.30/4.00pm and they are done.if you shout or make them angry they will abandon your job that is another vice you don't have to contend with as you can easily get a replacement.
racism you don't have to contend with especially if you are using white artisans especially gypsy travellers not only this they will steal all your materials so you can't leave them alone on your project,i have had a negative experience of this nature several times
ask anyone about getting planning permissions approved in the uk where i am familiar with it is harder than getting an american visa i know of builds that have lain derelict for years even though the clients had money to finish but no planning approval
i could catalogue more issues which you don't have to contend with, the point of my preamble is this even though the issues you have listed are justified and real, there are issues being faced in the western world which you are immune from can you imagine some of the ones i have listed here and the effect it would have on your job?
spyder880:

You cannot educate me on what clients go through to make an honest income, I am also a client to some people, don't forget I also build my own houses from a long time ago, your comment about a client not supposing to know about a builders problem is rather insensitive, I come to site and I assist my workers when they build my houses, I tackle their problems to make sure the Nigerian factors don't make them suffer more than required. Last year, my workers were attacked in my site and their tools seized by community youths, I didn't stand aside and say 'well, na their problem' I came in and intervened same day, spoke to the boys, recovered the tools and paid them for time wasted even as the boys stopped me work in error, I was not at fault. I have never failed to deliver a work at the stipulated time my clients want their work, I am the person that should even be annoyed that I am not funded so my boys can complete the work in time and we move to the next site. I don't know where you got the idea that I delay projects.
that is all very well and good if you do help out the clients, and if i ll say so myself i assume the clients for the most part do appreciate your efforts, but the stress of a building project doesn't only rest squarely on your shoulders alone, the client too is going through their own stress as well having to raise money in order for the contractor to continue working, their own family suffers as well e.t.c
if you say you have never gone past a stipulated hand over date then i believe you, speaking from a position of ignorance seeing as i don't know and wasn't there however generally speaking i know with the haphazard nature of everything in our nigeria this is bound to happen to contractors either through their fault or through circumstances beyond their purview hence the comment/assertion
spyder880:

If you feel insulted by my using a 100k/six storey analogy to paint a picture, then you lack a sense of poetry.
As for the comments that tend to criminalize the builder, this is Nigeria, where everyone is termed a thief even before he thinks of it. I still insist that every unfounded insinuation is an affront to the honest ones among us, and that people should not jump to conclusions based on their suspicions alone.
its probably more patronising than insultive and i have stated my reasons for making such assertion.in my opinion and this is what you should appreciate as well a client spending millions and tens of millions on a project, unless he is a politician or dangote's circle of friends will try to save costs where ever and cross check figures.this should not be seen as an affront towards you the contractor or doubting your integrity but the client stretching the pennies as far as possible.bear in mind that there is no safety net in nigeria in the building industry in the uk if i want you to help me build a bungalow or a garden or whatever and i can't afford it,the system is in place to pay you like 30% and i will pay the rest by finance so the burden isn't to hard on me in that situation the client won't be looking over your shoulder unlike what obtains in nigeria.

since i have been reading your threads i have not seen anyone accuse you of any impropriety simply because you are doing a good job,i read bra bus/next home's thread from beginning to the end as well because i trusted him and believed in his professional expertise based on the threads same as numerous people but when we all found acts unbecoming of a contractor you should expect people to react.
all i will enjoin of you is to totally eradicate any form of sentiments,he is a colleague of yours fine but remember the proverb which says that if two brothers enter into a room to talk and come out smiling ,then they have not told each other the truth, but if they emerge from the room with frowns over their faces then they have told each other the home truth.my 2 cents

The learning will continue there so we dont derail our friend's thread, thank you sir for your points. I will visit two sites to supervise work and we shall explore these points together later.
no worries will do
Demain_man:

^^^^^ @Spyder, I will implore you to listen to what 'lucabrasi' is saying. He has a valid point and it will do you no good in the long run to continue introducing sentiment in your opinions. You are charging your clients accordingly for jobs while trusting you capability to deliver with the charged 'Amount'.

It is called being competitive. Your ability to build of a good quality house without charging an arm and a leg is what will stand you out and win you more jobs. It is called 'turnover' isn't it?

A good builder cannot turn bad overnight. If one is having any challenge in their private life, it is ok to tell your client in time rather than do a shoddy job.

There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism whether one is a client, a potential client or an armchair computer critic.

I have learnt a lot from you guys to oversee a project to conclusion and if i see a bad job i will make noise, i tell you!!

