Politics / Re: 301 Reps Sponsor Bills To Stop Ajaokuta Steel Company Concession by macdot(m): 3:06pm On Mar 23, 2018
truthstands12:
Its quite unfortunate how we desire to be selling off our national assets in the name of incompetence of government to manage them. Where is our pride if we keep selling off all these assets. Leadership is the problem in Nigeria. If you have a competent leader, he gives order that Ajaokuta steel must work in a defined period. He gets a technocrat and competent hand to manage and handle it, and you'll see result. That's how countries of the world who are serious are developing their people. When you privatize, you transfer the wealth to the country that purchases it.

Forget about this pride talk, Nigeria is enshrined in corruption and even if an angel becomes the president tomorrow, he can't handle things alone. He has to go through the ministry and is the ministry free of corruption? Our leaders have failed us yes, but we have failed ourselves as well. Billions have been spent on this project since 1999 but yet no result. Why keep it and keep pumping scarce funds when it can be sold and made into productive use? The fact still remains that government has no business in business. They should only provide the necessary support for businesses to function.

You're so on point like decimal. Just looking at the person that said 950naira up there like .
Just to add, A professional in the field would be an added advantage.

Yes, he needs the services of a professional who will be readily available for vaccinations and emergencies. The token you will pay is better than loosing an investment in this hard time.

Agriculture / Re: Estimated Cost Of Setting Up A Poultry Farm by macdot(m): 6:50pm On Feb 10, 2017
rockyh:
Dear nairalander, I would like to know the cost of setting up a poultry farm. I already have battery cage n space . All I need is the estimated cost of purchasing and feeding about 500birds to laying point n probably it's returns in terms of profit so as to c if it's a viable business to embark on thanks Please mod move it to the front page cos of its urgency

Due to the high cost of things, I will advise you to estimate 1500 per bird till point of lay. It may end up a little bit less than that but you will be within range of your budget.
Also on the profit aspect, you should know they won't feed themselves immediately they start laying however, in doing your estimate, you will assume that they will start feeding themselves from 24weeks and also calculate your profit based on a projection of 75% production. However, their production can reach 85 to 90% if everything is done right.
It's better to base your calculations on this so as not to be disappointed when you don't achieve 100% production at the end of the day or get stuck in the middle even before your birds start laying.
Good luck

Education / Re: Proliferation Of First Class Degrees In Private Varsities The PUNCH by macdot(m): 2:55pm On Apr 08, 2016
You don't have to be a genius to get a first class. It's all about hardwork and 100% determination from day one. Moreover, the number of graduates from public universities are way more than those of private unis in Nigeria. Also, the standard of education as well as the lecturers in a public uni is not even encouraging but when you go to private unis, the students have everything they need to get good grades, all they require is just that hardwork. If such facilities and conducive environment is provided for public uni students, we will all be amazed at the increase of first class graduates from these schools.

I just newly bought four plots of and that I intend to use for poultry farming. Can anyone help me out with the tutorial guide on what to do. I am still a novice. But I love agric. Location is Anambra state.
I will advice you to look for a practicing farmer around you so as to learn from there. Also, start small so as to gain more experience along the line and employ the services of a reputable vet doc to guide you along the way. Most people that sells tutorials normally do copy and paste and don't really have a farm. If you start small, you will learn the rudiments of Poultry so as to avoid making huge losses due to a management error. Good luck

Good job here, however, 19 weeks is too late to transfer them to cages, you can transfer between 13 to 16 weeks because they need to acclimatise with the cage before they start dropping.
