CultureOchumare The Rainbow Serpent, Orisha Of The Rainbow by maestro2000(op): 8:52am On Mar 22, 2017
You know what makes lives of mortals so admirable to gods such as myself, is that it ends, mortal life is beautiful because they know they have a limited period of time, and that’s why they accomplish so much more than most gods in their entire existence in a life time.

Take a look at the accomplishments of man with or without the aid of the gods, yes we shaped their history, present and future, but sincerely, if I have learnt anything about mankind from my years of studying them is that they are more in control of what happens to them in their life time, they are resiliently determined.

Of course I would deny this in front of the other gods, they already think am a whimp, being the god of the Rainbow and also that business of me spending half of the year with a male top and female bottom, and the other half with a female top and male bottom{though this is as a result of the Greek perception of me as a female, as if being the god of rainbow wasn’t embarrassing enough}.

I will admit it hurts when Shango, Eshu, Orunmilla and others call me Olokolobo, or when they tell me to f**k myself in the middle of the year, or when they call me Shim {She/him}, but I know it’s all just ruse to cover up for their jealousy of me being closer to Olodumare than any of them.

Even Eshu is jealous of me because it is I who bring news to him from Olodumare, so it’s like am giving him orders to enforce, though we had a pact not to let people know so don’t tell the others.

So many confuse me as the messenger to Shango, how that came to be I do not know, though I suspect it to be rumor started by the same Orisha, but he knows am just gonna let it slide.

I require nothing from anyone as sacrifice to deliver Olodumare’s message, though occasional crystal clear water helps make the journey across the spirit realms tolerable.

TravelHow Ondo State Can Turn Around Tourism Through Idanre Hills by maestro2000(op): 8:37am On Mar 22, 2017
No doubt Idanre town is a haven of tourism with cultural tourism as its major source of attraction and also other aspect of tourism such as mountaineering referring to the Mare festival, but taking a glance at the whole concept of tourism in Idanre and its environs, it is obvious that Idanre is not offering up to the average of what it can offer tourism wise.

Here, I am not going to talk down on the state of tourism but rather, I will review some of the ways in which the concept of tourism can be developed with the aid of what I like to describe as the three A’s i.e.

Attractions

Accessibility

Accommodation

Attractions: an attraction is that one thing or couple things that you cannot get in your place of residence and therefore have to travel to another destination to experience or make use of. In other words, an attraction is the pulling force of a destination site, bringing various visitors from different parts of the world to a particular location. Idanre hills is without a doubt a prolific tourism attraction in that it gives the visitor/tourist a feel of nature while telling the history of the people at the same time.

But there is a concept missing in the management of this site and that is SUSTAINABLE TOURISM. This is a concept where by a destination site is managed in such a way that its resources are not depleted/exhausted by the current generation but used and conserved for future generations. Suffix it to say that this site should be properly conserved and managed bearing in mind that it belongs to the future generation.

Accessibility: when we talk about accessibility what jumps to mind immediately is road networks and cars but in tourism, accessibility is way more than that, it involves the movement of visitors from the place of residence to the destination as well as within the destination. It’s no news that the town of Idanre does not have its own trans route as well as its own cab service, what they rely on is the commercial bikers locally called “Okada”.

This in itself poses a threat to tourism service in the town. In some cases, the means of transportation itself serves as a the main or supplement attraction in a site, for instance, transportation is the main source of attraction when it comes to Cruising the seas or ocean while the cable car such as witnessed in Obudu cattle ranch serves as a supplement attraction to the cattle ranch itself. Installing a cable car in Idanre hills does not make extinct the stairs used in climb to the top but it offers an alternative to the visitors.

On one of my visits to the site a while back, I met with a British tourist named Dirk, so I struck up a conversation with him, and he said though the hike up the was stressful, his visit to the site was worth the stress and the hike itself contributed to the fun.

Talking more on accessibility within the destination, during this same visit to Idanre hills, there were several attractions in the destination which I and most people who visit the site would have been looking forward to but were disappointed because the guide told us that attractions such as the agboogun footprint were inaccessible. As such, accessibility should be given the utmost importance in Idanre Hills.

Accommodation: including place to sleep or rest as well as the hospitality .i.e. the reception of the local residence towards visiting tourist can go a long way to determine a second visit or recommendation to friends to friends to encourage a first visit. With regards to the aspect, the people of Idanre are lacking only in a minute aspect.

An instance being the visit of some archaeologists to the town a while back and they were sent packing, though my believe is that if they are educated to see the importance of such activities they will learn to make a more enlightened decision towards such situations.

RomanceShe Purrs Softly In My Ears As She Replies Drunkenly by maestro2000(op): 3:53pm On Mar 19, 2017
My name is Mr. Dash and this is my diary. I told you last week that I will be giving you stories of what happens in my life every week. At least one story of what between me and a lady. So basically, I’ll be giving you gist about my se*capades, rompcapades and romancecapapdes.

I started the story of Sope and I two weeks ago. Well, let me just keep going.

I am still holding on to Sope’s a** like my life depends on it and she is looking at me. I just smile when I realize this but she squints and I’m sure of what is coming next. I was going to get slapped. I close my eyes in readiness for the slap but all I get is two soft lips landing on my cheek. I smile like a fool and I tell her, “let me take you home.” She purrs softly in my ears as she replies drunkenly, “yes baby, take me home.” And then she bites my ear playfully and nibbles on it for a second.

I pull her hand and start to stylishly drag her along. She follows me like a pup and she keeps laughing at everything and resting her big b***s on my back. As I pull her along, I realize I have been hard for minutes now and if I could, I would take her right there but hey, that’s just the a**hole part of me talking.

I succeed in pulling her to the road and wait with her while I look out for a bike-man. She is still resting on me and starts to really toy with me. Boy oh boy! This beau is drunk.

I change my mind and decide to hail a cab for us. I sort of push her in the back seat and I get in with her. She leans on me almost immediately and starts to f*ndle and almost the front of my trousers. Thank God I had on a jean trouser because at the rate she was going, maybe my b**ls would have been crushed.

I was just grinning and trying to hold her hand to stop her from destroying my tool. I realized I had to give her something so I held her neck and just started to ki*s her. She was responding with her very wet ki*ses. My, my, my, this babe is drunk.

I went for her b***s and she moaned softly as she removed her lips from mine and started to nibble and s*ck my ear lobe. Oh, shi*! Feels good. I noticed that the cabbie was looking into his mirror and also stealing glances at us, so I stopped Sope. “Babe, hold on! Let’s get to your house.” She replies, “Oh no! Come on, don’t be a spoilsport.” I try again, “We’ll soon get to your house, right?” She exclaims “Oh, my God, we’re almost there!”

See as una eyes come pop-out shocked shocked shocked. Oya click the link below to read what happens next, the concluding part and where my it all started (all uncensored tongue tongue tongue).

I noticed that there was no such jubilation in the entire South West, the East, the Middle Belt and the South South. This is understandable.

Nope you're wrong there, the northerners see everything through the prism and believe that they are "born to rule " an ideology filled in their heads by those British colonial masters.

Judith Emike Audu-Foght, popularly known as Judith Audu is a Nigerian actress, presenter, voice-over artiste, model, blogger and movie producer, renowned for her role as Mofe in the Nigerian television series Emerald alongside Joseph Benjamin, Carol King, Lilian Esoro and Femi Branch. She told us these about herself.

1. Can you tell us about yourself in brief? Your family background? Educational Background too.

Answer: I am Judith Audu. I am a full-time actress based in Lagos, Nigeria. I was born in Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria to a Naval Personnel Father Audu Ali Audu and mother Gift Salamat Audu. My mother was an entrepreneur who owned a chain of restaurants and a rental service for events. I have two brothers, elder brother Franklin Audu and a younger brother Abdulmalik Audu. I am the second child and only daughter. I attended Navy Town Primary School, Ojo, from 1988 to 1993, then proceeded to Navy Town Secondary School from 1993 to 1999, where I majored in Arts. I then went to the Nigerian French Language Village, Badagry in 2001 and got a Diploma that I used in getting a Direct Entry into the University of Lagos in 2002. In 2005, I got a B.A in French from the University of Lagos before I went for the National Youth Service. After my National Youth Service (NYSC) In Kebbi State in 2006/2007, I went back to the University of Lagos and applied for Masters Degree course in Public and International Affairs from 2008 to 2010, where I graduated with a degree in Masters of Public and International Affairs (MPIA).

2. Have you always known that you would be an actress?

Answer: I have always known I will be in front of a camera, thought I would be a broadcaster, then at a point I wanted to be a diplomat and an Actress. So the later became a stronger passion as time went on and I pursued both but Acting was priority.

3. What were the things in your background that prepared you for the present?

Answer: I guess the fact that I joined a troupe in school and from time I had always liked acting. And in my Youth Service, I produced and was also the Presenter of a programme on Kebbi State Television called French For Beginners and I was also the Drama Troupe Director.

