All you people shouting about eating a deadly snake. The venom doesn't harm you when ingested. Venoms are mostly protein and your body will digest the venom as protein. But what is deadly is when you eat a snake venom when you have a cut in your mouth. Proteins are harmful when they come in contact with blood, not to your digestive system.

So my dear brothers, eat it all but if you have a cut in your mouth, I'm sorry for you. grin grin

TV/Movies / Re: My Review Of Ay's A Trip To Jamaica Movie by lucarella: 9:02am On Oct 09, 2016
queenfav:
The moment i heard about this movie some months ago, i mentally rated it a "must-watch" movie. To be honest,i dunno which is more worse between this and Bovi's "its her day" movie.

I really had high hopes about this movie (come on,its a sequel to AY's 30 days to Atlanta).First of all,Olamide's performance in the first scene was disgraceful to say the least. His lip sync of his Shakitibobo song was off key, left me wondering if he had any real musical talent.

How do i put this nicely? What the hell,I'd just say it,the movie was an EPIC FAIL.Ay should have stuck with the success he recorded with 30 days in Atlanta.Damn, how hard would it be to leave when the ovation is loudest?

The movie is one which offered me two moments of laughter, when I should have been losing count. Sadly, the anticipated comedy movie has lots of jokes falling flat - jokes that make it unexciting to watch.

Watching "A Trip to Jamaica" was like sitting through a boring reunion where you find everyone and everything annoying, but still sit through, hoping to find a connect.(I had to o,afterall i paid na). Unfortunately, the connection didn't come. Not from the cast, not from the story, and certainly not from the few funny scenes!

I'd say the comedy didn't come naturally for the characters at all. Even Funke Akindele wasn't any better than AY.The movie is below par because they were basically trying too hard to amuse the audience (and you know how that ends...Disaster).

Again, the sound quality was really poor.I could barely hear most of the conversations, while some scenes were too loud. The patoranking and Cynthia morgan scenes were not even close to funny or necessary in my opinion.

When the movie ended,i was relieved, like how did i sit through this?I thought AY would surpass my expectations considering the success of his earlier movie.

If you loved "30 Days to Atlanta,' you would definitely find "A Trip to Jamaica" less interesting!

NB:These are my thoughts on the movie, you may like it afterall.

Oh my days! That Trip to Jamaica was a complete disaster! Bovi's it's her day was alot better. I mean. The guys were trying to hard to make us laugh. WTF?? It almost felt like they were in a rush to produce the movie. It looked like it was shot in 3 days.

Coupled with the bizzare and annoyingly obvious product placements. Na so oyinbo dey do am? Complete #shit

Oh boy na wa oo. If you were around during the age of the wonderbanks, you wouldn't even try this MMM of a thing.
No one is saying that they are not paying now, of course there's no complain. You'll get your money now. The reason why I like the guys is, you start small but grow your investments. They gain your trust gradually. Eventually, when you decide to invest a larger amount, the so called 'company' folds up and disappears. Then you begin to wail.

But honestly, are we this dumb in this part of the world? The internet is supposed to broaden our thinking and knowledge but we haven't done much with it. How can you not understand how you get a 30% SURE increase on your investment? Yet you invest. It's worrying. Even Government bonds don't pay this much.

Well, to be honest, my advice for you is, always invest amounts that won't give you a High Blood Pressure if you lose it. They could fold up anytime without a trace. Enjoy it while it lasts.

SEO is a Marathon and not a Sprint . As i said earlier i have a proven Record of SEO success with clients which as improved their sales and recommendation .

Lol. Do you really know what you're saying? WordPress runs on what? Java??
Well, if you are talking of industry websites and you don't have a domiciled blog, then I'm worried for you and your seo practice. Metadata and tags are easily done now. No one needs a 'professional', all they need is WordPress.

To be honest, your proven record isn't as fantastic as you think bro. In a couple of years from now, it'll all be gone. Learn the art of content analysis and marketing and you will still remain in business.

