I only asked him if he can let me rent his ride for the weekend.

Can you tell me what rule I broke by asking him if it would possible to rent his ride for the weekend?

If that is the only issue then just re edit the post and post the right one together with my pictures.

TravelRe: Abandoning Nigeria's Good Life For The Us,its A Blessing If.... by LUCAS99:
[quote author=Goldenboy007 post=56774987]There are so much myths and hearsay you get from people before coming into US, even some so called long residents of US still pass down this false information to new immigrants. One important issue is how to build your Credit Score. A Credit Score is like your Credit Standing or Ratings or Worthiness which determines your ability to get credit facilities in the US. For example it is considered when renting apartment or buying house, getting car loans, personal loans, bank credit cards, store cards, reward cards, Cable/ Internet Services,Getting Utilities,Cellular Services and other financial facilities, in fact your Credit Scores is like your life.

US economy runs on credit unlike Nigeria where most transactions are cash basis, and when you ruin your credit score you "may" become financially useless except you start running everything on cash. Normally when you get into US you have low Credit Score because you do not have a Credit history. Your Credit Score is typical based on number of credit facilities you have, your payment performance and number of years of credit history. it could range from 300 to 850, the higher the better.
Someone once said - "if you want to hide anything from a black man put it in a book". People are too lazy to investigate or research any information given to them, they find it easier listening to second-hand information. When I got into US, people passed down a lot of information, 80% were false, if you are not careful you would be misled. One of the information is about the Credit Score - They told me to go apply for many credit cards and owe debts. Some people will come to US and start accruing credit card debts, they will get Store credit cards, buy everything on credit, buy things they do not need, clothes, shoes, gadgets, furniture, etc. They will opt out for minimum payment, what they pay monthly is not enough to cover the interest accruing on their debt monthly so the debt begins to accumulate. Some people will never have any savings because they will pay debts for the rest of their lives. They will now start living from one paycheck to another paycheck, then they will say "you are one paycheck to being homeless". Sabi yourself no be abuse.

When I just got into the US I applied for Bank of America Credit Card - They told me to go bring my grand mother's right hand, pay fees and deposits and I should wait a long time for approval, I told them to shove it up their behind. When I got a job, my salary account was with the bank - When my savings hit the $10,000 mark, they started begging me to come collect their credit card free of charge- No deposit !!!! they approved me in 10 mins online. I have rules for using Credit Cards - I don't buy anything on credit if I do not have the cash in hand. So when I buy on credit, I pay everything back before it hits month end cycle, I do not have minimum payment. I got a second card from Chase Bank through Amazon and I applied same principle. My credit score is close to 800.

Do not acquire debts in US, you are simply planning your visa back home. To be continued - Buying cars, mortgage etc. Also ask me any question or guidelines on living in US.

My Question is regarding Credit Cards.

I am 23 year old College Student living in the United States. I maintain a Checking Account with Bank of America with about $8000 in savings. I have been building my credit score since February 2016. I applied for and was approved for the BankAmericard Visa Platinum Plus Credit card with a credit limit of about $2000. I continued using my Bank of America Credit Card until February 2017 when I applied for and was approved for the BB&T Bright Credit Card with a credit limit of about $1000.

As of May 2017 my credit score are as follows: 720 VantageScore by Equifax & 735 FicoScore by TransUnion and 742 FICO Score 8 by Experian.

I believe that my Credit Limit is low compared to my Credit Score. I do know people qualify for credit Limit of $10000 upwards

My questions are as follows:

(A) How do I increase my Credit Score to the 800-850 range without hurting my credit score badly.
I noticed that the last time I applied for a New Credit Card my Credit Score dropped almost 30 points since the bank had to perform a hard inquiry on my Credit Report. It took me months before my Credit Score could come back up.

(B) Do you know of any Credit Cards in particular that offer high credit limit of $10000-$20000 that I can apply and be qualified for with my Credit Score. I do receive credit card offers from Chase, Discover and American Express. But I'm confused as to which one will offer me the high Credit Limit I'm seeking for

Be happy friend.

Let me tell you a story. When I was applying to PA school, I applied to about 12 or 13. Finance and time prevented me from applying to all my targeted 15 programs. One by one they started sending me application rejection letter. I didnt even make it to the interview stage. It was discouraging that I received such massive rejections after what I have invested into the PA school hunt. I invested money for applications (about $2700), for the 2 semesters of prereqs at hunter college (about $8000) and for reducing my hours at work to accommodate the prereqs; time on prereqs (2 semesters), community services (1+ yr and still counting), acquiring healthcare experience (1.5 yrs), shadowing doctors (3 months) and given up on taking biochem route; emotional stress. GboyegaD called me around that time and had to encourage me because I was depressed. My worry was that programs are discriminating and selective about nationality, where undergrad was obtained and age of prereqs... This is actually correct.

The day I received my first interview invitation, I had a great conviction that at least my application qualifies for admission somewhere. At the interview there was only 3 black guys among 36 applicants in group A that day. The remaining were all whites. The program interviewed 36 applicants x 2 groups per day x 3 days for just 40 seats in the program. After the interview I was discouraged again, I know I did my best at the oral part of the interview but I was haunted by my thoughts whenever I remember that I didn't finish my writing part because I was trying to stand out (to be perfect) and forgot to look at the back of the questionnaire for more questions.

One month after this interview, I received an invitation from a second school in KY which was scheduled for Jan 10, 2017. I was gearing up for the interview when I received an admission letter from the first school on Dec 25. I feel elated and butterflies filled my stomach to the extent that I couldn't take it and started feeling nauseous and couldn't eat that night. 5 days later I told KY to give my slot out to another applicant. A week later I received the third interview invitation from another program and guess what, I forgot to decline the invitation.