4. How did you get into the industry?

Answer: I joined a Theater Group when I was in the University called the Campus Playhouse and I took part in several stage productions, I later auditioned for another troupe called Theater 15 which was the biggest Theater Group in the University of Lagos then. I t was from these theater groups that I learnt a lot and started working with Nigerian television personality Denrele Edun, actor/comedian Koffi and Director Wole Oguntokun.

In 2004, Denrele called me for an audition with Alpha Vision Company and I got my first role in a tv series by Tajudeen Adepetu titled, One Love. In the same year, I registered with Actor’s Guild of Nigeria and they began to call me for auditions, I later got a role in Tears of the Ghetto by Femi Ogedegbe. After that, I took a break because I had to resume back in school. I had the chance to do the film because of a long strike then. I later took part in a children’s series, Funtime, where I played the role of Vanessa.

In 2011, after completing my Masters program, I went for an audition for a role in Tinsel and got the role of a gynecologist, and it has been on and on since then.

5. What has the industry been like?

Answer: It is not an easy industry, but then again no industry is! One has to be very patient, consistent, hardworking, humble, good at networking and be very aware of all that is happening in order to be at the right place at the right time.

6. What was your debut performance and how was the experience?

Answer: Not sure which was my first performance but I think it was one of my literature books titled ‘Qui est Malade’ but the interesting thing was that it didn’t feel like it was my first time, it felt natural and was fun.

7. What has been your most challenging performance? In what way did that constitute a challenge?

Answer: All my performances have been challenging. Each performance comes with its own challenge because the roles are different in each one and you have to approach all differently.

8. What has been your best performance? What did you consider in deciding it was your best performance?

Answer: I am still waiting for it.

9. How many movies have you starred in?

Answer: Several.

LiteratureFrustration And The Frustrated In A Lagos Danfo by maestro2000(op): 12:54pm On Mar 02, 2017
Getting into a public transport in Lagos without enough change is something I usually avoid, except in cases when I do not have any alternative. This was borne out of several experiences with the ‘notorious’ bus conductors who would go as far as hurling insults at whomever for the slightest reason.

This day was one of the few times when I had no alternative but to get on board with my ‘big’ denomination. The bus driver, appearing to be a well presented man who probably had a family and was saddled with a lot of responsibilities or who at some point had a good job but lost it.

He rained curses on his ‘assistant’ at the slightest provocation which were only evidences of his bitterness for the nation, it’s economy and his life, while the latter tried in his best to meet up to his bosses pace. The bone of contention was that too many people like myself had dropped the ‘high’ denominations and the conductor took longer than necessary at each stop to find the aggrieved ‘change. ’A woman with baby on her back and another whom she urged to get into the bus in good time before the driver moved, sat just behind me.

She appeared to be one of those women, married and burdened with the responsibility of taking care of her children and neglected by a husband who would rather dress up like he had some important places to go in the morning,if only to prove to his wife and neighbors that he was up to the task but only to return home in the evenings with lost hopes.

Such women had the churches as their place of solace and their Pastor the role model husband and counsellor who would allay their fears and take them on rounds of unending prayers with groaning and gnashing of teeth in hope that the Supreme being would soon come to their aid and turn things around in a flash. The Pastor’s wife to them was the luckiest woman on earth since they were disadvantaged in having good husbands. Even though they hailed her from time to time ‘Mummy G.O’, silently they bore some envy hoping fate would turn their situation around and have them in ‘Mama G.O’s’ position.

So it turned that myself and this woman who did not stop complaining of how she was running late for evening service, appeared to be those left of the rest of the passengers to face the fiery dart of the fuming driver and the conductor who now protested his bosses’ unfair treatment to him.

As it appeared, we sat still while both parties exchanged curses over our heads. As this woman made to alight, she sent back the curses to the driver seeing this was now her opportunity and physically rubbed her children like the curse had come off with the drivers saliva and stuck to their skin.Seeing I was the only one left, I joined in the woman’s protection mechanism and wiped my skin off the supposed curses mumbling my own prayers as the woman did over her children.

RomanceLADY KALE: A New Start Part.1 by maestro2000(op): 12:43pm On Mar 02, 2017
She put the signpost up and firmly plastered it to the wall of her new shop. It was to read ‘Lady Kale’. It was the way stores were named in United States of America and was unlike the stores in her country. She looked around in disgust as though the surrounding which had become home by compulsion was the whole country itself. She had finally given in to ‘mama agba’s’ constant urging to come back home and find a husband.

At forty-two, she had gotten a huge deal at different shades of men.

Going through divorce twice and being almost married four times, she had resolve within herself that she did not have ‘the good head’ for men. However, Mama Agba was very convincing that her destiny was not tied to living abroad. She had to live and work in the country according to Pastor’s prophecy because she was destined to meet her husband while on her venture.

Kale arranged the last set of milk cans on the top shelf while wondering how she was going to cope with attending to the dirty, stark, illiterates that paraded the streets. Twenty-five years in America had her making the most difficult choice of her life. Abandoning her citizenship, health insurance and other benefits she enjoined. Her attention was drawn back to reality when she saw a big, white Jeep pull up to her store. She had not notice while she was deep in thought as she dropped the last piece of baby clothing and stared in amazement as the driver stepped out.

LiteratureMy Date Episodes: My Encounter With Ken by maestro2000(op): 7:19am On Mar 01, 2017
I walked up slowly down the road, exhausted and eager to see my building in sight. I heard a car horn and as I attempted to make way for it, adjusting to the left side of the road, the car stopped and the passenger alighted. I hissed, ‘so much for only alighting from a vehicle?’

I walked further ahead and the passenger who just alighted, a young boy shabbily dressed, looking quite unfed and unsure of himself walked up to me. ‘Ken said I should call you,’ he said.

‘Excuse me, I pretended not to hear’ ‘Ken said you should come’, he further reiterated. ‘Ken?’

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I looked at him strangely, ‘Who is Ken?’ he pointed towards the car which had pull over to a side of the road. I looked at him with bloodshot eyes and began walking faster. He could be a kidnapper or ritualist,I thought to myself. Just before I walked past the car, I was stopped by a hefty man who looked three times my age and five times my size; the typical Lagos ‘Baba Olowo’. He was well balanced behind the wheels and introduced himself as the ‘Ken’.

I now understood that the young lad was only an emissary and I was prepared that I would scream if anyone appeared from the backseat and tried to force me into the car. Those were the exact forms kidnappings occurred in many of the Nigerian movies I could remember.

I tried to be pleasant so I could walk away but he wouldn’t budge. He asked for a few of my details and it occurred to me that names were still used to call the victims for slaughter in the Nigerian movies I watched as well. I thought of the name my parents forgot to bear me, and almost not thinking of its meaning, I answered ‘Tijesunimi’,(I am the Lord’s) in my mind, the demons would find the name either too long to fathom or that the ‘Jesus’ in it, will send fire and brimstones from heaven on them. My mission was accomplished, my abductor (because he held me bound for almost five minutes) told me he couldn’t remember the name. I told him to try harder and left him to a game of guessing.

RomanceThe First Date Saga by maestro2000(op): 8:12am On Feb 22, 2017
Going on a date in Lagos can be fun especially when you are not ‘hunting for a boyfriend’. So basically it becomes merely honoring an invitation while your feelings and emotions have been carefully stacked, folded and locked up in your closet.

I was later to learn that his name was Mike, it showed how uninterested I was when he told me his name and asked me to punch in my number. If there was anything at all, it was the arrogance with which he pointed the phone at me and the revenge I had cooking up on a part of me on such show of ego.

Without waiting to hear the next line, I walked away with a ‘girly’ pride that was to say to his face ‘you got served’. This was not to be the end of my revenge series.

I was too familiar with such tactics from ‘pride filled’ Lagos boys like him than to be surprised that he didn’t call until after a week, and when he finally did, I acted like I had never come across him on my journey through the planet. I was soon to find out that there was more to his rash display of cheap pride.

The date day, I feigned I could not have thrown at him the pleasant part of me, he was still to be served in his own coin, to realize that there was more than enough pride to fill everyone on the continent.

‘Where do we start from? You or me’, when we finally settled.

Life had not taught me so many lessons, but one of the few was never to give out information so quickly especially in one where I already predicted the beginning as the end.

I was to realize that sitted right before me was a patient who could have probably been suffering from the first stage of ‘maniac depression’. I didn’t choose that hour as work, neither did I plan to offer counselling services, which I was not even qualified to do. I was at best a psychologist for children; an EdPsych.

I listened in disbelief as he reeled before me, his tale of the woes of his failed relationship, which was to be all about his life that revolved around the pain and suffering of what he suffered from his ex.