I have Proven record and you can check them out . cheers !
Sigh. Who's arguing? Metadata, etc. Things that WordPress automatically helps you with. Don't limit yourself sir. This is a faceless community. I really don't need the publicity. Let me tell you simply what ill do to get even better results for your so called track record on your website. I'll get wordpress, open a domiciled blog, search for keywords which don't produce as much results, include those keywords in my article and share the article to different sources to gain a back link. Submit the site to Google. In a matter of weeks to months, I'm on the first page. I'm pretty sure this was what was done in your case.
I'm not saying seo isn't a business. I run multiple websites with all these things you mentioned in them and they rank well. But it's not sustainable because other sites who have better relevant content are at a disadvantage. The search engines realize this now. That's all I'm trying to say. You really need to unlearn to learn sometimes.

Webmasters / How Many Users Do We Really Have In Nigeria?? by lucarella: 12:07pm On Oct 02, 2016
I recently stumbled on a piece written by a digital marketer and I began to ask myself the same thing. How many users do we really have in Nigeria?

While it's easy to scream 97 million because the NCC says so, sit down and ponder about it. The NCC talks about only gsm networks right? It will interest you to know that NCC has no means of even knowing how many people use more than one SIM. A majority of Nigerians do. Due to the network challenges they face. So NCC automatically reads your 2 or 3 sims as 2 or 3 different people. Hereby increasing the number of internet users. Still not convinced?

Okay, so over 70 percent of internet users are on social media. This takes the very first activity on the internet. If we have 97 million users, how come we have only 16 million Facebook users and about 4-5 million Twitter users (bearing in mind that most people on Facebook are also on twitter and instagram). Nairaland has only 1.6 million registered users with about 9 million unique views every month. This is the 8th most visited site in Nigeria. Figures definitely don't add up.

So I have been asking, where are the other internet users? I mean, brands run digital campaigns and stills achieve the same reach.

I personally believe that we are less than half of that figure. But saying that will make us unattractive to potential brands who want to do business here in Nigeria. What do you think?

Nice website. Also amazing job with your portfolio. But I have 2 requests/questions?
1. How long did it take you to rank these sites as top in google?
2. Can climaxbox come up in top google search results. You know, it'll be nice to practise what you preach.

I started my career in digital since 2010. And I started with SEO. I dropped a site in ranking to top 500 in Nigeria - without 1 naira spent. Those were the glory days. But now, SEO has evolved (Maybe not died). Keywords will only get you as far. Even Wikipedia has suffered heavy loss in traffic and organic results recently. Don't get me wrong, I offer SEO services too, but saying that these are evergreen digital marketing tips is what I don't agree with. Some sites who don't have the slightest clue about SEO are ranked top organically on Google. Coincidence? Nah!
Business / Re: 5 Internet Marketing Tactics That Will Never Go Out Of Fashion by lucarella: 10:40pm On Oct 01, 2016
WebclickNG:
I totally disagree with your position on SEO. While content is king, SEO to me is at the center of all the marketing method and the most important. For instance, the keyword you mention is a component of SEO. There is SEO in social media marketing, Website marketing, email marketing and many others. If you are a digital marketing pro, you should know the importance of SEO whether it is local, organic or ecommerce.

Against the point raised by the OP, SEO is not just about ranking your website in SE. There are many applications to SEO.

I think we need to first of all understand the meaning of SEO. Seems you are beginning to mix the whole thing up. Your content should be structured but it doesn't guarantee top search results - why? Because search engine sites of nowadays focus on content relevance before any other thing. (Please check out Google Panda - Their most recent algorithm in 2011).
You said there is SEO in social media, email marketing? Really? What is SEO? Search Engine Optimization! How can you possibly have SEO in E-mail? Or are they search engine sites too? You confuse me sir.