Long story short, when I look back at all this, my mind goes back to my 2 years old nairaland signature that says 'All my life, I had always finished the race'. No one says there won't be rejection(s) but this is not until you find the one looking for you.

Winners don't quit.
Hi imperiouxx hope you are doing fine. Did you get my messages? I lost my phone and I have been trying to get in contact with you ever since. Please try and get back to me whenever you can

It's because this thread is a serious one, I almost doubted when u mentioned family. Is that possible? Well if your statement is true, what exactly have u done wrong for people to abandon you. Are you positive? Do you love yourself? Are you confident? You may not always speak up, but introverts too need to speak up to defend themselves. Do you hide things to yourself when you are supposed to let it out. Please let it out so it doesn't become an ache. Introverts are calm and speak with wisdom if it's necessary.
I am not assertive. People now regard me as dumb.I am 23 years old and I can't even speak clearly. Please if you can assist me add me on 7047139964

Reinstatement Procedure https://iss.washington.edu/procedures/reinstatement-reentry

When requesting reinstatement, you must establish to the satisfaction of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that you:
• Have not been out of status more than 5 months at the time of filing the request for reinstatement (or demonstrate that the failure to file within the 5-month period was the result of exceptional circumstances and that you filed for reinstatement as soon as possible under these circumstances).
• Do not have a record of repeated or willful violations of immigration regulations.
• Are currently pursuing, or intending to pursue, a full course of study in the immediate future at the school which issued the Form I-20.
• Have not engaged in unauthorized employment.
• Are not deportable on any ground other than overstaying or failing to maintain status.

You must also establish that:
• The violation of status resulted from circumstances beyond your control. Such circumstances might include serious injury or illness, a natural disaster, or inadvertence, oversight, or neglect on the part of your ISS adviser, but do not include instances where a pattern of repeated violations or a willful failure on your part resulted in the need for reinstatement.

or
• The violation relates to a reduction in your course load that would have been within the international student adviser's authority to authorize, and that failure to approve reinstatement would result in extreme hardship to you.

If USCIS approves the reinstatement request, the adjudicating officer will endorse your I-20 to indicate that you have been reinstated and will return the I-20 to you. If USCIS does not approve the reinstatement request, you may not appeal the decision and need to prepare to leave the U.S. immediately.

**************************https://iss.washington.edu/procedures/reinstatement-reentry**************************************

In your case, you may be able to demonstrate that the failure to file within the 5-month period was the result of exceptional circumstances (e.g your mental issues if documented, USCIS will even be happy you didn't go to their schools and start shooting people) and that you filed for reinstatement as soon as possible under these circumstances (e.g when you are now stable and can think straight). It's all about packaging, you just have to make sure you have verifiable documents or doctor's report stating this.
Can we talk on phone about this issues. I have a lot of pressing questions?

Lucas

First, let me tell you that you are one of the very few and lucky F-1 students in America. In case you don't know, there are thousands of people who have fallen out of status right from the first day they came in to America. You have a cashier's job that is putting food on the table and you are complaining? You are able to save $8k within 6 months from your job and you don't count yourself lucky? See, I am not one to sugar coat things for you. I don't know who your friends are but if you have one, they should tell you that you are balling? How many people in America can save up to $2000 in a year? If you have anyone telling you that you are useless in America, please delete that person's contact from your phone and block him or her for life.

That being said, you are not the first and you won't be the last to drop from school - that is not the end of life. You asked for help in writing a reinstatement letter from NL and didn't find help and you decided not to pursue it because of indecision and wrong advices? Who are those advisers? Mind sharing what they advised you to do? It appears to me that you caused this yourself.

For you to be able to compose on Nairaland, I put it to you that you can still think and know what is going on with your life. The issue with you is anxiety and fear of the unknown. Learn to control yourself and take your mind off it. I also see that you have refused to tell us your relationship with your 4 siblings in America, what have they done to help? Are they all tired of you? They all told you to go back to Nigeria? Anyway, here are the options you have presently;

- Do everything within your power to keep your present job

- Go and marry a U.S citizen who you truly love and start a family

- Wait for your pending immigration filings to be approved

Good luck
@Ojap is it advisable to apply for reinstatement after being out of status since January.

@ LUCAS99

I've met lot of people from here that initially came to US as students but immediately registered their names as undocumented immigrants from the day 1. They are walking on the street happy even though they have their predicament. No one told you reinstatement happens within short time or your school won't get pissed at you. You will definitely find another schools that will take you after the reinstatement, but now you started acting funny.

The part that bemused me is psychosis, depression and suicidal behaviors....... what a bad combination on your medical record (though protected hipaa). Hey you're from Nigeria, you were born and raised to be tough. You should have told them your problem is not psychosis but paper related. They should have given you paper and see your problems gone within the next minute.

Your situation shouldn't have led you to "Risperdal" of all medications. I would believe you don't have family history of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, correct me if I'm wrong. Being on long term Risperdal not only messes with your brain but also your hormones, don't be surprised if you have a erectile dysfunction (you're just looking a girl in the face) or gynecomastia (you show up one day with succulent b.reasts).

Let me know when you're online, I will refer you to my wife who's an extern psychiatrist in psychiatry hospital. As a student, she has handled some cases of psychosis, depression and suicidal, I believe she would be able to counsel you just for favor.

Best!
Please my case is quite complicated. Do you mind if we speak offline. Right now I'm involuntarily committed to the psychiatry hospital as an outpatient.