I knew I was in a fix, I couldn’t offer free professional services but I was compelled, I was again disadvantaged, I was only a psychologist for children. I thought to give this a try as I got my confidence from the popular saying ‘All men are babies’. I needed to mix some doses of infant therapy for my friend who talked about nothing else but how he did his best to date another lady; ‘Opeyemi’ who lived in Fadeyi but that he saw his ex-girlfriend’s image every time he looked at her.

To this end, I knew this had become a case of extreme psychosis which could be tending towards some form of hallucination and to ensure I was not infected with this virus which had spread around my client, I took two handful of ‘suya’ from the bowl we had been served and a full gulp of malt to supply my thinking faculties with more of glucose needed for proper functioning.

I didn’t try to push any further, my client had served himself to different alcoholic mixture and before he lost it, I quickly asked the question ‘where is your girlfriend now?’

‘She is in Idi-Araba’, I clutched my purse to my side, as he picked a call and it ended almost immediately, ‘she doesn’t even sound like she can come and she knows I am here’, I tightened my shoes to my feet’ and asked the lifesaving question ‘how long is it going to take her to get here?’

‘she doesn’t want to come’, he replied’, you can never be sure, I said, more assuring myself than him.

‘After I tried all my best and I saw she wasn’t going to come back, he continued, ‘I told myself, once there is life, there is hope’. I took to the cue and offered his own words as his therapeutic treatment.

‘Once there is life, there is hope’, I echoed back to him.

PoliticsNigerians Will Be Undecided In 2019 by maestro2000(op): 9:25pm On Feb 20, 2017
I was one of the few people who thought I was done with my heart breaking from numerous promises from politicians. However, I felt that as nation we are deeply compassionate and highly generous in dishing out dozens of trust to our politicians. This ‘Febuhari’ also taught me that I could have been perhaps wrong or quick to judge a man whose name nicely fitted to a month where he was to be elected. This was a clear conviction that fate chose this one. I resorted to healing myself of my lack of trust and doubt to joining the ‘bandwagon’ and anticipating the end of the struggles in my nation.

Being an observer to the political era as it unfolds, this comes across to me like the case of an abusive relationship and how the Victim keeps false hope that one day, there would come a ‘change’ for the better. Undeniably she enjoys short-lived moments of power stability while still nursing the pain from her hurt. To her, these were the answers to prayers, her dreams were finally coming true and she was being loved- even if for a little while. When she finally comes in contact with the truth, that she was never loved, except for her endowments, she adds up a digit to the statistics of ‘hard-core’ women who have sworn to have nothing to do with ‘all men’.

I’m not sure if in 2019, many would not shrink owing to dashed hopes and failed promises. Who wants to have their trust shattered again?

BusinessTHE REASON Why Naira's Freefall Against The Dollar Persist by maestro2000(op): 4:54am On Feb 20, 2017
So the naira keeps receiving a beating from the dollar, seemingly unabated and not ashamed. Really it’s interesting how within two years, the naira has depreciated continually, falling from 197 to N518, seeing the naira depreciate massively against the dollar. The recession is really biting deep.

Now nobody needs to be told all this, because we all are witnesses. What we should do to revert this steady depreciation is what I am here to examine. This is why we need to take into context, how we arrived at this point. How we willingly walked into recession, what the government has been doing and what actually should be done.

So first we need to understand how currency exchange works. A currency exchange is the rate at which one currency is exchanged for another. It is also regarded as the value of one country’s currency in relation to another currency.

So why is the naira falling in value against the dollar? The Nigerian Bulletin explains it subtly here.https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/5-strong-reasons-why-naira-will-keep-falling-against-the-dollar.218253/

What has the government and CBN done?

1. Banned 41 items
2. CBN increased interest rates to 14 %
3. CBN floated the Naira
4. And now the CBN will be providing banks with $20 million dollars weekly, while pegging the exchange rate for School fees and PTA (Personal Travel Allowance) at N375
5. And what Mr. President himself said during his independence speech last year which you can read here http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/211720-end-nigerias-recession-buhari.html.

What has however happened has been a skyrocketing of goods and services, a serious concern for security and an apparent “gag” on freedom of speech by security agencies, with the naira taking a serious beating from the dollar and other currencies. Worse is the 2017 budget which sees recurrent expenditure more than capital expenditure, with recurrent expenditure being 2.98 trillion naira and capital expenditure 2.24 trillion naira.

For a more detailed breakdown of the budget you can visit Punchng or Budgit.

Are these going to take Nigeria out of recession? I wouldn’t really know as am not an economist, but I can however juxtapose this administration’s efforts against that of former US president Barrack Obama and how he turned around the dire economic situation of the US.

Some might say the US is far advanced and better structured than Nigeria, but my intent here is to show what was done and how it was done and ponder on why we are not taking that route.

When Obama was sworn-in in 2009, the US economy was in deep recession which had started in 2007 (The Great Recession and Subprime mortgage crisis). Obama’s administration first continued with the banking bail out and most importantly “enacted an $787 billion stimulus program, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)”.

So in essence what did the Obama administration do and what was the outcome?

1. Bail out banks
2. Enacted a stimulus program
3. Enacted the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act
4. Bail out the Automobile industry
5. Extended Tax Cuts and addressing income inequality in terms of Tax Income
6. Reformed Healthcare
7. Keep interest rates low

So the outcome of his measures listed above and those not listed ensured a turnaround of the US economy which had witnessed loss of jobs saw job creation amount to 15.2 million by October 2016.

Now, its easy choosing the US, but like some will rightly point out, the US is a manufacturing giant, bla bla bla.. Yes I know, but the measure taken by the Obama administration can actually be taken by Buhari’s with results. If Buhari is sincere about changing Nigeria, then he should come out with a plan such as that of Obama, and stop this trial by error method.

A critical look at the 2017 budget shows that education takes a back foot compared to other “key” sectors, whilst agriculture does not fare better. Of course, Education gets a budget of 50 billion naira while Power, Works and Housing gets 529 billion naira for their capital expenditure respectively.

Any country hopeful of developing, hopeful of leading the world places premium on Education, Health Agriculture and industry, and one would expect any serious government to set its priorities straight regarding these sectors.

Can Nigeria come out of recession? Can the naira rebound against the dollar? Can the high cost of living reduce? Yes, but only if Buhari can come up with a viable plan just like Obama and implement the plan. Till then the naira will keep falling and the cost of living will keep rising.

Like I said last time, I manage a bar and this puts me in the position where I can meet all sorts of people everyday, especially all sorts of girls.

I am seated with a couple of friends and we’re having drinks and just talking when this buxom lady walks in. She is taller than me and almost fair complexioned and I also notice that she is on low-cut hair. She goes to a table and sits alone. She orders for a plate of assorted peppersoup and a cold bottle of Big Stout and just digs in.

At this point, I am so distracted and cannot hear a word of what the dudes with me are saying. I keep looking at this lady who is dressed in a simple gold and lemon green armless gown and drapes a beige chiffon button-down jacket on it.

I stare at this lady so much that I have to finally get up and go to meet her. “Hello, good evening”. She looks at me like I just said, “I am Obama”, especially when she knows that is a lie.

I keep going, “My name is Dash and I manage this beautiful establishment.” Then, I hear the thinnest voice ever, “My name is Sope.” In my mind, I go, “what the f**k?” but instead, I blurt out, “That’s a rare name and it’s beautiful too.” She just smirks and starts to look down into her cup.

I see she is not interested in my little talk, so I leave her alone and go back to my seat. I call one of my waiters after a while and tell him to give her 2 bottles of Big Stout and open both before she can reject them.

She screams softly when she sees them and just smiles and nods slightly. I call the kitchen staff next and order for the biggest catfish pepper soup for Sope and I just keep chatting with my friends and glancing at her occasionally.

The fish arrives when she is halfway into the second bottle. She is shocked when she is told it is from me and she stands up to come thank me and she says, “thank you so much.” I just smile back at her with my most dashing smile and a slight pout. She looks at me like she does not know what to do and then she turns too fast and staggers slightly. I am very fast and I jump up to steady her. She smiles and I escort her to her seat, leaving my douchebag friends alone with their drinks for company.

When we get to Sope’s table, she shakes her head slightly and says, “are you trying to get me drunk?” I just snicker and the devil in me says, “Bleep yeah.” She smiles again and just delves into the fish. I have ordered that the fish be peppery, so she could take more beer and true to the Grills man’s words, it was peppery. Sope starts to down her beer to douse the fire in her mouth and I am happy inside me.

She calls a barman to open the third bottle and also demands for a bottle of water. She sits upright and goes “aaaaaahhh, oooooooohhh, mmmmmhhhhhmm.” I immediately feel my member reacting to the sound of that and I cannot keep quiet. I just blurt out, “oh please, stop sounding like that.” She replies, “how?” I say, “the oooohhhs and aaaaaahhhs.”

