CelebritiesChacha Eke’s Outburst: How Drugs Intake, Hardship, Allegedly Caused It by Luckydubby7(op): 3:34pm On Oct 10, 2020
Report has claimed that hardship and drugs intake has caused the recent outburst of popular Nollywood actress, Chacha Eke.

This is coming after the popular Nolly wood actress took to social media to cry out about her marriage.

The Ebonyi state born mother of three shared a video on her Instagram page, revealing she’s tired of her 7 years old marriage to Nollywood director, Austin Faani and wants to move on.

Chacha’s brother, Aik Eke, later took to social media to claim her marriage didn’t suffer domestic violence after the news spread like wildfire.

She also did a video of herself lying in a hospital bed, claiming she has been diagnosed of bipolar disorder.

Many Nigerians rubbished the claim, branded her a liar, and called out her husband for being the mastermind behind the video.

Furthermore, Aik Eke took to his Instagram page to blast her husband, Austin, claiming he forced Chacha to do the video in order to save his name.

Kemi Filani News has alleged that Chacha Eke’s outburst was a result of the alleged consumption of drugs.

The source close to the couple alleged that the actress was introduced into taking weed and other drugs by the husband and whenever she’s not “high” she breaks down which is allegedly the cause of her outburst.

The source further alleged that the couple has gone broke due to their new lifestyle and Chacha who is like the breadwinner of the home could not take it any longer.

“Who doesn’t know Chacha’s weed and drug story in Asaba? She needs to be taken for rehab as she is in a very bad state now. The couple is currently in so much debt of which most of the money is believed to have gone into their drug lifestyle. She is currently being “treated” by Austin’s doctor friend but trust me, she needs to be in a rehab Center.

Apparently, she is frustrated whenever she isn’t high on drugs and bears her truth during such moments. I believe she wasn’t high on the day she came on SM to tell the world she is done. He introduced her to it, that’s why her brother called him out. Even the family knows.

PoliticsOkunbo Flays Gloating Over His Ill Health by Luckydubby7(op): 8:54pm On Oct 07, 2020
A billionaire entrepreneur, Capt. Hosa Okunbo (retd.), has described as ungodly the alleged gloating over his ill health by some people, especially on the social media.

Okunbo, who hails from Benin, the Edo State capital, and backed the state’s governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, expressed his sadness in a statement he personally signed.

The businessman said he never claimed to be a super human being.

My attention has been drawn to a rash of social media posts concerning my health and the inhuman manner in which it is being orchestrated to look as if it was as a result of the outcome of the September 19, 2020 Edo State governorship election, in which I publicly supported Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

“It is evidently ungodly for people to gloat over the fact that I am not feeling well. God does not approve of such disposition and those who engage in that pastime are only mocking and playing God.

“I have never claimed to be a super human being. I do not deny the fact that I am not well. I am outside the country for my medicals, which were delayed because of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. After a series of tests, my doctors confirmed that I have some health issues.

“It is, therefore, ill-advised and inhuman for those who are not comfortable with the position I took in the Edo State’s governorship election to joyfully circulate in the social media that I have health issues and that I have slid into coma. Well, I leave them all to God.

“I am over 60 years. I thank God who gave me the gift of life, an opportunity to live a good life, the grace to build a legacy of achievements and, most importantly, a good name, which is better than silver and gold.”

The philanthropist added that he had been holding dearly to his heart the words of the scriptures that there is a time to be born and a time to die.

According to him, what is most important in life is what an individual does with his/her life.

He said: “The Edo State election, which is the reason they are doing this, has come and gone. Those who are opposed to me for taking a position in the election, which they won, should leave me alone and get busy with their lives.

“I have moved on with life. I advise them to do the same, instead of dwelling in the past. Nevertheless, I wish them well in all they do.”

• Nigeria’s debt fast becoming unsustainable, may reach N34tn, LCCI warns
• Economic advisory council parades the best 11 economists – Presidency
Our Correspondents

The Nigerian Economic Society on Tuesday berated the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over its handling of the economy, which it said was directionless and unstable.

