Finally I get to say my own!!

APPROVAL ALERT!!!!

I am so excited!

Online route
Submitted 6th of December 2018
Biometrics : 7th Dec
Medical request: 18th of January 2019
Medical done: 28th January 2019
Medical passed: 1st of February
Biometrics validity: 6th of February
PPR: 7th of February

Documents submitted
All cic docs
Proof of funds (my parents were my sponsors): SoA CAC docs, land docs...
Affidavit of sponsorship from my sponsor and Co-sponsor
Birth certificate
Waec certificate
BSc cert. & transcript (2018)
SOP
Admission letter

Didn't really see the point of the police certificate thingy, so I didn't do it.

I don't even know how to thank God that will be enough to express how grateful I am. I was getting crazy waiting grin. It even made it worse that I wasn't working so I was checking my portal like 3 times a day for some days grin grin

After I submitted, I was always worried about every little thing! Trust me when I say every LITTLE thing. But at a point; I don't really know when it happened, I finally had complete and utter faith (began to form my approval timeline in my head cheesy cheesy)

All in all, whether you feel your application is perfect or you feel you might have made a mistake some where; Trust that you have a living God. For those that genuinely wanted to study and had their visa delayed, just trust God completely that he has a plan and have the the best in mind for his children. At the end of the end of the day, it's not how far (or who got there the fastest) but how well.

Lemme stop ranting now ☺️

I really thank every single one of you (especially senatorkolade and frankrobbn1), because y'all definitely helped in one way or the other.
Congrats bro,if I may ask...how much was your parents’ SOA and what are you going for (MASTERS OR DIPLOMA)

That is fine but need more like wat are those opportunities, using mine form example am going for a course in energy management, I studied electrical engineering. I explained that I am into solar panel installations and since Nigeria has this major problem in power, entrepreneurs seeing solar power as a possible solution and that's my plan to gain the knowledge and venture into that..which entails job creation, improving the economy etc..

It is evident that Nigeria, my country of citizenship has one of the largest markets in the oil and gas industry, with several on-going and proposed future projects incorporating pipeline engineers with skilled knowledge in pipeline welding inspection and quality control. As Nigeria does not have any institution of learning, where skills in pipeline engineering are being imparted to scholars, there is a shortage of qualified personnel with such additional skills in welding inspection and quality, hence the qualification I will obtain, will place me among the team of experts whose demands are inevitable in the fast growing oil and gas industry in my home country.

Owing to this fact,
On completion of my proposed programme, I intend to establish an excellent career in pipeline construction and integrity, with special interest in defect assessment, pipeline welding processes and welding inspection, using non-destructive tests (NDT) techniques relevant to the appropriate international codes and standards, such as ASME, CSA, BS and API. This will place me among the team of experts whose demands are inevitable in the lucrative pipeline industry in my home country Nigeria.

How would you rate this ??

Hello sir, is your intended program of study English Language foundation? If otherwise, the VO's may not need to defend their decision as you might have succeeded in making their case for them.
Please next time, you may use an online grammar checker as it seems you have inadvertently put a question mark on the integrity of our education system and this may result in compulsory English tests such as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE examination as a prerequisite for future prospective students.

I understand you might have written in annoyance but the number of errors is regrettable. Kindly do something about it like recalling or updating it after blaming "auto-correct".

Lastly, we do not really have the statistics to blame Kenya peeps. Some people may be silently getting their approvals and walking away without feedback. I have noticed 1 or 2 people who screamed out of frustration only when they became afraid of their situation. In Nigeria, it is common place to see 3,000 applicants apply for job openings for 50 people. The VO's may be in the same situation. You cannot really blame the company when they eventually engage the 50 people they can accommodate just the same way we may not be able to fault the VO's. Your application may be air tight and excellent in your opinion as well as that of the case officer but they do not operate in a vacuum as there are other constraints to contend with.

Please take it easy. I lost a friend who was supposed to get married a little over a week ago about 3 weeks back. Sometimes, when you see a problem, you realise that you should be thanking God for so many things we fail to appreciate, like life. I am guilty of such ingratitude oftentimes as well. May it be well with us.

Apologies for the refusal. Been there too many times.
You deserve an Oscar for this !!!

Yes someone might get approved with the profile you cited but it only take the grace of God for such profile to scale through. People from other clime may not have issues with that but for Nigerian applicants, it is a big problem
Let us call a spade a spade

I quite agree that it takes the grace of God to make it happen and for the records;my friend is a Nigerian just as I am.

Proper documentation+God’s grace=Visa approval

I still maintain my initial comment, it does not show any progress and you are likely to be refused.
I am not the principal applicant;besides I’m only letting out the simple fact as a witness to such approval which debunks your earlier statement .

On the SOA, honestly no1 can say how much is needed on your SOA, all I can say is let the money be enough to cover your 1yr in canada that's after tuition deposit..on the SOP, I like the reason u gave but is there any home ties ie wat will bring u back to Nigeria after studies not just employment prospects..cos u need that too..if in the career progression, u explained convincingly, it's okay...