Sope smiles seductively and I see the effect of the alcohol is starting to hit home. She says, “what is it doing to you?” Before I can think of a sane enough answer, she goes, “ooooooooohhhhhh, ooooooo yeeeaaaa, aaaaaaaaaahhhhh.” And then she licks her lips with her tongue. I immediately get up with an excuse to go do something and I try to push back my ass without touching the front of my trouser so she doesn’t get what my aim is but it obviously doesn’t work as she just says in a soft scream, “oh my God, what is that?” She is starting to laugh now and I’m thinking, maybe I have met more than my match.

Then she just stops laughing and says,” maybe I should start leaving.” I really don’t know what to say to that and she just starts to rush her beer, so much that it trickles down her lips and is starting to flow right into the little gap her heavy boobs have created and that just gets me saying, “yes, let me see you off.”

Sope snickers and says, “I thought you were a bad boy, but you obviously are not.” In my mind, I go, “we’ll see.” She suddenly stands up and has apparently gone up too quickly and the next moment sees her losing balance slightly that I have to support her and she says in the tiniest voice for someone that big, “thank you for catching my ass.” It is then I realize that I caught her by her right ass cheek and I’m holding on to it as if my life depends on it. I just smile when I realize this but she squints and I’m sure of what is coming next…

That's the problem, when are we going to get there? people like you and me will go to the mosque on Friday and church on Sunday to pray for Nigeria as if Nigeria is the seat of throne of God. You see advancing countries taking actions and working for development, but an average Nigerian is ok with Garri and sugar and yet we blame the likes of senate president who is involved in 125m naira accomodation sham and Mr yakubu who hid 9.8million dollars in an underground safe, in order to set their generations up financially and live a life of pleasure and fulfillment.

NB: My reply is not in support of this actions, but to open your eyes that if your actions will only be "we will get there" then don't complain and cry foul when people who wants better for themselves steal billions of naira that is meant for you and your offspring.

I know how much i work hard and suffer in order to receive 10dollars per hour inclusive of tax o and yet one man has four safes ( the only one discovered so far has approximately 10 millions dollars, so what should we be expecting from the rest).

Nigerian heartthrob and latest R&B/Soul hot-shot is out on a sensual rampage with his first offering of 2017, the lead single from his previously announced debut album and, this one will DEFINITELY get the ladies! Aptly titled “Already”, this laidback blend of ambient music, trap, African drums elements and skillfully harmonized Yoruba and Pidgin English chants vividly presents a situation involving Blu as a suave loverman trying to woo a beautiful, independent, apparently lonely, lovesick but slightly ego-driven lady with such confidence that erases all doubts.

Coming from “Song About You”, “The Prelude” (the teaser to his upcoming debut album) and “BluPanda”, that hot R&B-flavored remix of Desiigner’s hit “Panda” gifted to his immediate clout of growing fans and new listeners in the later part of 2016, Jasën Blu has clearly found a comfortable angle from which to shoot us this new, deep, conversation-starting masterpiece in the shape of “Already”, which was written, arranged and produced by himself as usual.

Nigeria to launch? I don't think so in the next few decades.

Honestly, if we can tell ourselves the truth, this country had reached is maximum utility point and what is left is diminishing returns.

It can only start another level of growth and development if broken into units.

This county has not even reached 0.05 percent of its utility point. The current crop of politicians can't get us on a right path except you and i stand up for what's rightfully ours.

Don't relent on what i said above even though its the right step to take because our parents will surely rebuke us against such actions ( families are the agents of the puppeteer ) as seen in the recent actions of tubaba
Technology MarketIndia Launches Record 104 Satellites In Single Mission, when Is Nigeria Launching by maestro2000(op): 8:33am On Feb 15, 2017
India has created history by successfully launching 104 satellites on a single mission, overtaking the previous record of 37 satellites launched by Russia in 2014.

All but three of the satellites are from foreign countries, most of them from the United States.

The launch took place from the Sriharikota space centre in east India.

Observers say it is a sign that India is emerging as a major player in the multi-billion dollar space market.

"This is a great moment for each and every one of us. Today we have created history," project director B Jayakumar was quoted as saying by the Reuters news agency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to congratulate the scientists tweeting, "This remarkable feat by @isro is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists."

The phrase "world record" has also been trending on Twitter India for much of Wednesday morning.

The women scientists who took India into space

Why India's commercial space programme is thriving

Of the 104 small satellites, 96 belong to the United States while Israel, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and the Netherlands are the other foreign clients.

A majority of the satellites have earth-imaging capability and belong to a US company named Planet.

An Indian cartographic satellite, believed to be capable of taking high resolution images is also on board. It is expected to be used to monitor regional arch rivals Pakistan and China.

The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says the successful launch is yet another feather in the cap of India's ambitious space programme that has earned a reputation of offering a reliable low cost alternative to existing international players.

The Indian government has increased the budget for its space programme this year and also announced plans to send a mission to Venus.

Over the past two decades, India has become a key player in the lucrative commercial space market offering a low-cost alternative.

THE QUESTION of the day is: when is Nigeria launching its own indigenous satellite considering the fact that the ones it lay claim of currently was launched by the chinese govt ( which almost all of it is obsolete and flying freely in space )

And remember, a learned minister who was representing the government of the day once said in few years time, Nigeria will develop the art of inventing pencils when her junior, Dubai is almost launching flying taxis.

So be it.

It’s such a shame, such a waste when I see how humans waste their entire life on vanity and its most painful when I see them pass away untimely because of their ignorance. Their fore fathers had the right idea, they saw nature for what it truly is: the answer/ provider to all their needs either physically or spiritually.

Today, all they look up to is the white devil’s invention. White devils who perverse nature and defile the ways of the old which could never have been better before they arrived.

Sorry I got carried away, it’s just too sad to see how the Yoruba society has descended into chaos in the name of civilization.

But what is civilization if not a multi-faceted entity with each phase the upliftment of and acceptance of a people’s way of life and not the gradual process of eliminating piece by piece the core principles, beliefs, customs, rites and tradition of a people.

What do I know about modernity anyways when I thrive in the wild? At least that’s the belief of Olukoso and the rest.

I have learnt my lesson though it took me an arm, eye and leg to. Jealousy has no hold on me again, and I mourn the death of my son daily, who died because of my arrogance.

Doing good now seems to be my strong suit which is why I created the Omiero, a holy liquid consisting of many herbs, liquid through which all Saints and ceremonies have to go through.

I have done more good watching over the sick and bringing them back to life than any other god, I have seen humanity at its worse yet I stand by them and nurse them back to good health, even babaluaye can’t claim such feats.

He claims he knows the knowledge of all plants and which cure which sickness or diseases but all he does is refer them to me. The Ebola would have been the end of him had I not stepped in. how can you claim to know all plants when you are not one with nature.

That’s why I am sooth for in the shell of the coconut. Even as I speak with you, I help nurse oko Aisha back to health.

I cure madness in the twinkle of an eye, small pox turn to goose bumps in my very presence, HIV defects to white blood cells with just a single touch of my hand, yea, you can say I have got that Midas touch.

CelebritiesWill Tuface Be Singing “e Be Like Say” At The Planned February Protest by maestro2000(op):
Will Tuface be singing “E be like say” at the planned February 5th protest? if he will be, please let us remind him that no be say “e be like say” “but e done be”.

This is because the politicians have told us wetin we never hear before and they have many times asked that we put the whole of our trust in them and yet so many times they have betrayed and played us for a fool, with their galala new dance old steps intertwined with a new fusion of sound track.

The politicians have flipped their middle finger at us and told us to go Bleep ourselves, because they believe they are doing us a favor. I mean all we have to do is look at the many failings of the present government. We will get to that in a bit.

I would like first to attend to the issue of naysayers who have come out hell bent on ensuring this planned protest does not take place. Since this announcement, we have seen accusations from some quarters that Tuface is being sponsored by a former governor, and also a presidential aspirant.

Lending their voice to this is a certain professor, and former band member and friend blackface. Let me quote Dante first here ‘The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who, in a time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.’”

What is worse than neutrality is those who throw the first stone acting as though they are saints. Blackface has faced accusations of jealousy with his “illiterate” posts. I doubt he will anytime soon contribute to public discourse except of course he is shameless.

To the professor, I must say that taking into account the process it took for him to become a professor; he certainly doesn’t act like one and is unbefitting to be called a professor.

He slept with countless women who were consenting adults, who cares? I am certain we can get people who will testify that same professor forced them to buy handouts or had sex with him to pass.

It is easy forgetting the skeletons we have in our own cupboards when we are attempting to pull someone down. Must it take an “illiterate” to make us do that we ought to do?

So with a planned solidarity rally slated for Buhari for same day as Tuface’s protest, we really need to start asking ourselves questions about what we really want for our future and that of the unborn generation.

I personally if you ask me will tell you this solidarity rally is just to score cheap points, this is because Tuface’s protest bothers on the issue of governance and the precarious situation we find our economy in.

