Luckylife:Late nineties to early 2000 sir They let down their guard by believing the South will share their oil for ever, they left their revenue generated commodities, they abandoned their pyramids and stacks and barns while they sign up for military, now it's dawning on them that the South will not be sharing their resources forever and they are going back to their first love that made them famous in the pre and pro independence era. |
seunny4lif: Sealeddeal:. I pray the indomie generations to revisit their history teachers or the library or old magazines to be able to comprehend what my post was all about. People saying the North are uneducated are quickly to forget that this same north fed the South before and after independence before the boom of the oil with their pyramids( groundnut) and their tomatoes while few certain states in the Southwest was helping the Nigeria foreign reserves with bags of cocoa ( ondo state ). Saying they are uneducated and looking down on them is what I am actually worried about,if care is not taking they will take us by surprise with their developments. |
Lilimax:Thanks that's why it's an educative post, you can chip in your idea, we learn everyday. .... that's why nairaland is a forum, so we can all gain from each other . |
LENGTHY BUT EDUCATIVE, KINDLY TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THROUGH. THIS ARTICLE IS NOT TO UNDERMINE THE SOUTH BUT A WAKE UP CALL. Take out Boko Haram, Northern Nigeria will be Richer than the South in 30 years! Today, it seems like the North contributes significantly to all the indices that make Nigeria look poor. Whether you are looking at maternal mortality, school enrollment, poverty or security, the statistics from the North would always bring down our rating. This will change in the nearest future, if Boko Haram can be taken out. Recasting the last sentence, if Nigeria eliminates Boko Haram today, the North ‘will’ be richer than the South in 30 years. Notice I didn’t use the word ‘could’ or ‘would’, I used the word ‘will’. This is a conclusion from a research I’m trying to conclude. Initially, I didn’t want to share this finding, but on a second thought, I felt it would spur southern Nigeria to get serious. I really want the South to get serious, especially the Southeast. Last week, in Anambra State, the Chief Justice (CJ) of the state instigated a suit against the President of the Customary Court of Appeal of the state in order to determine who is senior between both of them. What was the problem? The President of the Customary Court of Appeal outshined the CJ at a function. This kind of ‘unseriousness’ between our elites in the Southeast inspired this article. First, let me take you through some hypotheses in the research. One, oil has been the major commodity that has spurred growth in the South. Everyone knows this. Sadly, the future of this community is very uncertain – this is a topic for another day. Two, proximity to water bodies had helped the economy of the South. Take Lagos for instance, I do not know what Lagos would have been without Apapa Port and all the sea bordering it. Three, the security situation in the North has hampered its development for a long time. Sadly, insecurity still seems to be the main hindrance to the North’s emancipation. With all these research statements in mind, let me take you through some information that would make you start admiring the North. The South has been inarticulate lately. They are carried away that Buhari has just entered an Islamic coalition (Saudi Arabia lead coalition). They cannot see that if the North is to develop, it can only do so through its religion. The northern elites know this. Surprised? Recently, Northern governors have gotten some assurance of funds from Islamic banks. These loans are more or less interest free. This is a game changer. Before I continue, let me make it clear that all states in Nigeria need loans. Allocation from Abuja has nose-dived. Sadly, most southern states are getting these loans at a high cost. Fortunately for the North, some of these loans will come with some technical expertise. Let me quote what the president of the Islamic Development Bank, Ahmad Ali, said when northern governors visited the bank. Ali said, ‘’we will work together to come up with a comprehensive plan to support northern Nigeria. We will start with education, and other areas such as job creation…..before you leave Jeddah, I would like to have a list of your priority areas, from education, power to agriculture and so on’’. I won’t go further on the impact of this tremendous assistance because I intend to publish it in a peer-reviewed journal. From my research, I would like to advise the South to stop talking of this ‘islamisation thing’. If the North becomes like the UAE, especially like Dubai, will you say it has been Islamized. Loans from Islamic multilateral organizations can change the face of the North. If the South is worried about islamisation, they should talk to their senators and representatives. I must state here that as a Christian, I understand the South’s worries. Do you know that a developed country like Australia is now looking at agriculture as its lifeline? Their economy has been greatly battered by the fall in commodity prices. They earned a lot from mining. The way the North is going about agriculture, they would soon start feeding the South. I pity my Biafrian brothers who want to leave the ‘Union’. Let me use this opportunity to comment on MASSOB and IPOB. Dear Ndigbo, please engage Buhari intellectually. Organize debates and not protests. Well publicized debates would surely embarrass any government, if points are well articulated. What worked for the militants in the Niger Delta might not work for MASSOB or IPOB. Let us look at that the giant strides taken by some northern elites. Take for example, Gov Badaru Abubakar’s plans for Jigawa state. Have you seen his blueprint for agriculture? Did I hear you say the North has a comparative advantage over the South in agriculture? The man is setting a good example. A lot of northern elites are following Badaru’s footsteps. All the North has to do is to put their house in order- especially as it regards cattle grazing. Lately, we have seen some skirmishes between Fulani herdsmen and some southerners. This will soon be a thing of the past. With the grazing zones (ranches) government is proposing, we will soon have many emergency millionaires (I mean dollar millionaires here). Did I hear you say just as the Niger Deltans had emergency millionaires in the last government? Meat business is big business. Do you know how I know businesses that are lucrative? I study the caliber of people going into it. A former ICAN president, Mr Emmanuel Ijewere, is into meat business. The man has information that you and I don’t have. On the political front, when last did you see southern governors gathering to discuss issues that affect their region? The APC governors in the