Nairaland General › Re: Restructuring And The Challenge Of Governance Competence by Man2utd(m): 11:16pm On Jul 20, 2017 |
Narldon: Well...
I concur with the concept of True Federalism;
Federalism is a form of Government, whereby there is a Central Government and the regional Government, with power shared equally between both parts! Thereby, there is decentralization of power.
This system of Governance can seen in places like Switzerland, Australia etc
There are certain reasons why I believe Nigeria should switch towards Federalism;
Federal institutions are more likely to be adopted in societies with culturally or ethnically fragmented populations and Nigeria is highly fragmented and diversified in terms of socio-cultural aspects!
federalism emerges as a bargain between a center and a periphery where the center is not powerful enough to dominate the periphery and the periphery is not powerful enough to secede from the Center Any reasonable person knows that the only way out of our current predicament is for us as a nation to adopt the concept of true federalism. The basic fear of our so called lawmakers is that their excesses will be cubbed, they might become irrelevant and because of their corrupt nature which will be checked effectively. The government is just too far from the people.. |

haneetram: Hello Everyone, as some igbos say they should allow them separate from Nigeria, some people are actually saying they are fighting for the wrong cause. Some people think that they should fight for a better Nigeria, a better government develop ourselves and be better people instead of fighting for a separation. In this same way, a lot of people are deciding to drop out of school because some have made it without school, they feel school is mainly about academics and hardly about the things that can help you in life, no life hacks, they don't teach you how to handle your finances, how to make better decisions in life, how to hustle, how to get up when you fail and so on. Don't we think in the same way, instead of dropping out of school, we should create a cause that the curriculum of schools be adjusted? In 2017, there are so may ways for people to make money without school and gradually a lot of schools will go out of business because they are not evolving with the new trend.
What do you think? Please leave your opinions in the comment section.
Hit me up on instagram- teenahs_lounge if you want to talk to me personally, Email: callon2mama@gmail.com Schools won't run out of business, there are people who still value education, its just a poor curriculum that has been adopted by our schools over the years. Its quite different in some private schools, they understand the importance of diversity. Not everyone is wired for education though.... |

ADEWUMIMichael: Not so long ago the Nigerian Naira was a very strong currency, so strong that in the 70’s and 80’s and to be specific as at 1979/1980 fifty five kobo (55k) could fetch you about one dollar ($1).
Ever since the exploitation and discovery of crude oil in Nigeria, the major source of foreign currency (Forex) in Nigeria shifted from agriculture to crude oil hence the foreign reserves was deeply affected with the discovery of shale oil process of extracting oil, the crude oil price dropped significantly hence depleting the foreign reserves.
The love for western made products also played a significant role in fall of the Naira currency as most products were imported into Nigeria which required Dollars to purchase hence making the demand for the Dollar a scarce commodity. Importation was so bad that Nigeria which was one of the highest exporters of agricultural products became an importer to products such as rice, garri, cocoa and much more.
Older generations would be able to relate to the good times better when the Naira was as strong as the Dollar but for the newer generation seeking the history of the Naira against the dollar this article should help you with that.

EgunMogaji: There's an ongoing debacle that I'm currently in with another userid on here.
He stated that his brother not only opened the wrong but similar car but was actually trying to start the ignition before being accosted by the owner.
Now, I've owned quite a number of cars, well over 100, and have rented many and I have never ever tried to open the door of another car, let alone get inside that car and try to start it.
Personally, my cars are customized somewhat that they always stand out, but by the time I get inside the car I would have known. Smell, seat adjustment, placement of items, etc
So, have you done this before and if so what were the parameters to cause you to violate another man's ride in such a uncouth omanner I had once opened someones car. Honda crv, it was until i tried igniting the engine, i realised. I just ran out of the car. |

True federalism would have been a way out for us, but the fear of fear has kept us stagnant, nothing good ever comes easy. The government is just too far from the people, even Australia which is the end of the world is closer to us than our government, so much responsibility placed on the central government, which has totally rendered it useless and this is also a reason why corruption is on the rise? Very hard to hold anyone accountable. |

[sub][/sub] Come to think of it, you rush out there to vote during elections and every other thing remains stagnant after electing your representatives. After considering Nnamdi Kanus threat, I think the only reason you should not vote is if the government neglects your region, for instance the people that stays along the road that leads to LASPOTECH in Ikorodu should forget anything about voting, until the government takes action to ease their life, the road that leads to the school is so bad, infact what they have there is a crater and not pothole.

ifenuwon: Good day pple,
I need your advice on some issues bothering me now My girlfriend (dating for 2 years now with pastor and parents consent) has been behaving very funny these days.
She suddenly starts flirting with other guys openly and anytime I ask her who those guys are, she gets angry and tells me I have no right to ask her who they are even after I discovered she is having hidden chats and dates with them.
The first instance happens to be on her birthday, I planned to take her out and on getting to her shop I met this man there, though I didn't ask her who he was but on getting to the eatery she became very cold and didn't eat any of the things I bought for her...On asking her who the guy was she started telling me I shouldn't ask her but I later got to know the man cos his wife happens to be a patient of mine (I am a male nurse)
Second instance happens to be with a street guy I know Though I recently started seeing the guy in her shop every day but didn't ask her anything. My suspicion arose wen the few times I actually met the guy in her shop. She starts acting strange and both of them get very quite In one instance the guy was just in front of her and she texted him not knowing I saw what she was doing...
And the following day, I met them together on the way and immediately the guy saw me...he pretended like he wasn't with her and stylishly walked away. When I asked her who he was, she started over reacting and telling me I shouldn't ask her and if I don't trust her that is my problem.
Now I don't know what to do about her cos our families are close and we go to the same church...pls I need your opinion.
No insults What ever doesn't make you happy let it go, don't let anyone tamper with your joy... |

Education › Re: 6 Things You Do Not Know About Yourself (no 4 Will Shock You) by Man2utd(m): 5:41pm On Jun 22, 2017 |
dailyguide: Talking about individuality, we are all made special and wonderful with great attributes that distinct us from every other person around.
It is certain that most times when we see others do something that earns them award or recognition, we forget who and what we are, the greatness we also carry and want to be like them.
May I put this to you today that the best you can be is yourself. There is something in you that people want to tap from.
You are resourceful and an embodiment of exploits. Take time to discover yourself and you will see yourself flying high.
Below are 6 Marvelous Things You Do Not Know About Yourself.
1. You Are Gifted :
See, forget that you can not sing, dance, write or talk, there is something in you that weighs far more than this.
Mac Zuckerberg never had a singing or dancing gift but he had one thing which is initiating ideas. That might be yours.
Bill Gates was never an artist or artiste but he had a gift of creativity. That might also be yours.
Let me inform you, everybody has got a gift. To some two, to some one and to some many but no matter the condition, at least one has been kept within you.
The difference between someone who acknowledges that he has a gift and someone who doesn't is the ability to discover.
2. You Are Better Than Somebody :
Forget about discrimination or building of pride, no matter how worst your condition can be, you are better than not just someone but some people.
You need to start seeing yourself a king or Queen in your world.
That little defect you think you have and seem like its going to crash your whole world is what somebody or some people somewhere are praying for because their situation is worst.
3. You Are Not a Failure :
This is one thing you do not know about yourself that I will want you to know.
As a matter of fact,....continue reading here »» http://www.dailyguide.com.ng/2017/06/6-things-you-do-not-know-about-yourself.html?m=1 Why would you want to compare yourself with someone, always strife to be better than who you were yesterday. Search within. |
