And what's bad in doing that

I once used baked Eba decorated with colors and laced with candies as my bd cake. Afterwards i removed all the makeshift icing (colors and candies ) and i eat my eba with a very rich vegetable soup. Decorated jollof rice was used as my 10th bd as well.

Was your working populace 20% of that? yes
Was your debt to reserve 40% of the former? This am not certain
Were your politicians such rogues without heart? Everyone of them are rogues but they are not the only culprit, what are the judiciary arm doing?. what are the legislation arm doing? so sir, never justify the actions of the few bad eggs because the government is not active. ( who are the goverment? you and me. what step have you taken as a person to right the wrong? do you know you wield more power than those polithiefcians? do you know you can sponsor a bill as an indie to address the rot? do you know you can sue the government for failing to provide a better living standards for you. I guess you believe you only matter during election period only. both noble igwe and simi are right.

What do you expect from the above really? Do you know Nigerian companies reject volunteer staff?

OK, very good of her, noble, and other nigerian entertainers calling out the gboys. But when are they gonna call out nigerian bad government and their determination to impoverish this nation.
The most disgusting thing is these mofos pretending not to know that the government is making things extremely difficult for an average nigerian, and the reason why they do this is so that they don't get in the bad books of this politicians so that they are calledfor shows when they feel like throwing money around, who is deceiving who.

You graduate finish no work, you say make u start small something, they frustrate you through illegal tax and over expensive shiiiits. I ain't no gboy, but the reason is because the thing no gree pay me, is not because I didn't try to do it

So eff simi, noble and all other mofos criticising this guy's without giving them options and without pressuring the government to do right by its citizens eff them all to hell and back, if I hu.

If person ask those fools for small change now, they will tell you to go hustle without knowing how hard you been trying to survive.if I hustle legally for years e no pay me should I kill myself.

When are you going to call out your ward councillor, your LGA chairman, your state HOA honourable, the commissioners in your state, the deputy governor and governor, your MHR Rep, your senator? ... Yes the government is making things harder by the day, yet there are thousands succeeding in this harsh economy. Its time to gather your wits, think about something that wikk generate funds for you without government input. atleast the government try for you small by paying a peanut of your overall tuition fee.

Stop laying the blames at the stairs of the federal government. start from the root problem which are your immediate reps ( charity they say begins at home).

Am not supporting fraud, but if the leaders have been up and about, we wont get here. 419 has been there even before we were born, its in every nation but only pronounced in Nigeria because we have failed leaders but hardworking youths with nowhere to channel that resourcefulness and energy.

What do you expect really in a nation of 200m, with only 20% being gainfully employed, others are either underemployed or unemployed.

Maybe and maybe not but you're practically supporting fraud with the above quoted submission. Its time to let go of the blame game ( politicians has been looting this country and other countries dry from time immemorial, but youths in other countries are thriving without complaining abt their polithiefcians).

Wanting quick money is a form or laziness my brother. I don't support the chief cattle rearer's way of saying the truth. Some of us the youths are quite lazy, dull and would rather fleece one way or the other than to change their way of life the proper way. Just becuase you and i are intellectual enough to create a future for ourselves and our offspring doesn't mean there are millions thinking that way. i dont knw you neither do i know what you're going through, but i guess you don't wait for the government to give hand down something to you before you made it in life.

everything he said is applicable and its happening all over Nigeria. I am from southwest and i can boldly say that 70% of the youths there wants quick money rather than working hard for it. Most engage in yahoo biz and b4 you come here to spew trash by blaming the government of the day, remember yahoo biz came to its peak between 2005-2009 and thats when more students were dropping out of university to engage in this nefarious act. it's virtually everywhere. even in the US there are some county, cities that give preferences to locals and natives. in Alaska, no matter your qualification, if you're applying for a job and a native applied to the same job with no or less qualification, the probability of employing the native will probably be 80-20 ( 20 for you), the people mover ( bus) health care and educational system favors them yet, tiny bit make use of this opportunity.

Maybe but since there is competition, there is nothing stopping you from moving to another provider at the end of your contract.

You can't really compare because it's all about the purchasing power of each currency. A rich man in Nigeria pays little or no tax, the nigerian people see tax as robbery so in their own way, are complicit in the overall decay of the country.

Tax is part of the contract, everybody pays in so that utilities which can be enjoyed by all are provided.
Education is free here (excluding uni), health care is free, drugs for children up to the age of 16 is free, housing is subsidised for those on lower income etc.. All of this comes out of tax receipts.