Southwest will not agree on anything with the PDP governors from the Southeast. But, the northerners are united and are churning out economic policies. The North will develop because there is anger in the North -the kind of anger that made them rally round Buhari in the last election. They are beginning to see how their brothers are treated in the South. The Mile 12 fracas is one example. It is this kind of anger that makes a young man from a poor family make money, after been treated with disdain by his relatives. Still on Gov Badaru Abubakar, have you seen the good example he is setting in Jigawa. He doesn’t even go about abusing his predecessor. This is good for development. No matter how bad your predecessor was, attacking him would hinder development. Remember, he still has his supporters even in your government. Even when northern governors knew that some the airports they were building were not viable, they kept pumping money into them. This is good thinking. Now these airports would come in handy when they finally industrialize with agriculture. Air cargo can offset the negative effect of being a land locked region. Also, it is this kind of smart thinking that is making Buhari budget 39.4 billion naira for oil exploration in the North this year. The hashtag ‘#Ese’ has embarrassed the North a lot. You need to see their recent plans for the girl child education. The North is even lucky to have some activist governors in their rank. That reminds me, I hope you have heard that Kebbi and Kaduna States have submitted a bid in partnership with Dangote and the BOI to acquire Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Limited. If this plan scales through, this new company is likely to dwarf what Innonson Motors is doing in Anambra State. Sadly, the only hindrance to Northern Nigeria’s exponential growth is Boko Haram. Just when we thought that Buhari had reduced the strength of Boko Haram, they struck again, last week in a mosque in Borno. If Buhari can sustain his tempo, the North has the capacity of surpassing the South. This is the conclusion I drew from my research. Interestingly, PwC, a global consulting firm, has just predicted that Nigeria could be within the top 10 economies in 2050. Though I haven’t seen PwC’s full report, if I go by my research, the North is likely to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s growth. On a final note, the aim of this article is not to blow the North’s trumpet but to ask the South to sit up and get serious. The Southwest is already getting serious with the Oduduwa nation and Odu’a investment Group. The Southeast should get serious! The author of this piece makes sense to me Culled from BAR. AKEREDOLU SEGUN. |
According to people who were there and if you listen to the video attentively you will understand the guy broke a law by not paying the train fare, and when the police approached him, he should have obeyed and lay on the ground so he can be cuffed which is standard procedure instead he resisted being cuffed and offered to follow them , did he actually think he is still in nigeria? The British transport police asked him to lay down so he can be cuffed but he resisted and by not being cuffed he posed a threat to them and himself thereby resulting to the video we just saw. Nigerians need to realise that each country has its own law even here in naija you no fit do that to a police officer, it's either you lose a body part or you lose your life. |
abbey621:Ah God will bless you beyond your expectations. When we tell them to always look beyond American/English movies they won't listen. .. all they can claim they know is witness protection program (witpro) they never realise that even in the Nigeria law there is a provision for shielding witnesses as long as the witness feel threatened or intimidated. ... |
SAD AT THE LEVEL OF CURRUPTION. This is a LONG Article but kindly take time to read thanks . . In August of 2011, I was contacted by the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and begged to come to Nigeria. He had just come from visiting our sister company in East Africa. He was very convincing. I along with another Board member soon arrived in Lagos to a great fanfare of private planes, helicopters, and fancy hotels. We were promised the world, if only we would come to Nigeria to build another Dominion Farms. . The 30,000 hectares of land offered by the Government looked great for farm development, located right between two rivers. Abundant water, the promise of a paved road, low interest government loans, streamlined import procedures, and help directly from the President himself. It was all "too-good-to-be-true". We said we would consider it, and we did. Our first trips were to the community, the State Government, and to Upper Benue River Authority. In the community I personally spoke at every church open in the town and at the Mosque. . Additionally, we held town hall meetings sponsored by the Emir for everyone in the area. Next we went to the State where I addressed the legislature and held press conferences. Lastly we went to Yola and spent a half of a day with the Upper Benue River Authority executives. In Abuja we had extensive meetings with the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Water, the ports and customs office and the US Embassy. All agencies offered their firm support for the project. Several trips later we made the decision to proceed. . On 17 February 2012 in the Abuja Hilton Hotel we signed an "MOU" with the State of Taraba and the Government of Nigeria. Hundreds were in attendance inviting us to come to Taraba and begin. Some of the terms of the agreement included Dominion training in modern agriculture for the masses, the State of Taraba paying all compensation to anyone on the land, and for a new road to be constructed. Ninety percent (90%) of the land was to be utilized in a community farming operation with trained local people being in possession of these lands and the remaining ten percent (10%) used as a nucleus farm for training purposes and support. The following day Dominion in conjunction with Taraba State paid for 50 local Nigerians to go to East Africa for six months of training. . What was supposed to happen in six months is still in the process over 3 1/2 years later. It has been a calamity of failed promises. The Government contracted for provision of a new all-weather road however, it is still a dirt trail as the Government funding did not exist. The promised financing from both the State of Taraba and the Government of Nigeria was all talk but no money. Help from the President came in the form of a waiver for all duty on Agricultural equipment for everyone in the Nation, not just us. Treasury and Customs quickly hid the waiver and hid it in their "Secret Files". . We fought for a year to get the promised exemptions and only after tape recording the direct demands for bribes from high officials in the Treasury did we even find out about