Meaning we careless if it were Buhari or any other person being president. This protest is a protest against all things bad happening right now and if the best move to check mate the protest is a solidarity rally for the president with emphasis on corruption, then whoever is organizing the rally needs to have his/her brain checked. This is because so far there has been no conviction except of course on the front pages of newspapers.

Worse is the president “endorsing” corrupt practices by attempting to clear the names of top ranking officials charged with corrupt practices. It is true what Senator Shehu Sani said about the perfume and deodorant, and this is just one of the reasons we must take a stand.

Must we become refugees in our own country where we cannot talk for fear of being invited by the DSS, where we are being killed by Fulani herdsmen who are then paid by witless governors not to kill us? Where is justice when we are harassed by the police, by the Discos, by marketers of fuel and gas?

CelebritiesRmd,mel Gibson, tunde Kelani, Are My Role Models Says Nollywood Actor Wole Ojo by maestro2000(op): 10:07am On Jan 27, 2017
Megasblog meets with Wole Ojo, Actor Extraordinary

The Amstel Malta Box Office Show has given Nollywood a lot of prolific and professional actors and actresses, like OC Ukeje, Ali Nuhu, Tonto Dikeh and so on. The 4th edition in 2009 produced a winner. His name is Wole Ojo. He appeared in Amstel Malta’s “The Child” and was nominated for Most Promising Actor Award for his performance in it. He had these to tell us about himself.

1: Can you tell us about yourself?

Wole: I am Adewole Ojo and my screen name is Wole Ojo. I was born in 1984 on the 6th June to Mr and Mrs Abiodun Ojo. I grew up in Bar Beach Police Barracks. I attended Police Children School, Obalende and also Command Children School, Bonny Camp Victoria Island and St. Gregory’s college, Ikoyi and I went to the Univeristy of Lagos and I am a graduate of Creative Arts.

2: Have you always known that you would be an actor/actress?

Wole: Yes! Always. I fell in love with acting early in life, I grew up in front of the tv watching shows like Fresh Prince, the Cosby show, the Second Noah, Rags to Riches, Family Matters, Out All Night, and so on. These shows formulated what I will call my first source of acting classes. I was also crazy about cartoons and I still am (shrugs). But I have plans to obtain a degree in law in the near future.

3: What were the things in your background that prepared you for the present?

Wole: Like I said, watching those shows and picking up a lot of things from them and always criticizing actors and actresses on Nigerian children shows. Also, mimicking people and trying to get them right.

4: How did you get into the industry and what has the industry been like?

I started out early around the age of nine, I remember I used to be hooked on the tv show titled Kidivision 101 and I would critic every actor on it. My mum (God bless her) challenged me to do better. I got to audition for a role in the programme at the NTA office on Ahmadu Bello way which was very close to my house then, and this was made possible through the help of two friends Imoh (who’s late now, may his soul rest in peace) and Uyime who is now a DJ (DJ Picasso). So, in the 90’s, I featured in children’s series; ‘Kidivision 101’ and hit family sitcom ‘One Big Family’ both aired on NTA. These two engagements spanned across a period of six years. I have also featured in a few television series which include; The Maze, Everyday People, One Love, This Life, Dear Mother, Havilla and Haven and i am presently on Tinsel.

The industry is a collage, thus it’s mixed with bitter and sweet experiences and I have had a fair share of both.

5: What was your debut performance and how was the experience?

My debut screen performance was playing the role of Benson, a camera man in ‘Kidivision 101’, I was 9 at the time. I remember I was quite nervous, but when the director said the magic word “action” I let loose and didn’t look back and months after I was made a major character “Ochalla” in the same show, which I went on to play for about 5 years.

6: What has been your most challenging performance? In what way did that constitute a challenge?

Wole: I cannot say particularly because all of these performances come with new challenges. However, when I started and I was growing up, it was harder than it is now.

7: What has been your best performance? What did you consider in deciding it was your best performance?

Wole: I can never be the judge of that, I just give all of them my best shot.

8: How many movies have you starred in? Can you name some?

Wole: Honestly can’t remember the exact number but I can name a few “Angel of Micheal”, “Maami”, “Lust”, “Tinsel”, “Façade”, “The Child”, “Finishing Strong”, “When Fishes Drown”, “Brave”, “Aging Gracefully”, “Anita”, “The Hour”, “Taxi”, “The Haven”, and so on.

9: What awards have you gotten and how many in all?

Wole: I have been nominated for quite a lot but I have been able to pick just 1 so far which is the award for the Best Student Actor at the Peak Awards in 2010, (laughs) I guess I still have a lot of improving to do.

10: What makes you different from the others in the industry

Wole: What I will like to call “My individuality” is something every actor has, it’s what makes one different from the next.

11: Who are your models in the industry?

Wole: Ah! Very many ooo… (laughs)

Mel Gibson, Tunde Kelani, Will Smith, James Cameron, Izu Ojukwu, Steven Spielberg, Ramsey Nouah Jnr., Sam Dede, RMD, and so on. Very many oh… (laughs)

12: What other businesses or profession do you have outside this?

My world revolves around showbiz but I’m also into social networking and business dealings.

13: Would you want your child to pick up acting?

Most definitely.

14: People think actors and actresses don’t have successful marital lives. Do you think this is so? What has been your own experience?

Wole: Well, it all has to do with the individuals involved and it happens to everybody but when it happens to actors, they are celebrities, so the case gets celebrated.

15: What is your social life like and what do you do when not acting?

Wole: It’s pretty normal and simple. I like the simple good things of life. When I’m not acting I do a lot, fun, work, family, business and so on.

16: Do you play games or sports? What game or sports do you play?

Wole: Oh yeah, I play FM, Football Manager. (Laughs)

17: What is the difference between the real you and you on set or stage?

Wole: A lot! I’m Wole Ojo but on set or stage I take up any character I am supposed to depict.

18: What roles can you not play? What can you not do in your art?

Wole: Hmmmm… I’m very daring so that’s a tough one. However, I would say any role that I cannot play any role I would consider detrimental to my image.

19: Are you thinking of retirement soon?

Wole: No, not at all.

PoliticsKilling The Nigerian Mockingbird by maestro2000(op): 9:46am On Jan 16, 2017
They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again and when they do it — seems that only the children weep.

– Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird

Since independence, the Nigerian mockingbird has been dealt deathblows and none worse than during this present age. For most people who do not know about the mockingbird, it is a symbol of innocence. Killing the mockingbird is killing innocence.

Withered flower
Some might ask how it is so. It’s quite simple. Innocence represents the youth, the future of a nation, which must be safeguarded at all costs. Sadly, the youths have always had to withstand the worst of all decisions taken by those who are supposed to secure their future, and guide them.

Recently, a video of a boy who wanted to become a “yahoo yahoo” went viral; he wanted to “sha se” a slang known to mean ‘dupe whites’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaKfu8_bIYo

Of course, it’s a reflection of the society the boy lives in, but he got an endorsement deal. That’s right, an endorsement deal for wanting to become a criminal.

It’s funny that some people are “keying into his testimony” and claiming God has answered the boy’s call. Like really?

At independence, the likes of Azikiwe, Gowon, and Obasanjo were aged 59, 32 and 39 respectively when they led the country and they killed the mockingbirds of their generations. Today those we have as leaders show the scarcity of mockingbirds.

Sadly, the mockingbirds of this age are not innocent and have no need for values that define a country. Today’s mockingbirds can be found on twitter or instagram, begging celebrities for money, trading insults over ethnicity or religion, reacting to gossips etc.

Looking ahead, one can be frustrated about the dire state of the country and wondering if there is hope for the unborn generation. This is because the future is the present, which was our past and is threatening to uproot the very fabrics of this nation.

Would we drop this toga of ‘killers of innocence’ and work together towards securing the future? Please share your views in the comment box below.

Foreign AffairsRodrigo Duterte : Strong Man Of The Philipines by maestro2000(op):
Rodrigo Duterte is the new strong man of the Philippines and he is walking the talk. Duterte who was voted in due to his pledge to develop marginalized and develop rural areas has been criticized by his crack down on drug lords and offenders.

Rodrigo Duterte who was sworn in as president on June 30 2016, apparently has not allowed himself to be swayed by sentiments or “factors” in his quest to better the lot of his people which I believe our very own president Buhari can borrow a leaf from.

Just recently he got the two biggest telecoms companies PLDT and Globe telecoms to reduce their interconnection rates ensuring that his people would be charged less for class while here in Nigeria the regulator is attempting to ensure increase in data prices.

Rodrigo Duterte has also recently signed in his budget for 2017 and “”[The budget] includes the sizeable increase in allocation of infrastructure project, free education for state universities and colleges, universal healthcare, rice allowance for the poor, free irrigation subsistence, allowance for prisoners, pension for war veterans, and centenarians”

The budget will see tuition in state colleges and irrigation for farmers free. Next year, the education department’s budget will rise over 32% percent to 544 billion pesos, making it the biggest allocation. The social welfare department’s budget will rise 15.8% to 128.3 billion pesos.

