Politics / Ortoms Lies Exposed. by makyegh(m): 1:36pm On Mar 08, 2016
EXPOSING THE PLETHORA OF LIES OF THE ORTOM ADMINISTRATION AS TOLD BY TERVER AKASE.

By Bemgba Iortyom.
It is no longer news that the office of Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State has been re-named Chief Liar Secretary (CLS) by the people on account of the plethora of lies that have been rolling out of it recently.
Terver Akase, a young and promising broadcast journalist, has been manning that office which is responsible for telling all manner of tales to suit and further the designs of the Ortom administration, having replaced Tahav Agerzua who suffered severe burns from exposure to intense opposition and public scrutiny heat while functioning there.
Only a few days back, CLS Akase stunned Benue people with the preposterous claim that, "...Governor Ortom has approved the construction 12 roads in different parts of the state NINE OF WHICH WERE AWARDED BY FORMER GOVERNOR GABRIEL SUSWAM BUT THE PROJECTS WERE.ABANDONED AND THE CONTRACT MONEY GLEEFULLY SHARED BY MEMBERS OF THE ADMINISTRATION. The affected contractors have been mobilised back to site and work is set to be completed on those roads this year." (emphasis mine)
But facts on ground put a big lie to such a claim as it is practically verifiable that those roads projects initiated by the Suswam administration were paid for in line with global standards of installmental paymemt and work done on them to various levels, some above 70% and most of them over 50%.
There could be no better proof of payment for those roads projects by Suswwm than the fact of the work done on them which, as earlier stated, is a practically verifiable fact.
In the particular case of the Gbeji- Afia- Zaki Biam road which is a 46.52km stretch, it was constructed with asphalt surfacing from Gbeji through Afia to Tse-Dugwer, complete with a major bridge, with the remaining distance from Tse-Dugwer to Zaki Biam being only 1km. 1 km is less than 1% of 46.52, so this particular road was more than 99% executed.
How then could this project be said to have been "abandoned and the contract money gleefully shared by members of that (Suswam) administration? Only a liar bent on deceiving the people would make such a weird claim.
The attached pictures buttress the fact of work done on this road, and there are many more proofs exposing the many lies of the Ortom administration as told by CLS Terver Akase.

