Politics / How 72-yr-old Dutch Lost N40.6m To A Nigeria Guy by LUVTB(m): 10:39am On Sep 05, 2014
The suspect, who is a native of Owu Local Government Area of Ogun State, was said to have met his victim, identified simply as Jeanet De Jonge, on Netlog dating site and pretended to be a 41-year-old American citizen working as a chef in a Nigerian restaurant and needs a wife.
Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, while confirming the report, told Vanguard that the suspect’s profile actually attracted Jeanet and she eventually began sending him money through Western Union and Money Gram.
He further disclosed that the suspect collected various sums on the pretext that he was going to use the money to perfect his travel plans and obtain the required documents that would enable him travel to Holland to join or visit Jeanet. But his inability or refusal to honour the invitation from Jeanet prompted her to write a petition to the EFCC.
Sources at the EFCC told Vanguard that operatives of the anti-graft agency used information provided by the victim in her petition to track and apprehend the suspect.
Meanwhile, the suspect in his confessional statement said: “She was sending me money monthly, ranging from $800 to $900 from June 2012, through Western Union Money transfer and Money Gram to the extent that Western Union blocked her access.
“So, she requested that I should go to London to enable her send more money there. I contacted a friend in London called Osas Odiah, who was supposed to receive the money and dispatch same to me in Nigeria.
“She first sent €2,000 to my friend’s account in London and he didn’t remit the money to me. I later opened a Keystone Bank Forex Trade account through which she sent me money.”

Health / Another Ebola death in Port Harcourt by LUVTB(m): 7:08pm On Sep 03, 2014
Nigeria on Wednesday announced that a seventh person had died from Ebola and another person was confirmed as having the virus.
The latest death was a patient at the isolation ward in the oil city of Port Harcourt, where a doctor died on August 22 after treating a Liberian man who had brought the disease into the country.
The other five deaths were in the financial capital, Lagos. Four were healthcare workers who had treated the Liberian, who also died.
Health ministry spokesman Dan Nwomeh said 18 people, including the deceased, had now been confirmed as having the virus in Nigeria — 14 in Lagos and four in Port Harcourt, 435 kilometres (270 miles) away.
The wife of the Port Harcourt doctor who died was being treated at an isolation unit in Lagos, while another case was in a quarantine facility in the oil industry hub.
Eight people who contracted the virus have been successfully treated and discharged, Nwomeh said in a series of statements on Twitter. A ninth person, who infected the Port Harcourt doctor, also recovered.
A total of 41 people were under surveillance in Lagos and 255 in Port Harcourt. And 320 people have been discharged in Lagos after being under surveillance for 21 days — the virus’ incubation period.

Politics / How I Slaughtered Yoruba Leader In Kano by LUVTB(m): 12:43pm On Aug 28, 2014
KANO — A 26-year-old man, Abubakar Abdulrahman, now cooling his heels at Bompai Police Headquarters in respect of the death of a prominent Yoruba leader in Kano, Chief Ganiyu Akanbi, aged 84, last July, yesterday painted a gory picture of how he gruesomely stabbed the former octogenarian to death.
Speaking while being paraded, the suspect said: “I was forced to move against him when it became evident that he would recognise me, since he was my boss.”
The murder of the prominent Kano-based Ibadan businessman shook the Yoruba community in Kano when it occurred on July 5 .
“I was not under influence of alcohol but principally wanted to steal money because I needed money. I had no option than to kill my former boss with a knife because he dismissed me from service some years back,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Commissioner of Police Aderenle Shinaba, said: “You will recall that on June 5 2014, the command received information that Alhaji Ganiyu Akanbi Bello was brutally murdered at his Race Course residence, Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
“Luck ran out on the culprit when he was arrested in his home at Badawa Quarters, Kano State. He was arrested after some clues were found at the scene of the crime.”