It may be high, but that is the price to pay to live in a society that works for everyone and not only the elite. Why would I want to be rich but surrounded by people wallowing in poverty? undecided

This is Canada right? cos there is no free health care system in USA

Don't mind them jare, they are selfish. my guy, try as much as possible to go there and pack your own money on the streets too ( you might be lucky to get employed at McDonald or Wal-Mart) just don't go there with the mentality that you're going to hammer in your first 3 years ooo cos that will lead you to illegal activities and we already have enough bad image there. .. trash talk. Yes there are thousands who have spent 30 yrs there , most of them can't come home because of the shame and backlash they will receive in Nigeria ( how will you feel to work for 30 yrs and have nothing tangible to show for it except maybe your house in Nigeria) . most of them are on 30yr mortgage plan and they are hoping to atleast pay everything off and sell it and use the proceeds to come retire in naija. Do not blame until you find yourself in their shoes.

whoever wrote this article deserves a Pulitzer prize-winning author of the year. The professor deserves an eminent award in consellorship and mentorship ( would like to know who he is and have him as a friend). Thanks to the OP that brought this to nairaland, to enlighten us the gullible youths and old of Nigeria (@op I carry my yansh and both hands give you).

Now back to the story at hand, millions of Nigerian and Africa at whole believe money grows on trees abroad.

And b4 anybody quotes me or say shit, always remember that your brother that was nabbed for drugs or scam was as a result of pressure you and the rest of your family members mounted on him, pushed him to do it.

yes, abroad base come home with expensive gifts and stuff to impress or show off ( is this not the main goal of everyone that works or what's the essence of working like a machine and you can't enjoy your money).

most people outside the country works as if they are German machine, in order to meet up with the demand of life, pressures from home and pressures from uncle sam ( bills and taxes).

How many of us here in Nigeria pay tax and you all are walking free, how many artisan, self employed or business owner pays tax ( except maybe vat on your voucher).

On one of my numerous trips to Wal-Mart, I remember meeting an elderly man from delta state in anchorage Alaska ( where -20degree is just a starting point of cold) , I asked him why he prefers working in that cold region where daylight is experienced for 3-4 hrs/ day in the winter. He responded that he couldn't thrive in lower 48 because young Nigerian migrants has spoilt our reputation there and he couldn't blame them because they need to meet up with the demand from home..

I met this man barely 3 months of his arrival on American soil and he showed me text messages from him family members demanding financial help ( this is a man that just got employed to Wal-Mart barely a week on $9/hr part-time job of probably 25hrs a week), he doesn't have a vehicle yet, which means he will spend average of 4 dollars/day on people mover "bus" , eat , pay phone bills , rent , electricity, water and "sewer" bills, and state tax and commodity (which he is lucky not to pay because Alaska doesn't have one).

These young men just doesn't decide they wanna engage in nefarious activities but because what they met on ground was not what they were expecting and folks here in Nigeria wouldn't let them rest, they decide to make it through other means at all cost to meet up with the demands. If you're earning btw 100k-150k in Nigeria, you're better off than someone making $2k/ 2 weeks in abroad. in Nigeria you only pay federal tax and maybe some state tax, most of us don't even have health or vehicle insurance ( we pay what bills we incur at the hospital) but there in abroad, after taxes has been deducted from your paycheck, health tax , 401k "optional" , car insurance, Unemployment tax, and so on will be deducted and if you're working under the table you're expected to have health insurance through marketplace , failure to do this will incur nothing less than $600 fine at the end of the year and trust me, last thing you ever want is to owe IRS and uncle SAM. Most Nigerians in diaspora will tell you, they would have preferred to stay in Nigeria had they known what they now know. most can't come back because of the shame ( BLLB "BO se lo, lo se bo mentality of Nigerians). we need to cut this guys some slack.

A friend of mine took $10k loan from banks ( lucky him with above 680 credit) and loan sharks just to meet up with demands of this families at home , he couldn't pay back at the specified time, well repo men came after him and the shark wouldn't back off, this guys had to do the odd but was caught in the process. he is still in jail facing the trauma and the shark men inside the fence.

you will see Nigerians working on the slope ( ak) , go on fishing trip on the ocean for 6 months just to make money, many fall over board and are lost to the sea, yet some uncles, aunt, brothers and sisters will be asking for money to fund their expensive lifestyle here in Nigeria.

