the intake has splitter plates just separated from the body at the jet intakes to avoid stagnant boundary layer air, that is air that sticks to the plane and causes drag

The leading edge is fixed in place, this was to keep the cost down though it does slightly reduce take off and landing abilities.

I was at the Airbase today, had a closer look at the Honker and Tavor-21s. The Tavor-21 some of our Airmen carry, they seem to be the smaller X-95 variant, they are a lot different from the models we first so with our Airmen in 2013 when they went to Mali.

The Tavors also seem to be replacing the FN FAL and AK in NAF service. I like the Beryl though, only when it comes with it's full complement of Scope and Laser.
MTAR(X95) if any should be in the hands of your DSS

Namer AIFV design

Namer is based on the turret-less Merkava 4 chassis, which has sloped hybrid armour to protect the fighting compartment. It has a remotely operated weapon station and multiple smoke canisters are embedded within the armour. The vehicle has two hatches on the hull roof for use by the commander and gunner, and a rear ramp for use by troops.

The driver's compartment is ergonomically designed and the vehicle is equipped with large vision blocks and electro-optical viewing devices. Four remotely controlled video cameras provide an unobstructed peripheral view. The fully networked AIFV has an Elbit Systems battle management system included in the C4 equipment, a control and inspection system and computerised weapon systems to enable the infantry corps to destroy threats.

Features
The Namer IFV can carry up to 12 including the crew, a stretcher and medical equipment as attachments. The vehicle is equipped with advanced defensive systems, missile launchers, machine guns, reconnaissance equipment for day and night vision and an internal air-conditioning unit. The doors and ramps are redesigned for efficient offload of soldiers and equipment and easy stretcher handling.

The Namer AIFV will enable safe and quick advancement of infantry troops. The IDF is also considering the development of multipurpose Namer versions. The various planned variants are the armoured recovery vehicle, repair and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and 30mm cannon armed anti-tank guided missiles command vehicle.

Armament
"The Namer AIFV will enable safe and quick advancement of infantry troops."
The Namer AIFV is armed with Rafael's Mini-Samson RCWS with multisensor target acquisition systems. It is also equipped with a 12.7mm M2HB heavy machine gun, a 7.62mm M246 machine gun, a 60mm mortar and smoke grenade launchers. The future development plans also include mounting of a Samson weapon station armament and heavier 30mm automatic cannons and spike guide weapons.

Protection
Namer is equipped with automatic fire suppression systems, and nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) protection. The vehicle offers protection level equal to that of the Merkava 4. Rafael's Trophy active protection modules, also called ASPRO-A, cover the sides of the vehicle.

In June 2009, the IDF selected the Israel Military Industries (IMI)-developed Iron Fist active protection system (APS) for the Namer armour personnel carrier. The Namer troop carrier, however, is fitted with Trophy APS. There are also plans to develop a hybrid APS system which would launch both Trophy and Iron Fist interceptors.

Propulsion
Namer is powered by a Teledyne Continental AVDS-1790-9AR V12 air-cooled diesel engine. It develops 1,200hp (895kW), the same as that of the Merkava mkIII tank.

lol grin grin grin

first priority is to take out the technicals.
militarily BH entire center of gravity seems to be around the utilization of these technicals.

high time somebody gave a serious thought to tackling these technicals.

my idea / suggestion

1.road spikes especially designed and fitted with anti handling features i.e f**king attach proximity/ motion sensitive IEDs to these spikes designed to go off if somebody tries to remove/ approach them. beat the freaking terrorist in their own game with their own weapons.

the IED attached to the spike should be such that it cannot be recycled/reused.

camouflaged IED treated road spikes can be placed all around the base upto the external perimeter, another plus point any one of them going off will trip , alert the base defenses. plus hamper the technicals mobility.

during a BH assault even if 30% of the technicals are immobilized due to this, especially at the start of the assault the momentum is seriously broken and the attack will fail provided the defenders provide resistance.

2.remote controlled explosives with anti handling features placed at approach points , these can be high explosive, smoke , phosphorous, napalm based. any technical in close vicinity of such devices can be blown off remotely.

3. develop mortar artillery based cargo rounds filled with tyre puncturing spikes, any such round fired in air burst mode over approaching technicals will stop them.

4.fill the trenches with oil and other available smoke producing substances which can be set on fire to disrupt visibility for the technicals and deny them targets, do this only if you have immunity from the smoke screen only and the capability to hit the technicals through the same smoke screen .

5. low cost long range upto 2-3 km fire and forget ATGM to take out the technicals.

others plz add if you have any

@bidexiii what say you?
-Good old Chinese AGL grin

- .416 Barrett / .50BMG anti material rifle to bounce them technicals around

Trenches.............

The major Nigeria army that was overrun, there where enough trenches. Infact in the video you will find dead soldiers inside the trenches, Nigeria bases that av seing are protected with enough trenches.

In my own opinion, those bases do not av enough man power due to the vast land area of the war front so there are many check points and mini-military bases. So BHT use overwhelming firepower and numbers to run such bases. The last that was done in nigerian soil, they captured a BHT -4E, thank God for the airforce and quick response of the 72 MSF, They where able to recover the btr-4E and some other equipment.
With the quantity of ammo as seen captured in the video, i can't say that fire base was lacking in heat.

Sniper/DMR
Well structured and layered trenches
Razor wires
Effective communication and maneuver during contact
Excellent pair of balls(preferably steel coated in Ethiopia) grin

This could have been avoided

Hi guys,i have been following this thread for over two years now(as a guest and sometimes with my acc),its a really nice thread.
I will like to know the opinions of you guys in the recent pipeline vandalism issue, what do you think the government can do?,
I think wr should support the government, he his not leaving until 2019 or probably 2022,he is already in,we should support him for now at least so that the nation can progress, this same people blowing up pipeline were alive and suffering during Jonathan's time and yet they weren't destroying pipelines and confronting the government, just because you do not like him doesn't mean you should be sabotaging his government, why not wait till 2019 and vote him out,the country is now generating less than 1.2million barrels of oil per day and the economy is in recession just because of their actions. It is going to affect every one at last
So what will you advice the government to do

Can someone please Explain to me why Drum Magazines aren't used by the worlds Armies. They seem to carry more rounds than the standard Magazines, and if its a matter of them being too expensive then why aren't they given exclusively to Special forces. SF guys tend to get involved in intense fire fights and I'm sure having to reload after firing 35/30 or 20 rounds must be a serious disadvantage for a small group of guys fighting Hundreds of enemy soldiers.
I can't say for Nigeria, but in a world where elite forces are dumping conventional mags for lighter PMags, it's not hard to see why.
Small group of men fighting hundreds of enemies in today's world would have an armed over watch slinging APKWS.