Also to buttress my explanation, you are webclick.com.ng. If you are really strong in SEO like you claim, how come your website never comes up top on search engines when digital marketing companies are searched for? Why? Google doesn't consider your site to be relevant to an average Nigerian online user searching for Digital Marketing agencies.
Please don't mix up your understanding of SEO with content Analysis and marketing. SEO is organic search engine results.

P.S. This is coming from the CEO of a digital marketing agency and one of the earliest Google Adwords certified professionals in Nigeria.

I agree with all except SEO. SEO is dying because search engines are updating their algorithms to suite relevant content (This is an aspect that they spend tons of money on) as opposed to keywords. Now, you don't need to be a SEO guru for your website to rank higher. Just provide relevant and unique content.

God bless you for this.

The more I read Toyin's write up of lies, the more irritated I get.

The bank he was hoping on as backup to provide the much needed guarantee stalled because they were very sceptical about funding Toyin's HITV mess.

If HITV had been properly ran and managed (even if they were operating at a loss which is naturally expected in the first few years for a new business), banks would have been falling over themselves to provide the guarantee he badly needed before the expiration of the deadline.

Toyin presented a business model to the bank that provided the bulk of the funds he needed to start the business. Did he follow the business plan? Didn't he deviate from it? What happened to all the "content" and "programmes" he claimed he was going to bring on board to HITV? Did he do all that? NO!

You can't present a business plan to a bank for a loan of 20 billion naira, the loan gets approved and then you run back to them asking for another 40 billion when you are yet to pay off the initial 20 billion with little progression in the company and expect the bank to do your bidding.

Every bank has a risk appetite and an acceptable level of debt exposure. There are no sentiments involved. If it's outside their risk threshold, they either ask the company to look for another bank to share the risk and provide some sort of syndicated loan (which was what Toyin was hoping to acheive) or they walk away from the deal.

Don't be so quick to put a rope around his neck. The bank wanted to help, no wahala. But, at what interest rate? Do you know what it takes to run a business of that size in this terrain with the banks looking over your shoulder every time? The kickbacks, the unprecedented miscellaneous expenses, and finally the competition. If you are not a very prudent and ruthless businessman, you can't survive on those loans. He accepted his lack of experience in running that business, but it's all a lesson and we should all take notes. In as much as he was guilty, the system is also a mess. It makes competition with foreign companies impossible. The govt. could do more

this is one write up I guess is so meaningful and you gat to learn from.
First I think I gat to blame HITV partners in the aspect of not making sure the NIG govt make sure the paytv right for football that is most watched is not monopolized, even when hitv paid and took the right from the formal foreign provider DStv,this wasn't for more a year but I guess 2-3years,that time they shld ve pursued that goal of de-monopolizing the game which is gonna be to their favour as they shld ve known they run a company with loan.

He pointed some things out when u want to embark on multi national biz,DO NOT neglect the govt backing or rules, EQUIty is far more beta than relaying on loan and this part of the world loan is even very expensive to maintain. I expect the partners who must ve been in other business shld know that.
See AIT quickly dive into equity to save their business and now its DAAR comm., Plc.

Well, the final problem with this nation is the fact they re so uneducated to know a nation will grow when indigenous control a lucrative business like the paytv sports and other things, they should have laws in place to benefit the citizen of the nation to ve priority rite to such ownership and control as we all know how much monopoly the foreign investor gain from our country and all their income repatriated to their country which looks like milk drying where they generate their income from.

That's my point. I don't think it's lack of education. It's more of greed and our policies. First of all, we really can't compete with foreign companies in terms of liquid cash. Because a company in the UK or in Japan or China borrow money from their govt. at a 'ridiculous' fraction of what we pay as interest - with longer terms of repayment. They come to Nigeria to compete with Nigerians that either don't have access to these loans or borrow at about 24 - 30%% interest/year. How do you expect us to cope? We can't. That's why foreigners have taken over.