All those your excuses of armed robbers, kindnappers, dupes etc are part and parcel of everyday nigeria phenomenon. It is not exclusive to only you builders. Even the landlord suffer the same too. Even the unemployed 'with no hope to build anything at the mo'

Travel / Re: The UK officially The Worst Place Live In Europe? by lucabrasi(m): 3:41am On Oct 26, 2011
@redman44
I don't believe the UK is the worst place to live in Europe. If this assertion is true, how come many people from other EU and EAA Countries always troop into Britain looking for work? Some people just talk without examining the issues on ground. The UK is one of the most tolerant countries in Europe. Just go to France as a black person and see the blatant racism you will face as soon as you step into the streets of Paris, Marseilles or Lyon. It is difficult to get a job as a Black person on France than in Britain. Nationals from other EU Countries swagger into the UK and help themselves to Benefits and other allowances. However, it is hard for Britons to collect benefits in Spain, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Estonia, Latvia etc.  Calling the UK a shithole is very wrong. Britain has a very efficient Transport System and the Underground in London is amazing with new structures being added on a weekly basis. There are many beautiful places in the UK. One thing I like about the country is that old structures and monuments are well taken care of.  Everyday, Westminster in Central London is filled with Tourists who keep taking pictures of the Houses of Parliament, River Thames, Buckingham Palace etc.

You will face cruel racism if you go and live in places like Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Latvia etc. I have observed that Eastern Europeans are more racist than the native Brits in the UK. Another thing is that the East Europeans believe Africans and Asians should be below them in the pecking order when it comes to getting jobs. It does not matter if their English is terrible. It is more about skin colour. Most times, people think I am British because of my diction and the tone of my voice. I speak naturally like someone who grew up in the UK but the truth is that I am 100% Nigerian. Go to France without being able to speak French and see if you will not be ignored by the French People. In England, even if you don't speak English, It is easy to access many services. I have been to places like Bristol, Brighton, Watford, Inner Essex ( South Ockendon, Tilbury, Aveley, Purfleet, Basildon etc ), Kent ( Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone etc ) and I must confess these places are beautiful and well organized. You won't know much about a place until you've lived there. London is expensive because it is the Capital City. It is cheaper to live in places like Coventry, Bristol, Manchester etc. It is all about how we organize ourselves with our finances. Germany is another country that I like and the Germans are becoming more open to living alongside other cultures.  The British Pound is still very strong and Britain made a wise decision in not joining the Euro. I don't agree that Britain is the worst place to live in Europe. Cheers.

it seems you are totally missing the point and didn't read the article posted this survey and the results were done BY EUROPEANS NOT NIGERIANS OR BLACK PEOPLE so whatever results they come up with has nothing to do with what we as africans think of the result.

i don't know how long you have stayed in the uk or what areas you have been to but i have spent most of my time in the uk outside london amongst mostly white than black and i can tell you for free that the difference between racism in the uk and the rest of europe is that the average white english man or woman will not show you the full frontal racism but behind your back.
you talk about the europeans trooping to the uk,but you fail to see the kind of jobs they are doing working in hotels as cleaners, factory work, plumbers builders ,strawberry pickers e.t.c and most of the first set are actually migrating back to their country go and check and you will find out polish people are migrating back to their country.

i have been to france before and while i agree the racism is full frontal pls tell me how many black people work in british airports amongst the ukba or haven't you noticed this? pls tell me how many black or minority ethnic people are practising surgeons?
how many minority ethnic people work in the city of london?
how many minority ethnic people are allowed to hold posts like i.t supervisors
how many minority ethnic dentists, nurses e.t.c have you noticed?most of them are either working abroad even though they schooled in the uk or working as locum staff
this are just some of the areas i am familiar with
besides where did you learn that people come into the uk and help themselves to benefits??do you know how much benefits in cash and in kind britain also gets from the european union funds??or do you think they allowed european nationals out of the goodness of their hearts?

sir,pls don't make assertions you don't know anything about!!!!
britons actually collect their benefit from europe, even the retirees who have houses in spain ,portugal france and other eu areas have british post offices there where they go in to collect their weekly pensions.

well compared to many places in europe that is why they r calling the uk a poo hole,as poor as spain is their aestethic beauty beats that of uk
pls visit germany and how clean and in order germany is compared to uk
same goes for belgium and a number of other eu countries in similar level with the uk

no one is saying that the uk does not have places of interest but the point is that the result is a wholistic view of uk as a whole will westminster feed hungry people or provide jobs?

well, you cannot compare the uk to the poorer eu countries you have mentioned reason?
go and search the history books and find out when they joined the eu compared to the uk.

