Politics / EXCLUSIVE: If FG Returns Subsidy?!!! by Macfloyd: 4:37pm On May 13, 2016
Note: This isn't a thread for APC vs. PDP or tribal/ethnic bashing and insults, this is also not about the blame game between the past and present administrations. This is for all intellectuals and ‎Nigerians concerned about this country.

Lets assume FG wishes to please the masses and go back to the subsidy regime, and fix the price of petrol @N86.50:‎
----Nigeria is currently earning pennies from crude because of low crude prices
----With pipelines being blown in the Niger-delta,Nigeria is practically grounded in terms of revenue generation‎
----Marketers will still sell @ N120-N150 all over the country and still collect subsidy from Govt, thereby making double gains‎
-----4 years from now,we will wish we have removed the subsidy today.‎
-------The timing will never be right
-----@ N145 though is high and it will be difficult to accommodate, but trust market forces to level prices out and reduce the price much downwards over the coming months.‎

The FG has made the best decision ever in the history of Nigeria . Is it only fuel we need?  What of roads, hospitals, housing, education, welfare, power etc.
The subsidy claims 1/3rd of Govt revenue according to Sanusi. Sanusi made this claim during Occupy Nigeria in 2012 and then oil price was 102 dollars/barrel. Now the oil price is 45 dollars/barrel and for the fact that this economy has not collapsed is a miracle. Go to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Venezuela, and Brazil and see the impact of low oil prices to their economy. These countries have all removed subsidy and also increased fuel prices by very high percentages despite the fact that some of these countries have over 500 billion dollars in their reserve. Nigeria has nothing in our reserve hence at 45 dollars/barrel oil, there is nothing to absorb the shock.
Our oil production is dropping due to militancy in Nigerdelta and revenue plunging down drastically.

This is simple economics and about the future, expect nothing less than 1 million civil servants fired after if subsidy isn't removed now. This is the price we must pay for 16 years of mismanagement without saving. It's time to move forward and look ahead.

NB: If you think otherwise, 2019 is only a few months away, you have your PVC, argue with it.

PDP's media outfits are just looking for every way to magnify things dat are irrelevant just to make people believe there is beef within APC. Dats how dey once claimed Tinubu is planning for Buhari's impeachment and also dey said Tinubu is against Fasola's Ministerial appointment, Later Tinubu was interviewed and he said he personally nominated Fashola for d post. Infact Tinubu has the most slots in d political appointments made so far in dis APC administration. Ibe Kachukwu does not represent APC, he's representing an institution dat affects all Nigerians irrespective of thier party affiliations.

WE HAVE A LEADER THAT IS WELL RESPECTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY!! unlike GEJ who was so clueless that he didn't even know how much money was being stolen under his nose!! PDP is not going to rule Nigeria again.....just forget it!! U prolly hate APC because from ur Name u're from the SS!! But ask urself, what good has PDP done to you?

Bros, abeg leave am. He lacks depth and he's to tribalistic and partisan to even understand d feelings of Nigerians. Even doh Nigerians r complaining of d economic hardship, we all still understand it's going to be a gradual process and after 4yrs if Buhari fails den we can start attacking him.

TonyeBarcanista:

I think you need to wake up. There is no third force and Nigerians are already rallying behind PDP. Come 2019 the reformed party will return to office.