Politics / Benue May Recommend Tsav To Efcc For Prosecution by makyegh(m): 10:14pm On Mar 06, 2016
BENUE MAY RECOMMEND TSAV TO EFCC FOR PROSECUTION
Our attention has been drawn to comments made by one Mr Augustine Danmagana Alhaji Abubakar Tsav in the National Daily of February 22-28, 2016, that Governor Ortom should be blamed for the recent attacks and killings in Agatu local government area of Benue State.
The comments are most unfortunate and an overstretching of political partisanship that has marked the behaviour of the former policeman in recent times.
Those conversant with events in the state know that the clashes between farmers and herdsmen in Agatu and several parts of the state predate the Ortom administration.
Incidentally, the voice of Mr Augustine Danmagana Alhaji Abubakar Tsav had never ever been heard on the matter when the immediate past administration which patronised him heavily was at the helm of affairs.
One is therefore, surprised that at a time Governor Ortom took several proactive steps to forestall the recent hostilities someone would make an unfortunate and inciting statement that he should be blamed for the the attacks and killings in Agatu.
Since assumption of office Governor Ortom has held several meetings with farmers and herdsmen in the state at which he canvassed peaceful coexistence.
He always urged the two parties not to take the law into their hands in the case of an infringement on their rights but rather to report such case to the relevant authorities.
The Governor initiated meetings with his Taraba and Nasarawa State counterparts in the search for peace within and beyond the state.
On Agatu particularly, he initiated moves to visit the people in Benue and Nasarawa States with his colleague, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, after a joint Security meeting of the two states.
Represented by his Deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu, Governor Ortom has visited Agatu several times and met with stakeholders many times.
He also met both the Vice President and President Muhammadu Buhari on the matter and secured more military deployment to the area as well as the attention of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and other relevant agencies to the affected areas.
Governor Ortom also responded to the situation by mobilising the security agencies in the state to move to stop further escalation of the crisis.
At his instructions the state government also provided relief materials to those displaced by the crises at the various camps in Ugbokpo, Ojantele and Ataganyi.
Through the amnesty programme he has reduced criminality in the state and enhanced the security of lives and property.
It is unfortunate that Mr Augustine Danmagana Alhaji Abubakar Tsav's nostalgia for the old order which put him on its payroll has beclouded his sense of judgment.
The discerning public is therefore urged to dismiss his comments which have been tainted by a craving to cast the new order in bad light on account of his partisanship.
With the benefit of hindsight it might be necessary for Mr Augustine Danmagana Alhaji Abubakar Tsav to state his contributions to the development of the state throughout his career in the police and upon retirement.
Apart from being an arm chair critic what solutions has he recommended to end the incessant crises or what relief has he brought to the affected as an individual?
On the other hand even before he became Governor, Samuel Ortom has been known for philanthropic and humanitarian activities such as provision of scholarships, treatment of the sick especially those with snakebites and hernia as well as care for the less privileged and vulnerable.
It could be recalled that when the people came under sustained attacks from herdsmen in 2014 he suspected his governorship ambition for one month and went about to explore avenues for peace in partnership with other major stakeholders.
Fortunately, his efforts and those of others yielded positive results and the attacks subsided.
Even though he has been a victim of the crises having lost many relations, his ancestral home, his warehouse, hundreds of acres of rice farm and other property, Governor Ortom has remained a peace maker.
To him, blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children.
Yet he who feels it knows it much more than someone who has no investment whatsover in the state but continues to search for relevance from the misfortunes of others.
Moreover, Mr Augustine Danmagana Alhaji Abubakar Tsav's stock in trade remains attempts to intimidate leaders with the objective of extorting money from them.
Unfortunately for the blackmailer, Governor Ortom has no skeletons in his cupboard and keeps challenging the former policeman and others to make public any corrupt deed they find against him throughout his private and public service career.
He has also demonstrated his civility, as well as adherence to the rule of law and due process by taking Mr Alhaji Tsav to court so that he could prove the false allegations he makes in order to justify his pay from sponsors.
It most be noted that even as Governor, Ortom has demonstrated exemplary leadership by challenging the people to return to agriculture by personally going to work on his farm.
On the other hand Mr Alhaji Tsav continues to make a living by running down respected leaders of the people.
Try as hard as he has to distract attention, the Ortom administration has remained focused by fulfilling its campaign promises to be transparent, accountable, just, fair and selfless.
It is also living up to the pledge to fight corruption and tackle the challenges confronting the people.
The searchlight on beneficiaries of the old order continues and if Mr Alhaji Tsav is found to be culpable, there will be no hesitation of recommending his prosecution to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Still, the former policeman can make decent money by tendering for jobs advertised recently in the education and other infrastructure sectors by the Benue State government and if his company qualifies he will surely be given one or more of the contracts.

Tahav Agerzua

President Buhari must at this time speak out loud and clear against the madness of his tribesmen in various Nigerian communities.
Nigeria was not made just for the Fulanis. Settlers must learn to respect their landlords and not lord things over them. You break up people's land, drive your cattle to eat up their crops and turn around to accuse them of stealing your cattle. Then you unleash your bestial tendencies on them by mindlessly slaughtering their children
This President must not keep quiet any more. Silence is not golden in this matter. It is a betrayal of trust that you would sit tight and assume nothing has gone wrong. You cannot arraign Kanu while you ignore the worse evil perpetrated by your bloodlines in the same country.
I am not yet of the opinion that your silence offers a tacit support of these acts that are only fitting for animals (though that's what they really are). I want to make an excuse for you that you are working on an appropriate response. But this must not take long anymore.
You have the duty to protect the whole of Nigeria. Do not place the interest of your blood hungry renegade-kinsmen above the interest of Nigeria. This nation must not burn in your time.
And when you speak, please let actions match your words.
You may start by sacking Solomon Arase anyways. He speaks no better than a Shakespearean court jester.

Politics / CHRISTINE LAGGARDS REAPPOINTMENT: Nigeria Must Look Out. by makyegh(m): 5:20pm On Feb 27, 2016
22/2/16 Christine Laggard announced her Reappointment as IMF boss and from what we have gathered there were no other potential candidates as no call had been made for qualified personnel and as such her Reappointment is more or less an expression of satisfaction with her performance by the Board of Directors of the financial Institution.

Her reappointment at a time when the Financial position of Nigeria following the drop in the price of oil to the barrel and the impact that the drop has had on our economic planning is both a warning and a sort of notice served on us that "we are being watched" at least financially.
The fall in the value of the Naira against the dollar occasioned by excessive dollar demand for all kinds of purposes has simply excercebated our poor situation. On the street, you can feel the loss in value by how much less you get for the same amount of naira.

