President Muhammadu Buhari has directed immediate payment of the bonuses and allowances of the Super Falcons. The Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Wednesday. Kyari said he had earlier today assured the Falcons who staged a protest that their allowances would be paid today. He said the Ministers of Finance and Sports, Kemi Adeosun and Solomon Dalung respectively had been directed to effect the payment. The Chief of Staff explained that the Super Falcons did the nation proud and must be rewarded. The Falcons, who crushed their Cameroonian counterparts penultimate Saturday to win the 2016 African Women Nation's Cup Trophy, had seized the trophy following the inability of the Nigerian Football Federation to pay their bonuses and allowances. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/sports/pay-falcons-allowances-buhari-orders-adeosun-dalung/176011.html#Sf9rXr38tkpy635x.99 Mynd44 lalasticla oam4j |

President Muhammadu Buhari has proposed a budget of N7.2 trillion for the 2017 fiscal year, Daily Trust has learnt. A source told our correspondent that the Federal Executive Council approved the 2017 Appropriation Bill yesterday during a six-hour meeting presided over by President Buhari. "The budget estimate that will be laid before the National Assembly for the year 2017 is N7.2 trillion. This is what FEC approved," the source hinted. This is about 24 percent higher than the 2016 budget which is N6.06 trillion. Budget and Planning Minister Udoma Udoma, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, confirmed that the council approved the 2017 budget proposal. Udoma said the president would communicate the Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly; while the legislature would use its discretion to decide when it will be presented. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/buhari-proposes-n7-2trn-budget-for-2017/174034.html Mynd44 oam4j |

The Federal Government says it has been saving about N20 billion on salaries monthly since it began to fish out ghost workers. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr Mahmoud isa-Dutse, said this while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja on the sideline of a workshop on cost management. The workshop was organised for Directors and top civil servants of Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) by the Efficiency Unit of the Ministry of Finance. Isa-Dutse said that the drastic reduction in the cost of monthly wages was from N165 billion to N145 billion monthly. He said this was done with the assistance of the Presidential Committee on Audit of MDAs. He said the committee had the responsibility of continuous auditing of MDAs’ salaries and wages. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/business/fg-saves-n20bn-on-salaries-monthly-perm-secretary/172814.html#1fWmD5KtVzqK87M5.99 Mynd44 Oam4j |