The President of the NES, Prof Sarah Anyanwu, who stated this when she led members of the society on a visit to the Senate Minority Caucus, lamented that Buhari’s regime excluded economists from its economic management team.

According to her, because of the exclusion of economists from the team, the economy is nose-diving.

She noted that members of the NES were in the past included in the economic management team for the required professional advice and guidance on whatever economic policy the Federal Government adopted.

She said, “The practice assisted past governments in making sound economic policies required by circumstances or situations on ground.

“However, the exclusion of economists from the National Economic Management Team under the present administration has glaringly shown in the adverse effects on the economy, which those who can read the indices and indicators correctly, can see is nose-diving .

“Our exclusion from the NEMT is seriously making the nation’s economy to be unstable and somewhat directionless.”

Apart from being excluded from the NEMT, the NES president lamented that the various ministries, departments and agencies were not patronising members of the society for required expertise and capacity training of their staff.

She, however, urged the National Assembly to expedite actions on consideration and prompt passage of the bill which NES forwarded to both chambers early in the year.

The Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, in his response, said he was not surprised by the parlous state of the nation’s economy since those managing it had little or no knowledge on how to make it vibrant.

Abaribe said, “We are not surprised that the economy went into recession and moving towards that direction again, since as disclosed here, required knowledge from the experts is not being sought by the government”

He, however, assured the NES members that their bill, already before both chambers of the National Assembly, would be considered.

Presidential economic advisory council parades the best 11 economists – Presidency

But the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in an interview with one of our correspondents, said contrary to what the group wanted Nigerians to believe, the Presidential Economic Advisory Council consisted of the best 11 economists in the country.

Shehu said the group, probably in its assessment, was mistakenly referring to the former economic management team which had since been dissolved and replaced with the Economic Advisory Council chaired by Prof Doyin Salami.

The presidential spokesman said as far as the economy was concerned, Salami, a 1989 doctoral degree graduate in Economics from Queen Mary College, University of London, needed no introduction.

He added that another member of the advisory council, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, is not only a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, but also a former Economic Adviser to the President.

According to Shehu, another member of the team is the Chief Economic Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo while another one is an economist with the International Monetary Fund.

Speaking further, the presidential aide said another member of the team, Shehu Yahaya, was the Chairman of the Development Bank of Nigeria, while another member, Bismack Rewane, wad a globallly respected economist.

He added that the team’s secretary was brought in from the Islamic Development Bank.

Shehu said, “Members of the council include Prof Doyin Salami, who is the chairman, Dr Mohammed Sagagi, who is the vice-chairman; Prof Ode Ojowu; Dr Shehu Yahaya and Dr Iyabo Masha.

“Others are former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Prof Chukwuma Soludo; Chief Executive Officer of Financial Derivatives, Dr Bismack Rewane; and Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu.

“You can see from the above that this government has the best team and members are working day and night with the President.

“They are not making noise on television because they are working with the President.

“You said the group claimed that the economy is nosediving. Is there any economy, from the United States to the United Kingdom, that did not nosedive during this COVID-19 pandemic?

“I make bold to say that this team has the best 11 economists as its members.”

But backing the NES, a former President of the group, Prof Akin Iwayemi, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, noted that in the past, there was an economic management team, adding that the president of the NES was a member of the team.

He said the team, which included some governors, ministers, the central bank and private sector players, engaged in “robust discussions on economic affairs.

“Then there was stronger rapport with the economists. If you exclude them, the nation will suffer. We need to have all hands on deck to deal with the challenges we are facing now. We need both the executive and the legislature to understand that economists are partners in progress.”

Nigeria in dire need of leaders with requisite capacities – YIGA Africa

Also, Director of Programes, YIAGA Africa, Cynthia Mbamalu, in an interview with The PUNCH, said, “Quality leadership in any field or issue is best delivered when there are capacities and competencies especially on important issues like Nigeria’s economy.

“Professional bodies serve as a hub of experts from respective professions. While that does not guarantee capacity to lead in that field or on that subject matter, it is also important for the government to recognise the value they bring and ensure some level of inclusion.”

