I think this is caused because we've over adopted the Western Culture. I'll speak for Islam only; Islamically a woman bears her father's name even after marriage. So if you'll find in many strict Islamic countries women despite after marriage still bear names like Zainab bint Mu'awiyah(Zainab daughter of Mu'awiyah).

I'm currently in 200level in a Nigerian university and I will soon be 22 years old but with my age I don't have the confidence to speak to New people especially women I've never had a girlfriend before, whenever I try to speak to a lady I admire, my voice volume reduces from 90% to minus sixty percent, my legs start to wobble and my hands turns sweaty and shaking. I've tried reading a lot of books on self confidence but all this ain't working. a friend of mine meet a girl, had a little talk with her and collected her contact. Few days later (on Christmas day) He called her, after exchanging pleasantries he then ask if she is on WhatsApp just so they can chat cos the number she gave him is not on WhatsApp. So, he asked her to text him her WhatsApp number.
