They've been together since 2011 (or longer) and Beverly herself confirmed to me that she's engaged to Flavour but the high life maestro is singing a different tune in a new interview with Encomium magazine. Flavour said not only is he single, he has also never proposed to anyone. I know that these two are still together but here's what he said when asked if he's engaged to Beverly. "It is not true. I never proposed to anybody. I am still single. Marriage is not on my mind now but my career.

Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities will meet in Akure, Ondo State, on Monday to deliberate on the strike embarked upon by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. This came as students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on Wednesday, urged the Federal Government to implement immediately the various agreements it reached with labour unions in the nation’s tertiary institutions. Also, OAU lecturers have insisted that the ongoing nationwide strike is not politically motivated. Lecturers in the public universities embarked on strike last July to protest against the non-implementation of the agreement they reached with the FG in 2009. Other associations like the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics and the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union have also threatened to embark on industrial action to protest the non-implementation of agreements they reached with the FG. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Adedayo Fasakin, while addressing journalists in Akure on Wednesday, said the vice-chancellors would also discuss other problems facing the nation’s universities. The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities on Monday began indefinite strike. This followed by a unanimous resolution adopted by members of the University of Ibadan chapter of the association at a congress held at the university Arts Theatre in Ibadan. The Chairman of the association, University of Ibadan chapter, Dr Wale Akinremi, said that the strike was total. ”This is as a result of the directive from our National Executive Council; so, the strike is a national strike.” He said that the association should have gone on strike for a very long time ”because of the government’s provoking way of attending to issues”. ” We have been short-changed by the government in the area of subventions and we cannot take it again ,” Akinremi said. According to him, the education sector is the bedrock of the nation’s development and should be treated with care. He said that there were other important issues beside the subventions that needed to be addressed. Akinremi listed the issues as training, funding and disparities in terms of payment. He said: ”Non-teaching members of staff are wrongly placed in the education system, and these issues must be holistically addressed.” According to Akinremi, SSANU will continue with the strike until it is call off by the national body. sources: punchng news updates at http://www.facebook.com/ |
Its obvious that ASUU is hiding the 2011 agreement from the masses. Else, what has kept them from making it public. ASUU has alot to answer. I dont blame gej that that it is politically oriented. |

The president Dr, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on the the presidential media chat at 7p.m today has attributed the strike undertaken by the Academic Staff Union of Universities as politically oriented. On his speech in the five man panel in the chat, he described the ASUU strike as unfortunate, saying that some political forces are behind the action taken by the union. However, he was unable to justify the 2009 agreement made between the federal government and ASUU. "We set up a panel which went around universities and took records and videos of infrastructural facilities. We are with the records now and geared towards infrastructural improvement in the federal and state universities across the country. ASUU did not ask us to do this and should not force us. We took the decision ourselves which the implementation has started yielding results with the disbursement of 100b naira to universities for a start. ASUU should get their monthly earned allowance through the internally generated revenue." The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) again rejected the offer by the Presidency put forward by the Viice President Namadi Sambo yesterday at a meeting to resolve the almost three-month-old strike by the lecturers. Also, ASUU Ibadan zone made up of University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Olabisi Onananjo University, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Lagos State University and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, at a zonal meeting yesterday, resolved to continue with the industrial action. The acting Zonal Coordinator, Ibadan Zone, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka said the strike entered its 88th day (yesterday), saying the action has crippled public universities. He said in spite of the spirited efforts of the union to revamp the rot in the system, the government remained adamant and intransigent in honouring the agreement it entered into with ASUU in 2009. “ASUU has demonstrated great commitment and patriotism since 2006 when the negotiation started and culminated in the 2009 agreement. It has allowed government to use its agencies to verify the claims of decrepit infrastructure in the university system. This resulted in the production of the Needs Assessment document of 2012,” Ogbinaka stated. According to him, the meeting of Tuesday, September 19 with the vice president was an indication that the Federal Government was merely paying lip service to education in the country and deceiving the public on its commitment to its transformation agenda. Ogbinaka, who is the branch chairman of ASUU UNILAG, assured Nigerians that it would not back-out in the struggle for the emancipation of the people by ensuring that government does what is right in the education sector. “Our appeal to all patriotic Nigerians is for them to support ASUU in this struggle to save our public education in Nigeria and secure the future of this great country,” he said. During the Ibadan zone meeting which took place at UNILAG, ASUU members resolved to continue with the almost three-month-old industrial action until government meets the demands of the union. Some of the branch chairmen at the meeting told Daily Sun that their various congresses, which held this week rejected offer put forward by the vice president, insisting on full implementation of the agreement. Acting ASUU Chairman of OOU, Dr. Tunde Odulanmi, ASUU UI branch Secretary, Dr. Deji Omole, told Daily Sun that their congresses rejected the outcome of the union’s meeting with Sambo and voted to continue with the strike. source http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/again-ASUU-rejects-presidency-offer-says-strike-continues/ http://..com "This ASUU self, they ain't straight forward. why can't they mention the offers by the fg?" |

New York CityAfter months of dodging the question, President Goodluck Jonathan in New York, United States on Sunday broke his silence on the 2015 presidential election when he said the Constitution allows him to do eight years of two terms This is even as he warned those fanning the embers of disintegration in the country to refrain from doing so as the interest of the nation was greater than that of any individual. He urged politicians to drop the “do or die” approach to politics and allow him to concentrate on his core mandate of governance. He said that having been elected by Nigerians, he should be allowed to work, adding that they have the right to vote out anybody they are not comfortable with his style of work. The President stated this on Sunday during lunch with Nigerian professionals in New York. He said, “already, we have a constitution that makes provision for maximum of eight years for anyone who wants to become president or governor. There is no president or governor that all citizens did not vote for, but at the end of the election if somebody emerges, you must allow the person to work. If you love your country, you would want your country to work. That does not mean that you will not vote against the person if you don’t like the way he works, but you must allow him to work”. In apparent reference to the festering Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis, which has resulted in the splinter group, headed by a former deputy national Chairman, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, and the criticism by the opposition parties, Jonathan said political leaders must be mindful of what they say or do in order not to undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria. He appealed to those he described as colleague politicians that “no matter how you feel about the political situation, consider the interest of your country first before yourself. “If you are struggling to enter a house, you must not put dynamite there to destroy the house. By the time you get there, there will be no house for you to stay. So, first and foremost, we must collectively build our country. Don’t bother about who is there now because power is transient, very, very temporary”. Asked if his administration was doing enough to tackle corruption, he said, “so many people are saying we are not doing well in fighting corruption and before you say that, there must be a parameter for judging us. What are the yardsticks they are using to judge us? “Before the advent of this government, the Federal Government was spending a whopping N25 billion on fertiliser with only a 11 per cent reaching the farmers, but since the coming on board of this administration, government now spends between N5 and N6 billion on fertiliser and we are getting 80 per cent reach. If we wanted to continue to steal money or look for money for election, we could have continued,” the President said. On the privatisation of the power sector, he said the government conducted the over $3 billion exercise in the most transparent manner. “Yes, we have not yet reached, where we want to reach, but we are making progress,” he said. Jonathan told the audience that his administration has made significant progress in reviving the rail transportation, aviation, road construction and other infrastructure. “The team that I am working with, we are doing our best to make sure that our country works,” he said.