She said Nigeria was in dire need of leaders or decision-makers who had the requisite capacities and competencies “to perform required the arduous task of reviving our economy. “

But Director of Centre for Democracy and Development, Idayat Hassan, in a chat with The PUNCH, disagreed with NES.

She stated, “The (government economic) team comprises the creme de la creme of Nigeria. Most of them are even avowed critics of the administration. It takes gut for Buhari to have selected such erudite experts.

“The question we should ask is if they are really performing the task they have been appointed, while inclusion is welcome and asking for a seat at the table is a welcome development.”

PoliticsAPC Has Performed More Than Critics – Malami by Luckydubby7(op): 8:59pm On Oct 02, 2020
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has performed more than its critics.

He said members of the governing party should be proud of the administration for the milestone achievements recorded so far.

Malami spoke when he hosted members of the Integrity Group of the Non-National Working Committee of the National Executive Committee (Non-NWC NEC) of the ruling party in his of in Abuja.

The administration has been under attacks due to challenges occasioned by global economic recession, insecurity, poverty, corruption and lack of infrastructural provisions.

But Malami said: “Our party has not done too badly. We have great and good stories to tell and that can be established factually and not out of mere rethorics.

“When you talk of empowerment we have not done too badly, we have established the fact that we have done unprecedentedly well as far as empowerment and social investments are concerned.

“When in 2018 we had course to recover about $322 million from Switzerland, Mr. President committed himself to supporting those that are less privileged and those that are indigent with the fund. We have in place N-power programme, which indeed constituted the source of support for the unemployed graduates.

“We have in place school feeding program which was targeted at providing meals for the pupils at the primary and perhaps secondary schools level.

“We had trader money and the success of the programme had indeed now snowballed into what we have today related to 774 local government employment scheme and among others.

So, if you are talking of direct impact of this government in improving the welfare, wellbeing and making provision for the less privileged members of the society, I think the trader money, N-power, the school feeding programme, taking 100 million people out of poverty and in fact even the agricultural policies of the government had indeed proven important tools for employment generation.

“This is a government that inherited a massive unemployment in the polity, a government that inherited actions by which people are deprived of the means of their livelihood.

“In terms of infrastructures, this government has done much as well. This government has completed the projects that were there in the last 16 years ago; that were budgeted for year in year out without any meaningful progress.”

The Minister described the nation’s insecurity as superficial. “If you talk of security, notwithstanding the noise that they make all over the place that we have not succeeded, there is no justification to that allegation made by the opposition.

“This is a government that came at a time when indeed about 17 local governments across the nation were in the hands of the Boko Haram.

“This government has succeeded in reclaiming the territories. Not only reclaiming the territories in question but this is a government that came into place at a time when Boko Haram could travel right from Sambisa down to Kano cause lots of deaths and destruction of properties.”

PoliticsIndependence: Facts Don’t Lie, Atiku Replies Buhari On Performance by Luckydubby7(op): 6:29pm On Oct 02, 2020
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has advised the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and his regime to stick to facts when criticising previous administrations.

In an apparent response to Buhari’s 60th Independence anniversary speech on October 1, Atiku defended economic decisions taken by the President Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration in which he served as a Vice President.

In a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, @atiku, on Friday, the former Vice President wrote, “Between 1999 and 2007, Nigeria paid off her entire foreign debt while maintaining an unprecedented six per cent annual GDP growth.

“Those were periods of national restoration, and I am very proud of the work President Obasanjo and I did for this nation we care so much for. Facts don’t lie.”

Buhari had in his Independence Day anniversary nationwide address singled out Peoples Democratic Party administrations beginning from Obasanjo’s in 1999 up to that of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, of presiding over the near destruction of Nigeria.

According to the president, none of his predecessors achieved what his regime was currently achieving with the “scarce resources” available.

The president had said, “No government in the past did what we are doing with such scarce resources. We have managed to keep things going in spite of the disproportionate spending on security.

“Those in the previous governments from 1999 to 2015, who presided over the near destruction of the country have now the impudence to attempt to criticise our efforts. In the circumstances, a responsible government must face realities and take tough decisions.”

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the late President Umaru Yar’adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan were in charge of the country during the period referenced by Buhari.