In view of the above, it is of utmost importance that the Nigerian government should prepare to respond to the measures both overt and covert which the Institution (IMF) will take both in our interest or against our interest, now and in the future because Laggard clearly represents a Board to whom she owes Primary allegiance.

It's not unheard of for Nigerian government officials to parrot their counterparts from international organizations. We all remember how we were told the Recession of 2008 would not affect us, how it felt is still fresh (to imagine that in the midst of that recession #Dasukigate was taking place).

It would be unreasonable for ANY Nigerian govt official to take quotes from International Organization Managers as they will always speak in favor of the Board/ Body theyrepresenttheyrepresent.

The above is coming on the heels of Laggards claims that the IMF will continue to offer economic advice to nations that will help grow their economies. While this may sound good, it is as it hard to ignore the fact that over the years, many economies have failed under the watchful eyes and Advice of the IMF even as a sprinkling have been successes.

It may be easy to point to the actions or in actions of local politicians for when the going was good, but we must ALWAYS remember that when it comes to IMF and some other international organizations, it is business first and formost. Make a profit. At the world stage!

The current state of the Nigerian Economy requires that PMB should get his forces aligned and his facts sorted out. There will be pursue to devalue big within and without, proposal and counter proposal. Whatever he does, a decision must be made, for Nigeria's sake.

To be sure, Nigeria's current economic woes will tempt many to go with proposals from bodies like the IMF whose recommendation would almost certainly be "devaluation" but if Nigeria must move forward, the pains of Nigerians and their toil should be supported by brave leadership. We must contemplate devaluation carefully.

As we congratulate Ms Laggard on her Reappointment, e must be weary of the reasons for which the Board of Directors reappointed her as they may be a part of why we are where we are plus what role is she expected to play going forward, and how will that affect dear old Naija.

Yam

(Dioscorea species)

Yams are starchy staples in the form of large tubers produced by annual and perennial vines grown in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, South Pacific and Asia. There are hundreds of wild and domesticated Dioscorea species. White Guinea yam, D. rotundata, is the most important species especially in the dominant yam production zone in West and Central Africa. It is indigenous to West Africa, as is the Yellow yam, D. cayenensis. Water yam, D. alata, the second most cultivated species, originated from Asia and is the most widely distributed species in the world.
And people can't get enough of YAMS. It seems.

Politics / Re: Wike Restores Omeha’s Rights As Former Governor by makyegh(m): 10:00pm On Jun 25, 2015
Ndlistic:
Rivers State Governor, NyesomEzenwo Wike has formally restored all the entitlements and benefits of Sir Celestine Omehia as a former Governor of the state.

Governor Wike on Thursday also formally reinstated the official portrait of Sir Celestine Omehia amongst the line-up offormer governors of Rivers State at the Government House, Port Harcourt Executive Council Chamber.

Performing the exercise, Governor Wike said that the decision to restore the entitlements and privileges of Omehia as former governor stemmed from the fact that he worked as governor of the state between May 29, 2007 and October 25, 2007, wherein he took decisions on behalf of the State and initiated projects. He said: “I hereby put back his official portrait among those of former governors. He is now entitled to the benefits of all former governors. ”

The governor said that the era of politics of bitterness in Rivers State was effectively over, noting that it was not rightto personalise governance as was done by the immediate past administration.Responding, former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia described Thursday as the most historic day of his political career.

He said that the restoration of his rights as a former governor indicates that his dark political days are over. The event was witnessed by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Kenneth Kobani, Rivers State Housing Commissioner, Barrister Emma Okah and the State Attorney-General, Chinwe Aguma.

What is happening?
Is it not only when someone completes his tenure thaat they become due to enjoy those benefits?
Did Omehia complete his tenure?
Oh? Did he even have a tenure?
Did he contest elections?
What is wrong is wrong.

SENATE PRESIDENT PROMISED TO INVESTIGATE CORRUPTION IN MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM.

That was headline a radio station I listen to in Abj kept repeating. It reported that Senator Saraki made this commitment at a formal setting.
What I find funny in this piece of political drama is that the statement is both progressive and decptive at once.
The statement presents Saraki who is conscious of the problems "His people" face I.e the corruption in the oil industry.
Yet in that same statement, he has set wheels in motion to take us (Nigeria/ Nigerians) back into the mire of corruption.
Why?
It is my opinion that if Saraki wanted to help #Buhari in the fight against corruption, he should have called on President #Buhari to implement the #Imokuede and #Ribadu reports while urging #Buhari to advance work in cleaning the system. Saraki should have been promising the support of the NASS.
#GreensnakeSaraki I think the game is on between the forces of good and evil. Btw those who love #Nigeria and those who pretend to love #Nigeria.
#OccupyNASS will just have to happen.

