First of all, I need to dust the cobwebs off this account. This account reminds me of a time in my life where I used to be super active on Nairaland! It feels like forever! Life has seriously taken me on a wild ride, and posting generally fell to the side. Anyways, I wanted to document my first had experience of my trips to New Jersey first then New York.

So, I have been in the US for almost 4 years now and have never visited New York. I have had multiple opportunities to go but I kept declining and waiting for the perfect time. The timing is still not perfect, but, I will make it work this time.

The main purpose of my trip is to attend a friend's wedding in New Jersey, but, since New York is right next door, I will also be visiting. Y'all come with me to break in this new city.

I am currently at work and have 2 more hours left before I have to go to my flight, but, my mind soul is not at work at all. I am spiritually gone, just waiting for the time to count down and so super excited!

How is the bank responsible for the loss of your phone and the loss of your Bvn that led to the loss of your money?

If you request the information on the account it was transferred to, it will be given to you readily. The bank's part is to ensure that nothing happens to your account from their own end.

I know you are panicking. Think it through. What account would he have used to report you? Remember he didn't know anything about upwork. How could he have opened an account yesterday night, verified it and reported you and upwork then suspended you all in that one night! It's just unfortunate it happened coincidentally like that.

For Upwork to suspend you that night means that they got the report earlier, reviewed it and suspended you. They just don't wake up and suspend. They must have taken some time to review it

See how you jumped into conclusions. The minute you are not using your real name or location, you stand a risk of being exposed at any time. And how can a new account report you and run you down? Especially if you have all the reviews you say you have. Re-strategize and try again.

I applaud your post because you made very salient points.

However, I have reservations about your view of the banks. There is no investment without savings and the bank helps you do that. They even provide a relatively risk free investment option hence the low return rate. Banks are not charity organizations and would definitely collect charges. I am sure you also collect charges too.

Banks are listed in the stock exchange and are funded by their shareholders. As a way to reward the shareholders, they pay out dividends (a part of their profit, after removing expenses).

Before these dividends are paid, a bank also removes some part of its net profit and put it in their reserves. This is to ensure that if there is any loss, the banks can recover from it. Just like your normal savings.

Apparently, some banks are using a large percentage of their profits to pay out dividends or dipping it's hands into its reserves. You won't use your savings to buy human hair to satisfy your friends right?

Now, there is a capital adequacy ratio and this means that all banks must have a certain amount of capital with the CBN to operate in Nigeria. I think it is currently 50 billion naira. This is also another shock absorber reserve.

There is also the composite risk rating which places banks into different categories depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

The NPL is the non performing loan ratio which considers the number of loans that the bank gives that are not being repaid. If you give out 80% of your money on loan and people are not repaying, you shouldn't be giving out loans at all.

CBN is simply saying that you should pay out dividends according to your capital and risk profile.

This is as far as I can understand. I hope it makes sense.