the "Secret File". The Treasury attempted direct extortion from our manager and he recorded it and gave the copy to the highest law enforcement agency in the land but the culprits scoff at us with impunity. Government officials asked us to just forget the whole thing and pretend it did not happen. That was two years ago and nobody has been prosecuted to date. In every facet of Nigerian society money does all of the talking, corruption reigns supreme, and nothing moves without dirty money to grease the way. The land leased to us was and now still is partially occupied by Upper Benue. They have no lease nor is it in their mandate to occupy land, only to control the rivers. A broken down water treatment plant and many unoccupied homes and buildings came with the project. These were all master planned to be immediately converted into a training school with dorms, classrooms, and sports fields, but as we arrived Upper Benue changed their minds and refused to leave. Pleas to the Government brought little relief and finally they recommended we just build new facilities, but we had not budgeted for this. The State and Federal money promised for financing the project were just not there so finally TY Danjuma, a very influential and wealthy person from Taraba State came along and requested to be part of the project. The Danjuma Foundation committed to constructing a new school and that sealed the deal. Dominion partnered with TY. . As our equipment arrived at the ports, bribes were demanded. The clearing agents added "extras" to our billings and when we demanded to know what these were there was no response. We would not be part of their corruption. We eventually changed clearing agents and it helped for a while but it always came back to a hold-up about something. New rules were put into place as we attempted to bring in 120 shipments of supposedly exempt tractors, rice mills, and the like. The agents ignored the President's directive. The Minister of Agriculture tried to intervene many times but to little or no avail. In the end we paid massive amounts of duty not budgeted for, but NOT ONE BRIBE! Delays added up so much demurrage that finally it was necessary to quit the fight. . We have totally experienced Nigeria. I have been extorted, arrested, detained, lied to, and about anything else one can imagine. We have held to our convictions, not paid bribes, obeyed the law, and kept our dignity, with our frustration levels continuing to rise on every occasion. Nonetheless, we have plodded on through years of delays, because we will not compromise our standards. It has cost us dearly in both interest and in valuable time. We have battled to import around 120 loads of equipment. Virtually everything is finally there for the making of a fantastic farm but it is years late in getting there. Every shipment was a struggle and a shakedown. . We began construction on the site including flood protection dikes, 12 small homes, a maintenance building and the beginnings of a rice mill. We started clearing lands and our relations with the community were good. Upper Benue still occupied the buildings but they had left the land. We were finally about ready to plant crops at the end of 2013 with the State of Taraba promising to pay compensation as was their contracted duty to do when things suddenly changed. . Shortly after we arrived in Taraba, the then Governor Danbaba Suntai made a serious mistake when he ordered the pilots off his plane and decided he would fly it himself. Of course he crashed and nearly killed himself and others on board. First they said he was dead but somehow revived him again but the time with no oxygen left him with serious mental problems. We now had an acting governor, Umar that was trying to fulfil his role but TY did not respect his position. The fight ensued and our road building stopped, the compensation from the state did not get paid and we sat still again. A cabal was formed to try and place the ailing governor back into his office. . This was supported by my partner TY so here Dominion sat in the middle of a political war. Then the bomb dropped! An old consultant to Governor Suntai and some of his aids decided they needed to be back in control so they came to TY and fabricated a story of how Upper Benue and Dominion were having extreme difficulties and that the Federal Government had to pay the compensation. They took this to TY who evidently summoned the President to his house and passed on the fabricated story. . Mr. President called the Minister of Water on the carpet. The Minister then called Upper Benue, and Upper Benue got mad. They felt Dominion had double crossed them, and now our good spirit of co-operation was gone and they decided to occupy the land. The State got involved along with the Minister of Agriculture and State legal counsel. In effect we have no land to occupy so no farming has been done and none will be. . Two sections of Government lay claim to the land we were allocated and the battle goes on. The President gave a directive through the Minister of Water that Upper Benue vacate the premises completely and let Dominion operate unhindered. It is yet to be complied with ten (10) months after the order was issued! This was our main condition for opting to resume work rather than walk away from the project. . Boko Haram is a subject of its own. This group wants an Islamic State with no education for women, and only Islamic studies for men. They kill thousands and the government can seemingly do little or nothing to intervene. They kidnap hundreds of young girls at one time and the army can't find them. Kidnapping of foreign nationals is part of how they finance their operations, and many expats just end up dead. . Boko Haram has formed a caliphate like ISIS in Iraq and is already capturing multiple cities in Northern Nigeria. In Taraba State the Muslim Fulani tribe of nomadic people has taken up a war with the TIV and Jukun tribes of Christian and Animist people. These groups kill each other weekly and between them all, thousands have been killed or driven from their homes. Their domain is moving closer to us. It used to be three hundred kilometers away from us, then two hundred, and now it is just next door. . Meanwhile, Dominion has six policemen protecting the equipment on what is supposedly our land which is occupied by everyone but us. Around 1,000 hectares were cleared in March of 2014, by Dominion in readiness for planting by Dominion. Instead Upper Benue, in conjunction with the local community, moved in and planted their crops! There seems be no let up as everyone is ready to go back to the same land in the next cropping season! . Dominion is caught with no way forward. I now must have heavily armed police protection with me for safety at all times and this is no way to run an operation. Our operations manager and his family have been moved away from the location for their own protection. . The final blow came with an article by