Truth be told. The problem with Nigeria is us Nigerians. Likewise our hypocrisy

hypocrisy is an understatement, you need to see the level of corruption going on in some homes. I have witnessed a scenario where a woman was faulting his 7 year old boy of not increasing a commodity price for a stranger/new customer. There was another case of a father discouraging his son not to return a found purse to the owner. The owner was calling incessantly to the cell.phone found inside the purse ( he claimed since he lost his phone sometime ago and the person who found it wouldn't return it then his son should keep the found purse and it's content).
Politics / The Problems With Nigeria by maestro2000(m): 1:36am On Mar 07, 2018
The biggest problem we have in Nigeria is that we do not like to hear the truth
The second, we worship money  and
Thirdly... we are too religious without knowledge we proclaim to hold in extreme.
How can some idiots be killing other citizens in the name of God/Allah or for sacrifice?

I heard an armed robber who said his gang would not go for any armed robbery operation unless they have a go ahead from God after serious prayers!

In political meetings where the plan to rig elections, lies and share blood money, they pray, in motor parks where they perpetrate all sort of crime, they pray, in the offices where the biggest frauds are going on, we pray. I know a Court that would not be opened to lawyers until and unless, at least, 15 minutes special prayers are offered everyday... Annoyingly, they will ask somebody to pray in public function, he will ask everybody to stand up, he will sing for five minutes and pray for ten minutes, binding devil and evils spirits...

The funniest part of it is that you will hear a self style 'Christian' praying like this: ' I pray in the name of God (god) of my Father Bleep Bleep ... (but the Bible says we pray in the name of Jesus)...

Now some over religious individual will misinterpret and lecture me about putting God first...

God!

NB: Moving this country forward might never come to reality except we put aside our religious fanatism and blindness and love for money or worshiping the rich without regards to how they acquired the wealth.

culled.

that is the difference between nigeria and the united states.......without paying a down payment you can still afford a home once you have a job that pays you atleast $2500 to $3000 .

if most nigerians who are 21yrs old are living in the united states....many would have acquired their own homes atleast a two bedroom condo a three bedroom flat.

here in houston texas they make it so easy for you .....with a credit union bank it is even simpler. with a motgage whether it is a car or a house you may not need to have a down payment. i wish many people in nigeria have the opportunity to come over here...they would see for themselves. it is not all easy and rosy but this country is a blessing

Sir, we know with a good credit and a good working and credit history, you can get a house on mortgage and down payment but not this type of house. You can't be projecting a $3000 monthly salary on this type of house. How much do you think it will cost him to pay monthly ( 500,000,000 ÷ 340 = $1,470,588.235 this is just a rough estimate based on third party exchange rate) his monthly payment will be roughly $5k. So if he has a stable job of btw 4k and 5k , he won't still be qualified to take up such house on monthly mortgage plan. The banks or lending house and the credit bureau will never allow such a deal to go through because his monthly take home will be calculated against his spending cost.

You do understand why celebs including the current U.S. President are very quick to declare Chapter 7 Bankruptcy? It's very simple, rack up as much debt as you can, file bankruptcy to protect your asset and file reorganization in which process, some or most of your "unsecured" debt is negotiated or wiped out completely, and start a new life. Think I lie, ask President Trump, this is the easiest and perhaps may be seen as the most effective way to get out of huge debt not necessarily because you're broke. But why do you think he will get audited tho? I'm just curious... What if he's not on IRS radar; will you snitch on him?

Boss, I understand how chapter 7 works both in and out and everything you said are true but you're still ommitting some clauses and backlashes that comes after re-organization. Why will I want to snitch on him when he has already done that. Talking from experience bro. I have seen it first-hand and I know the consequences of what he just did. Don't flaunt such wealth online while claiming middle or lower income earning.

Oh, forgot to add that I am 100 percent sure he doesn't have a perfect 800+ credit to facilitate 0% down payment. Bro, no bank or realtor in LA will sell their houses for 0% down payment when there are tonnes of people ready to drop like 50%.

Ahahaha, my oga, no mind my bad belle jare. It's just that the truth is bitter. Why did you think most celeb in the US always go bankrupt and claim chapter 7. Why did you think mark, buffet, Bill and Co live in a modest house and drive modest cars? .it's just that we celebrate impunity in Nigeria. I am pretty sure of the IRS audit next year, because he lived in the US for more than 6 months last year.