Now coming to greed and corruption. When you have a foreign company that can afford to put a large amount of money down for a business and as far as 'sorting' is concerned, a govt. official can take a percentage of that amount as bribe, why would he encourage Nigerian companies who don't have the 'bribe' to give them. There is a fundamental problem with this country and it can't be solved at the surface. HITV was a victim because Toyin Subair was a daring fellow and we all knew about it. There are tons of businesses that suffer from this thing everyday.

Na God go punish multichoice and NBC. Corruption killed Hitv because I'm sure multichoice bribed them to rule in their favor.

My Hitv dish and strong decoder just waste like that. The EPL was the main market. And multichoice did all they could to block them from getting it. I'm sure they might even be the ones that blocked the bank from giving them the money on Tuesday. Hitv was willing to share but dstv refused to. Such is life.

Our Nigerian government killed our Nigerian company. What is stopping the ministry of information from investing in the company. Probably there's no one to bribe them. Useless set of people.

I just wish there can be another indigenous company that can rival those useless multichoice. So they can stop collecting my 14k per month.

My brother. DSTV operates with the highest level of 'cabalism' in this country. You have no idea. It's very hard to topple them. Their chairman is friends with Govt. people.

Nice post. Let me add mine.
The best traffic you can get for your blog is organic traffic.
You can get organic traffic. By build authoritative in the google seo ranking.
For example. Building your backlinks. Here is the most important and natural way of getting organic traffic.
You can get organic traffic. By registering on those sites that have a higher pr9 rankings.
Like facebook, twitter,vk.com, pinterest, ucweb, operamini. When you register on those higher ranking sites that google approved then you will see your organic traffic flowing.
You can contact my email to know more about backlinks building and others.

Good stuff. However, it's not just about getting backlinks to top sites. Google is getting smart. Linking generally will get you good SEO. Internal and external linking. Don't be stingy with links and also don't overdo it.
The best way to get very good traffic is via Google Search and a major contributor is your localized domain extension (.ng) and relevant/unique content. If you don't have relevant content, if you share from now till kingdom comes, you won't get quality traffic to boost your blog.

Contrary to what we all thought, according to the MD, Shareholders, interest and the Government contributed to the fall of HITV. Read.

My great mentor asked me one day, a few years ago, why after the appointment of a Receiver/Manager by GTB over the assets of HiTV I gave up fighting and just rolled into a semi coma.

He said this because, he knew how hard we fought to save it. I responded with the story of King David crying to GOD over his sick child but then quickly wiped his face off, ate and started drinking, when the child was pronounced dead. You really just must know when to move on so that you can see and take the future opportunities that will come your way. Thereafter, Solomon, the wisest and richest ruler of Israel was born to David because he looked and lived forward.

People who care, ask me what happened to HiTV and others in their supreme wisdom profess their own reasons. I have kept my peace and quietly moved on in life, until I wrote an article recently about 1 million Digital Jobs from the Creative sector. I realise, however, that if I am throwing a challenge to other entrepreneurs to be bold and creative, I, who used to be a poster boy for a generation and who failed after 5 years of a great business endeavour, owed it to them to share my HiTV experience.

Choose your shareholders carefully and know the implication of every clause in your Shareholders agreement, if you are going to sign one.
HiTV collapsed essentially because of a clause in our original Shareholders Agreement, which allowed a group of founding shareholders to block the company raising money or selling off a subsidiary. This right was exercised to block our capital raise because it was believed to be a possible ploy by another group to take control of the company. We the management were caught in the middle and it took us another 8 months to pursue the alternative that was acceptable to the shareholders but by that time the equity market had gone bust, leaving us grovelling all over for debt.

Every power you give up has future ramifications so don’t sign away your life for what may be a quick fix or a “morsel of bread” as it might come back to bite you. The same right you give to Mr A and is used wisely, will in the hands of Mr B be used to destroy your dreams.

I failed to know and manage my investors properly, which made it hard for me to mediate when they didn’t see eye-to-eye.