Politics / Bush Meat Sellers Protest In Oyo State by LUVTB(m): 1:43am On Aug 19, 2014
SCORES of bush meat sellers, yesterday, marched to Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s office at the Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan, complaining of low patronage due to the outbreak of Ebola disease.
The women under the aegis of Bushmeat Sellers Association lamented that since the announcement that the deadly disease could be caused by eating bush meat, spell had been cast on their sales.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Alhaja Risikat Odeyemi, Iyalode, Bushmeat Association, Oyo State, said it was strange that bush meat which had hitherto been taken as a special delicacy should now be seen as a poison.
She said, “our meats do not have any ebola virus. We don’t know why people should just be peddling rumour that would be injurious to other people. This is not good at all. They have spoilt our business without any good reason. What we heard is that the disease was contacted through the river. Why should they just start trying to be so unfair”.
They said before the announcement, a grass cutter was being sold between N2,000 and N4,000 and the same thing goes for antelope and other animals. But, now they regretted that there are no sales again, adding, “We normally stand by the roadside to invite prospective buyers. But now when we call them to buy bush meat, they always reply us saying, “ebola”. It is the same meat we have been eating and nothing has happened to us.”
Their visit to the governor’s office, she added, was to appeal to him to help us dispel the rumour that bush meat causes Ebola.
At press time, the governor was yet to attend to them and many of the bush meat sellers sat clumsily at the entrance of the gate because the security men at the gate did not allow them to move closer to the governor’s office.

Health / Ebola : Latest 3 New Cases Discovered by LUVTB(m): 1:35am On Aug 19, 2014
LAGOS— IT was a case of mixed fortunes for the nation, yesterday, in the management of the Ebola Virus Disease as three fresh cases were discovered, while four of those earlier admitted at the isolation centre in Lagos were discharged.
Lagos State Health Commissioner, Dr. Jide Idris, who confirmed the emergence of three new cases, remarked: “As at yesterday, (Sunday), we had three new suspected cases. One of them is a blood sample from Kaduna State, while the two others are from Lagos and they are primary contacts. A reason for this was that they do not have the laboratory to test for the virus.
“What we have now is that, there are four people dead, including the index (Mr. Patrick Sawyer). We have eight in the isolation ward before Saturday when we released the doctor, and this doctor was released after testing negative and going through the World Health Organisation, WHO and Centre for Disease Control, CDC, procedures for discharge.

Politics / A Nigerian Scientist Has Offered Nigeria An Experimental Drug by LUVTB(m): 7:21pm On Aug 14, 2014
Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, who made the announcement, today at a world press conference in Abuja, said a Nigerian scientist has offered Nigeria the drug, Nano Sylver, for testing on those infected with the virus.
His words: “A Nigerian scientist has offered Nigeria an experimental drug, hopefully today, that will reach the treatment centre.”
Although the health minister declined mentioning the name of the scientist, he assured that the health ministry will ensure that the drug is applied in line with international best practice.
He said the ministry of health will coordinate all other claims of treatment drugs for Ebola as he confirmed that there is no case of Ebola in Enugu state contrary to media reports.
He said: “A nurse who treated the late Patrick Sawyer disobeyed the Incident Management Committee and traveled to Enugu to visit her husband and was later identified with the symptom. But no one has been infected with the virus in the state apart from Lagos.
“As at today morning, “We have only six contacts in Enugu who are under surveillance.”

