Olabisi, a final year Biochemistry student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, is now cooling her heels at the Iyanganku police station, Ibadan, for allegedly killing her boyfriend. It was gathered that Olabisi allegedly stabbed Adegun Lekan to death, on Thursday, over a yet to be disclosed matter. The deceased, who just finished from the Department of Transportation from same institution and waiting for clearance, is said to be the only son of his parents. A pastor, simply identified as George Lifted and his unidentified friend, are the latest victims of communal conflict in Bahumono, Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. The pastor and his friend are believed to have been killed by yet to be identified persons and beheaded. A Facebook user, Rajuno Ohen, took to social media to lament the death of the pastor. “Goodnite my convenant brother … it is a pity you died a painful death … you were beheaded on your way to Ebom, with the person you carried. The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Port Command, has seized 13 containers of Tramadol and bleaching creams worth about N3 billion at the Port in Lagos. Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), who paraded the seized items in Lagos, yesterday, said the 10 containers were loaded with Tramadol, Ciprofloxacin Capsules, Diclofenac Sodium Tablets, Soffeathe I.V Cannula, Sildencdil Citrate Tablets, while two containers were loaded with bleaching soaps and one contains bales of used clothing. Ali, represented by the Deputy Comptroller, Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Mr. Augustine Chidi, said that majority of the consignments were imported from China, while two suspects have been arrested in connection with the consignment and would be made to face the wrath of the law. He, therefore, warned importers to desist from bringing in illicit drugs, as it affects the health of the youth and tease them into criminal acts. According to him, the seizures were in violation of the absolute prohibition list of CET 2015-2019, while the harmful bleaching creams and second-hand clothing were seized in line with the provisions of Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) CAP C45 LFN 2004 Section 46 and 161. “The Service reiterates its concerns for the health and security of Nigerians and one would better imagine the devastating effect on the life of our youths if these quantities of unwholesome drugs had found their way into the market. Not only will it lead to increased insecurity, but will also impact negatively on the health of our youths,” he added. Ali said considering the global trend of insecurity, which can be attributed to the desperation of importers/exporters to circumvent the process by bringing in unwholesome items, the TinCan Island Command has re-jigged its operational methodology to deal with the trend. The Customs boss said some of the seized items have been handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Over 50 Staff of the Nigerian High Commission London were dismissed and asked to accept a letter dated 22nd of November, 2018, Meanwhile, the Commission claims the dismissal took effect from 1st of January 2018. The staff of the commission has been working all year (2018) with months of no pay. The letter of termination came due to a continual outcry from staff members of the commission demanding their salary arrears. In the letter signed by Helen Nzeako on behalf of the Nigerian High Commission UK, the termination of employment is as a result of the restructuring of the organization and due to budgetary constraints. The staff members of the Commission have received this news in dismay and disappointment as most have served the Federal Government of Nigeria meritoriously. A source alleged that the exercise is a plot by the management to disengage every staff to so as to pave way for them to employ their friends & family members into these positions. The letter of termination or disengagement instructed staff to reapply for the same job if they so wish. “We want the World to see how we are been ill-treated just because we asked for our salaries. This is so unfair and an injustice to democratic rule”.As quoted by a displaced staff of the commission. However the aggrieved staff are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government of Nigeria to look into the matter. Dino Melaye, who recently left the ruling APC for the PDP has emphasized that Buhari isn't fit to governor Nigeria. Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, says President Muhammadu Buhari is not mentally and physically equipped to govern Nigeria. Speaking at The Osasu Symposium in Abuja on Thursday, Melaye said the national assembly has been accused of delaying the budget, where “in fact”, the fault lies with the executive. Responding to a question on whether the president reads laws that are being passed by the national assembly, Melaye said Nigerians know he is not fit to govern the country. Earlier, Rotimi Amaechi, Transportation minister, had said Buhari signs laws in the interest of Nigerians and any law he rejects is also in the interest of the country. In response to Amaechi, Melaye said: “I know Honourable Rotimi Amaechi very well, and he is my brother, he is my friend. Normally, he is more eloquent than this, normally, he would speak with precision than this. “But you know when you are not saying the truth, it will never flow. The issue of the budget as raised by Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, I am happy that he was a legislator, and he was a presiding officer at the state house of assembly.” Speaking on the issue of budget delays, Melaye said: “The truth will remain the truth. At what point did you bring the budget? If you will all recall that the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives, had to write Mr. President, accusing leaders of MDAs for refusing to come and defend their budget. “The President had to order his ministers to go to the national assembly and defend their budgets before they came. “The truth is, all political appointees, including Rotimi Amaechi must become born again, if we want to move this country forward. “In whether the president reads these laws or not, all Nigerians, we know ourselves; you cannot give what you don’t have. There was a brief pandemonium at Redeemers University last night, as 2 lesbians were reportedly caught by their colleagues. It was gathered that the two lesbians were caught in the school’s hostel, and some students of the institution have already updated their Whatsapp status with the incident. Recall that a few months ago, Kogi State University was in the news after lesbian records involving students of the university surfaced online. Some of the students involved are those of Economics and English Education