People like you prefer we remain under Jonathan in Hopelessness. No we won't. The question of Buhari's strong character is a subject of another debate, but the issue is what do we need for a radical breaj away from present day Nigeria? Nigeria requires more than personal endowement or individual embodiments to survive, we need thorough shake up. Buhari or not, we will still have same of same if we continue like this until we RESTRUCTURE. |

egift: @Bold: As I stated, the only solution is a leadership that will effect the changes we desire. With a leadership that has the political will to do what is needed, the institutions and others can be strengthened.
In this 2015 General Elections, in choosing the next President of Nigeria who will correct our present predicament, the quote below is very important.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein
President Jonathan has failed in tackling the Fundamental problems of this Nation, it is time to turn a new leaf. God bless Nigeria. You keep on harping on the INDIVIDUAL - Buhari, who will come with a magic wand, and all things will be well without taking into consideriation of the complex nature of Nigeria. Like you said, insanity is hoping on same 'individual' to come rescue Nigeria like we have been doing since 1914....& the result has been same till today. For once, let us try a different approach, RESTRUCTURING, & we have the confab report for a start. |

Did you not hear when he said he will be working with the National Assembly to provide all the legal inputs needed. I must also point out that our problem in Nigeria has never been legislation BUT the political will to enforce our laws as it should. Currently even case that makes it to the court are not backed with enough evidence to secure convictions. In no time we see criminals walk away because of backyard deals.
In Nigeria, we have only one problem - it is Leadership. The Buhari/Osinbajo ticket avails us that needed solution. In Buhari's administration, PDP as the Opposition Party will be following them bomber-2-bomber in order to keep them on their toes. But re-electing Jonathan is an endorsement to continue the mess we are in.
The choice is ours. I will vote for Change. Let us not play the ostrich because of partisan political inclinations. We both know Nigeria's problem is lack of strong , independent institutions, including the judiciary & no Nigerian politician will encourage that so as not to diminish their political influence in power. Nigeria operates one of the weakest criminal laws in the world (google is your friend) & that is a function of legislation which our legislators (like Farouk Lawan & Herman Hembe) are part of will never pass laws that will conflict with their wealth amassing interest in power & that will bring us to the only possible solution to our multipe problems, RESTRUCTURING & not this so called "change" being chanted meaninglessly. The implementatuon of the outcome of the just concluded confab represents Nigeria's only chance of radical departure from our past unto a better tommorow. |

Old cases of corruption is expected to be prosecuted with renewed vigor. But the primary goal is to ensure that perpetrated rampantly again in Nigeria. maddock: First of all I must commend you on your mature response. But am not in any saying that it is right to do have burnt even if it's just one bus. But my point is that news like this could cause a very big problem for us. If you take a look at the reaction to this issue, if nairaland were to be a physical place I dare say houses or cars belonging to APC would also have torched. The matter have not been investigated and APC found culpable, but everybody is already fingering APC. Just because an onlooker said he say the campaign rally of APC. Let's be wise and don't allow politicians to use to destroy ourselves after ensuring their wards are safely in abroad. Thanks for the commendation. But i make bold to say that the day this happened was the day APC held it's rally in Surulere & the party thugs who were returning from the rally, dressed in APC vests did this. I say so because i have been there & heard what happened from.witnesses. I do not support nor encourage reprisals, no that would be foolish, but let us call a spade a spade, the language of APC leaders has always been violence inclined & we should discourage & condemn any form of violence & it's perpetrators. |

maddock: Am really short of words, see the way lot of us here are played emotionally. I dare say if nairaland were to be a physical gathering of people 90percent would have gone on reprisal attacks. But truth need be told, someone asked a very important question or made an Important observation..
25 buses burnt? How can 25 buses be burnt at a go when the situation is not that of a demonstration or even. war. According to the report explosive like object was tossed into the premises and for 25 vehicles to be burnt just like that, it means the explosive must either be planted in the premises or being thrown continously. Taking a look at this statement "An employee of the transport company, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent, that the damage could have been worse if not for the quick intervention of some employees of the company who sprang into action to salvage the situation when they noticed the fire" They noticed the fire but I thought explosive was tossed into the company premises? Even the staff that spoke was under the condition of anonymity. Are they telling us for a company that just lost 25 buses, it's CEO, MD or PR Manager can not issue an official statement?
This stories doesn't really add up and it is just a way of pitching us against ourselves and that is exactly what is happening. If we can not reason out issues and think rationally, then how in the hell are we different from those killing in the guise of getting 7 virgins in heaven. There is a difference between sentiments & reasoning. Sentiments rationalises the realities & reasoning weighs the facts as presented. You saw the pictures of the burnt buses, packed within the premises of the Chisco company, under the bridge at Costain where they are located & the only thing that did not 'add up' to you was the number of buses burnt & that the CEO did not speak. The reporter who went there, like i did, told us what happened & extent of the damage & instead of you to condemn the despicable act, sentiments pushed you into querrying extent. That was wrong, condemn what APC thugs did, that's all. |