Perception is EVERYTHING in Nigeria.
Your neighbour, banker, staff, bloggers, enemies are watching you and it is not what you are that matters but what others see and are saying about you.

Once you are funded by other people’s money, either investors or bankers, it matters what they think. So your lifestyle must be measured. Even if you have access to other sources of income, you must be prudent in spending and seen to be prudent else it will be assumed that you are “extravagant” and/or diverting other people’s money for your own personal use.

Soley because it is common place in Nigeria for executives to mismanage corporate funds , people are quick to judge and assume every situation is the same . I never touched company money or take a single bribe or kick back. HiTV had full corporate governance rules in place and a budget that was jealously guarded by a Board that sat 6 times in a year. Even when I went out or travelled with a supplier, I always insisted on paying, but only my shareholders and management team knew that. This forthrightness of mine made me throw caution to the wind since I knew I was clean BUT unfortunately I didn’t realise the negative impact it could have on my reputation. The first thing your adversaries or haters target in order to bring you down, is your reputation. Protect it.

Whatever you do, train people and invest in them
One thing we did right was to invest in the lives of our people. I inspired all my staff, which grew to about 380 plus, in 6 locations in Nigeria and a London office, including over a thousand dealers, by making sure I led by example, sent them on trainings, exposed them to the international market and bought them books to read about Media, and very importantly made them know we were all in the same boat. If I was comfortable they also had to be, and if they were going through pains, we had to do it together.

I have always marvelled at the Receiver/Manager and people who thought HiTV could be locked up with chains? HiTV is today a force in different companies making or waiting to make a difference.

However, make sure the people you train and inspire do the same to their sub-ordinates. Usually Nigerians are scared to pass knowledge for fear of being replaced and so you have to teach them to let others fly. Reading the 1 Minute Manager meets Mr Monkey taught me not to micro-manage and get people to earn their pay so that I can be free to do the bigger things. The balance to delegation is to make sure there is a system to ensure that those who are working are justly rewarded.

In the absence of a technical foreign partner, we learnt our trade on the job and intensive trainings and we were just implementing our robust researched systems and processes when the company was closed down. How I would have loved to see its results.

Equity Vs Debt
We gambled on building a company with debt with the hope of converting it to equity once we proved the model. As I said earlier, we were impeded from doing this at the right time. At 25-27% interest on debt, most businesses cannot survive and you will be a slave to the banks for life. That is why they take collateral from you. They lend against your collateral not your business case. Regardless of our strong cashflows, the funding requirements continued to increase. Similar businesses in Europe like Sky, Virgin, Polsat etc had worse debt profiles whilst building up their Brands and subscription models but their markets have sophisticated equity and debt.

Unfortunately, we have no sophisticated equity market and I mean Angel investors and/or Venture Capitalist in Nigeria and without that, who can survive? It pains me to admit that someone told the then Minister of Information that Nigerians can’t fund our type of business and I was really hoping to prove him wrong but Alas!

We paid 40 million dollars for the first year of the second term of the EPL from mostly equity. But still had to come up with a guarantee of about 70 million dollars for the latter 2 years and in Nigeria, guarantee requires cash in bank. The alternative bank we were forced to use despite all their assurances and being offered half of the amount by another Bank failed to issue same on that fateful Tuesday and only offered it to us on Thursday. Meanwhile the EPL sold it to our competition on Wednesday morning.

Watch your debt profile. HiTV was paying an average of 1.1billion Naira approximately in interests and guarantee charges annually, for over 5 years! For a new company, we did a damn good job but really got blown out once our house was divided. I never live by debt and so was really ignorant about how interest works up till HiTV and of course since then you wont catch me near it. But what do you do when you have to? They say internationally that “equity is more expensive than debt”, but that is NOT true in Nigeria. Debt is way too expensive and destructive.