Comparing this budget to President Buhari’s first budget which was mired in controversy due to being padded, we can assert that Rodrigo Duterte is focused on education and alleviating farmers. Meaning Buhari should put his money where his mouth is and focus primarily on education and agriculture as these two will ensure that Nigeria’s future is secured. Having our educational system revamped is a matter of urgency and ensuring farmers produce more than enough for the nation should be our government’s priority, with emphasis laid on storage and distribution.

This is not to say that Duterte is without baggage. His confession albeit termed a joke by his media aides of being complicit in murder has tainted his administration and his hard crack down on the drug business has claimed casualties with the media stating that most are collateral damage.

What appeals is the determination of a man to better the lot of his people, which appears to be in sharp contrast with the situation we find ourselves. Buhari might have meant all he promised during the campaign period but his failures so far have been a lack of will, an economy being run further more into recession, a lack of compassion to the “cries and hurts” of his people and an abysmal fight against corruption. We hear corruption is fighting back, but so far there has been no single conviction against any corrupt individual, and the president is surrounded by men of suspicious characters with the toga of corruption apparently wrapped around them.

Rodrigo Duterte has his faults and only time will tell if he will succeed or not, but he has certainly started on a strong note whereas our President appears to be struggling to get on his feet.

I congratulate all of us for successfully pulling through all the challenges of the outgone year, no doubt it was quite challenging for a good number of individuals and families having to endure a nation in recession nationally and at sub regional level of our state, all kinds of happenings and occurrences from the simple to the absurd.

In all we survived and here we are at the beginning of another year, to God be all the glory for sparing our lives and as customary let me wish us all a very happy new year.

My fellow Ekitis before we get into our busy schedules and demanding routines may I request most respectfully that you oblige me five minutes of your very precious time.

I desire to ask a question that I believe is beyond partisan dictates and transcends any social inclination and very critical to understanding where we are, or should be, and possibly help to shape how to get there, peradventure we are not there, and as we make individual new year resolutions maybe we may be inclined to also have corporate new year resolution if kept to strictly that will make our state and our people better, which is the aim of new year resolutions in the first place.

The simple question I desire to ask is to help us undertake a self-audit as a people and state to ascertain how far we have come in our 20years ?where we are? What we have done right and wrong? Could we have done better? Could life have been better for us? All of these questions and the answers should eventually fit into the broader question of what is the picture of Ekiti that we see?.

May I plead that this message be not lost in the general condemnation that goes with messages tainted with bias that could include my aspiration to contest for the gubernatorial seat of our dear state or the party I belong to, rather to prick our conscience regardless of our partisan leanings, social and societal standing, and jolt us from our seeming collective numbness, reverie and possibly amnesia about our need to restore our pristine identity.

Every nation , or people bounded by the same fate and fortune would at one time or the other have to connect their future with their past, so they will call for introspective reflections, even individuals also do, the story of the prodigal son in the bible expressly attests to this, having come to the end of himself after days of frolicking and prodigious lifestyle the bible recalls that he ‘’came to himself’’ and took a decision to return home to his father and his destiny took a different trajectory from that point.

The point here is that he reflected and in his moment of introspection over his past matched against his present and seeing that the future may look gloomy if he continued on that track the ‘’picture of himself and his future that he saw upon his reflections’’ prompted action to return home.

I dare say at such a time I honestly think we have come as a people and state and this has informed my New Year message with the title WHAT PICTURE OF EKITI DO WE SEE GOING FORWARD?

I was born in Ekiti at Ile Abiye hospital , a missionary hospital owned by the Anglican communion, toward the end of the 60s, back then, we also had Maria Assumpta Hospital both in Ado Ekiti, then these were hospitals of choice, there was only one noticeable private hospital then I guess , I think owned by Dr Adesokan, but considered a little pricey and there was no recourse to go there because between Ile Abiye and Maria Assumpta whatever the medical challenge would be fixed, very low infant and maternal mortality rate, procedures were carried out successfully at affordable costs, forty something years ago.

I lived the first twenty two years of my life in Ekiti unbroken, just occasional trips to Ibadan and Lagos, went to Christ Nursery and Primary School, then L.A Aafin Primary School Ado Ekiti where my late mother was a teacher, and then to St Phillips A primary School in Aramoko Ekiti and thereafter the great Christ’sSchool Ado Ekiti. I never went to a Montessori, never went to Adesoye or Olashore , to crown it all ended at the then Ondo State University , Ado Ekiti now EKSU, never went to any ivy league University in Nigeria or anywhere on the planet , but today by the grace of God I can modestly hold my own against anybody who had the privileged background that these other institutions would seem to have or convey.

In education then , several people graduated with distinctions in WASC i.e 7 straight As, and in A’ Levels straight As in the four subjects, and many superb results from WAEC, these were the days when nobody dare approach a teacher to ‘’settle’’ them with any form of material gratifications be you parent regardless of who you are and least of all a student. Sons and daughters of the ‘’big men and women’’ struggled to gain admission into Christ’s School Ado Ekiti, coming from everywhere, from the present day Edo and Delta States e.g the like of Macaulay Iyayi, Imo Itsueli former M.D Dubril oil, MD Pinnacle Commercial Bank, and many others from all over the places, common entrance exams to same Christ’s School Ado Ekiti had an examination centre in United Kingdom!!!

I dare say education was at its beautiful best. The other schools around at that time, no pun intended or derogatory intentions, pulled their weights, Eyemote Grammar School,in Iyin Ekiti, Egbeoba Grammar School in Ikole Ekiti, Ado Grammar School in Ado Ekiti for instance gave us somebody of the stature and profile of Distinguished Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Notre Dam Grammar School in Usi Ekiti, or Doherty Memorial in Ijero Ekiti all of these gave us so many distinguished personalities that you find in the age brackets of 45 and 60 that could hold their own against any of their contemporaries anywhere on the planet. That is the Ekiti that I knew.

I had alluded to the great medicare standard in the 1960s for the ordinary and regular people in Ekiti back then too. Now for commerce and enterprise , we had icons that dotted the Ekiti Landscape, all of a sudden our present situation has effectively masked our own home grown all time greats who were successful business people, for instance, Late Baba Omolayo { I’m told his modesty made him decline several chieftancy title offers} he was a successful business man with a printing press like no other in the then Ondo State, he later donated a gigantic edifice to the University, even though he never went through formal education all his life!!!

We all of a sudden have forgotten Baba Anisulowo, home based and groomed businessman per excellon of the days of yore in Ekiti, he gave us Anisulowo Superstores, then our own equivalent of today’s Shoprite, it was indeed a delight going through the store then, the first one in Ekiti where you paid at electronic till!!! He was a successful businessman, then all major events had Baba Anisulowo as Chief Launcher or had a role that recognized his economic worth.

Anisulowo superstores was a precursor to Juli Pharmacy and stores which came in much later both operated side by side, devoid of animosity or bickering, Juli Pharmacy owned by our own boyishly good looking national icon Julius Ademiluyi , a trained pharmacist.

How do we forget somebody who seemed to confirm the assertion of what a man can do , a woman can do almost as good on the Ekiti economic circuit at the time, I recall with so much fondness our own business woman of repute Mama Jinadu , a cement merchant that serviced the then Ondo State and beyond, if you had the misfortune of going to the Union Bank or First Bank on Monday morning then , you run the risk of waiting in long line before getting to the teller because all the tellers and other staff were busy counting sales coming from Mama’s shops and distributors from the previous weekend. Mama will sometimes be in the branch manager‘s office, in her Ankara , a tiny gold necklace , contrasting with her beautiful face and dark skin.

The branch manager would dare not sit down until Mama’s money was fully counted and entered into the ledger, while in the same breath she was raising bank draft for another cement consignment. An exemplification of enterprise and industry even in those days. That is the Ekiti I knew and grew up from.

Of course I cannot forget Chief Obayemi a government contractor who delved into murky waters of politics and fell victim of the 1983 unfortunate political imbroglio and upheaval, there were many others in other areas like Fakehinde Blocks , later Little by Little photos, the famous Bisi Books originally from Ibadan owned by the prominent Aladejanas from Iworoko and many more business successes of those times. Rugged Entrepreneurs of Ekiti at that time. This was a part of our history. That is the Ekiti I knew.

I must not forget to add that Ekitis had a strong significance stature back then worthy of getting an ever green track from Commander Ebenezer Obey and his Miliki Band, when he sang, ‘’ awon omo Ekiti won nkawe won mura, Ado Ekiti to fi de Ijero Ekiti, Ijero Ekiti to fi de Aramoko, Oga ni won je won nkawe won mura, Governor Adebayo Ekiti , Ekiti me le gbagbe Ekiti. My emphasis on ‘’OGA NI WON JE NWON NKAWE WON MURA’’, it need be noted that this was sang by Ebenezer Obey in the 1960s!!! We earned that epaulet as a people for our reknown and legendary reputation in academic excellence, we at some point had the sobriquet ‘’the state that breeds professors’’, one house one professor it was so touted!!! That is the Ekiti I knew. What is the picture today?