check how much they have compared to the uk and also their political history and the upheavals they have gone through
some of the eu countries you are deriding now took the heaviest brunt of the 2nd world war when hitler levelled them to the ground where was britain?they were covering their asses and didn't intervene until they had no choice!

don't deceive yourself as long as you did not grow up in britain your accent can never be passed off as that of a briton, africans have a strong accent which comes up in their diction and the average briton will tell you immediately unless they are just being polite with you.
your assertion about languages doesn't hold any water, how many places in uk or outside london is multi lingual?or is translated into multiple languages??
you speak and understand english thats why you find it easy
an average east african will find it easier in france or belgium as well
an angolan will find it easier in portugal or spain or brazil so what are you on about

who told you the british transportation is perfect,do you even listen to or read the news at all? do you know that transportation in uk is one of the highest in the world?
compare train fees in uk to other parts of the world or don't you take the train, bus or drive?

i have lived in manchester, stoke on trent, banbury, essex, london, bristol, coventry, leicester and been to scotland and several other areas in the uk and i can definitely tell you it might be cheaper than london but nevertheless it is still expensive.compare the amount you spend on your weekly shopping in the major five supermarkets with this time last year.

compare what it costs for gas and electricity last year and the twenty something percent increase this year?

check out bank charges
council tax and tv license

go and check out the roads and hospitals in germany and then compare it to uk

the fact that britain didn't join the euro doesn't mean that their won finances isn't in trouble,do you even read the news at all??
do you realise that britain's industries are like non existent?they virtually contract everything outside
do you know how many industries have moved their offices out of uk in the past 5 years?
i recall dell just moved to europe about 3 yrs ago
everything is being manufactured in either europe, india or china go and find out.

pls name how many banks you see on the high street has not moved their main switchboard abroad?
is it hsbc?barclays e.t.c pls go and find out

the premiership football clubs how many are owned by brit concerns?

energy company like eon, british gas e.t.c how many are owned by british ?
I'm sure you know the main cable tv sky is owned by murdock a foreigner including almost 70% of newspapers
most of the houses in chelsea, richmond and a list areas are owned by russians, nigerian politicians e.t.c who don't pay any tax

if you think finances are organised then you are living in a different britain to the rest of us,including the prime minister.
even the government in power have admitted things are bad yet you are crying more than the bereaved.
i will advise you to listen to the news, check economic fore casts before making sweeping general statements you can't know more about the uk than the british who were born here and have studied their economies.
so you can't defend their country if they are saying their country is in trouble.the difference between we africans and the average white westerner is that they are not ashamed to say it out publicly if things are not going right unlike we africans while we are dieting we will still claim there is no problems

there are more mature ways to handle male advances than running away from guys besides for people who believe they are ready for marriage i don't see anything wrong in hook ups in church.apart from their being a higher probability of finding a marriage material both male and female its like a community and melting pot with the added oversight and supervision of church elders and pastors e.t.c
chill out not every guy that says hi in church wants to date you!they might simply want to be friends, males have female friends devoid of anything sexual you know, nigerian girls lol

Thank you Love-tosin, to tell you the truth I have been rethinking this whole idea of building online, or even doing contract building because of my sensitive nature, I love to assist people build their houses so they can be happy but sometimes the Nigerian factor in us makes things difficult. I know people are waiting for me to fail so they can laugh, but I am still doing all these for the real friends I have made online, so they dont say I abandoned them. I have had cause to refuse some few contracts in the past few months because the client sounded as if he will be troublesome.
i have followed your threads and a lot of threads on here for a long while even though i don't do much postings,so i have seen and read about a number of your projects.however truth be told let us stop this emotional blackmail sire, you are not doing anyone a favour by doing a good job,you are being paid for it and also upholding your building firm which you are representing.if you had been a quack then you wouldn't have gotten more jobs or bigger jobs.pls enlighten me why is it that when a customer complains in nigeria they are automatically seen as difficult or troublesome/should i keep quiet and accept any standard of work so as not to be a troublesome client?
nobody is waiting for you to fail because the sky is big enough to contain every player in the building trade,if you keep having this mindset then you will not give free rain to your capacity to be at the top of your game
being honest and upfront with your projects is not an extra ordinary trait as you are making it sound,if you were practising in the western world, this is expected of you or you wouldn't last in the trade so no one sees it as a big deal, but i guess in a country like nigeria is is like a GODlike quality which only few posses
spyder880:

Building construction is not easy, was not easy and never will be in the future, you are faced with all the negative influences plaguing our country,
Armed robbers
Kidnappers
Dupes
Bad workmen
Troublesome family of owner (siblings and spouse)
Disgruntled friends
Troublesome community
Accidents
Late nights
Etc
nothing comes easy, and you will find that most of these vices you have listed are existent in every single country in the world.you should even be lucky you are not in the western world where the building control representative have to approve your job at every single step of the build including the window frames, flooring e.t.c
you don't have to contend with filthy weather like winter, snow you don't have to contend with racism, lazy workmen, health and safety red tape nightmare.
spyder880:

I have seen plenty in this short while I have been building houses, although I have some good momories but the negatives have been mind boggling! If not for the courage to carry on, and the encouragement of our nairaland community here, I would have quit long time ago. Anyone who have never built houses dont know what its like, honestly! Its not like any other business, rain beats us on site, the sun, working long hours till night. Its not easy o, and I ask again, how much can you charge to cover your expenses? Fuel, car repairs, other hanging expenses.
while you are totally write on the bolded, pls spare a though for the client as well because you don't know what they had to go through to make the funds used in the building project.the same way you are going through this for an honest days job is the same way people are going through a lot to make the millions required for you to execute the build.it is not a client's responsibility to know about your personal issues but i guess its nigeria. the same way the client won't charge you extra like its done in the western world (some call it a penalty clause attached to building contracts)if you don't deliver at the stipulated time which you will agree has happened often in your building career so it goes both ways
spyder880:

I praise anybody who will take building houses as business, owners want to spend only N100k and complete one 6 storey building! And if you try to explain to them why it should be costlier, they think you have finished their money. Friends will be on the side and telling the home owner that the contractor is cheating him, if the contractor changes his shirt, people will say he used the client's cash, even without proof!

Honestly, I don tire.
sir,its a very insulting and patronising comment saying that a prospective client wants you to finish a 6 storey building with 100k.an average building project especially in our part of the world is a big deal by any standards so anyone undertaking such has a right to check and cross check every single expenses and to cut costs where ever.besides you won't really blame the average prospective client for doubting considering the horrible experiences some have gone through ?
what you will spend to build a bungalow in nigeria will purchase same size house in an upmarket area of either uk or the usa,so when you see people arguing over costs and such like they see it as a lot of money and its money off an individual or family's sweat.
if you were going to be totally objective and make your comments devoid of any sentiments then you will quickly realise that those clients making such allegations have good reasons to do so.the allegations are not unfounded and are stuffs that happen and continue to do so since there is no government body to sanction an errant builder or contractor.
even in the uk with the laws, sanctions e.t.c contractors and builders engage in the bolded so how can you excuse such behaviour as unfounded or not true?

love-tosin:

@spuder880:good day spider,I hope u r learning from this.I admire your courage n enthusiasm in this your lofty idea of building cheap affordable homes for d masses but do not forget to watch your back cuz this same set of pple singing your praise for cheap quotes will be d first to put u to d sword wen ever u make any little mistake.my lil advice 4 u is to charge accordingly w/o sentiment cuz u will never be afforded dat opportunity wen things go wrong. Client n contractor r trying to stay offline n look for possible ways to end d imbroglio, others dat don't even have d balls to hire a contractor r busy trying to aggravate d situation.thanks for those with their constructive criticisim,I hope Brabus learns from it n apply it to his future endeavours but for those quick to condemn others , I say keep up your good work n hope u find a career out of it n for d client, for not firing your contractor n insisting on him finishing d job, I guess u av d believe in him for capable of doing a better job.I hope u resolve your issues quickly so u cld enjoy your sweat,
sir with all due respect if you don't have anything better to say i will humbly suggest you keep your thoughts to yourself.how can you advice the man to stop charging affordable fees?
would you rather he added millions to his fees,so how would that add or subtract from his standard of finish or professionalism??
no wonder nigeria is the way it is.kids in their twenties are taking over the world,in us ,uk you will find guys in their mid twenties who have several rental properties and are supervising building construction but not the same in nigeria because of people with similar mentality to yours.

six months is even way to long to wait, the feudal and tribal leaders in libya have started wrangling already over where to bury ghadaffi and his son.pro ghadaffi mostly from his hometown who make up on side want him to be buried in sirte, while anti ghadaffi are also wrangling within themselves with one side asking for him to be buried in secret while the other don't care.the frightening reality is that this will become gradually worse over the coming months so don't be surprised that by the time your 6 months prediction comes round suicide bombing will be the order of the day, something that wasn't exciting prior to the western "LIBERATION'