The APC and Buhari have failed woefully

I read your write up and i've been observing for quite some time, the funny thing about u is dat U celebrate every single negative news about Nigeria/our economy/ Buhari and APC. U would quickly analyse it and heap d blame at d doorstep of the new administration and APC. I initially expected u 2 be more intelligent dan some vague assumptions and conclusions u make in your analysis and write-ups. Back to d topic, no one gave u right to assume for d south-west and notherners that they do not support this government and Buhari. For u to think because of the current economic hardship and transition the country is going through that the people of South-west, North and middle-belt are not intelligent enough to know that CHANGE is what they asked for and not a MIRACLE, is the greatest mistake and miscalculation you and your party PDP are making again. No one expected the government that took over depleted Foreign reserve, battered economy, insecurity and high rate of unemployment to do a miracle in 10months with the current crash in Oil price and no budget. Government's policies, infrastructural development and projects are all tied to budgets which has not been in place since he took over. I expected you and every Nigerian irrespective of tribe or religion to support the country to move forward after 16 years of bashing and corruption Nigeria witnessed under your PDP. We waited for 16 years and PDP failed Nigerians, so Nigerians are prepared to start all over again and give Buhari and APC at least 3more years then we would access their performance before anyone could start talking of vacancy in Aso Rock or not.
We all know the reason the statement of "no vacancy in Aso rock in 2019" was to calm the tension within APC and different interest groups, they know Nigerians would kick them out if they do not perform.

Note:
Please before I end, i'll like to ask you a 2 questions Mr Tonyebarcanista,
1. Why is it dat u don't ever comment on any good news about Nigeria?
2. Why is it that u don't ever comment on any negative news about PDP/GEJ and the past administration?

My advice to u:
Be a Nigerian and not a blind regional politician without depth and vision.

Politics / Re: From 30, Senators With Saraki At CCT Shrink To 18. by Macfloyd: 12:27pm On Mar 18, 2016
NgeneUkwenu:
From 30, senators with Saraki at CCT shrink to 18.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has arrived at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) where his trial for alleged false declaration of assets continues.

He arrived at 9:55am in company of at least 18 senators.

The number of senators who accompanied him on Friday was less than the 30 who accompanied him to the tribunal last week.

Saraki wore a flowing milk-coloured “Agbada”, and sat gently in the second row of benches reserved for senators.

Some of the senators present are Abdullahi Sabi, senate spokesman; Sam Anyanwu, Stella Oduah, Ben Murray-Bruce, Tayo Alasoadura and Andy Uba.

This is the fifth time the senate president will appear at the CCT.

The first time was on September 22, 2015 after the tribunal had issued a bench warrant for his arrest. He was accompanied to the tribunal by at least 50 senators on that day.

On the same day, he was docked, but he pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of false declaration of assets brought against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

The second time was on October 21, 2015 when he was accompanied by at least 81 senators to the tribunal.

And the third time was on November 5, 2015, when his lawyers, Joseph Daodu and Mahmud Magaji, withdrew from the case in protest of the decision of the tribunal to continue the matter despite an appeal against the constitution and jurisdiction of the tribunal at the supreme court.

The senate president had gone the whole hog to challenge his trial at the CCT, but he failed at every turn.

On February 5, the apex court dismissed the appeal to stop his trial paving the way for the continuation of the case at the CCT.

The CCT had earlier fixed March 10 for trial, but it shifted to March 11 at the instance of Kanu Agabi (SAN) Saraki’s new lawyer. On March 11, Saraki’s lawyer filed an application challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal. The application will be heard on Friday.

phemmyutd:
Former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi has given corruption evidences against incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike while challenging him to do same against him.

Amaechi, who is current Minister of Transportation listed contracts awarded to Wike in the state which he did not either complete or commence work upon.

Speaking on Sunday at an APC rally in Rumueme, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, ahead of the state and national assembly elections on Saturday, he urged Rivers citizens to vote for the All Progressives Congress during the election.

I will bring evidence to show that Wike is corrupt. Wike did the Rukpoku/Eneka road during my tenure and did not complete it. I gave Wike the contracts to do all the roads around Aristle House (a hotel in GRA) but he failed to do them, I gave him 14 schools to give to Obio/Akpor people, he stole them, he lacks character,” Amaechi said.

Also speaking on the security situation in the state, Amaechi said, “When I was the governor, one thing that I kept thinking of was how to chase these criminals away but under Nyesom Wike, he meets with them. If Wike does not secure you people, the federal government will secure you. If he doesn’t want to be ignored he should go and secure you people because federal government will no longer tolerate these killings in Rivers State.

Amaechi further told his supporters not to be intimidated by Wike’s threats and come out to vote APC at Saturday’s election.