This Abba is a complete nut job. Such a person will insist that his opinion should bethe dominant one.
He has declared that "Change" is dead on arrival because Buhari has not "shackled" the NASS. It is quiet the tale. Many Nigerians unfortunately want change but they are like this Abba who wants things to be done the old way. With the emegence of this leadership, Abba thimks that Buhari has to "Bribe" his way to get things done in the NASS, imagine?!
It is hard to think that such were the calibre of people that fought for change and to imagine some of them dont know the first thing about change.
People like this should be stopped from making public utterances but who am I? *wispering* its still a free world and he has a RIGHT to his opinion, no matter how #Rubbish I think it is.

While I pray that God will console the bereaved, I wish to note that the shock of it is better imagined than experienced. 9. My dear compatriots, as your governor, I pledge to govern with the fear of God. This shall translate to core values including transparency, accountability, fairness, justice, humility, selflessness, disciple, integrity, integration, forgiveness and reconciliation which shall engender peace and unity as well as make development inevitable. We shall have zero tolerance for corruption and any government official whomisappropriatespublic funds will be punished. Our philosophy is that which regards public office as an opportunity to serve and not that for amassing illegal wealth. Those who wish to make money shall be encouraged to get into the private sector and do business. Our administration will promote growth anddevelopment of our state in accordance with the democratic principles of due consultation, full disclosure, transparency, inclusive participation, responsive leadership and the rule of law. Unfruitful expenditures will be discouraged, and never, never again will individuals be allowed to corner the commonwealth of thestate to become their personal estate because they are privileged to be in political governance. I assure you that we will use every legal means to recover such treasures annexed from the state. On our part, we promise to wholeheartedly sweat and to toil in your service to the meaningfulsatisfaction of all such that by the time we leave office, Benue people will be on their knees thanking God and celebrating enhancement in their lives and environments. We will constitute a participatory government where citizens will have their say and way. We will work to allay the fear of marginalisationof the minority ethnic groups in the state be you Akweya, Etulo, Nyifon, Ufia, Agatu, Jukun, or Hausa, you wllenjoy the rights and privileges of the other better known Tiv, Idoma and Igede. The Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Nupe, Ebira, Ijaw and all other groups who are resident in the state will be treated as stakeholders. By the grace of God, Benue will become greater and we will all share in her greatness.10. Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, wehave gone past the time for politicking. I am the governor of those who voted for me. I am the governor of those who did not vote for me. I am the governor of those who did not vote. I am governor of all. For this reason, we extend our hand of partnership to all and especially political leaders across the divides.11. Let me specially convey our very sincere appreciation to the Chief Judge of Benue State, the Honourable Justice Iorhemen Hwande for performing this constitutional and sacred duty that has conferred on Engineer Benson Abounu and my humble self, the authority of Deputy Governor and Governor respectively. My Lord, we thank you and appreciate the commendable manner you have led the Benue judiciary to the sterling and enviable status it has attained in this country. We also acknowledge the contributions of the Speaker and all members of the Benue State House of Assembly for their contributions to the development of the state.12. It is pertinent to commend the nationalleaders of the APC, especially Senator Dr. George Akume and his dear wife, Chief Mrs. Regina Akume, JP, for their vision and passion for Benue. The contributions of Chief Audu Ogbeh, another illustrious son of the state to the change movement mustalso be acknowledged and appreciated just like the efforts of the APC state chairman, Comrade Abba Yaro, and all members of thestate executive committee of the party. Wewill not forget the contributions of Chief Akange Audu, Professor Steve Ugbah, and Chief Mike Iordye, whose noble contributions to the development of the party have brought us this hour of glory. We also acknowledge the sacrifices and contributions of Distinguished Senator Chief Barnabas Gemade to our victory. I commend all those who have won various elections to serve the people of Benue in different capacities. This group contributedimmensely to the collective victory of the party. My appreciation will be incomplete if I fail to commend the members of the Ortom/Abounu Campaign Organization led by Professor Ugbah and Strategy Committee led by Professor Dennis Ityavyar, for their diligence and hard work. For an opposition party to wrestle power from a ruling party is not a picnic in a garden. It has been a long marathon in the desert. We thank you for your resilience. Many who started this journey with us are not here today to witness this glorious moment. Many lost their lives in the course of this journey. Even on Election Day, some were killed and several injured because they resisted the attempts to subvert the will of the people. Once again we sympathize with families who