At the end of it all I was sued in my personal capacity for the debts of the company by the bank, but we have since sorted out our differences, agreed, signed and filed terms of settlement in all legal actions. The Managing Director simply told me, when we finally met, that since we all owned the company I had to pay out of the liability and not just dump it on them. It made total sense to me and I offered them what I had, they accepted and that was it. Fair is fair. You can’t avoid a lot of skin in the game because investors will be looking for this.

You need Government and regulation on your side
I ignored government to my peril. The competition spent a lot of time courting all arms of government and I was a simpleton. We just expected the whole world to cheer us on. The laws in Nigeria are as empty as they are full. A lot of writings but you have to make sure your business model is adequately protected.

What laws do you need, or what interpretations of the laws do you require, go and get it passed or adjudicated. Don’t assume its there and don’t be afraid of offending anyone. A few weeks before we lost the EPL rights we were approached by the competition to share it with them, in writing. We agreed and were completing the approvals on both sides when we lost the rights. Since they bought it, we asked them for it on the same terms as we had agreed to give it to them just 2 weeks prior, they refused. We ran to government to enforce the fairness clauses of the NBC Act but it fell on deaf ears.

We really should have actively pursued the enactment of anti- monopoly laws and competition rules early enough as exist everywhere else in the world. The truth is we never believed in monopoly and offered all our acquired TV rights to anyone who was ready to share the price with us. Our purchase of football rights was defensive, as that was the only way we could get it. Unfortunately, our government was happy to, as they continue to be, leave everything in the hands of foreign dominant players.

And whatever we were ready to pay for those TV rights was still far less than what Nigeria was losing from the repatriation of profits by the foreign companies operating in the country!

They say Power is not served al a carte, you have to take it forcefully. And if you are going to take it, make sure you succeed! I didn’t, but I am glad I tried. It is the most meaningful, joyful and the greatest thing I have ever embarked on. I can still see the sparkle in the eyes of every true partner of that journey I meet.

In conclusion of HiTV 101, I will say this, our thinking that we were doing the right things and following the patterns of all international Pay TV companies was not enough, we had to successfully domesticate those patterns and that proved difficult. Thankfully, our good intentions and hard work have helped most to get great jobs and new opportunities and challenged foreign companies to do more locally.

Whatever you do, live forward.

Webmasters / Re: 5 Benefits Of .NG Domain Extension - Techinfo by lucarella: 8:13am On Sep 08, 2016
You all need to understand the relationships between domain extensions and content. There is a very fine line in terms of SEO. However, .ng domain extensions are usually (or ought to be) favoured when searching from a nigerian Google extension (google.com.ng). Most times, when websites with .com extensions are ranked higher are usually due to lack of competition with the .com extensions. Remember that Google Search's main aim is to provide the most relevant content to it's audience. So in cases where .ng domains aren't doing so well in terms of content compared to their respective .com domains (with the same keywords and in the same niche), Google will rank .com domains higher.

Sites like vanguard, naij, thisdaylive etc, benefit from Google Search due to their large volume of daily content, but a lot of their visits are actually attributed to direct traffic (i.e A lot of people know these sites and have bookmarked them on their browsers). Domain popularity is high and Google will do the needful. If you get a .ng domain with an equally large volume of relevant content, be sure that Google.com.ng will rank that domain higher than these sites.
That being said, SEO isn't about just domain extensions, relevant content is also very key. Your expensive .ng domains will mean nothing without good content. Remember Google Panda is an algorithm and algorithms follow patterns, not extensions.
Business / Sa’s Sun International Exits Nigeria by lucarella: 3:11pm On Aug 22, 2016
Hotel and gaming group Sun International became the latest South African business to pull out of Nigeria because of weak economic growth and clashes with regulators in the west African country.

In January, Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched a probe into Sun International’s initial investment in the Tourist Company of Nigeria, which owns and operates the 5-star Federal Palace hotel in Lagos.

Sun International, which reported a 20 percent fall in diluted adjusted headline earnings per share (AHEPS) to 628 cents for the year to June, said the Federal Palace had been hit by slow economic growth, the low oil price, the threat from Boko Haram and a weakening naira.