the Times of London. It is obvious they put a lot of work into this story in order to make Dominion a villain of some sort. Dominion has been accused of taking land, displacing people, and using dangerous chemicals, when in fact not one of the accusations is remotely true. Dominion was not aware of the presence of the reporters even though the journalist had to pass right in front of our offices and operational area at the farm site with Upper Benue and the locals the day they visited the site. . No one deemed it fit to hear or ask side of the story, nor were we given adequate time to respond to the many allegations outlined in the article. The images in the article are a true representation of the lack of current farming activity with not a single home on the ground. This appropriately describes how we have not occupied anything or displaced anyone. As for journalism this is nothing more than a smear campaign on the Nigerian Government and upon Dominion Rice and Integrated Farms. . Nigeria is in a crisis. In reality it is much easier for an investor to leave Nigeria than to come and invest in such a stressful climate. Environmental Rights Action (ERA) / Friends of the Earth Nigeria (FOEN) and Center of Environment Education and Development (CEED) all boast of your decision to support the communities affected by Dominion. It is now your obligation to do so. The people of Nigeria need massive support and huge investments. These precious people lack desperately for every need of life. What will you do for them when their children are hungry, and there is nobody to turn to? Please take up the challenge and invest the billions of Naira necessary to change these lives. Dominion will no longer be in your way. . Sincerely, . Calvin Burgess, Chairman Dominion Rice and Integrated Farms, Ltd. (Source: http://dominion-farms.com/NigeriaStatus.html) Credits: TOSIN ADEOTI |
Sources in the Finance and Budget ministries also said that the order extends to the President himself, and the Vice President. In recent decades, security votes became popular among politicians, military officers and public officers, especially presidents and state governors, as a vehicle for siphoning public funds. As the nation became more and more enmeshed in official graft, however, the practice began to generate tremendous public criticism. Observers say it was a relic from the long years of military rule, but became even more prevalent as from the Second Republic, and assumed a more dramatic and wider form in 1999. Apart from principal federal government officials, state governors and local government chairmen often allocate huge sums of money to their offices as ‘security’ votes, even as the country grew increasingly insecure. Government sources now confirm that as soon as the Buhari administration took power last year, a clear indication was given of the new direction when President Muhammadu Buhari asked accounting officers in Aso Rock to keep an eye on his own expenses and that of his deputy, noting that they both intended to run a transparent presidency, with zero-tolerance for corruption. Subsequently, the President directed that there would be no routine allocation of security votes to he or anyone else as had been the practice since 1983. For state governors, security votes often run into billions of Naira annually in many states. While the actual amount that normally goes to the president was always sketchy, there have been clear indications that it runs into several billions of Naira, sometimes on a monthly basis. For example, under the Goodluck Jonathan presidency, several security vote accounts have been discovered not just in the office of the National Security Adviser, the State Security Service and the military, but also in accounts of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation. In one particular instance, Mr. Jonathan approved a controversial payment of N2.4b in one day for the rent of 13 house boats for the use of the military in Niger Delta under the Joint Task Force Operation Pulo Shield. In the memo for the payment, the former president simply asked the then Petroleum Minister to “release the sum from NNPC security vote.” The records show that the memo was approved by Mr. Jonathan on February 16, last year. It turned out, according to security sources, that the payment for the rent of the house boats was more than sufficient to actually buy several more house boats. The money was cashed from an NNPC account in Zenith Bank, Maitama, number 023-01571-41-13-4 and paid into the Main Account of the Chief of Naval Staff. Budget officials say while security chiefs and top civil servants argued for retention of security votes in order to take care of security contingencies, the President cancelled routine vote allocations outright, and cut security votes in the budget by 25%. This means that the National Security Adviser’s office, the Department of State Security and the Department of Military Intelligence have had their budgets slashed by significant sums to reflect the president’s order to cancel routine allocation of security votes. A source added that in a similar vein, the President and his deputy no longer receive huge sums of money normally released by the NSA’s office whenever they travel, as was the practice in past governments especially the Jonathan administration. Sources revealed that in the past when the president or his deputy traveled, not only did they receive routine estacodes, the NSA would bring along loads of hard currency drawn from the security vote, sometimes as much as $50,000 per trip. On learning of the practice, President Buhari is said to have given firm instructions to stop such practices, providing only that he and the Vice President would only receive civil service rated estacodes and daily travel allowance when they travel abroad, or locally. A consequence of the new standard is that prominent Nigerians who visit Aso Rock and depart with huge bags or envelopes stacked with money no longer receive such treatment. A source in the presidency said when prominent Nigerians visit the president or his deputy these days, they only get a very warm reception, tea, water, sweets and kolanut, but that no money exchanges hands. Sources said such monies given out to prominent visitors were normally drawn from the security vote allocation. http://saharareporters.com/2016/02/23/buhari-has-scrapped-security-vote-top-federal-officials-sources |
AN Aide de Camp (ADC) to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for his alleged detention. Adegbe, in the suit filed at the Federal High Court, through his counsel, Chief Ogwu Onoja (SAN), is claiming N100 million damages for his detention, which, he said, violated his fundamental rights. Onoja urged the court to declare that his client’s arrest and continued detention by EFCC since February 11, was unconstitutional and violated his right to personal liberty guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution. He urged the court to make an order directing EFCC to immediately release the applicant from “unlawful detention”. Onoja argued that the arrest and detention of Adegbe violated his right to personal liberty and freedom of movement guaranteed by Section 35 and 41 of the 1999 Constitution. The applicant’s counsel contended that the EFCC’s action violated Articles 5, 6 and 12 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. The case has been fixed for February 26 for hearing. |
