A female student of Lagos State University named William Faulkner Sewuese Mathew was attacked at Durosimi Drive Etti Lekki Phase 1 Lagos State around 11:30am on 8th of February, 2017 by men of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Durosimi Drive, Etti , Lekki Phase 1 Lagos in the company of her Lilian Ifemeludike who is a Champion Ambassador of the United Nations for Women Empowerment on their way to the United Nation Women Empowerment mission.


In part below is what Lilian sent to Comrade Odubunmi Idowu NANS PRO which was forwarded exclusively to Trezzy Helm....

'My full names Lilian Ifemeludike and my foster sister's name is Sewuese Matthew. I am a United Nations Women Empowerment Champion and I was heading for a meeting with my United Nations Women Mentor when I realised that I had a flat tire so I went to fix it along Durosimi Etti Drive in Lekki phase one Lagos. I went along with my personal assistant who is also my foster sister. While the vulcanizer was checking my tire, some mobile police and taskforce men came to seize his machine. I tried to plead with them to let him fix back my tire since he had removed it already. While still pleading with him, my sister came to me crying  that she was punched in the eyes by a mobile police man. As I went to show their team leader what they had done to my sister, they asked me to gibe them my phone, when I refused, they hit me to the ground and strated to punch and kick me amd finally collected my phone so I followed them since they had my phone'.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) which is the umbrella body of all Nigerian students schooling within and outside the country condemn in totality the attack and other numerous maltreatments given to students by Nigerian police.

There is a problem with our educational system and the earlier we start taking steps towards fixing it, the better it is for our nation, how can recessed brain save a country in recession. Until we get the fundamentals of our education system right and put things in order nothing will change. education is not about passing test, its about preparing people to be effective in our society. Lets celebrate inventions and not construction of roads and bridges can you imagine how much allocation was giving to education in the budget.

this is such a sad incidence, but the funniest thing is that we Nigerians don't care for each other, we wait until things get out of hands before crying out. l read a sad tail of a boy that was wandering on the road on nairaland the other day and no appropriate body took any action even after the emergency service was called. Politicians don't care about the people who kept them there, their natural inclination is to think of how they can enrich themselves. The people in the House of Animals in abuja only pass bills that its effect is never felt by the citizens. if the world is celebrating development in technology and we still take pride in commissioning roads, you know our journey is still very far.

money is in the application of the word to what ever you decide to do in life.

Removing the subsidy is a bold step, but my fear is how do you cushion the effect, the price of food has gone up even when the so called subsidy is still there, I just can't imagine what it will look like after the deregulation if the government don't take certain steps.

Trains require bridges as do zero emission vehicles. Aside from walking (which also requires bridges) and cycling (same again).

How many trains have been built on a bridge in Nigeria, in case you forgot trains move on rail and you can type Underground Railroad on Google for more information.

The mainland is too much of an eyesore for any serious foreign investment.

Part of attracting investment entails marketing and PR and as things currently stands very few people would like at the mainland, as a whole (not Ikeja) and wish to put their money there.

Besides that, Lagos is in desperate need for more bridges. Not just a fourth mainland bridge but a 5th, 6th and 7th. A city of 20 million that only has 3 bridges between mainland and Island is going to experience serious gridlock.

What ever happened at the mainland is as a result of the government not giving it attention, and I still think bridges are not the solution but an alternative source of transportation, besides the whole world is trying to cut carbon emission.