I heard a gist that in the early to mid 1960s also, that at a forum which had Ozumba Mbadiwe and Nnamdi Azikwe , the revered Zik of Africa in attendance , introduction of attendees was called for , and it was reported that the fiery Ibadan politician in the person of Chief Adelabu Adegoke alias Penlemesi {taken from peculiar mess} in a fit of agitation said’’ ee ma lenje Asikiwe, Mbadiwe, boba d’iwe Ekiti o ka o’’, funny but goes to attest to our history and reputation as a people.

Translated to mean ‘’ some of you will say you are Azikwe, some Mbadiwe, and by Yoruba lexicon ‘’IWE’’ means ‘’BOOK’’ so if you say you are books Ekitis will read you!!!

This is the Ekiti I knew. Is this the same story or spectacle today?

I dare anybody to conduct a test among our young folks today and ask who Professors Bodunrin, Osuntokun and Sam Aluko were. Or ask who Lady Jibowu was? Or who Architect Fola Alade is? Or Abiodun Adetiloye, beyond being a Primate of the Anglican Communion. I have conducted these tests severally and 90 percent of the people I surveyed did not know these Ekiti icons, what they represented, the best that was known about Lady Jibowu is the building named after her in Ekiti state government house!!! Who she was nobody knew!! A bureaucrat of no mean repute. These persons alongside others gave us our reputation, identity and profile and with that our corporate respect as Ekitis.

My fellow compatriots kindly indulge my stretching you and taking your time unjustly but I am passing this message out, because I am indeed very disturbed and concerned, our identity as Ekiti people and individuals has been switched, swapped and swarmed that we now have an identity crisis. The younger generation do not know the real Ekiti personae anymore. Little wonder that their career aspirations are stunted by unscrupulous persons particularly politicians who remember them prelude to and on election days and thereafter they are left in the labyrinth of helplessness or hopelessness and by extension the Ekiti of future and amortization of our reputation and identity.

History has showed beyond doubts that when a people lose their identity their path to greatness is truncated, their future mortgaged. The case of the Jews will suffice. The successes recorded by the Jews particularly in the United States of America today is attributable to the resistance to the dilution of their core identity, pristine values and essence of the Jews which is carefully protected against the daily rampage of westernisation.

There is no doubt that politics, politicians and political activities have done a lot of hurt and mess up our pristine identity as a people of pride, factual, integrity driven, industrious in our own ways all that have given way to political expediency driven by political marauders across parties who all that matters is politics of the end justifies the means.

To allude to our intergrity as a people , in 1983 we fought to defend the election of a non indigene of Ekiti as Governor, Ekitis stood by the votes given to Chief Adekunle Ajasin as against our own son Chief Akin Omoboriowo!!!.

The resolve was keen and that led to the unfortunate development of loss of lives and property, I am not aware that Chief Obafemi Awolowo mandated us to go that route!! Today divisive tendencies are being introduced to rip us apart for political expediency that does not promote our homogeneity, spirit of oneness and togetherness among Ekiti people rather the selfish and narrow ambitions of politicians and barracuda entrenched interests. Our people, their welfare, well-being, development remain the pawns on their chessboard

I grew up to know that one of the favourite sayings of Ekiti people is ‘’olowo ki se Olorun asiri e lo bo’’i.e a rich man is not God he is just privileged, today that virtue is gone as political marauders have impoverished not only the pockets of the people but importantly their minds to the extent that Ekitis now queue on the streets for food, tokens and indeed pieces of cake!!!

We have being robbed of our dignity to becoming a state of internally disoriented people {IDP}. The young ones and even elders are lined up to collect pieces of cake and not given support structures to enable them to be able to bake their own cakes on their own next birthdays not to talk of in future.

Way back in Christ sSchool Ado Ekiti, we got free books, school uniforms in two sets with house wear, ate good food to be able to come out in flying colours , I never for once saw the lamp posts or bill boards at that time carrying self-adulatory messages of those as achievements by Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, My Parents who were teachers never complained that they never got paid, indeed my father as a School principal sent my mother a school teacher to Murray House College of Education in Scotland out of his earnings as a school principal. Those were days. The Ekiti I knew.

The lives and reputation of the compatriots that I have mentioned here, the list is by no means exhaustive should bring us to begin a crusade for moral rectitude and rearmament as a people and prompt us to begin to ask critical questions if our future must be safe and secure for us all, their lives should inspire and motivate the present and future generation, we need to get our future back and one of the ways to go about that is to look at the picture of our state in the past ,what it presents today and what it portends in the future.

Today who are the modern day role models for our next generation in Ekiti? Is it politicians across the spectrum whose lives reek of dirt and odoriferous stench? Those who would rather fester their own nests with commonwealth, take advantage of the weak, sow and infirm to feather their nests without scruples, whose conscience are fettered? those who deliberately award big ticket contracts that has no direct impact on improving the socio economic realities of the people rather with a view to milking the system under a guise of performance, while hospitals are not in top shape, education is in derelict shape, those to deliver public service are in the throes of pains.

To my mind we need to review our situation and ask where our moral compass has been thrown or the direction it’s pointing, if we don’t NOW the future may be bleak.

Our fate, fortunes and future as a people is hanging precariously and we must be honest to admit that the picture as I see it may not be reassuring, it is not solely about the present political leadership at the state, but leadership at levels.

I also believe in what is often said that the fate, fortunes, future of a people is TOO SERIOUS TO BE LEFT TO POLITICIANS who in the main are concerned with winning elections, which they see as war and deploy all means both fair and otherwise, mostly otherwise to prosecute the warfare and at the end of the day the uppermost thing on their minds is how to share the spoils of war!!! Leaving the people to live with their sorrows and pains!!! Is this picture of Ekiti we want to continue?

This New year message is therefore a call to action, individuals, corporate sector, from Ita Awure to Itapaji, from Emure to Erijiyan , from Churches to Mosques, Market squares to Palaces, Primary Schools to the Ivory towers, from Civil Service to Private Sector this is a call to action .

We certainly need to get our state back, by this I DO NOT MEAN A POLITICAL PARTY BUT TO RESTORE THE EKITI IDENTITY of a state of pride and a well-earned respect for conduct and practices that reflects our pristine values and reputation.

As we think of our future with the above submission in mind, the indices of individual character and reputation must be factors that whoever will lead us henceforth into our future must find it easy to present for all to see and assess, not divisive political expediencies of places of birth, and not titles of former this or that, because titles do not have and cannot give life but reputation and character lives for posterity.

I will end by reminding us of the scripture the says ‘’…thou shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free… I dare add that the application of the truth that we know is the guarantee of our freedom.

Lastly the second stanza of our national anthem says, ‘’ O God of creation, direct our noble cause {such as I have tried to espouse here} guide our leaders right, help our youths the truth to know……

Once again I wish all my compatriots a beautiful year, I wish our dear state the very best in 2017 and beyond. God bless our dear State.

Yours

Celebrities“brother Jekwu”, A Huge Load Of Crap by maestro2000(op): 10:14pm On Dec 17, 2016
Mike Ezuruonye is one veteran in the history but has not been known to do comedies too much. He is always very serious and one of the most dashing men in the Nigerian movie industry. He has endorsements from a number of companies and is definitely one of the richest actors at the moment.

Therefore, it was easy for people to flood the cinemas to go watch his new comedy, “Brother Jekwu” to see what he wanted to dish out. I also joined the throng to watch this movie few days back an boy oh boy, was I disappointed.

No, this is not criticism, this is me saying, the movie was a major disappointment, a huge load of bull and a slamming wave of total let down.

Except for the fact that yea, he celebrated Naira Bet, Kaycee, Harry Song, E Money and co and yea, he did the movie majorly in Kenya, i got nothing else from the movie.

The camera angles were disturbing, the camera movements too were disturbing. His so-called earthquake english was outright annoying and the dialogue was watery. Some of the scenes were too irrelevant and me wonder what was happening and some of the acting was just childish. All in all, Mike, what the heck were you thinking?
I don’t want to keep ranting even though I still have lots of things to say but truth be told, I had a good laugh at some points.

So, on to the next one Mike.

PoliticsRe: Bill To Regulate Entreprenuers Passes Second Reading In Senate by maestro2000(m): 7:48am On Dec 04, 2016
ChimaAdeoye:
The Fulani guys are seriously plotting how to pauperize Nigerians and control everything.

