How does he sit on an international board when he is supposed to be focused on the 3 ministries he is tasked with? I think Ministers and government officials should be prevented from all these useless gallivanting around the world except from the petroleum minister. Amaechi should focus on Nigeria and leave lofty international appointments alone for now. I don't think we can afford unnecessary distractions and strange alliances with our ministers.
Alliance as this brings international best practices to fore in the local setting.

Crowd of APC supporters in Etche during the defection of PDP big wigs to APC

The camp of Governor Nyesom Wike has become further depleted with the exit of more heavyweights of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of which he is the leader.

The latest Rivers PDP heavyweights who have recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) include three front line gubernatorial aspirants of PDP, Chief (Captain) Sunday Nwankwo, Chief Bekinbo Soberekon and Engr. Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, who were allegedly rigged out by Wike during the PDP primaries.

Others include Dr. Diamond Tobin-West, Dr. Basoba Anga, Chief Tubonimi Wokoma, Hon. Daye Ojuka and Hon. Ibroma Kirchner.

APC kick-started the formal burial of PDP in Rivers State with the defection of Chief (Captain) Nwankwo, the Etche-born, Port Harcourt-based billionaire and former National Presidential Committee Member of PDP.

The oil and gas czar dumped PDP and joined APC with thousands of his supporters at a colourful ceremony held at Mba in Etche LGA of the State.

Addressing the huge crowd, Chief (Captain) Nwankwo said: “I was hitherto a financier of PDP and the backbone of the party in Mba clan but with the turn of events in the state, with Wike exhibiting inept leadership and lack of power to govern a complex state like Rivers State, I am hereby teaming up with my friend and brother, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, and others that are interested in rebuilding the state in APC. I hereby promise to channel same resources to the victory of APC and all its candidates. I, therefore, urge all my supporters in the 23 LGAs of the state to cross over to APC and ensure the success of the party in all the re-run elections in the state.”

Receiving the decampees, Rivers APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, reminded Etche people of the numerous roads he constructed in Etche LGA when he served as Commissioner for Works and promised to do more when he is sworn in as Governor of the State after the re-run elections.

Other APC stakeholders that witnessed the epochal event were Chief Allwell Onyesoh, former Commissioner and immediate past Chairman of Rivers State Post-Secondary Schools Board; Chief Nnamdi Okere, former Etche Council boss and immediate past Special Adviser to then Governor Rotimi Ameachi; Chief Ogbonnah Nwuke, a re-run candidate for Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency; Hon. Golden Ben Chioma, a rerun candidate for the House of Assembly seat in Etche; Chief Okey Amadi, a former Commissioner under Amaechi; Chief Ambrose Igbokwe Nwuzi, former Commissioner; and Hon. Chidi Nweke, a former Commissioner for Agriculture, among others.

In Buguma, veteran politician, Chief Bekinbo Soberekon led Dr. Diamond Tobin-West, Dr. Basoba Anga, Chief Tubonimi Wokoma, Hon. Daye Ojuka and thousands of other PDP members in Kalabari Kingdom into APC.

Dakuku Peterside addresses crowd of APC supporters in Buguma after the defection of PDP chieftains to APC

Rivers APC leader, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, was on hand to receive the decampees and the Senator to represent the South West Senatorial Zone; and Dr. Dawari George, the APC candidate in the re-run election for Asari-Toru/Akuku Toru Federal Constituency.

“As if the two events at Etche and Buguma were not enough damage to the burial of PDP, Akuku-Toru the home Local Government Area of Hon Dr Tammy Dagogo the immediate past Minister of Sports and Wike’s strong man formally hammered the nails on the coffin of the dying PDP in Rivers State with a carnival of praise and worship at Briggs Compound, New York City-Abonnema; the APC State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya and APC Deputy Governorship candidate in the state, Asita Honourable Asita received Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, governorship aspirant of the PDP who led former Lawmaker, Hon. Ibroma Kirchner and hundreds of high profile defectors from PDP,” APC said in a statement.