Feeling outraged, tickled or touched by something you spotted on Facebook? Now you can say so, after the social media giant added five new reactions to its basic “like” button. “Like, love, haha, wow, sad or angry” — the expanded “reactions” feature rolled out globally on Wednesday is designed to let users show a range of emotions. Notably absent from the new emoticons is a “dislike’ button, something sought for years by Facebook users, but which has been ruled out by the California company to avoid a barrage of hateful expressions. “I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the right way to do this with our team. One of my goals was to make it as simple as pressing and holding the Like button,” Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said on his page, immediately drawing tens of thousands of “like,” “love” and other expressions. “Not every moment you want to share is happy. Sometimes you want to share something sad or frustrating. Our community has been asking for a dislike button for years but not because people want to tell friends they don’t like their posts. People wanted to express empathy and make it comfortable to share a wider range of emotions.” – Reacting to ‘reactions’ – Facebook had been testing ways to add to the “like” button faced with complaints that it was sometimes inappropriate, especially in cases of tragic events. “We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel,” product manager Sammi Krug said in a blog post. “That’s why today we are launching Reactions, an extension of the Like button, to give you more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way.” The familiar “like” button with a thumbs-up image will still be there, alongside the new emoticon icons. “We understand that this is a big change, and want to be thoughtful about rolling this out,” Krug said. “For more than a year we have been conducting global research including focus groups and surveys to determine what types of reactions people would want to use most.” The expanded reactions feature had been tested in several markets and is now rolling out globally, Krug added. The new reactions buttons were unveiled in October as a test project for Facebook users in Spain and Ireland. The new buttons became a quick topic of conversation on Facebook and other social networks, with the hashtag #dislikebutton used by its proponents. On Twitter, one user wrote, “Thanks @facebook for all the new reactions except for literally the only thing I wanted #dislikebutton.” In contrast, user Diane Bjorling welcomed the new tools. “As much as I used to want to see a thumbs down button… after seeing how such a button can create conflict.. I am happy with these ‘reactions,'” she wrote. Facebook member Greg Kreiger said the “angry” button was good enough for him. “To the haters and naysayers who are asking where is a Dislike button: Hover over like and choose ANGRY,” he wrote. “Visually it works better than just having the words Dislike or whatever there. Get over it.” Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/facebook-moves-beyond-like-with-love-wow-haha/

What's special in what she did? This woman is a party loyalist and she is welcoming one of their party senators I actually thought she is a down to earth woman who is happy upon seeing a senator |
naijaking1:YES I regurgitate it but I can't call it trash cos it treats the issue at hand and yes why would a senator that profess made in Nigeria good and services be watching CNN when he can help upgrade NTA to international standards that will be appealing to everyone to watch. Why will he be watching CNN when he has his own private TV station that he can upgrade to international standards and cover more international news so an ordinary Nigerian can watch rather than pay exhorbitantly to MULTI CHOICE just to watch CNN, ALJAZEERA and co. |
obasiken:I don't think this is because of security reasons, printing it oversea and in Nigeria is still going to face the same challenges called piracy, as long as the books are being sold to the public, what does it take a pirate to buy and take it to his own printing machine and churn out thousand of copies and sell to those guys who markets in hold ups @ half price while those In turn sell it to motorist at cheaper prices. I doubt if OBJ book was published in Nigeria yet it was pirated massively. Tell me what can't be pirated in Nigeria , as long as the public has access to it. |
naijaking1:@naijaking1 thanks for your comment, really appreciate cos it shows how some of us are still in the darkness crying fowl of Nigeria backwardness when our politicians are still taking us back to kindergarten class with cheap politicking , I won't trade words with you and neither will I abuse you back like you did, cos your reply clearly shows your background and the kind of house you were brought up. Social Media is a global community where we place our views and learn everyday and we can achieve our goals and struck home our point without curses and abuses. There are a thousand and one ways to express our comments and people will understand rather than the way you chose. Now back at my post, I was clearly showing everyone what I saw and as you know there are tens of thousands of printing and publishing houses in Nigeria that he could have chosen from, even if the books were printed for him freely, am sure there are hundreds of printing houses who would want to do that just because they want to be aligned with Ben Murray Bruce himself. My post was never about SENATOR BEN only but about all our politicians from previous officer holders to the current crop of office holders. Thanks for taking your time to read and comment on my post. I am highly honored. Kindly refer back to my post and read it through cos am sure you noticed me giving credit to someone who actually pointed out this discovery. |
Have you seen "Common Sense Revolution", the new epistle of Pastor Ben Murray-Bruce, the apostle of Common Sense and General Overseer of #BuyMadeInNigeria Ministry? The book was actually printed and published in the US. Yes, US, as in United States of AMERICA Bros, what happened to your #PatroniseNigeria mantra? Have University Press Plc, Longman, Literamed Publication, Kachifo Limited, Evans Publishers Limited, Cassava Republic Press et al relocated to Ghana? Thanks to WALE OLAYANJU for this discovery I have always said it that our crop of politicians won't stop at using cheap tactics to deceive us.