The two-month ultimatum from the Northern Elders Forum to President Jonathan to rescue the abducted Chibok girls rekindles fault lines in the Nigerian nation
By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor
It was a battle they inherited from their ancestors. The faceoff that emerged yesterday between Afenifere, the Yoruba Socio Cultural group and the Northern Elders Forum, NEF over the feasibility and competence of President Goodluck Jonathan’s reelection was a recall of the mutual suspicion that existed between Nigeria’s first indigenous regional leaders.
A screengrab taken on May 12, 2014, from a video of Nigerian Islamist extremist group Boko Haram obtained by AFP shows girls, wearing the full-length hijab and praying in an undisclosed rural location. Boko Haram released a new video on claiming to show the missing Nigerian schoolgirls, alleging they had converted to Islam and would not be released until all militant prisoners were freed. A total of 276 girls were abducted on April 14 from the northeastern town of Chibok, in Borno state, which has a sizeable Christian community. Some 223 are still missing.
While the conflict of the forefathers was essentially centered around regional domination, the conflict that burst yesterday is on the surface focused on the fate of the more than 200 Chibok secondary schools abducted last April.
At the peak of the distrust between Nigeria’s founding fathers, the late Northern leader, Sir Ahmadu Bello was quoted as saying that his priority in filling job vacancies in the north would be “first a northerner, then an expatriate and then a southerner and that on contract.”
Bello’s assertion was to be the basis of the chasm and subsequent hostility that shadowed relations between the two sides of the country since independence.
The hostility which was fueled by the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election Chief Moshood Abiola was only partially soothed by the election of General Olusegun Obasanjo as president in 1999. However, since the Obasanjo phenomenon and the relegation of the north from its position of political dominance, the seeming discomfort of the north in playing second fiddle in the polity has taken a central role in the polity.
It has been especially so under President Jonathan who has generally been affirmed to be Nigeria’s most “troubled” leader. Jonathan has been troubled by the insurgency fanned by what was once thought to be a mainly Islamic agenda. The Islamic Boko Haram group which started by killing Christians, burning and bombing churches has lately expanded its agenda to killing non conforming Islamic leaders bringing to question the real motif of the group.
While some allege that it still has an Islamic agenda, the gruesome and unrestrained brutality of the group has given vent to a political agenda.
So when the NEF last Monday urged President Jonathan to forget re-election if the Chibok girls are not returned, the group whether advertently or inadvertently rekindled the regional distrust that existed between the north and the south.
In a statement issued by Barrister Solomon Dalung and Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the group alleged that the ongoing insurgency in the north was aimed at politically and economically weakening the north to allow the easy reelection of President Jonathan.
“We also reject the notion that multiple internal security challenges such as attacks on villages, ethno-religions conflicts and banditry springing up by the day in many parts of the north are all a coincidence,” the statement said. “Indeed, we are convinced that most of these conflicts are being engineered to weaken the North politically and economically by interests which intend to exploit such weaknesses for electoral benefits.”
Alleging that the administration was deliberately allowing the crisis to fester, the NEF said:
“The lack of a strong will at the level of the presidency to fight it, as well as deep-seated corruption and incompetence in governments and in the management of our security challenges has allowed a band of terrorists to take and hold vast parts of our land and populations hostage, while every citizen lives in fear that they will be its next victim.”
The NEF which has such prominent Jonathan bashers as Dr. Junaid Mohammed, Prof. Ango Abdullahi in its fold and had never hidden its revulsion of a second term for Jonathan or the aspiration of any other southerner, was quick to push forward its most notable agenda, to wit, that Jonathan should not re-contest.
“In the light of our firm conviction that the insurgency and related security challenges pose threats to the 2015 elections and the survival of our nation, we strongly advise President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to bring an end to the insurgency in all its manifestations and produce the Chibok girls before the end of October, 2014. The circumstances under which our fellow citizens in and around Gwoza in Borno State in particular live and die will not be tolerated by any people who have a government and a leader sworn to defend them, and they must be reversed immediately. In the event that President Jonathan fails to do this, Nigerians will be left with the only conclusion that he has forfeited his right to ask for our mandate beyond 2015.”
Afenifere in a sharp rebuttal was quick to enter the fray yesterday. The group in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mr. Yinka Odumakin said the statement by the NEF was an exposure of the linkage between the Islamic Boko Haram sect and some northern elites.
“By linking the electoral fortune of President Jonathan in 2015 to “Bring Back Our Girls” latest by October as well as ending Boko Haram at the time, the “elders” have just confirmed the suspicions in the land that the activities of the Islamic Sect Boko Haram is either enjoying the sponsorship of some elites of the North or at the least having their sympathy.”
Afenifere was quick to spot out what it referred to as the unwillingness of the northern elders to condemn the activities of Boko Haram while focusing on the alleged failures of the president.
“In all the sound and fury of the Forum, we searched in vain any outright condemnation of Boko Haram. And this has .been the pattern of most reactions from the majority of the elites of the region who always appear politically correct to the insurgents while using their activities to rattle the government. The most audacious of this perfidy is this direct put by the Northern Elders Forum.”
“A traumatized country that has been held in anxiety over the fate of the abducted girls cannot but challenge these elders at this stage to appeal to their wards in Boko Haram to release the innocent young girls who now appear cannon fodders in the struggle for “we want our power back”.
“A time has come to let these elites know they can no longer play the ostrich by burying their heads in the sand and think no one sees them because they are seeing no one.”
“We, however, frown at the disingenuous attempt by unconscionable elites who are now dishing out two months ultimatum to end an insurgency that they prepared the atmosphere for in decades of exploitation and iniquitous dealings with their own people. Can they name one country that has defeated terror in 60 days?”
“How many rulers have we had in Nigeria since 1960 and how many come from the North? Why did it not occur to any of them that the Almajiris should go to school?” “The country has suffered enough of the errors of these leaders which has now produced terror in the land, they should stopping pouring salt on the injury,” Afenifere said.
Northern Elders on Jonathan
•Administration is insensitive to the plight of
Chibok girls
•Toying with corruption
•Has put politics ahead of governance
•Has closed its eyes to the Boko Haram scourge in the North
Afenifere on Northern Elders
•They are cuddling Boko Haram
•Refusing to condemn Boko Haram
•Prefer to cite alleged incompetence of Jonathan
•Not sincere about Chibok girls

