Sorry, but I don't buy this. I have another theory about the slave trade. It depleted Africa of its weakest, meekest people, who didn't have the wits and strength to escape the slave traders or defeat them. And I'm not sure if it was even a loss for us. On the contrary, the colonization of Brazil, for example, really depleted Portugal of its bravest, strongest and most resourceful, if cruel and evil, people. And that's why Portugal today is a poor country, a pale shadow of its former glory. It simply overexerted itself.