This is a welcome development , I can see then working but how effective is their order? Cos I am seeing multi choice going to court to get a different judgment. Nothing had been done about MTN and when are we going to start protecting the citizens against our own indigenous companies and goods? |
#naijapolice: the only set of force in the world that arrests you for having tattoo on your body and you're termed a cultist and you have to bail yourself with 200k or else you're going to jail without court trial. Ask ONDOSTATE RESIDENTS.#ZION SACS |
uku797:When I see posts like this I shake my head... So blowing up the pipeline will feed the average Nigerians? I guess you're benefiting from it. I don't see anything in the news that signifies that the militants blew up the pipeline, pipeline Hazard happens everyday everywhere in the world due to the pipeline rusting or the flow force. Then I guess people have easily forgotten how the pyramids of the north initially feed the whole nation. How the BARNS of yam and basket of tomatoes fed the nation before the boom of oil and now you're complaining about using one region resources to feed the nation, or were you drinking oil to survive before the discovery of oil in the ND? The best roads, and few good infrastructure we have today in this country was done with the money from the pyramids, barns and baskets... Kindly pls do research it.. There a thousand and one way to agitate, one of the ways is to diversify the economy and each and every one of us can do this from our own backyard, atleast the saying goes " charity begins at home" the develop worlds today never depended on their govt to do everything for them, they went out on their own and help the govt to raise the economy. And before anybody quote me wrong I am a ND indigenes and a Nigerian to the core. Thanks |
What people doesn't realize is that the govt is stylishly pushing tompolo to his own demise, because as time goes on he will be declared wanted both in Nigeria and abroad and thereby turning him to international fugitive there threading the same route as his brother Henry O. He will be pushed to the wall until he scales the wall and try to escape to foreign land, he will be arrested, prosecuted and jailed on a foreign land, and his army and soldiers will be put in disarray thereby they won't be able to carry out their threats... Right now I siting down on my couch, with my remote ( Internet) watching as the film unfolds in XD |
Seeing this post reminds me what an elder once said to me , as long as we the current occupier of Nigeria is still living we will always support impunity, 9 months already into this administration someone is already crying, and I ain't surprise Yemi Alade is saying this what am surprise about is the write in the post that says Second class citizen and the poor masses, someone should tell me when poor masses benefitted from the rise or crashing of dollar, do the average market woman transacts in dollars either by buying or selling? And can the same Yemi tell me she is not happy with the rise? Atleast when she goes for shows abroad she bills in dollars and she will quickly come home to change it at the BDC shop cos the exchange rate is 360 to sell and she will deposit it into her acct praying for the dollar to crash so she can have more profit .... I doubt if she knows western developed world are the worst hit by this oil drop.... Anybody who comes here to complain is in support of impunity cos I am sure they prefer to remain in the 16 fruitless years of a PDP than to change power and see if things are going to change and if not we change again until we get it right. They promised us electricity, good roads, infrastructure, good railroad system, goodwater ways, security and many more goodies for 16years yet none came to pass instead they light up their house and some even have an airstrip at their country home am sure some of us that come here to shout has never experience 24hr electricity talk less of seeing a working train yet we support some thieves. Try and visit countries outside Nigeria that are not even rich as Nigeria and you will see. I guess some are happy with the PDP administration atleast you're going to get 5,000 and a bag of rice and that's if you're lucky and popular in your locality maybe once in 4 years during election. I shake my head for we youths of today |
Carmal90:MR camal you're not ranting, you're just showing your displeasure which is fine with me. Like I said earlier I understand your point of view but as a matter of fact I won't critize what he has done cos it's the best thing to do. Sir in the civilized world they do expose people either public officials or private officials, let me take you back memory lane couple of weeks actually , there is a report about an incriminating email by Hillary Clinton , she is like the third most power person in America , and till now she never went after the online source, why because it might be true and it will ruin her career if she does, I have read what people are saying on this forum and this are people who won't take someone calling them fools or stupid for granted , this are people who if you insult they will insult you back immediately. Like I said earlier if this politicians think what omojuwa said about them are false then let them sue him to court like the case btw jagaban and AIT. Sir if you have a tussle with a known evil herbalist and he threatens you with death how will you take it? Are you going to sweep it under the carpet just because you've expose someone before or you will take all the necessary actions to protect yourself? |
Carmal90:Mr camal, I can understand your point of views, but I want you to realize that's the work of bloggers, journalists, either investigative or otherwise to expose whatever individual or group of people doing bad. About omojuwa mentioning names on his blog that's what the mordern day blogging ethics entails, blog should be the voice for the voiceless and the ears and eyes for people without one. Have you ever wonder why those people he exposes or mentions their names has never for once sued him? Answer: because they are guilty as hell Same thing goes for Sahara reporters they can't sue them cos they follow the rule and ethics of journalism and this politicians can't sue for defamation cos they are guilty as hell and their hands are filled up with dirts. I guess if someone threatens you with death you go just forget am and sweep it under the carpet. |