The choice is yours if u want to do paper or online route..i did online back in July cos I wasn't in the mood to be stuck in line at VAC and also I wanted to have a clear view of how my application was progressing..either way, paper or online, none is a sure visa approval but rather wat u have applied with in either routes
Owing to your pointers;as per the tuition fee which is 12kCAD;the requires me to pay half of it after I get the study permit and half is 6kCad which should be about 1.7m plus the 10kCAD(2.7m) which manes a total of 4.4m or more will be deposited into my account;(mind you I still got 1.7m in there)which makes it about 6m plus;I hope this helps?

Also with the other home ties aside employent prospects ;this is what I wrote on my SOP:

My siblings (mentioned there names) who have raised and supported me throughout my life pursuit are currently residents at (gave details of their various addresses with their respective names).
• I can’t wait to travel home on completion of my programme because with such enviable skills obtained on completion of the programme together with my previous skills, it is obvious that I will inevitably gain from the wide range of opportunities awaiting me on return to Nigeria.

What’s your take on that ?

Lastly,I think the paper can be linked online;if I’m not mistaken ;so it’ still gives a detailed progression of the application;but either ways ;the God factor still comes into play in terms of Visa approval.

@042viber12, I don't quite catch the bolded. Please can you kindly refer me to where it was stated on CIC website that a sponsored applicant should have a balance of at least 5M in their bank account?

Countless of sponsored applicants on this reputable platform have secured their TRV with a 50k personal account balance, while some didn't even include theirs and were successful. Bear in mind that visa officer is looking after the financial capability and stability of the sponsor and not the applicant.

Cc: Maestro001, You go ahead and submit the statement of 1.7M, it will surely go a long way to evidence your personal financial establishment in your country of residence.
@Frankrobbn1;I will do just that;thanks for lifting my spirit .

I got denied today feb 07... Please I need help I already make payment of 1795 CAD

1.If I may ask;did you write your SOP??
2.Where did you put your letter of acceptance from the school?
3.No letter of sponsorship from anyone regarding your studies (I hope you ain’t thinking of the letter your brother wrote)?
4.You showed no reason to return, because it should have been in your SOP which I think you didn’t write(not sure though)
5.You didn’t show proof of relationship in form of sworn affidavits

Those are my thoughts anyways;the gurus can talk more on this

Impressed how far u have gone, but I have some pointers to make...your SOA whixh is 1.7mil...if u ask me...it's not enough, u might be turned down on grounds of not having enough funds..in CIC standards, your own SOA should have a balance of 5mil while your sponsor should have at least 1 5mil..the idea is they want to see that u have enough money to take care of your self even if the sponsors money isn't available...On your SOP u need to explain how the sponsor relates to you, why is he is sponsoring you...age is not a barrier if u wanna seek education in canada..som1 older than has gotten his visa and already in class...so don't worry..On your SOP, u need to explain why u wanna do that cos, they need to see a career progression cos the VO will be wondering why a sales person is going for this course..u also need to explain the goals and employment possibilities in your home country...that way u handle the issue of the VO thinking u want come back after studies...
Thanks for your pointers;actually my SOA is 1.7mil like I said before but sponsors SOA read a little over 5-8mil;with these 2 SOA’s do you think is enough to deal with the issue of insufficient funds or do you think the sponsor should transfer some funds into my account to make it balanced a little?
Also,on my SOP I wrote that my sponsor is a family friend and a good friend of my late parents and he’s sponsoring me on the grounds that my late dad sponsored him during his university days and so he decided to return the favor by doing the same with me ;I hope this is convincing enough?

Lastly, the career progression was well explained as per why I chose that course as well as the employment opportunities that will compel me to return to my home country.

I will be glad if you can let me know if my documents are complete or is there any document I’m missing out,

I will be applying through paper route.(Any pointer on this)

Good luck

I just got admission to NBCC to study Welding technology(diploma),I’m a graduate of physics and my sponsor is a family friend ,I have been working as a sales man for an online store (Jumia)since last year after I served in 2016...Sponsor is a director of his own construction company....Please house what documents should I compile before applying as I already have my
1.Leter of admissioon
2.Bsc cert
3.Neco cert
4.Family birth certs plus mine.
5.Police character
6.SOP.
7.Proof of funds(mine(1.7m)and that of sponsor(6 months bank statements)
8.CAC certs
9.Landed properties.
10.Nysc certs.
11.Transcripts.
12.International passport bio date page and copies
13.Passport photographs.
14.Proof of relationship(by me and sponsor by means of sworn affidavits)
15.Marriage and birth certificates of sponsor
16.Sponsorship letter written by sponsor
17.Sworn affidavits by sponsor.
My intending program of study has no connection with my employment as a sales person and there is no document to prove that except for invoices and ID CARD
Lastly I am in my late late 20’s unmarried without a kid ;is this a red flag??

Awuuga:
1. Well in that case he is actually a third party sponsor and it’ll be beneficial to you if he shows commitment by paying in the CAD10,000 for your living costs and part of your fees (optional). Also before any fees are paid be sure that your school has a refund policy and also confirm what percentage will be refunded.