lost loved ones and pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased. Persuasive canvassing of votes remains the most civilized means of soliciting for political power from the electorate. In their memorytherefore, let us resolve that, never again will any politician find any attraction in violence and other electoral malpractices as a legitimate means of acquiring democratic power in Benue State. We have resolved to strive to reform our politics such that power and privilege wouldno longer shut down the voice of the people. If we must run a government in which everybody is involved; a peoples government, we must put aside personal advantage so that we can feel the pains andsee the promise of Benue. It in this regard that I wish to drop all my titles preferring to be addressed as Samuel Ortom. We mustgive the seat of government back to the people to whom it belongs. To eliminate that distance between the government andthe people, the seat of Government in Benue State will no longer be called Government House but Benue Peoples House. This we believe will serve as a constant reminder that we hold our positions of authority in trust for the people and that the people are more important than anything else in a democracy.Honestly, I always wonder where I would have been without my charming wife, on whose loving shoulders I always received inspiration at very challenging times. From the bottom of my heart I say thank you my baby, Eunice. All members of my family have borne the trauma occasioned by my political participation. I commend my children and grand children all other members of my immediate and extended family for their patience and understanding. I have very reliable friends, who have sacrificed everything to support my ambition. I sincerely appreciate and thank them all. Before I end this address, let me salute the glorious memory of our heroes and founders of modern Benue; Chief Dr. J.S Tarka, Chief J.C Obande, Chief Apollos Aper Aku and Most Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu. They were great men of vision, and we shall endeavour to build on the foundation they laid for our dear state. An African proverb counsels that; “if you want to go fast, you go alone but if you want to go far, you go with someone”. I want to go far with all the people of Benue. I am trusting God Almighty that my journeywith you to our New Benue will be a fruitful one.13. Finally, as we depart from this arena, I wish you all journey mercies to your respective homes. The central message that you should carry back and share with the good people of Benue State is this: You voted for CHANGE and change has come. The change we advocate is not a mere party slogan but the wake-up call for a people’s revolution. It is the herald of a newway of doing things. This change is not about Ortom or Abounu but requires that the hand of every citizen be on deck to create the Benue of our dreams. We cannotand will not fail because, in God we trust.Thank you and God bless you.
Politics / Inaugural Speech By The Benue State Governor: Dr Samuel Ortom by makyegh(m): 12:33am On May 30, 2015
ORTOM'S INAUGURAL ADDRESSINAUGURAL SPEECH OF HIS EXCELLENCY,CHIEF DR. SAMUEL IORAER ORTOMEXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATEAT the IBB Square, MakurdiFRIDAY, 29th MAY, 2015OUR COLLECTIVE VISION FOR A NEW BENUEToday is a milestone in the history of our state. We thank the Almighty God for His grace and for being on our side. My Deputy,Engineer Benson Abounu and I, deeply appreciate our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, that provided us the platform to join the wind of change that is blowing across Nigeria. We salute the good people of Benue who massively voted us into office. We are humbled by your sacrifices and are mindful of the great task ahead. We pay tribute to past and present leaders of the state for the many achievements of the past 39 years. The most recent of these is Rt. Honourable, Dr. Gabriel Torwua Suswam, my predecessor, his Deputy, Chief Steven Lawani and members of the team that ran the state in the past eight years. We are hopeful that you will allow us to tap into your fountain ofknowledge and experience as we face the challenges of governance in the state. Whatever you did right will be sustained; and whatever is lacking in what you did shallbe boldly corrected.2. Though we appreciate the achievements of the past 39 years, we acknowledge the fact that our state is far from reaching its potentials. Our collective vision for the state is yet to be fulfilled. The many challenges on our path notwithstanding, we must not stop in our determined march forward nor allow ourselves to be distracted from our vision of a healthy, united and prosperous Benue where capacity, potential, resourcefulnessand integrity will converge to enable the state break into the league of top states in the country. Our administration will build private sector capacity and encourage it to thrive by creating the enabling environment. We shall encourage micro, small, and medium scale enterprises, trading as well as commercial and investment activities3. Today, we step forward to accept the enormous responsibility and the trust reposed in us by your votes. We are fully aware of the many hurdles on our path. We step forward with an unwavering commitment to the Benue vision for which we invite you and others who stand as our friends, wherever they maybe, as stakeholders to the vision. Together, we shall be true to ourselves. We shall live the vision in words, deeds and determination. We shall hold and support one another for as long as it takes to