Politics / Ebola Victim Dies In Saudi Arabia by LUVTB(m): 7:15pm On Aug 06, 2014
The man recently visited Sierra Leone, one of four countries in the outbreak.

World Health Organization (WHO) experts are meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss a response to the outbreak.

The two-day meeting will decide whether to declare a global health emergency.

Ebola, a viral haemorrhagic fever, is one of the deadliest diseases known to humans, with a fatality rate of up to 90%.

A WHO statement on Wednesday said 932 patients had died of the disease in West Africa so far, with most of the latest fatalities reported in Liberia.

Concern has also been growing over a number of new cases in Nigeria, the region's most populous nation. On Wednesday, a nurse who treated an Ebola patient became the second person to die of the disease there

Politics / Northern Population Is Around 42 Million -----United Kindom Minister by LUVTB(m): 4:15pm On May 16, 2013
Before arriving at the decision, the government said it observed that the region is home to 42 million people who still live under the national poverty line - 65% of the total across Nigeria.

The decision of the government to focus much of her assistance to the north was confirmed by the British Government Minister for International Development, Lynne Featherstone who visited Kano State on Wednesday to understand development challenges in Northern Nigeria and to review progress on development projects supported by the UK Department for International Development.

The minister emphasised that the UK was committed to supporting Nigeria as it worked to reduce poverty.

According to information gathered from the UK High Commission in Abuja, the minister noted that the UK welcomed Kano Government’s work to understand the challenges impeding growth and development and the paths to addressing them.

She said, “Northern Nigeria faces enormous development challenges. The region is home to 42 million people living under the national poverty line - 65% of the total across Nigeria. This is why the UK is tripling its assistance to Nigeria - 60% of which is focused on northern Nigeria.