In the statement Rivers APC in Port Harcourt warmly welcomed the latest members of the party, congratulating them for taking the right decision at the right time.

The statement condemned Wike’s alleged threat to PDP stakeholders in reaction to the gale of defections to APC.

Wike, according to reports, summoned PDP stakeholders, threatening to go down with all who may have benefited from his administration should he fail in the re-run election.

He was reportedly to said: “I am worried over the incessant defections of many of my aides to APC in the state. Everybody is running away to APC and they expect me to stay calm and suffer the brunt alone. It will never happen. We were in it together and we must suffer together. If they say I stole money in the Ministry of Education, I didn’t eat it alone. All of you took part. Some of you built the Almajiri schools.”

PoliticsBreaking: Igbo Traders Condemn Biafra Protests/nnamdi Kanu In Strongest Terms by maimalari(op): 10:38am On Nov 25, 2015
Traders from the South-East geo-political zone have disowned the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and his cohorts in the pro-Biafran agitation.

The traders under the auspices of ‘South East Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, in a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Tuesday, said traders in the area had nothing to do with the Movement for the Actualisation of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra, headed by Kanu.
The IPOB is a splinter group from MASSOB.

The traders’ statement was signed by their President and the Secretary, Okwudili Ezenwankwo and Temple Udeh respectively.

They said that their position on the issue had become necessary because of frequent calls by the secessionist groups for closure of markets in the area, stressing that the public could be deceived by such calls into believing that traders were involved in the lawless struggle.

The statement read, “We are constrained to react to the continuous calls for close of businesses in the zone in protest and solidarity for Biafra.

“Traders in the South-East wish to dissociate ourselves from MASSOB and IPOB. We have nothing to do whatsoever with these lawless groups.
“The difficulties and hardship, which traders and residents in general suffer during these protests, had made the traders to react to the situation and the development and make its position very clear and unambiguous.
“The invasion of markets and other business outfits and the destruction of property of individuals like shops and vehicles in the name of pro-Biafra protest is not only condemnable but unacceptable.
“We are yet to understand the wisdom in the protest where the properties and other valuables and belongings of the Igbo are either vandalised or destroyed by fellow Igbo in the name of Pro-Biafra protest.
“The hardship, which the Igbo that relocated from the North-East in the wake of Boko Haram insurgency are passing through, is still staring every right thinking Igbo man in the face, yet the Pro-Biafra groups are calling other Igbo doing their businesses in other parts of Nigeria to relocate to the South-East. This doesn’t make any sense.
“No particular zone in this country is an island and none can successfully develop without inter-relationship with the others.
“Times are hard and the traders condemn, in strong terms, any action, by any group or individual, that will further aggravate the already very difficult times experienced by traders in this area.
“The traders are totally not in support of any protest that will further adversely affect the people of the South-East.
“We want to state clearly that traders in the South East are solidly in support of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

The statement stressed that “traders in the zone shall not support any action that will aggravate the hardship already being experienced by Nigerians”.

They appealed to the President to address the issue of dilapidated federal infrastructure in the South East, particularly the federal roads in the zone, which they described as death traps.

They listed the bad roads in the zone to include the Enugu Onitsha Expressway, Enugu¬Abakaliki Expressway, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Aba-Owerri Road and Owerri-Port Harcourt Road.

I think honorable nigerians should demand from our president to probe and let us know all that happened in that bombing of 2010. One of my relatives died in that blast and many other nigerians lost loved ones. sad thing is we have been kept in the dark all through the past administration. we only read via d papers how Mr Henry Okah ordered the evil act. we want Henry Okah to be brought back here and tried here in Nigeria. We believe there are more persons involved who are walking free and constitute great danger amongst us.
Mr Henry I believe has plenty beans to spill. He should be given a conducive environment to sing the songs we v been denied to hear.
we are still in grief till we hear this all important song.