realize the vision. No longer will a tiny colony of self-seekers deny us the urgency of this vision today norin the next four years.4. As midwives to the vision of a new Benue, the major policy thrust of my administration rests on five major pillars:Good governance and revenue security;Agricultural-Driven Industrialization;Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)-Based Education and Health Services;Investment in critical infrastructure;andPromoting gender equality and empoweringwomen, youth, sports, and persons with disabilities. The details of our development agenda will be made public in due course as part of our commitment to a collective ownership of the vision for a new Benue.5. The expected outcome of our policy thrust as outlined above, will be an inclusive, accountable and result oriented government. In partnership with local communities we will ensure the security of lives and property in the state. We will do everything possible to contain attacks on our people by criminal gangs and herdsmen. We will through appropriate legislation, encourage those with livestock in the state to keep them on ranches as a way of forestalling incessant clashes with farmers. We will also move decisively against those of our youths and their patrons who have chosen a living out of unbridled acts of terror and thuggery. Government will no longer be a shield for these youths and those who patronize them. Whoever they may be and no matter how powerful, they will be brought to account. We call on all unlawfully armed persons who have been terrorizing innocent citizens to immediately surrender their arms, be free and get integrated into our reform program, or we shall pursue them down to their holes.6. In agriculture, our expected outcome is to extend our calling as ‘Food Basket of theNation”, to include processing of agro-products. We will do this by developing the sector through the introduction of simple technology driven systems and targeted interventions involving agro-processing, improved marketing channels, inputs and rural infrastructure.Education will be promoted as the backbone of the Benue vision focusing on quality, access and relevance atall levels. We will deliberately promote mathematics education in order to producea generation of students whose numeracy skills will in the near future will translate toexcellence in science and engineering. We will nurture and attract exceptional talents to ensure that our State University and other tertiary institutions are hubs of excellence not only primed to sustain our development but repositioned major players in the production of knowledge for the state and the nation. In accordance with our APC manifesto, modalities will be put in place to provide free, qualitative and compulsory education up to secondary school level as soon as the economic fortunes of the state improve.7. Our vision will not be realized by chance, we will remain focused and not be distracted. We will advance in boldness and hit the ground running. Distinguished citizens of our great state, it is common knowledge that our state has a huge debt burden which we shall verify and disclose assoon as possible. This includes unpaid salaries and allowances as well as retirement benefits. With your understanding, patience and support, we will turn this situation around. We will be prudent, we will be efficient and we will be transparent and creative in the management of resources in our development agenda.8. Thus the clarion call to our farmers and people in the rural areas is that we must attain the number one food producing state of the nation. Together, we can transform the rural landscape, create more jobs, wealth, and opportunities as well as improve rural habitats and livelihoods. To our women and vulnerable groups, we will together, strive to reduce gender inequality and other vulnerabilitiesthat encourage poverty and limit potentials. To the youths of the state, you will no longer be dispensable tools in the hands of irresponsible politicians . We will commit to giving each of you the highest quality training in mathematics, sciences, technology and innovation as well as creative arts to position you for tomorrow as key drivers of the Benue vision. Sports will be utilized as a veritable tool for youth empowerment as talents will be trapped and given an enabling environment to develop up to the global stage.Fellow citizens of Benue State, my heart bleeds for Benue workers and pensioners asthey have suffered untold hardship as the issues of their salaries, wages and allowances have become a major challenge. We shall immediately make arrangements to determine and verify our indebtedness and work towards the immediate payment of outstanding workers’ salaries and allowances of pensioners. The Bible states that the worker deserves his wages, on thatscore government must ensure that wages are paid as at when due.To teachers at all levels in the state, you are the key to unlocking the major challenges in education. We will not only support you but rebuild the school system and enable you to take our schools to the next level. To Benue citizens in diaspora, wewill engage and challenge you continuously to buy into and own the Benue vision. The state must benefit from your wealth of experiences, suite of competencies and skills. We will partner and provide a place for you in the rebirth of the state. To our entrepreneurs, civil society organisations and other non-state actors, investors and other multilateral development partners, we open our arms to a warm embrace of opportunities that will be mutually rewarding and beneficial to all.