Politics / Re: North's Population Figures Is Not A Fraud-(a Reply To Asari Dokubo) by LUVTB(m): 7:20pm On May 11, 2013
ebamma: i woke up this morning, trying to catch up with latest news in nigeria, when i came across this thread.www.nairaland.com/1286629/northern-population-fraud---asari-dokubo.
Where the ex militant asari dokubo said that norths population figures are exaggerated
Mr dokubo norths population ain't a fraud, the population of northern nigeria is three to four times the population of the south.
Majority of hausa girls of 15 to 16yrs old are married women, whereas majority of igbo or ijaw southern women are still in school at that age, and marry when the are in their late twenties or early 30's.
By the time an igbo woman who married at 26 or 30yrs of age has a child, the hausa girl who married at 16 or 17yrs of age has already had more than 5 children. You can do the maths if it involves just 1000 hausa women to 1000 igbo or ijaw women.
Another factor is the polygamy factor a middle class hausa man can marry upto 4 wives according to his religion's decree, whereas an igbo or ijaw man is okay with one wife,
Another factor is bride price, a hausa man can do a small marriage of 100 to 200k, which makes it affordable to many hausamen to marry,
So putting all this factor together, i can proudly tell u that north's population is higher than the south's, Mr Asari Dokubo i hope u are reading this.
Please Seun remove this crap from front page because the OP analysis has no basic. If what the OP said is true than Niger and Chad should have been the most populated in the world because both of them are muslim countries with same factor applied to Northern Nigeria
Politics / Northern Population Is A Fraud - Asari Dokubo by LUVTB(m): 2:28am On May 11, 2013
Is there anywhere in the world that there are more people in a desert part of the country than in a fertile part of the country? In the whole world, it is only in Nigeria that we are told that there more people living in the desert than in the fertile and mangrove land. I’ve travelled around the world and I know that the said population of Nigeria and the population of northern Nigeria is 419.

I have wondered why Niger Republic and Chad which are in the same desert like the north are not as populated as northern Nigeria. What is there in Kano State to sustain two million population? Can someone tell me? Is it the industry or what? There is nothing in Kano that can sustain two million population.

So all these manipulations have been going on and people have been accepting it, and now after we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and that freedom is in site, then an Amaechi comes and wants to take us back into slavery. It’s not going to be possible. If they like, let them settle whatever problem between him and Goodluck, but we the people of the Niger Delta will not settle that or allow a traitor in our midst.

We will never allow a traitor to be in our midst because if God brings you out from poverty, you should be grateful to God, and not to drag yourself back to poverty. That is what Amaechi wants to do. We will not go back to slavery and poverty, and will never allow him to drag us along. Enough of the handshake across the Niger.

Is it only we that will always stretch out hands for a handshake across the Niger? Let the man on the bank of the Niger stretch his own hand to us. Don’t they shake hands? Why must it be us that will be doing handshake every time? We have fought, we have seen the light, total freedom is coming and we will never allow any traitor among us, and that is why the people of Rivers State are happy that finally, Amaechi has exposed himself. That is the reality before us.

There is so much joy among Rivers State people that this is happening. It is no longer Riverine fight the upland, but it is now a collective fight of the people against one traitor called Amaechi. This is not an Ijaw matter. It is fight for the people of Rivers State and the South-South people because we know that it’s the rat in the house that goes to tell the rat in the bush that there is fish in the kitchen. We cannot allow Amaechi to bring back the enemy to come and destroy our land. It is not possible.

So for us, whether Goodluck settles with Amaechi or not, whatever they are doing, we have solved that. Amaechi will not be allowed to have his way. In the first place, Amaechi never won election to become governor. His being a governor in Rivers State today is the manipulation of the oligarchs.

Seven sat down at the Supreme Court and declared a man who never contested election governor of a state. If Omehia was not legally qualified to contest the 2007 election, the honorable path open to the Supreme Court was to annul the election and order a fresh election, but that didn’t happen because it is the programme of the Caliphate to impose a candidate and seven men sat at the Supreme Court and imposed Amaechi on the people of Rivers State.

It was the same process. Amaechi never won House of Assembly election in 1999. Uche Okwukwu defeated him, and the same court process was used to give him another man’s mandate. Uche Okwukwu after wining him at the election, won him at the tribunal, and they went to INEC list to expunge Uche Okwukwu’s name from the election list.

Meanwhile, he has a voters’ card and up till today, INEC refused to tell us how the name of a man who was duly registered as a voter, who passed through all the process of election and became a candidate in an election, suddenly disappeared from its register, and they declared Amaechi the winner.

Amaechi has been wining through the court. Now, the court is declaring other people winners against his interest, why is he protesting? He was elected by the court, from House of Assembly to governor.

