Manual transmission is easier to maintain than auto, you may not change fluid in manual tranny for 10years and it won't disappoint.

As for safer, non surpasses the other if you miscalculate while driving whether manual or auto, you will pay for it.

Some manufacturers cars have been touted to be better in manual {Peugeot, Nissan murano, quest} than auto or cvt.

I like manual because it's easier to
1. Apply engine brake quickly incase of emergency than automatic.
2. Utilize a power band to achieve a feat. Imagine overtaking a trailer uphill, you can leave the gear in 3 for manual and utilize the power but auto will shift higher or can even downshift if engine power isn't enough.
3. Start car with low voltage battery

And in case of brake failures, you can downshift to reduce speed drastically.

I have a Nissan pathfinder V6 engine that needs some work.
The baba driving filled the radiator, ( hoping to travel).
While on the journey, vehicle began overheating. Baba stopped and opened the bonnet, then discovered he forgot to cover the radiator. After waiting for some time for engine to cool, he refills with bag of pure water. Journey continued but vehicle couldn't move as fast and needed regular radiator refilling. Suspecting gasket damage, he decided to return home and visit the mechanic.
Mechanic opened up engine to work and resealed after work but had problems with timing setting.

That's the story as I know it so far.
I told Baba that Gazzuzz would do a better job, checking that the engine was done right (or not) and fixing any issues.

Retire the baba and get a younger driver, imagine losing an engine just because baba forgot to cover radiator, old age comes with it's own baggage, ask uncle Buhari

Change the ATF first with 4 litres of DW1, clean out the gear solenoid and do a scan to determine if either your gear 2 and 3 switch is faulty.