I support mr omojuwa 100% and for people saying its a bad idea i guess they've never found themselves in his shoes or what he faces as a blogger. Death threat and this is done by a person that has been previously arraign and tried for a murder case before? If Na me I go just ask 1billion naira b'cos am sure they still have enough left from the ones given to them by OGA JONA. I could see some people claiming he has been insulting and defaming a lot of politicians and individual , if the group of people and politicians defamed find it offending why haven't they sued the said omojuwa? And has omojuwa ever threatened someone with death? |
@Rymaster thanks for the comment. You can help by promoting the article and help push until the MODs read and push to front page ..... As at the time I saw your comment there are over 80 youths who saw, read , and leave without a comment or any reason it the article. And people wonder why is our country like this ? Why is our country plunging everyday? I wished they look outwards and research about some lesser develop countries in Europe, Asia , and South America and see how their youths are contributing immensely to their growth. @nosypat I thank you also atleast you said something and you're not part of the "I waka pass" youths |
Although this article is old, the writer has seen ahead BASED ON THE RECENT PDP CHAIRMANSHIP APPOINTMENT BY THESE OLD CARGO GOVERNOR. PLS DO READ. Correction and critics are allowed. Mods pls help push to front page so our youths can learn from this. THANKS The Shoki and Sekem Generation The past few days I have had reasons to engage in deep thought and ponder on the future of this country, the direction its youth are taking and their “naivety” in the face of the quagmire of issues that bemuses this country. Of course it is not an insult to them, and I am not absolving myself, however to avoid the truth and pretend that all is well, will serve only to hasten the speed with which this country hurtles towards destruction. Events of the past few days have warranted the need for this post, and it troubles my soul to realize that only but few people have seen the need to discuss these troubling times, worse that nobody feels it’s time to act and set things right. Taking a clue from this generation, you will be shocked at what are the laid out priorities. I mean, it’s great to catch fun, doing the shoki and sekem steps; I certainly envy those who can perform the steps with ease, and I have been trying to learn these steps, however, this doesn’t stop me from the reality on ground and the need to speak up. To illustrate my point, while serving in a school in Abeokuta last year, I asked some students who Chinua Achebe was and they looked at me like “why would I be interested in such a gal”? Of course when I asked about Wizkid, I got the shrieks of “Star boy”. Baffled, I decided to try again, this time, some weeks back with kids in my area in Lagos. I got blank from the kids I asked and while looking puzzled, my friend (who was with me while I asked the kids who Chinua Achebe was) asked if she wasn’t the woman who embezzled money. I guess you all can imagine my indignation, and how I so much wanted to knock my friend out. But you all will be wondering how Shoki and Chinua relates? It doesn’t. I am just attempting to highlight the consequences of us attaching importance to stuffs that does not develop us intellectually. These days, more attention is placed on entertainment, not that it is bad, but for God’s sake we have so much music and movie reality shows out there, where millions are won, and yet, few or virtually no show that rewards brilliance and innovation. If the likes of Davido, Wizkid, and Kcee get endorsements worth millions, why would a kid want to excel in his or her studies when there is no certainty of him or her “making it”? I digress a lot maybe, but my aim is to show how bad it is. These days, all I hear are ”dreams of hitting it big via crook or vile means”. My ears hurt terribly. For long now I have nothad the opportunity to discuss ideologies or theories, like pan africanism, Marxism, or whatever isms. To the bone of contention for me, some weeks back, despite the fact that the Army were winning the battle against Boko Haram, there was an announcement by the FG that there was going to be a cease fire between the Army and Boko HAram. Hearing this, I am sure some people might have heaved a sigh of relief, but the truth is all I heard around me was talks about going to FELABRATION and what to wear. I mean, “what?” Why would people not be concerned about the effects such a decision would have on the morale and image of the country. What country knowing it has got insurgents by their balls literally agrees a cease fire and its citizenry just accepts this ? There were a few people online who argued against this, and advised that the government consolidates on its efforts at ridding the insurgents entirely but they were not listened to. As the events of the past few days have proved, they were right. People lost their lives to a bomb blast in Gombe and Mubi was over run. What was annoying was that citizens of this country fled from their homes like refugees, and yet, we saw nothing wrong in condemning the government and demanding that heads roll. Rather, what seems to be the news is the defection of Tambuwal from PDP to APC. And the worst aspect is that the political leaders and their followers have decided to centre the crisis on the lines of religion and tribe. I have to admit that this is sickening. Are we saying we are slaves forever to our leaders? Of course they have the political power and authority, but we seem to forget that we gave them these powers. We own the will, the strength, the future of the state; we have the power of the masses and yet we prefer to play the fiddle while our Rome burns. Burkina Faso had its leader toppled after the people bluntly rejected him. Yet, we Nigerians are all praying to God to come down and help us; its pathetic. I see no reason why we should be relaxed while our sovereignty and our rights are severely trampled on by our leaders. The time for change is nigh. We cannot accept nor allow our leaders to keep taking us for a ride. Our political leaders and government must be accountable to us, because they are there to serve us and not the other way round. Also, we must have a sober reflection and change our ways. Its not enough to leave important decisions affecting our lives in the hands of these leaders who don’t have our interest at heart, we have to ensure we engage them