Education / Re: ASUU Vs FG Face-off: Just Before You Nail The NANS President by lucabrasi(m): 4:53pm On Sep 14, 2013
otokx: ASUU does not give brown envelopes or "kola" to its visitors, neither do they give transport allowance or take care of the hotel bills. The guy said he is an OAU student; why did he not go to the local ASUU chapter president to interact with him?
the ASUU chairman was actually asked why they did not speak to NANS and the man's reply was "which faction of NANS?the ones being sponsored by politicians?
Education / Re: ASUU Vs FG Face-off: Just Before You Nail The NANS President by lucabrasi(m): 4:52pm On Sep 14, 2013
berryldilty: ASUU is selfish. they behave as if they are the only ones in the education sector. if they want to earn big like those in government, they should resort to politics. an average lecturer earns 1.8million or more per annum not to talk of the PhD holders and professors. what of the primary and secondary school sector which is the bedrock of education is not properly funded in terms of allowances and salaries. a secondary school teacher earns less than 300,000 per annum plus the primary school teachers who earn less than 200,000 per annum. they are very greedy. its time for students to rise up and say NO to this injustice that is being meted out on us. SUG presidents and executives should rise up, NANS should rise up and say NO. universities should pull out of te strike. let there be an enforcement of no work no pay and u will see that they will go back to class.
an average lecturer in the worst higher institution in the uk earns almost 10million naira equivalent per annum,ASUU signed an agreement with Govt once and they refused to honour it,wouldn't it be foolish of ASUU to give Govt the benefit of doubt again on trust?
the higher education sector in Nigeria is in a state of coma,if nothing is done like the radical move ASUU is embarking on i can bet you even Ghana will not accept a Nigerian certificate.

go and find out,all the harvard, cambridge ,oxford e.tc why do you think people rush to attend them and pay a lot of money?
all their lecturers were enticed with big money.the western university system is run like a premiership they entice genius and world class brains to their university with big money.you complain a lecturer is forcing you to buy hand outs why won't they when they are not paid enough?
i schooled abroad and i have never paid 1 penny for handouts all through my degree,no lecturer has ever had sex with a student because they won't want to jeopardise their career and the good money they are collecting

TV/Movies / Re: A Short Script (VENGEANCE) by lucabrasi(m): 9:50pm On Aug 14, 2013
the script is just ok but needs a lot more work bro, there are syntax and grammatical errors.
you need to arrange them properly and also adjust the dialogue to be much more realistic, lastly the whole plot is too light and simplistic, its a very common plot which many movies have been created on.you need to look for a more compelling subject in the average urbane community for instance maybe these guys are involved in fraud and swindle the wrong person then you could tie it in the the guys with the gun.

what are the boy's background, are they born and bred in the uk or moved to the uk like the average naija these little attention to details will reflect heavily on the script.
writing a script is hard work that is if you want to do it properly so you are best off writing a compelling story good luck

First of all, apology if I may ve waste ur time. As you can see we ve through with this particular project and I ve already presented ur product before our other client. He is trying to compare ur product with ours here before taking decision. Now, back to time wasting issue. Many people here send design to us to prepare the bill, some request for design with 3D, gather information, even lead us to site to get proffessional advise with promising of giving us work, eventually we wont hear from them...I mean wasting our time...But life goes on!
you could have told me this but you didn't say anything at all hence the retort from me obviously i know that anyone undertaking a project would have made alternative arrangements for their own materials but i just informed you on the off chance that you had someone who might need them,i have followed your thread from the beginning till now but i didn't get in touch with you yet until now because i dont like making noise when i have nothing to do so if i take the first step then i am certainly going to go all the way the materials i sent the list to you are just the ones i am trying to sell in order to raise some money towards my impending project i have more which includes prime british marble and switches e.t.c which i intend to use for myself i am waiting on mr tony flez for a feed back on some enquiries and also doing some number crunching but like i said GOD willing we will start something very similar in the next 1/2 months

Car Talk / Re: Staff Ko, Staff Ni! Pay Your Money Joor! by lucabrasi(m): 3:51pm On Dec 02, 2012
sienna116: I boarded a bus this morning on my way to work, as the bus conductor was going around collecting the bus fares, I heard the guy(bus conductor) apparently shouting at a passenger who obviously was forming "staff". For those who don't stay in Lagos or Nigeria, "staff" are usually members of the nigerian police force or the Nigerian army who by virtue of their service to Nigeria are exempted from paying bus fares.

Back to my gist, according to the conductor, he asked the lady for her bus fare and that next thing he saw was that the lady brought out a pair of handcuufs claiming she was a staff. I think she must have been a staff of the prison service, going by her uniform. This obviously didn't go down well with the conductor who told her "wetin be my bizness say u be staff? Abeg! Pay me my money! Abi na staff I take dey buy fuel? U con dey comot handcuff! U wan arrest prisoner abi if u see thief u fit arrest am? Etc.

Though the lady later got off the bus without paying, I begin to wonder why the police who can't even protect the lives of its citizen would be exepted from paying bus fares while we the law abiding citizens pay? And then also, considering the cost of buying fuel and settling of agberos and lastma, how much are those drivers left with?