2. In the absence of those documents you’ll have to do a really good job of convincing the VO of the source of the funds in your account. Go ahead and explain explicitly that you were productively busy during that period.

3. Yes it is and it is totally legal. Note that you have a maximum of 20hrs/week to work. Make sure you have enough funds for upkeep because it may take you a while to get a job depending on the province you find yourself and also you might be too involved in your academics to give your side job your best.

For the percentage of fees to be paid, that depends on your budget. Like I said earlier, make sure your school has a refund policy and also find out the percentage that will be refunded.

4. Check the first page of this part and read up on how to write a good SOP. Go through previous threads, draft your SOP and then come back and ask for it to be reviewed

The above is open for corrections and contributions from monikers more knowledgeable.

Regards.

Thanks a lot......you are simply awesome
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Maestro001: 11:53pm On Jan 29, 2019
Awuuga:
1. If your sponsor is a third party sponsor then it is expected that he pays in your living costs for a year {CAD10,000} into your account and also pay in part of your fees. This shows how committed your sponsor is to you & your study plans. Please note, the living cost for a year {CAD 10,000} doesn’t necessarily have to be paid into your Dom account. The equivalent in naira could be paid into your naira account. Also paying part or all of your fees doesn’t guarantee anything, it just goes to show how committed your sponsor is.

If your sponsor is a close family member ( not a third part) then all the funds available can be left in his/her account, you’ll just have to state that in your statement of purpose (SOP).

2. Being unemployed for 2 years doesn’t call for a red flag, as long as you’ve been busy ( productively) in any manner. You can explain that you’re a sales person and also attach any document that can substantiate this claim. Include your statement of account, explain the salary wasn’t regular and attach any sales documents used during those two years.

3. I think you should tick ‘NO’ reason being, the VO knows if your application is approved, you will be allowed to work 20hrs/week when school is in session and more (40hrs) I’m guessing when the school isn’t. So studying is your primary aim for applying. I stand corrected.

4. The statement of purpose isn’t the same as the study/ student questionnaire. Difference is, the statement of purpose is written by the applicant explaining the purpose of visit, why he chose Canada, to explain study gaps, to explain and show home ties & also explain how he/she intends to survive in Canada without working WHILE the study questionnaire focuses mainly on your academic history and why you picked your preferred program.

I hope this helps. Goodluck.

Thanks for your response:permit me to shed more light on some areas ;however

1.My sponsor is my father brother’s son which if I am not mistaken should be my cousin and I’m his cousin/nephew(I stand to be corrected);with that being said I guess he’s a close family member and not a third party so the funds should remain in his account isn’t it ??

2.Yes I am a sales person for the period of me being unemployed in any establishments and I have no documents to substantiate this claim because I just buy in local markets and resell to get profits which in turn is deposited into my account(my account is well over 1m).
Since I have no documents to back up my claims a a sales person during those two years ;can my bank statement suffice at this juncture

3.Yes,study is my primary aim of applying and intend to work while schooling ;I hope that’s ok ??
Also;if I’m to pay part of my tuition fee;what percentage of it should be paid since I can pay in installments??

4.Do you have a template or sample of any statement of purpose I can use as a guide ??i will be very grateful to you if I can get any ;Also, owing to the SOP you mentioned purpose of visit;explain study gaps, why choosing Canada, home ties and how to survive in Canada without working ;How do one go about writing a good SOP that will convince the VO?Your kind help is highly welcomed.

Hello please gurus in the house ;I got a few questions as regards the application;here they are:

1.While showing your proof of funds;is it compulsory that the applicant opens a dorm acct and the sponsor deposits the tuition fees plus the $10k Canadian dollars into account or is the sponsor’s statement of account enough to show proof of sufficient funds

2.If the applicant hasn’t been employed for a little over 2years ;but has minor business he/she has been doing during this time frame;is that a red flag for a refusal
N.B(Business don’t have a name;just a sales person and earnings doesn’t reflect on the applicant banks statements;except for normal deposits).

3.While filling the student permit form;is it ok to tick “YES” when asked if you will work in Canada?

4.Lastly,Is the statement of purpose the same as Student questionnaire

Your answers are all welcome;thanks .

If you’ve been refused before stop wasting your money to reapply until you have a concrete reason. It looks as if they’re just refusing tourists for no reason.

Apply to Italy, direct flight is less than 400$ and only 5 hours. From Italy travel to Spain Portugal Amsterdam Slovenia Czech etc. they are beautiful fun and cheaper. The 1000$ you’ll spend on tickets you can use to visit like 5 countries in Europe. I’ve done this before, tickets and hotels within 5 cities cost me only 350€ or so for 12 nights. This does not include international ticket sha.

It’s so obvious they are stricter now, they have their reasons but that 160$ you keep dashing them can pay for one ticket if you add it together.
@Nobody;how can I reach you and how true is this info...would love to try it if it’s true;how can I contact you for more information .