Notice that Buhari only invited Dangote to use the avenue of "Federal Government" to get favorable investment deals from Morocco. The question is "Is Dangote the only business man in Nigeria?" NO

I have said it and will repeat, the more we allow these infringements, the more we will wake up someday and find we have been caged in a jail.

Let us call these crazy attempts by their true name and fight those behind them openly in the streets and everywhere.

It's either this country is free for all, or it must disintegrate no matter what.

In as much as you're on point about dangote not being the only man or business man in Nigeria, this has been going on for like ever. Don't forget obasanjo started this when he impose rice importation and allow only dangote to import, don't forget the ban and tax imposed on cement production and importation that only the same said man has the license to operate without tax. Don't forget the sacks of rice that was brought to the floor of the Senate (which contains money) to bribe for a stupid bill to be passed in his favor. And don't forget this occurred even during the time of Yaradua, and goodluck Jonathan.

Let's just accept the fact that this man knows his onions around the corridor of power that's why I am not surprised to see femi otedola clinching on to him.

Do not forget that dangote was right inside the aso rock with Jonathan when the election results start coming in, and he took off when it's glaring that Jonathan lost. He is just playing his game and he has all the legislootors in all the geopolitical zones in Nigeria his traits remind me of Carlos slim.

He has a telecommunications license that he bought for 500million dollars and till date it's not operating but he is making profits from it.

Until you and I stop bringing our complaint and wars to nairaland or Facebook And actually start standing up for our right and take the fight to the real world and stop fighting a virtual war, this man will keep on making billions and get away with it.
PhonesData Hike: Ncc And It’s Theatrics by maestro2000(op): 1:38am On Nov 30, 2016
Some days ago, I was shocked to read online that the Nigerian Communications Commission had mandated all Telecoms to review their data prices starting from December 1st. Now these Telcos have no choice but to follow any directive given them by NCC.

However, there is urgent need now to examine NCC and its role so far in the Telecommunications sector in Nigeria. NCC describes itself as “the independent National Regulatory Authority for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. The Commission is responsible for creating an enabling environment for competition among operators in the industry as well as ensuring the provision of qualitative and efficient telecommunications services throughout the country.”

Funny though how they appear to be adept at stifling the growth of the telecommunications sector in Nigeria. These past couple of years has seen strange decision taken by supposed “experts” who have ensured that the customer pays more than what he should for services.

Let’s start with their directive some 3 years back, 2013 to be precise when they stated that no Telco (specifically MTN) should charge below 10kobo per second for each calls. 3 years later, no calls have been charged less than 10kobo.

Fast forward to 2016, data prices crashed due to Glo introducing cheaper data plans and the whole country was better off for it, now imagine the incredulously NCC introducing a new data tariff that would see subscribers on all the Telcos pay much higher than obtainable. Its just mind boggling and disgusting.

Makes you wonder who sits down and makes these rules that do not favor the consumer. The consumer is always the King and has a right to make a choice and does not need the “regulator” hiking price just to suit their nefarious purposes.

Have the so called regulators bothered to find out how their “policy” affects the economy? Let’s start with Technology. Mark Zuckerberg paid a visit to Nigeria, and the first place he visited was CC Hub, showing you that one of the richest men on earth values and understands the importance of technology. Now there are up and coming web and app developers who were relieved to see data prices come down as they got to have more access to important resource they need which can only be found on the internet which the NCC now figures should not be so.

Bloggers who rely mostly on Adsense will now find it harder as their cost of running the blog shoots up, not to mention electricity price hike, fuel price hike. I mean seems to me that NCC never thought this through.

Now to the most important, Social Media users. Already conspiracy theories are flying around that the government of the day is looking to stifle criticism. This move by the regulator will see increased outrage against it and the government. Of course increasing data plans will of course reduce usage, which translates to lesser patronage for the Telcos.

So who stands to gain? Free basics is one subtle gainer. There are other gainers like the The FG, “small telcos” and of course NCC who will find it easy fining any telco found guilty of “not complying”. However we would surely know when new data prices come into effect on December 1st.

What we could do is not sign a petition, not occupy, no , those methods don’t work in this country. We need to teach the regulator and the regulated a lesson. We need to boycott their services. Of course most of us won’t want to go so extreme but we need to be assertive, and let them know that the end user of the services is the consumer who ultimately pays from his pocket. A boycott is the answer, they will certainly listen to that.

Jobs/VacanciesDo Not Take The N-power Job If… by maestro2000(op): 11:55am On Nov 28, 2016
Wait a minute!

Am I telling you to refuse a job opportunity in this recession? Yes, I am, with conditions attached.

Is the N-Power job one of the best things this government has put forward? Only time will tell.

Am I a member of the opposition who badmouths everything done by the change government? No, I am not. My job does not allow partisanship.

I am a young Nigerian experienced enough to show concern and advise people about accepting government jobs. You might be one of the many young unemployed Nigerians who will probably take any job especially a federal government opportunity. However, think it through very well.

Do not join the N-Power program …

If It Does Not Align With Your Dreams and Aspirations

We are young people who have dreams and hope to achieve them within the confines of Nigeria and her challenges. However, after many failed job interviews, we drop to the level of taking any opportunity we can grab (like contract jobs with some terrible Asian companies in Nigeria).

Many have been there, many are still there and more will join the train.

Yet, these dreams and aspirations do not go away; they always return after you get the job and earn money. This is when desperation sets in, and you wish you never took the job. If N-Power program will destabilize your personal goals, please think well before making a decision.

If You Believe N-Power is an Opportunity to Earn Easy Money

You might be thinking this is an opportunity to eat out of the national cake, that you can be lazy and unpatriotic like most civil servants and earn your pay. This is Nigeria; I do not doubt the possibility.

However, this is also the 21st century; free salary is becoming less popular in government service. If you think the ‘na government job, I fit do anyhow’ attitude will work, you might be in for a shock. N-Power might be an opportunity to work more for less pay.

Do you remember those lazy teachers that make you teach their classes during your service year? It might happen again. This is why some people think N-Power is an extension of the NYSC.

If The Location Is Not Economically Viable

Do you run a business in a thriving city like Lagos, Ibadan or Enugu? What are your plans for your business if you join N-Power? What if N-Power takes you to places like Lokoja , Gusau or Bakassi where you cannot continue your business or do a side hustle? Think before you accept the job.

Every part of Nigeria has its own opportunities; some just don’t offer widespread economic ones. Some places in Nigeria, even state capitals, are just towns where civil servants thrive and political appointees, directors and permanent secretaries are big men chasing skirts.

If You Think It Must Translate To a Full Time Government Job

I do not wish to be an agent of doom, but N-Power jobs will hardly translate to full time Federal Civil Service job. Government organizations are overstaffed and cost the government a lot of money in salaries and allowances. There is a stronger chance of becoming unemployed again with two years relevant or irrelevant experience than getting a government job.

N-Power is a fulfillment of the political promise to give jobs to youths. The change slogan must continue to rent the air. Just like the different ‘YES’ programs of the states, many unemployed graduates are brought in for a set period, phased out and new ones take their place.

The N- Power program does not suit every unemployed person. Young Nigerians should not let desperation determine their choices. Government offers do not always mean you have inherited a gold mine. Think well!

However, if you decide to take the job, please be patriotic, and offer your best to the country.

PoliticsWould It Have Mattered That Much (ondo Election) by maestro2000(op): 2:24pm On Nov 27, 2016
Would it have mattered that much what Governor Mimiko had said at Akure Airport regarding paying workers salary on Monday if his candidate Eyitayo Jegede is voted in as Governor? Now I don’t subscribe to partisan politics however if truly His Excellency did say that then truly leadership in Nigeria has gone to the dogs.

For a man whose victory at the courts made him Governor, Mimiko has certainly come a long way from the beloved “Gbasibe” to someone who appears desperate to instill a puppet as successor to replace him all in a bid to “escape being questioned” over his term as Governor? Soon the victor will be announced but would it have really mattered if the governor had promised to pay salaries owed over seven months to workers?

These workers earned their salaries so we should understand that the Governor is doing no one any favor by paying what is duly theirs. Infact, its criminal the fact that workers are owed over seven months salaries in the first instance not to mention a promise to pay the salaries dependent on the outcome of an election.

I as a person would actually vote for anybody but Mimiko’s stooge just to spite him for his statement. I really must say once again that leadership has gone to the dogs and I hope that the outcome of the elections will show the people are united against ineptitude, sheer wickedness, flagrant disregard for the rule of law, zero compassion for the plight of the people who really are the government and who choose to saddle so called leaders with the mantle of leadership and not the other way round.

At the end of the day, would it really have mattered if the people decide enough is enough and they demand equity and accountability from their leaders? Would it really have mattered if the governor had paid salaries today but the people unite against stomach infrastructure and mere promises, from these classless humans who think the people owe them but do not realize they owe it all to the people? Time will tell but now is not the time to call on God and posterity to judge, no , now is not the time. Now is the time the people’s voice count.