Is this right or wrong? What do you think?
just last week thursday i was at the shepherds bush underground train station when a plainclothes male police officer flashed his warrant(police identity) and the station staff immediately opened the barrier for him and he passed through so this happens all over its not strange to only nigeria

Romance / Re: Husband Celebrates Bride's Virginity! by lucabrasi(m): 5:56pm On Nov 23, 2012
intrepid: This issue of virginity hits different cords in different peoples' hearts...A man who just got married last 3 months has gone to "thank and celebrate" with his wife's family, his family and his own close friends because he discovered that his 28 year old wife was a virgin! Any uninformed visitor would think it was a minor marriage(though they didnt make it public) ceremony in their family house as enough drinks and food were in abundance...According to the 35 year old architect who also has a growing and successful business in Abuja,he was suprised and overjoyed to see such a beautiful woman who passed tru a university and at her age still maintaining her virginity.IT portrayed a strong will and showed also that she was a good woman and could be trusted....He also told the parents that it wasnt just the virginity issue but the character of the lady that made him to organise such a party! The guy said that he too was a virgin up to that point(35 years) and was very happy that he found someone who had same beliefs like him.And the lady confirmed it (I dont know how o).The man believed that her wife's parents were instrumental to the girl's determination and good character....hence his idea to come encourage and thank them.
she might very well be but at the same time i hope the man has not entered emergency one chance..there are cosmetic surgical procedures that will re attach the hymen making a woman who has even had a child virgin and covered down there..most Asians(indians and pakistanis) who have been sleeping around this procedure is very common and popular amongst them because they take virginity very serious in their community

Just one word of warning, it is better to act fast as the omo onile in Ogombo are well off anyway and get put off by too much talk talk and big big grammar. Don't be afraid, there are many people in the Ogombo cottage industry who are willing to help you so don't act too smart.

If you have the money now, Ogombo is the place to be because the proximity of Lekki 2 and Abraham Adesanya estate and Lagos Business School is bound to rub off on the area.

Good luck.

i did my undergraduate in the united kingdom as well and i really don't believe a lecturer can make you rest a whole module just because you missed the deaden for an essay..the worst the lecturer can do is to deduct marks depending on how many days late your sister's coursework was..and she can't even arbitrarily remove marks because there are guidelines which will be in your sister's student handbook as well.
now lets even assume even though its highly unlikely that she was failed for the coursework,in final year(3rd) the dissertation makes up 75% of total grades and coursework's make u only 25% so even if she fails her coursework she will still get an average pass to graduate..i believe the whole story has not been disclosed here.it is not possible for a single lecturer to victimise a student in a uk university because every university has guidelines in place to checkmate it..its not a nigerian university where a lecturer is GOD i have seen people abuse lecturers, and i have had lecturers who are racist yet they would dare not fail you or mark you down without proper reasons because no lecturer would want to damage their years of experience just for some students
however generally speaking, its sad but true that the uk is getting increasingly tough for students and you gys are lucky your sister is in her final year

.my university was not in the top 20 but i have friends who graduated in top 20 universities including uni of manchester, lmu e.t.c and there were several occasions when lecturers and staffs coerce them to make positive feedbacks concerning their time at the university.this is what is used to a noticeable externt in determining the ratings obviously in concert with other criterias it is not as simple and straighfoward as you are making out and yes its true there are several universities abroad with a higher rating than the oxford

were you there?
besides while remonstrating for your friend a man is laying lifeless in the mortuary while your friend can still lift her arms and legs and still feed her 2 month old.
she can't hurt a fly but she has managed to send a fully grown man to heaven because she couldn't be bothered to face the consequences of her actions, does she or can she drive that way whenever she travels out of the country?
laws are made for a reason, they might not be pleasant but they are meant to be obeyed.
a friend of mine here who just pushed a traffic officer with his car by maybe 2 inches got charged for assault with a deadly weapon as well as other charges
while praying that the man's family have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,i am also praying that your friend will suffer the full consequences of her actions both here on earth and if she manages to press buttons she will suffer it in the thereafter.
if she is like you have described her,the best thing she can do is to own up to the truth, explain how she panicked and her conscience will be clear

keemax: Thanks @ lubracasi. Every enviroment has a peculiar way of doing it's own business. I am not disputing the fact that the terrain here is harsh - infact you start to see 'us' in action when you highlight from the plane.
Look through the thread, I had early written that if you love bureaucracy then you can venture into PPP. I think I was wrong when I thought everyone understood the term 'bureaucracy' - this meant the 'human factor' you mentioned in your post.

Take a stance of 'look before you leap' through a business plan. This will tell you the price you have to pay for the PPP and the 'extra'. Ask yourself if you can pay it? If not, it isn't for you. Also make sure a legal agreement, duly signed by a lawyer is in place - I wrote this at the start of the post on PPP.
The truth is that there is hardly any SME business you can do in Nigeria that the 'human factor' does not play a role - it has permeate our system. Haliburton and Siemens have a lot to say about doing business in Nigeria.
Albeit, problems are meant to be solved and not run away from. For those who are interested, the winning plan, as I have advocated for in my early post on PPP, is to allow all stakeholders have a part of the profit on a monthly basis. Unfortunately the customer bears the brunt.
Thanks.
