Today makes it a year since i got my redmi note 5. I bless those who recommended it to me daily. This past year, I have never had cause to replace any part or experienced any issue with it. The battery is still strong (7 hours SOT at least, on a good day I get 8 hrs 30 mins). For a phone I got so cheap compared to others I have used, I am still in love with it that I don't even think of getting a new one. Xiaomi RN5 has been my best device yet! No jokes...

You can actually use the slider to change tracks seemlessly like a pro dj. Another feature that I like is the crossfade option which allows you to play music non stop continuously track after track. It's also available in poweramp.

You can use always on edge display apk to use the equivalent of ambient display feature on you ips device.

I'm on beta so I get updates every week.
I get about 7-8 hours sot max. I don't know if it has anything to do with been on beta. I got more than this sot when I was on MIUI stable.

Your first question, the answer is no. The feature that should have made up for it is the 'access to power menu when device is locked', it works cos when the power button is pressed when the device is locked the power menu doesn't pop up but if you still hold the power button for about 7-10 seconds the phone will reboot, though still locked.
Second question, the answer is yes. See pix.

Just to be clear,
there is a difference between eu rom and miui.eu.
EU rom, a variant of miui stock rom.
Miui.eu, a miui based custom rom.
So in this case im talking about the miui.eu rom

Miui.eu is a miui based custom rom. To use you have to unlock your bootloader, flash custom recovery, download miui.eu rom of your choice and install.
