The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba, has said that the ban placed on the issuance of permits to vehicles with tinted glasses is not directed at cars with factory-fitted ones.

Baba made the clarification on Tuesday during a brief virtual media interaction with some journalists.

He said that the decision was taken to stop the abuses associated with the use of tinted glasses and SPY number plates by unauthorised members of the public.

The the IGP had last month (June) announced the immediate suspension of tinted glass permits and issuance of SPY number plates in the country.

According to him, some mischievous persons have capitalised on the license to commit heinous crimes.

The police boss acknowledged the complaint that his men were taking advantage of the directive on the tinted glass permits to harass innocent car owners with factory-fitted tinted glasses.

Let the south east beg PDP, their beloved political party to give them its presidential ticket. Note that I said "beg" because the south east can not win the ticket in a contest. You know the reason.

Thereafter, let the Igbo PDP candidate contest the general elections with the south westerner that the APC will present. The APC will never give its ticket to the Igbo. You know the the reason.

Rape/Attempted Rape Crimes in Nigeria

5% of respondents stated that they had been raped or been victims of attempted rape. The analysis according to geopolitical zones shows that the South South has the highest incidence with 10%, followed by the North East (6%). The South West and North West recorded 4% each. The North Central recorded 3% and South East had the lowest score of 1%.

The Director of Child Welfare Services in the state Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Mrs. Nkechi Anazodo, stated this on Monday in Isuaniocha in the Awka North Local Government Area of the state.

Anazodo, who spoke during the United Nations Children’s Fund supported launch of integrated child protection community sensitisation campaign, said there were only 32 cases of rape in her ministry before the lockdown.
She said, “Sexual violence has become the order of the day, especially during this period of lockdown.

"The most worrisome is that some fathers raped their daughters more during the lockdown. In most cases, fathers who rape their daughters threaten to kill them if they report.

“The problem, therefore, is that many people don’t report these cases because they feel that the victim might be stigmatised.

“That is why we are going round the 21 local government areas of the state to create awareness on this problem.”