departments. According to reports today, two Nigerian guys who were allegedly online scammers, duped a Mexican client of copy.6million. A lady on twitter @Schboyee revealed how they were burnt to death by a Mexican man who lured them over to Mexico after they scammed him of a whooping sum of copy.6million and he made a down payment of $400,000 with copy.2million to balance. There is a current outrage against the Ogun State police command over the N3,000 compensation given to two single moms who were brutalized by some police officers in the state. According to reports, the victims, who are traders, were returning from the market when they were accosted by the officers who falsely accused them of being robbers. Their denial of the allegation, earned them severe beating in the hands of the officers who later dragged them to the Lafenwa Divisional Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, where the DPO exonerated and apologized to them. He then proceeded to give them a paltry sum of N3,000 to treat the grievous injuries they sustained, but according to the dissatisfied women, they are the only ones catering for their children and the injuries means they can’t even be able to go to the market until further notice. Humans rights activists are now calling on the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Zonal Commander, Zone 2 and the Inspector General of Police to look into the matter and get the victims good medical care. They also want the women to be duly compensated for the losses they have incurred as a result of not being able to go to the market. Two people, including a Nigerian national, have been arrested by police in Prayagraj, India on charges of online fraud. The accused used to befriend people and dupe them of their money via Facebook, said Naveen Tiwari, Senior Superintendent of Police. “We have received a diary from them in which it is written that they have taken Rs 15 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh from different people,” Tiwari added. Besides that, the police have also recovered 10 mobile phones, foreign currency, and debit cards from the two people arrested. A video showing female officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) doing what they know how to do best, has emerged online. The video which was released by Ibikunle Daramola, director of public relations information of NAF, documents the increasing active participation of female officers in various departments in the force. The documentary, however, said the NAF, under the leadership of Sadiq Abubarak, chief of air staff, has recorded more women involved in active operational areas. The documentary show one Kafayat Omolola Sani, who is currently undergoing pilot training in the US, and upon graduation, will become the first female fighter pilot of NAF. Another female, T. O Arotile, is said to be undergoing training on flying helicopter training in South Africa. While sharing the video documentary, the NAF wrote: "The Nigerian Air Force has produced a compelling documentary titled “Nigerian Air Force Women of War”, which highlights gender inclusiveness in the Nigerian Air Force and chronicles the increasing involvement of women in combat and core combat support functions in the Service. An 18-year-old phone thief has been arrested by the police after he was pinned down by a 22-year-old jiu-jitsu student at Jorge Teixeira, Manaus, Brazil. According to reports, Mageel and his accomplice had approached Sabrina Leite in front of her house. Mageel demanded she gave him her smartphone. She, however, threw her phone into her house before they could take it. Mageel panicked and tried to make a run for it but he never made it back on the motorcycle with his partner in crime. Ms Leite said: ‘I could feel that they didn’t have anything (weapons), and that’s why I reacted. If they had been armed I would never have reacted. He was running away. . . My neighbour went after him in the car and reached him. Then I ran and immobilized him with a sleeper hold, I lay on the ground and put him in an arm lock.’ Ms Leite spent 20 minutes on the ground with the suspect until the police arrived and arrested him for attempted robbery. There was confusion, yesterday, at a branch of UBA located at Chevron, Lekki, Lagos State, as a man collapsed after fraudsters emptied his account. According to an eyewitness, the man revealed that he had initially visited the bank to inform the customer care unit to close his account, immediately after he lost his phone, but, according to him, nothing was done. However, when he returned to the bank again, he discovered that all his money had been wiped off by the suspected fraudsters who got hold of his SIM card through his lost phone. . A man suspected to have raped two fresh students of the University Of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, around 9am, last Saturday, has been arrested. The man and 5 others, who are said to be labourers cutting grass, allegedly raped the 100 level Microbiology students at Vet mountain inside the school campus. However, yesterday, Friday 15th of November 2018, one of them was caught by the Odim vigilante group, after many students identified him. Two robbers who specialize breaking and entry/theft have been apprehended at 1 tee 4, ekpoma. The suspects who decided to seize the ASUU strike window to carry out another operation, where captured in the process. They were then tied and stripped naked after been severvly dealt with by the angry mob in the vicinity. Its was also learnt that both suspects came from Abia another place within the town to 1 tee 4 where they have been causing havoc untill their apprehension. The Rivers state government has on Thursday, accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, party of shooting at members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ikwerre LGA A statement from the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications Barr Emma Okah, said the gunmen stormed the venue of the meeting and opened fire on the PDP members. According to the statement, “Rivers State Government has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of masterminding the shooting of innocent PDP members who were having a meeting at Ipo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State today 14th November, 2018. Gunmen suspected to be APC supporters opened fire at PDP members who were holding a meeting, critically wounding scores of them while one is extremely critical. A statement issued by the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications Barr Emma Okah said this unprovoked violence and attack on these innocent persons will not be accepted by the State. RSG condemns this situation in all ramifications and calls on the Police and other security agencies to fish out these cowards and bring them to book.