Amnesty to Boko Haram

As far as I am concerned, the first amnesty was a mistake and a bribe. So, since you have given amnesty to one group of people, you must continue to give amnesty to others. Very soon, kidnappers will come asking for amnesty, you will give them because you gave others. Very soon pipeline vandals will also come, you will give them amnesty.

Very soon, looters of treasuries, like the man who stole the pension fund, will come, you will give them. You give amnesty because you want to buy peace. You can’t buy peace because the peace you bought will never last. If there are signs that Niger Delta will boil again, it is because you bought the peace there. Since you failed to do the right thing and decided to buy peace, you will continue to buy peace.

In the Niger Delta, it is not because of amnesty that there is peace; it is because Goodluck is President. That is why there is peace. Immediately Goodluck ceases to be president, all of us who are on sabbatical will come back. People like us never took amnesty, and we will never take it, because we committed no crime. Nobody will come to my land and take what belongs to me.

Look at the way they awarded the oil wells to themselves. These people are very wicked, they allocated the oil fields to themselves. This is the worst type of apartheid, Zionism, disregard and discrimination of the highest order. The same people are still saying that the people who own the land will not be entitled to it.

This is the kind of thing they want to bring back, and we are saying it will not be possible. If they like, let them campaign. If they like, let them form merger and association, but all we know is that by 2015, Goodluck will be president whether they like it or not. If they say it’s empty threat, let them wait and see.

Tolexander: God isn't a magician!

God can do all things but God will never do everything

If the Lord changed suddenly your look, you would be a monster to people around you.
You have the power to change everything about yourself. God gave Adam the permission to name what he hath created of course God could have named them himself but the names will seem foolish and incomprehensible to Adam.

Dietary Approach: Mind your diet and make sure they contain the right proportions of vitamins.

Psychological Approach: make sure you free your mind from this mentality of 'i look older than my age'. Play with your agemates freely so that everyone seeing you will know that you are of the same age with them only that nature denied the equal appearance with them.

Hilarious Approach: look for a small board and write 'i am 32years' and place it on your heart tethered to your neck so that everybody can see it and know your real age.
I tried the second last time and a guy told me to my face don't i know i am elder to them.

nenergy: You're not alone. I have a muture look compared to my age mates (especially amongst my cousins-they call me uncle.Hahahaha). I told a lady my age and she lost all composure to excess laughter.. Try wearing 'youthful' clothings and have a regular (low) hair cut. Yours is better,at least you're not going bald like me.lol I remember attending a church fund-raiser. Time for refreshment, people where served what was readily available,as only the VIPs were served their choices. I was wearing a native attire (up and down) and this lady approached me, squatted and asked, "what will you have sir?" I've since began using it to my advantage. You're great just like you are....rock it!
I AM BALDING THOUGH 30%

enilove: There is nothing God cannot do.
If you can put it in prayer regularly God can change your look, since He is your creator.

Also,if you are the type that is easily provoked or angered,it can make you to look older than your age.
Look for those things that would make you happy always and deliberately use them to cheer yourself.Learn how to smile or keep a cheerful face.

If you are are a fat or fleshy person, try and reduce your weight by doing an exercise.
i AM NOT FATTY BRO, BUT VERY HAIRY THAT IF I REMOVE CLOTH YOU WILL EVEN SHOUT AND WILL NOT WISH IT TO ANY ONE U LIKE

The bible said there is nothing God can not do. People have been telling me that i look 10yrs above my factual age and it has been a worry issue to my personal life write from home, though is not the real problem i want God to heal for me but brothers and sisters it has been a very difficult thing on my side to the extent people whom i look as my far seniors will be calling me sirs and even when i go to church here in Dakar those i suppose to give a way to sit down will stand up for me to sit and my mates call me their elderly seniors and i really don't know how i will explain this to them that i am still under 32. At times i feel ashamed to go to any gathering or even discuss with females as a girl once said to me that dating with me will be like dating with his fathers mate.
My question here is can God Change my look?. I face the same thing in many countries i go and people find it very hard to believe me.