“The board has decided to exit Nigeria and steps will be taken to achieve this in a manner that does not erode further value,” the company said in a statement.

“Continued setbacks in Nigeria as well as the ongoing shareholder dispute have frustrated all attempts to develop and improve the property.”

Sun International is the latest South African company to clash with Nigerian authorities after telecoms group MTN was fined for failing to disconnect users with unregistered SIM cards.

Sun International’s decision to exit Nigeria follows food and clothing retailer Woolworths and Tiger Brand , which sold its loss-making Nigerian division to Dangote Industries.

Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, is suffering its worst financial crisis in decades as a slump in oil revenues hammers public finances and the naira. The central bank governor has said recession is likely.

Shares in Sun International were down 0.7 percent by 0855 GMT.

Reporting its results, the company said poor economic conditions and general negative sentiment in its home market of South Africa resulted in revenue growth at casinos of only 0.8 percent at 7 billion rand ($514.78 million).

“In South Africa, the economic environment remains a serious concern. We do not anticipate any meaningful growth in gaming revenue until there is a recovery in the economy and renewed consumer confidence,” Chief Executive Graeme Stephens said.

The South African Reserve Bank expects economic growth at zero percent this year, due to a severe drought and falling commodity prices.

Freeze is an epitome of failed human mutations.
I even use to think he was a south african sef.

Freeze's mum is Romanian. His dad is a core Ibadan man. Anyone saying the black complexion overrides the white is obviously ignorant.
Business / Re: Overcoming The Nigerian Factor In Your Business by lucarella: 2:19pm On Jun 06, 2016
Oh come on! Let's be honest. OP, If I'm doing all of this, there's no point of being in business. Almost all you've suggested will be achieved by having a huge capital base or liquid cash. The basic reason why Nigerians run businesses is to survive (profit). You're right on one thing, corruption has taken over the country. But if you say that you want to run your business legally without being corrupt, to be honest, your business cannot survive in this terrain. I run a business and I know what I'm talking about.

Properties / 4 Reasons Why Lagos City Mall Is The Best Choice For A Perfect ‘mall Experience by lucarella: 10:57am On Apr 12, 2016
‘Mall visiting’ has been the in-thing for a couple of years now. The successes recorded by various malls as regards shopping in Nigeria have been tremendous. Now, pause for a minute and remember how it all started. I’ll refresh your memory. The Shopping Mall revolution started with the introduction of Lagos City Mall providing the perfect environment for hanging out and shopping. Right now, lots of malls have flooded major business districts across Nigeria.

I’ll be focusing on Lagos City Mall which has fully rebranded to provide the perfect mall experience. Here are some reasons why you should visit Lagos City Mall today:

Movies are Super Cheap: I have noticed a lot of Social Media activity around the Lagos City Mall, Onikan recently, and I decided to check why they have become quite aggressive in their marketing campaigns. I visited Genesis Deluxe Cinemas at the Lagos City Mall (Or LCM as they would prefer it to be called). I noticed that the prices on the brochure for movies were quite cheap compared to other GDC outlets in Lagos. On Mondays – for example, movie tickets were going for as low as N600, without an I.D card. On Tuesday, with a Fidelity bank card, you get to watch movies for N500. How awesome is that?
So, if you are looking to watch movies on a tight budget, the Lagos City Mall could just be your best bet.

Tight Security: I was amazed at the way in which the security guards at Lagos City Mall were always on routine checks around the car parks to make sure that all cars were safe from theft. At this rate, one could park his car and not worry about his valuables or his car getting stolen.

Shopping Variety: It was interesting to know that you could get just about anything based on your budget. I mean, you could visit the TM Lewin shop for some quality shirts at a not-so-expensive price, or if you wanted more quality, there was the Grosvenor shop. The Lagos City Mall had shops for different classes of people.