intelligently and make them realize that the pendulum has swung and we hold our fate in our hands. Borrowing the words of Fashola: “The worst illiterate is the political illiterate. He hears nothing, sees nothing, takes no part in political life. He doesn’t seem to know that the cost of living, the price of beans, of flour, of rent, of medicines all depend on political decisions. He even prides himself on his political ignorance, sticks out his chest and says he hates politics. He doesn’t know, the slowpoke, that from his political non-participation comes the prostitute, the abandoned child, the robber and worst of all, corrupt officials, the lackeys of exploitative multinational corporations”. This is why we must henceforth engage ourselves in the business of the governance of us; after all we claim to be in a democracy which is defined to be a government of the people, for the people and by the people. And as such the government must be for us, not us being strung around like puppets by our self serving political leaders. For our leaders, I have this to say; Remember! Remember!! Remember!!! The French revolution, when the people stood up against their leaders and how it ended. Remember! Remember!! Remember!!! The Arab Spring, when governments were toppled by their people. Remember! Remember!! Remember!!! The will of the people supersedes your will and should the people be forced to exert their will, the consequences won’t be to the favor of the leaders……….. |
These are trying times in our nation. We have as a people have gotten it all wrong. Our ideologies, our values, our everything. How did we arrive at this present situation where the dollar is about to hit 400 naira on the parallel market? And what do we intend to do? Sit down and apportion blames? Or get off our ass and find a lasting solution to this problem before it gets out of hand. Talking won’t do it because we as a people are not short of ideas about the problems that beleaguer us. All that comes to mind is the song by musical legend “Lagbaja”; 200 million mumus. For that aptly describes us. For we are the architect of our own misfortune. A people who celebrate mediocrity and hail their destroyer as their “Savior”. A people so artificial and shallow in thinking, who regard sensationalism as the gospel truth. I myself am guilty of this and will not attempt to absolve myself of blame. I have sat and watched and convinced myself that what goes around has nothing to do with me as long as I feel sheltered in my cocoon. Trust me when I say all I did was to create a quasi-hell for myself and now I have to live with my mistake. Traitors all With a tired grimace spread on my face, I read the news of 500 APC members defect to PDP. I sighed and decided to seek the opinion of people on social media and I was shocked with reactions. Some congratulated them for seeing the light while some cursed them. Some came to look for their missing phone charger while some were only interested in registering their presence. What a shame. Indeed “There was a Country!”. Defectors they call themselves, I call them traitors. Feckless fellas, no spine, despicable, shameless, that is what they really are. These charlatans lack ideology, conviction and principle. All they are interested in is what they can get in monetary terms from their betrayal. Its time we stopped celebrating them and call them what they really are: Traitors all Media? The days of Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu etc saw journalism at its peak in Nigeria. Professionals they all were, men who had honour, who stood for the truth, and lived by the truth. What we have today however is a shame. Seeing major news outlets spurn out news that they later have to retract is sad. We no longer know what to believe, but one thing we are certain of is the usual Screaming Headlines that hold neither water nor truth. As if that were not enough, aside few media outlets, investigative journalism has taken a back seat, and junk journalism rules. General Muhammadu Buhari I never was a fan of APC, but I have come to accept the fact that GMB is president and my leader. I pray that he succeeds in this mammoth task of leading the country in this difficult times. I have a few things I would like to tell the president however. Dear Sir, you are faced with an enormous task, but do not be discouraged. Your people look up to you for guidance and for the way forward. They look to you with hope (though fast dying). They look up to you and hope that their cries and struggles are not in vain, for their dreams are your dreams and their suffering are yours as well. Hearken to their voices, hold them close and let them see that while you are no Christ or Prophet Mohammed, you are still a beacon of hope, a symbol of the change we truly seek! The path to greatness is strewn with pitfalls and danger, however with strength in our diversity, belief in ourselves, and love for the soul of the nation, we shall surmount and restore pride in ourselves, our race and a future assured for generations to come!!! On a closing note, Senator Ben Murray Bruce has charted a path to greatness that if tolled will yield that which we seek. The #BuyNaijaToGrowThe Naira is a commendable campaign and if we buy naija, we are saving not just the naira, but the country and the future. What we make of the situation we find ourselves in now will determine our history as a people. Do we set the course of history right and make Nigeria the giant of Africa and a world power? Do we let posterity judge us as being heroes? or as a foolish people who destroyed their country with their own hands? Culled from https://megasviews. |
texazzpete:Bros, suffice to say, i wont argue with your rebuttal of madrista, however i will tell you that Barlow himself refuted the claims of the article on beegeagle; qouting him directly here "He contacted me on Twitter and I told him to speak to the NA. I have been emphatic that any victories by the NA were NA victories and not STTEPs. He, as many other journos, do not want to give the NA any credit. I have asked the question to them why they do not investigate the “training” the NA got from the other foreign trainers for several years and why that training was so ineffective. It seems this is something they desperately wish to avoid." If Barlow himself could say this, why then is it that nigerians have decided to deride their military. In essence, your argument holds no water when the man being discussed refutes the spurious claims of a lazy journalist. |