Hang-out spot: So you just finished from work and you didn’t want to face the traffic going home? There is a bar just beside the car park where you can relax, have some drinks and watch football matches with your friends. The bar is always filled with people during evenings.

Health / World Health Day #beatdiabetes by lucarella: 8:00pm On Apr 07, 2016
Today is World Health Day and the focus is on Diabetes.

Diabetes is a life-long disease characterized by elevated levels of sugar in the blood. In Nigeria, where diabetes was once a rarity, it now affects over 1 million people and this number is rising at an alarming rate.
Why the focus on diabetes?
• Worldwide, the number of people with diabetes has quadrupled since 1980
• Eating habits and physical inactivity are two main reasons behind this rise
• In Africa, 80% of diabetes cases are undiagnosed and therefore untreated and uncontrolled
• Uncontrolled diabetes can be devastating. It is a leading cause of heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and amputation.
The good news is that, it can be prevented. Here are 5 ways to reduce your risk of Diabetes:

Controlling your weight: Excess weight is the main cause of diabetes. People who are overweight or have obesity have added pressure on their body's ability to use insulin to properly control blood sugar levels. Being obese makes you 20 to 40 times more likely to develop diabetes than someone with a healthy weight. Regular early morning jogging and fitness trainings could help maintain a healthy weight.

Be active:
Working your muscles more often and making them work harder improves their ability to use insulin and absorb glucose. Findings from the Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-up Study suggest that walking briskly for a half hour every day reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 30%.

Avoid Tobacco: Smokers are roughly 50 percent more likely to develop diabetes than nonsmokers, and heavy smokers have an even higher risk. Avoid it if you can.

Diet: If you are used to taking lots of carbohydrates, now is the best time to reduce that and concentrate on fruits and vegetables. These help in maintaining your ideal weight and also reduce or risk of diabetes.
Regular Check-ups: Always visit a doctor for regular check-ups to detect early symptoms of diseases that could trigger diabetes.

TheGoodJoe:

Do I feel Coach Oliseh was sabotaged? Yes. I believe the NFF fixed Kaduna as the venue for the first game against Egypt to sabotage Coach Oliseh. The Coach cried against the venue but the NFF members refused.

What I pointed out was we can not say Coach Oliseh was on course to qualify. The Tanzania score line tells that it was not a guaranteed qualification Under Oliseh
.

Oh! I understand where you are coming from. It really wasn't a guaranteed qualification. However, I strongly feel he would have got us qualified.

TheGoodJoe:

How was Coach Oliseh on course, is it by drawing with Tanzania? If Coach Oliseh could not beat Tanzania, is it Egypt he will beat?

He didn't beat Tanzania, but how would you have known that he wouldn't beat Egypt. Football isn't Mathematics. Continuity and persistence is key. It was silly to put him under immense pressure when Nigeria had not gotten to a stage where they were dependent on mathematical calculations to qualify. Oliseh was on the hot seat from the beginning of his tenure till the end and it was caused by Nigerians. This affected his performance on the pitch.

It serves all you Nigerian supporters right! When Oliseh was on course to qualifying the nation for AFCON, everybody criticised him for his approach. No one understood that, even as arrogant and seemingly inexperienced he was, what the Nigerian team is currenty lacking is discipline. He had to take some weird but strong decisions.
Now he's out and you have brought Siasia in. No one wants to criticise Siasia for not qualifying Nigeria for AFCON. If anyone tells me that Nigerian played well, that person is high on 'weed'.
If playing long balls to strikers (in the midst of defenders) to bring down and start an attack is a god tactic, you need to have your head examined. The wingers were non-existent. I mean! No run-ins.. Wingers would have provided that bite. We wanted to break into a crowded centralized defence. SHAME! No creativity. Mikel is useless! I'm sorry.

Anyways, I stopped supporting Nigerian football long ago. Iheanacho wouldn't have done shit! There's a fundamental problem with tactics and discipline. No hunger, No zeal!
